We can meet before... but we should settle on a date to meet him. And a time. I think that would for the best. I'd rather not have it suddenly sprung on me a few hours before.

I see. I was hoping to go as soon as possible, at least when able to. The longer we leave it, the more likely someone is going to go there and open it up. Would in the morning be alright? We can have breakfast, or at least coffee, then go to speak with Olwen afterwards?

[ kaveh supposes that's enough time to figure something out. something being himself and how he's going to do this. ] Alright. Tomorrow morning is fine. If we're going to go straight there, then... perhaps you should come here. I can make the coffee.

[ alhaitham probably makes him sleep though, so when he finally does get up ( likely at the crack of dawn ) he can work on getting ready. his make-up is going to have to work overtime to have him looking presentable. he sighs, dragging himself into the bathroom to begin. by the time nine rolls around he's made coffee, tea, toast, eggs, bacon, pancakes, and basically a bunch of other stuff, because he needed to keep busy. hope you're hungry, ayato. ]

{ he can bet on it, but while kaveh will struggle with maintaining his appearance, ayato has autumn's seasonal powers to help him as he uses insomnia control to stay awake. he won't be able to do it forever, but as his replays what he needs to say over and over, it keeps him calm. preparation and work is something that can keep him focused.

it's a little bit of a distance from sunwaning now but it isn't too bad to get across for 9am. they likely went to bed early the past few nights anyway.

he'll knock on the door once they arrive, steeling himself for the conversation that awaits. }

[ to his credit kaveh doesn't look like he's on the verge of another breakdown when he answers the door. he looks... fine! his make-up game is on point, and it's crazy what lying to yourself in the mirror and temporarily burying fears, failure, and truckloads of self-loathing can accomplish! he cracks a small smile ( blink and you'll miss it ) before stepping aside and motioning for ayato and thoma to come in. ]

I made coffee. [ and a dozen other things. ] And breakfast. Eat, please, it's early and we have a long day ahead of us. [ he heads toward the kitchen, motioning to the table. ] How do you like your tea? [ he made that too. ]

{ rather than smiling, ayato nods his head in greeting. he has a small notebook in one hand, ready full of information to pass onto olwen later as needed. }

Hello. { it seems fairer to say than 'good morning', because no one in this space likely feels good about anything just yet. even with a day to stew and try and process it all. }

{ he hates he can't be everywhere at once, too. that the best he can do is kiss the back of thoma's hand and promise he won't be long, before he goes to join kaveh in the kitchen.

his hand feels empty and cold. a strange feeling when he's held onto someone's for what feels like the past day already. as though letting go now is too much. yet, nothing on his face gives that away. }

{ he'll take a seat then, placing the book down so he can hold his own hand as he clasps them together on the table. }

{ his eyes dip towards the table where kaveh has been setting things up. }

It's no trouble at all. [ he murmurs as he sets a plate down in front of ayato, the other going in front of the space he intends to sit at. ] I insist. [ he says a bit more firmly, since he doesn't want all of this time spent to be for nothing. ]

[ the coffee and tea are set down next, along with milk and sugar, and then kaveh is finally taking his own seat. if it looks like he might vibrate out of his own skin, then that's because he just might. he moves an egg and some hash onto his plate, eyes on the food instead of ayato. ]

I could say the same for you. It seems your notebook is nearly full.

{ he doesn't really want to eat. he feels sick at the thought of it, in all honesty. especially as thoma has likely already tried to insist he eat regularly.

but, as to not be rude, he will pick at the toast at least. he peels off the edges, almost nibbling on the bread as his eyes stay focused on kaveh now they can.

it's incredibly difficult to not see the last images he saw of him though, back at that mansion. yet, despite it, he can't seem to turn his gaze away either. }

Most of it is nonsense... But I had to analyse the video I took before we go to visit Olwen.

ayato gets bullied until he eats. ]

[ despite almost demanding the man opposite him eat kaveh is mostly poking at his own food, at least until ayato mentions the video. his utensils scrape against the plate, causing an instant grating on both of their ears. with the egg cut the yolk bleeds onto the hash, kaveh's eyes dropping to watch, which immediately has him thinking about how he basically threw up his own insides. ] ... [ he goes pale. ] I see. [ he sets the fork and knife down, picking up his coffee mug and gripping it hard to keep his hands steadyish. ] And... was there anything specific you were trying to gleam from that video?

{ this is fine. both of them can just poke at food for now, though it seems ayato is getting a little further. he's sticking with just bread for now for a reason.

but he isn't blind, eyes following the changes kaveh makes when he cuts into the food, instead moving to his coffee. }

{ this is a whole other level of torturing yourself, really. he watched the video on repeat, trying to write anything and everything he could from memory while thoma and ayaka slept. there was no need for sound, after all. }

...did we experience the same things? [ it's not like kaveh would know. he died before ayato, so anything that happened after that is a mystery. ]

{ he doesn't know what is better or worse to say, so he keeps it vague. }

More or less. { but it takes a while for those words to come. because to be fair, kaveh doesn't need to know that helplessly watching and knowing you can't do anything while your friend suffers is likely worse for him than experiencing it first hand would have been. }

... [ more or less. the hesitation tells him that might not be entirely true, but he's not going to press the matter for both of their sanity. ] If that's the case, then I'm sorry. [ he wouldn't wish what he felt on his worst enemies. ] And we're asking him what can and will be done about the mansion? the sooner the better?

{ he appreciates that, at least. letting them linger on the topic wouldn't be good for either of them. }

If you're going to apologise, I should as well. So perhaps we should leave that there? As for the rest... yes. Ideally we want a way for no one else to get inside. I'm also curious to know if it existed before or surfaced after the Tragedy of Greed.

Ideally. [ said quietly. ] ... [ kaveh is quiet for a few moments, but then he shakes himself free of his thoughts to continue their conversation. ] Tragedy of Greed?

Exactly. The incident that rendered this world as it is now. { his voice quietens now, as though he's worried about the words he says next. or rather, kaveh's reaction to it. } It may have been the end result of one of the people who stole seasonal powers.

[ kaveh arches a brow. ] ...stole seasonal powers? Do you think you could tell me a little bit more about that?
