Companion Creature Gathering

WHO: Byakuya Twogami and OPEN
WHAT: Twogami's organised a gathering for the influx of unwitting new Pokémon parents (and some more experienced ones) to network and gather information.
WHEN: Early April
WHERE: Amberfall cafe event space
WARNINGS: Mostly cute things but possibly trauma in Twogami's TL



After posting to the network about his plans to host a gathering for everyone who'd suddenly been gifted with Pokémon eggs. That way, at least they could exchange some sort of information- and let their new companions make some friends and training buddies!

...and so, despite the restlessness in his mind, he grit his teeth and set about organising another party.

Twogami had carefully selected the back rooms of a stylish cafe in Amberfall for the event, with elegant curtains framing wide glass doors that opened up onto an outdoor seating area.

The larger of the rooms sported a wooden floor - easy for clean up, and well-maintained - and it was here that he had seen to the catering, with tables against two of the walls containing a multitude of buffet-style foods and drinks. Beside that, a wide selection of Pokémon and pet treats on a lower table, that's easier for the little ones to get to. There's plenty of places about the room to sit, eat and talk, with the tables just spread out enough for Pokémon to go running around.

The adjacent room has been set out as something of a quiet space, for those who might find themselves a little overwhelmed by the activities. There's beanbags, blankets and other soft furnishings, along with a table of information; Twogami had collected plenty of information about the new creatures they've found- some in physical books, others copies of his own notes that have been printed and set into ring-binders for anyone to take home with them.

The outside area was primarily set out for their new companion creatures to play and run around, with different types of toys and games to keep them amused- including a spacious inflatable pool and a marked off area for them to test out their battle abilities, should they choose!

Huh... so naming her "Maru" really was the right choice.

[Megumi: a girl who just thought that the Quaxly reminded her of someone she knew and... well...]

I'll see 'bout gettin' her a pool.

Maru's such a cute name! Round things are always happier, don't you think?

[Hina squeaks in agreement and flies in a circle around Maru.]

Are you gonna raise her to fight? I tried taking Mecchan on quests at first, but he didn't really like it. Hina-chan's more okay with it, but I only take her on the easy ones.

... Hm? I dunno 'bout that. I just named her after a friend of mine.

[Sorta.]

Well, that depends if she wants ta. I ain't gonna force her. [And the duck quacks.]

[roundandaround]

That's how I feel too. [Rinku gently scritches Mecchan's head and lets Hina land in her open hand.] I want these two to have good lives and be able to do whatever they want.

Well, whatever Maru decides on, I'll make sure ta let her achieve her dream.

[Whatever that dream is, anyway.]

Yeah! I bet you can do it. It's good to see everyone here cares so much, huh?

It'd be bad if there're people who didn't.

[Which Megumi is absolutely keeping an eye out for - not just now, but for the future.]

Yeah. Anyone who treats these guys badly would be bad news, right?

[Hina squeaks proudly. She'll bite them!]

Yeah. But I'll protect 'em.

[roundandaround]

Me too. They're depending on us, even when they're strong! So that makes sense.

[Mecchan nervously approaches his fellow Water type. Maru seems nice... he babbles and gestures, indicating he's introducing himself and Hina.]

...maybe it's like how even if we're strong, some people will always worry.

[yersavior]

[The little duck waves with a quack in an attempt to be polite and properly greet.]

Prob'ly... but I'd rather not have people worry ta begin with. Instead of worryin', they should trust me.

[roundandaround]

Did that happen to you too? Someone worrying and thinking you couldn't do it?

['Too', huh...

Megumi lowers her voice shaking her head.]

Nah. Fer me, it was the opposite. I couldn't trust myself. But everyone believed in me, in spite of that.

[roundandaround]

Megumi-chan...

[Mecchan blows a bubble and makes a shaky sympathetic noise.]

I think you're great too. You always work hard, and you can do all kinds of stuff!

Thank you.

[She says it in an appreciative voice.]

But... I didn't used ta be able ta do all of that.

[roundandaround]

[Rinku smiles, good natured.]

I had to learn everything I'm good at too. I think everyone did. So it's fine! I'm glad you're who you are now.

I suppose yer right. It was a long journey, though...

[roundandaround]

Yeah, but life is always like that! I mean, it's life, so it's the longest thing you ever do 'cause it's everything you do.

[yersavior]

Mmm, I guess so.

[Megumi smiles, but there's something... sad, in her smile.]

[roundandaround]

[Rinku tilts her head and blinks. She smiles down at the Pokémon getting along.]

At least these guys have us! I know you're gonna give Maru-chan a good life.
