Art Imitates Life

[The slightly wobbly-outlined elemental slimes with comically googly eyes bouncing down the centre of one of the streets in Nightwake could not possibly be anything to do with the young woman chasing after them waving blank pieces of paper. Who would even think that of her? Why would you think that of her?

Unfortunately, if any innocent bystander happens to catch her eye (deliberately or not) they will find themselves suddenly having a piece of paper thrust into their hand as she pats against their forearm with the other palm.]

Come on, before something gets set on fire!

[And normally she wouldn’t be so… harried about it, but she didn’t really intend to start the day with property damage.]

What Time Is It, Mr. Moth?

It’s almost nightfall.

[Guizhong hums out thoughtfully as she shifts in the grass, turning to look over her shoulder at the fabric sheep grazing in the field. The animals have seemed a little on-edge all day and she supposes it’s no wonder, with the poor things being attacked so often that someone needed to call in outside help for it.

The woman stretches her arms out in front of her, hands linked together, and cracks her fingers.]

I’ve never seen a wolfmoth. [She says, tilting her head.] Do you suppose they’re as big as they say? Or is it just people making them larger in their own minds?

[Well, either way… she imagines they are going to find out soon.]

Scrappy, Aren't We?

[It isn’t the first time that Guizhong has made her way up to this location to steal bits of scrap from the robot dragons. She likes to watch them first, finding a spot far enough away that she doesn’t bother them on their hordes, wondering what it might be like to be able to take one of them apart…]

I wonder if they count as living creatures. [She has to wonder aloud.] They must be powered by some kind of magic at that size.

[In her mind, that is the only thing that makes sense… and somewhere like this ‘magic’ is a far more likely option than something more technology-based, surely..?

Once she’s had her fill of observation, though, she’ll dart down closer and start to creep in. But those dragons are wily things, always on guard of their piles of scrap, and as one of them suddenly swings its head around to where she is--]

Wait-!

[She grabs her companion and pulls them suddenly down behind a rock with far more strength than someone so slight should possess.]

… Phew. Almost got spotted.
