Companion Creature Gathering

WHAT: Twogami's organised a gathering for the influx of unwitting new Pokémon parents (and some more experienced ones) to network and gather information.
WHEN: Early April
WHERE: Amberfall cafe event space
WARNINGS: Mostly cute things but possibly trauma in Twogami's TL



After posting to the network about his plans to host a gathering for everyone who'd suddenly been gifted with Pokémon eggs. That way, at least they could exchange some sort of information- and let their new companions make some friends and training buddies!

...and so, despite the restlessness in his mind, he grit his teeth and set about organising another party.

Twogami had carefully selected the back rooms of a stylish cafe in Amberfall for the event, with elegant curtains framing wide glass doors that opened up onto an outdoor seating area.

The larger of the rooms sported a wooden floor - easy for clean up, and well-maintained - and it was here that he had seen to the catering, with tables against two of the walls containing a multitude of buffet-style foods and drinks. Beside that, a wide selection of Pokémon and pet treats on a lower table, that's easier for the little ones to get to. There's plenty of places about the room to sit, eat and talk, with the tables just spread out enough for Pokémon to go running around.

The adjacent room has been set out as something of a quiet space, for those who might find themselves a little overwhelmed by the activities. There's beanbags, blankets and other soft furnishings, along with a table of information; Twogami had collected plenty of information about the new creatures they've found- some in physical books, others copies of his own notes that have been printed and set into ring-binders for anyone to take home with them.

The outside area was primarily set out for their new companion creatures to play and run around, with different types of toys and games to keep them amused- including a spacious inflatable pool and a marked off area for them to test out their battle abilities, should they choose!

Welcoming Committee

Ah, welcome. Thank you for coming.

[Byakuya himself waited at the entrance as guests arrived, keeping his usual imposing presence- well, as much as he could as an arrogant teenager, anyway. His Mimikyu, Daifuku, confidently hung around at his side peering at everyone and squeaking a greeting to any new Pokémon he spotted- and he had even picked up a tiny green cross-over tie for his disguise, perfect for matching his person!]

...You'll have to forgive him, he's a little excited to meet everyone.

Sharing Information

So, what have you been able to learn about your companion so far?

[Despite having a quiet research room, Byakuya was primarily discussing his own findings by one of the buffet tables. That way, he could enjoy the good food as well as get information! The best of both worlds!]

And if you haven't already, do help yourself to the food. I made sure there would be plenty- I would recommend the Karaage Chicken if meat is agreeable to you.

Quiet Room

It's all been going well so far, so why...

[He'd taken a moment to step out into the quieter room, wiping the sweat off his palms with a napkin.

He had checked the venue carefully to make sure there were no blind spots. No one here was being threatened, to his knowledge. And so far, everyone he'd encountered in Ellipsa seemed good people at best and tolerable at worst.

But...

Something still ate away at the back of his mind- an anxiety he couldn't quite shake. An irrational feeling that something was about to go horribly, horribly wrong.

His Mimikyu made a worried little squeak, nudging at him.]

...Don't worry, we'll head back soon.

[If there was already someone in the room- or someone has followed him- he had yet to notice.]

[Mecchan had to run into the quiet room to decompress for a little bit. When he sees Togami and Daifuku, he hides and nervously watches... but they've been nothing but nice, so he carefully approaches from behind a bean bag chair, holding a crayon, and nervously blows a bubble. What's wrong?]

Daigo Dojima & Kuri

Old man yakuza boss and his chespin have been together for some time now, which seemed like all the more reason to say hello to all the new pokemon owners. He's far from an expert anyway, why not take a chance to learn and let his little buddy make some new friends.

Kuri is cheerful and friendly, clearly well treated by his owner. Daigo lingers nearby to observe and, while perhaps a bit less overtly cheerful, is also a friendly face. He's happy to make pokemon small talk.

"Ah, I got him from the gacha machine in the depths of the mall. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but it's nice to have company."

He's cute!

[Rinku smiles and waves, then offers the Chespin a treat. Hina flies down to squeak curiously, though Mecchan is hanging back.]

How long have you had him? Mecchan's been here almost two years, though I don't know how old he was when I got him. We had a birthday party for him last month anyway 'cause he wanted his own.

Byakuya's Mimikyu, Daifuku, soon spotted the Chespin- and wondered over with a chirp of greeting. It was quite easy to spot who this one belonged to, given the Mimikyu's disguise had been kitted out with a matching green-crossover tie.

"Someone did mention that vending machine. I thought abandoning eggs at people's apartments was strange enough, but keeping creatures like this inside a vending machine is even worse."

Fela & Delilah

Fela never goes anywhere on purpose. It's much more likely that the munna led her here out of its own desire to see the newly hatched pokemon. She too was once a mysterious egg gifted to a sleeping woman.

Fela still seems drowsy and a bit confused now. She always is, drifting in and out of places with no memory of where she's been. She relies on her munna companion quite a bit for their psychic connection, for the little reminders and nudges that her pokemon can provide.

The pair are accompanied by some birds, some squirrels, some capybara. It's a whole entourage that lingers near the pretty lady. Fela gazes at the food with uncertainty,

"We can have this?"

[Rinku smiles and waves, then has to scoop Hina out of the air before she tries to bite one of Fela's princess brigade of animals.]

Togami-san put a lot of work into this meetup.

"Of course. There are plates, cutlery and cups on the side, so please help yourself to whatever you like." Byakuya folded his arms as he looked over the Pokémon and- that was quite some menagerie. Was that a capybara?

"There's treats for the Pokémon and animals as well."

This person... Byakuya couldn't quite get a read on her. As if she had been sleepwalking all this way, perhaps? Was that an effect of her companion, or was she always like this?

...That drowsy manner...his mind strayed back to his classmates for a moment. Nanami, known for her talents in gaming, had much the same demeanour- often hiding in her hoodie whilst trying to stifle a yawn.

Aimoto Rinku | D4DJ (Dig Delight Direct Drive DJ) | Summer

[Rinku showed up with Mecchan and Hina, of course, as well as a few supplies like crayons and a colouring book. Hina goes to fly over to the nearest person and greet them --]

Remember not to bite, okay?

[-- but Mecchan is more shy, clinging onto Rinku. She pats him.]

Don't worry! This won't be scary at all. And your friends are here!

[Mime Jr toddles right up to Mecchan chirping out a happy greeting. Break is a few feet away snacking, and seemingly not paying attention.]

megumi aikawa ⚡ heaven burns red

[Megumi is here, wearing her usual casual outfit -- except for one thing. Her hat seems to be off her head, as the little Quaxly seems to be waddling around with it on, just looking rather curious as they stare at all the new sights.

But they seem to be getting a bit far from their owner, bumping into things, whether that be tables or even you and your Pokemon...enough for Megumi to have to call out,]

OI, MARU!!!!

[Which prompts the Quaxly to well... quack in surprise as the psychic squats down to their height.]

Don't wander off like that, ya might get lost. [And if Quaxly's bumped into a person (read as: you) or Pokemon,] Sorry 'bout that, I think she's excited.

[Mecchan hides behind Rinku, looking like he's about to cry at the noise. Hina just squeaks and flies into Maru, bumping right back into her.]

It's okay! She's really cute, Megumi-chan. The professor's Quaquaval-chan used to be one of those!

Well, someone's enthusiastic.

[No hesitation at all in the little Pokémon as it came running right into his leg- A wry smile came into his face as he turned to Megumi.]

So I see yours finally hatched. I'm glad she's enjoying herself.

Frieda Reiss (Attack on Titan) & Karpje

[Frieda arrived with the intent of making new pokémon-owning friends on her Magikarp's behalf (she even printed a picture of it to wear around her neck in a photocard holder), but imagine her surprise when there's actually a fairly spacious inflatable pool set up outside! It's hardly deep enough for her armful-sized fish to fully submerge itself, but it'll be far more comfortable here than on dry ground.

Consequently, she can be found by the kiddie pool during most of the event, talking to her pokémon and encouraging it as it looks around with its wide expressionless eyes. Frieda pours water over it from her palms.]

Don't be shy, Karpje! If you'd like me to call someone over, let me know!

[The Magikarp suddenly delivers a noisy splash at the sight of... you and your pokémon?]

Frieda-chan! Karpje-chan!

[Rinku waves and comes over, followed by her two. Mecchan holds up a crude orange scribble on a piece of paper. Look! He drew Karpje!]

How are you guys doing? Togami-kun put a lot of work in!

[With Amberfall being the district of eternal Autumn, Byakuya did wonder if errant weather could jeopardise the outdoor activities- but thankfully, the clear, not too cold day was on his side! And it seemed that the pool had been well-received too, given the fish Pokémon happily splashing around.

Splashing around... in his direction? Well, he had been trying to introduce himself to all the attendees, so he went over, his Mimikyu in tow.]

If you need me to top up the water a little more, do let me know.

[It still wouldn't be enough to submerge the Magikarp, but just enough to replace the water splashed out...]

Toshirou Hijikata (Gintama) & Hinobuta + Maken

[Hijikata can't help but feel like a veteran pokémon trainer as he arrives with his fully evolved Emboar and Aegislash flanking him, each as tall as a man and several times heavier.]

Remember to play nice with all the little ones, guys! If they want to grow stronger, teach them what you know!

[As long as it's within their type remit, that is. Frankly, both large pokémon are very excited to be here - despite their intimidating appearance, they're still very young, merely having been evolved at breakneck speed (which, in fairness, they also take pride in - they're full-fledged partners to their trainer!). Chances are either of them will approach your little pokémon to play... how intimidated will it be?]

[Mecchan hides from lots of things, but these are his friends! He waves happily and scrambles over from where he and Hina were playing with blocks. Hina, for her part, starts to gnaw on the block tower.

Rinku comes up over, waving and smiling.]

I bet they'll have a lot of fun, Hijikata-san. Even Mecchan is making new friends!

[ The chespin hiding behind Daigo's leg is very intimidated, actually. But Daigo himself is casual, hands tucked in his pockets. ]

Hijikata. How have you been?

Daifuku right now 😲

Hijikata. So these are your companions, are they?

[Certainly, they were impressive! Just from looking, their power was clear enough- and judging from the excited squeaks from Byakuya's Mimikyu, Daifuku, the little one was very impressed! Not that it was easy to tell, given the expression of it's disguise never changed.]

It seems we've got some catching up to do.

Kazuichi Souda 🍁 Danganronpa 🍁 & Varoom

[After months of trying, Twogami finally managed to convince Kazuichi to leave their apartment. He did visit vending machines remotely but this is the first proper time after arriving to Ellipsa he's actually out.

Which makes him look around nervously and stick nearby Twogami at the start of the meetup, but as the party starts going he gets more confident with being there.

His partner is Varoom, who is equally as shy as Kazuichi is, even when he starts being more outgoing.]

Come to think of it, I still haven't given you a name, huh?

Aww, it's cute...

[Mecchan hides behind Rinku and cautiously peers out, blowing a nervous bubble.]

I know! You could name it something about cleaning! Or robots!

[Byakuya had no objections to Kazuichi sticking close by as the event start rolled around- in fact, behind his bluster, it came as something of a relief to have the moral support.]

...Well, I've made all the preparations I can.

[He says. Whilst running his foot along the edge of the wooden floor. For the third time.

No gaps or loose floorboards...good.

At least he hadn't made plans to start searching everyone again this time around?]

The buffet food should be arriving imminently, as well.

Xerxes Break | Pandora Hearts

I. Break Socializing

[Break is leaning on a wall with his sword-cane next to him and a plate of food (that his Mime Jr helped him get) in hand. He snacks as he listens to the other people come and go. At least until someone gets close enough to him for him to spark a (hopefully) polite conversation.]

Hello there~ what kind of Pokemon did you end up with?

II. Mime Jr. Socializing

[After helping her trainer, the Mime Jr. wanders off to play with the other Pokemon. Or well...create invisible Barriers for the other Pokemon to run into.]

That's right, I never introduced you to Daifuku on the call, did I?

[His Mimikyu- wearing a matching green cross-over tie as its person- popped up at Byakuya's side.]

eren jaeger | attack on titan

Eren almost doesn't bother showing up, since he doesn't have any weird eggs. What he does have is a weird Pokemon, though. He's had Yamask for as long as he's been in Ellipsa, though he had no idea what a Pokemon even was then.

Unlike many other Pokemon, Yamask is shy. It mostly hides behind Eren's leg, peeking out at all the other Pokemon and people.

"Don't you want to make friends for once?" Eren asks it. It just looks up at him with that same teary face it always has. He shrugs.

"Fine, let's just get some food, then," he says.

Yamask is a high level ghost type who has accidentally cursed inanimate objects in the past (unbeknownst to Eren). It isn't combative, but it's a little weird and unpredictable as a creepy lil ghost creature. Still, it could use a friend! So could Eren, but you know.

"Eren-san! Your friend is cute!"

Mecchan peers curiously over from his position latched onto Rinku's shoulder. Another anxious Pokémon who cries? Kindred spirit?

"What kind is it, do you know?" Rinku smiles, tail wagging.
