Companion Creature Gathering

WHAT: Twogami's organised a gathering for the influx of unwitting new Pokémon parents (and some more experienced ones) to network and gather information.
WHEN: Early April
WHERE: Amberfall cafe event space
WARNINGS: Mostly cute things but possibly trauma in Twogami's TL



After posting to the network about his plans to host a gathering for everyone who'd suddenly been gifted with Pokémon eggs. That way, at least they could exchange some sort of information- and let their new companions make some friends and training buddies!

...and so, despite the restlessness in his mind, he grit his teeth and set about organising another party.

Twogami had carefully selected the back rooms of a stylish cafe in Amberfall for the event, with elegant curtains framing wide glass doors that opened up onto an outdoor seating area.

The larger of the rooms sported a wooden floor - easy for clean up, and well-maintained - and it was here that he had seen to the catering, with tables against two of the walls containing a multitude of buffet-style foods and drinks. Beside that, a wide selection of Pokémon and pet treats on a lower table, that's easier for the little ones to get to. There's plenty of places about the room to sit, eat and talk, with the tables just spread out enough for Pokémon to go running around.

The adjacent room has been set out as something of a quiet space, for those who might find themselves a little overwhelmed by the activities. There's beanbags, blankets and other soft furnishings, along with a table of information; Twogami had collected plenty of information about the new creatures they've found- some in physical books, others copies of his own notes that have been printed and set into ring-binders for anyone to take home with them.

The outside area was primarily set out for their new companion creatures to play and run around, with different types of toys and games to keep them amused- including a spacious inflatable pool and a marked off area for them to test out their battle abilities, should they choose!

[Rinku showed up with Mecchan and Hina, of course, as well as a few supplies like crayons and a colouring book. Hina goes to fly over to the nearest person and greet them --]

Remember not to bite, okay?

[-- but Mecchan is more shy, clinging onto Rinku. She pats him.]

Don't worry! This won't be scary at all. And your friends are here!

[Mime Jr toddles right up to Mecchan chirping out a happy greeting. Break is a few feet away snacking, and seemingly not paying attention.]

[Mecchan hesitantly waves back and returns to attaching onto Rinku. Hina flits around Break and squeaks, wondering if she's allowed to bite him.]

Aww, you're cute! You're pretty friendly, huh? Maybe that means your person is, too.

[candybreak]

[The Mime Jr happily responds to the compliment with a chirp and a little twirl. At the mention of her trainer, the Baby Pokemon points over to where Break is shooing Hina away from him.]

[Rinku looks up and --]

Hina-chan!

[She comes over and gathers Hina up in her hands. Mecchan climbs behind her to hide.]

People don't like it when you try to drink their blood. --Oh, you're that guy from that one time!

[The Mime Jr follows behind them.]

Ah, I remember you~ I see you've got yourself some of these...Pokemon too, hm~?

[He's in a much better mood this time. A creature to learn about taking priority over his own angst.]

Have you had yours for long?

Yeah!

[Endless positivity over here.]

Mecchan, the Sobble, he's been here for about two years now, but I don't know how old he was when I got him. He doesn't fight a lot, and he's pretty shy, but he's really good at other things for a kid! He played the keyboard at my concert once!

[Mecchan stays hiding, slowly poking his head out again. Hina squeaks.]

And Hina-chan here is a Zubat. She was born here, almost a year ago! She's really friendly, but she likes to bite.

So you've named them?

[He supposes that he should probably name his Mime Jr something eventually. Said Mime Jr is currently trying her best to get Mecchan to play.]

Mime Jr hatched about a week ago. Given that you're more experienced with raising these creatures, perhaps you can tell me a bit about them?

[The books and notes left out for people will do nothing for him, but he's determined not to let coming out here be a waste.]

[nod nod] What do you wanna know? They eat lots of things, though the kibble Riki-san gives out at the store is healthy for them. I started both of them on it and then switched to human food mostly. And sometimes other stuff. Hina-chan's species drinks blood, and Mecchan eats bugs and leaves sometimes like other lizards.

[Oh good. Open books like her were easy to get information from...Even if they sometimes gave him more information than he needs. He prefers more to less.]

Food is a good start. Basic care outside of that would be useful as well like exercise, enrichment, and the like. As would as would any concerning things I would need to look out for. As well as abilities, as I've noticed Mime Jr has done some...interesting [read: annoying] things this past week that I've had it.

[Rinku giggles as Mecchan nervously agrees to play and rolls a ball over to Mime Jr.]

Every type is different! Mecchan is a Water-type, and that's why he likes to swim and play in the pool or the lake. Some species have two types. Hina-chan is both a Flying and Poison-type. It means they have different abilities too! Like Hina-chan could poison people, but she won't do that because if she bites you, it's because she wants to know what you are or drink your blood.

[Mime Jr cheers and rolls the ball back to Mecchan.]

I see. I would still rather your Hina not bite me.

You wouldn't happen to know what type Mime Jr is, would you? She's rather energetic, but I'm not sure that would help determine her type.

[Hina squeaks, disappointed. Okay, she won't bite... Mecchan rolls the ball back happily.]

Hm... I think it's a Psychic, but lemme check.

[Rinku pulls up the Pokédex app on her phone. Within a few seconds, she nods.]

She's two types too! Psychic and Fairy.
