happy birthday, how much more can you take?
WHO: Rinku, Evangeline, everyone who knows the latter even a little
WHAT: Evangeline birthday party number 1: The SFW One
WHEN: February 8
WHERE: Shining Karaoke
WARNINGS: None so far, this is the clean party.
Rinku had booked out the biggest room at the karaoke bar for the entire night. Everyone who had so much as an acquaintanceship with Evangeline was invited, so it might get a little crowded even so. The machines had just been updated with songs from all over, allowing everyone to sing whatever they wanted – though maybe holding off on the inappropriate ones would be good, at least while the kids were awake.
Pizza had been trucked in, many different kinds. Of course they had plenty of pepperoni mushroom, the birthday girl’s favourite, but Rinku had also ordered everything from cheese to spinach feta to spicy pepper, shrimp and mayo, dill pickle, and a heavy, topping-laden one just labelled ALL. If there’s one you want, it’s probably there. Drinks were available to order from the bar, including all kinds of non-alcoholic options. Cake and ice cream also came in by request; the cake is a large chocolate one with an abstract creature that the cake decorator clearly thought constituted a “cool monster” on it.
Karaoke, discussion, food, presents at a table at the room door... what else did a party need?

Labelled from Mecchan is a book about foraging and what’s edible, with a focus on things found in the Mapleline Forest and Pumpkin Spice Trail. The card reads, DERE EVANLJN. HAV FUN WITH BOK. FROM MECCHAN
Labelled from Hina is a deer antler chew toy. The card just has Hina’s footprints (are those feet?) in paint, with Love, Hina in Rinku’s writing.]
I let them pick out their own gifts! They were pretty excited.

The card he leaves with it reads "From your favorite hedgehog. You know the one. Wink wink."

To Evangeline,
Happy Birthday.
I saw this and knew you would love it.
I hope it shows even a small amount of my appreciation for you.
Signed,
Your favorite Hedgehog.
Inside is a very wild outfit. Fishnets included.]

How’s it going, everyone? Are you all having a good time? ♪
[She’ll also be around the party and mingling in general, even while stuffing cake into her face.]
Do you like the party? I promised Neechan I’d throw her one months ago so everyone could have fun. Did I get enough different pizzas?
[And... even Rinku needs time to step out someplace quiet, it seems? But if you follow her into an empty karaoke room, she sets down some plates of pizza and lets her Sobble and Zubat out of their Poké Balls.]
Sorry, it’s probably too much for you guys in there, huh? Don’t worry, I gave Neechan your presents.

Rinku! You're the life of the party again! Well done organising all of this!

Early on, she approaches the karaoke mic and then suddenly freezes.]
...None of my go-to karaoke songs are appropriate for kids. Help.
[Yes, she had literal months ahead of time to realize this was going to be a problem and think of something else to sing, but she's been busy, okay.
Once that hurdle's overcome, she happily flits from guest to guest to check in.]
Thanks for coming! Are you planning on singing something?
[...Later towards the end of the evening, she takes a moment to just look out at how full the room is.]
...I have a lot of friends here, huh? How'd that happen?
[It hadn't really sunk in until now, and there's open wonder in her voice.]
karaoke
Uh... there's a lot of other ones you can try! Do you know any of these?
[Rinku brings up one of the books of karaoke songs and starts flipping through and pointing out songs she played or otherwise used to mix with other things at Evangeline's last party.]

[ If there had been no dresscode specifications to the contrary, he'll be in the same tailored suit he had wore to Reiner's solstice party, brace and cane included. The only difference that may or may not be noticeable is a gold band ring on his left hand. He has brought more home-blended herbal tea, the one that helps better sleep, and a somewhat old-fashioned-looking, tastefully ornamented dessert tray that he must have thrifted from somewhere, filled with what appears to be homemade chocolate chip cookies.
Raisin free! He's made them all from scratch and didn't try to use the unlimited cookie jar to cheat.][ Luckily, he doesn't drop any of it at the inquiry about singing, but he certainly looks a little taken aback, watching Evangeline as if he's waiting for her to clarify that she is joking. ]

Mary, of course, had soon found her way to the food table - first, suspiciously eyeing the 'all' pizza.
"If I ate a bit I could try all the possible toppings at once."
She's thinking about it-
She was showing similar levels of restraint when staring at the huge cake, practically bouncing on her feet with enthusiasm.
"Ohh!! This cake's really pretty!"
Karaoke
Once she'd had her fill- don't mind her having a tiny bit of icing on her nose she hadn't cleaned off yet, oops- she could be seen staring at the machines in awe.
"So those are the things Rinku was talking about! Hm. I don't know many songs though..."
Frowning intently in thought-

Admittedly, it takes Jean a few drinks to get the courage to attempt actual karaoke. He does a few songs, but they're kinda awkward since he doesn't really know the lyrics to most of the songs.
It's after the third drink he has he decides to attempt one more time and just go with the flow. Lyrics be damned, right? It's the attitude that matters.
The song of choice is a very upbeat one that he mostly improvises the words with. Except at the end he's getting pretty good at the chorus at least??
Either way, he had fun, that's what matters and for the rest of the evening he's just gonna hang out unless someone asks for a duet or something. Also he's switching to water, just in case.
(and yes, that link is actually his voice actor)
today i learned jean has the same voice actor as chuuya bsd
[Evangeline hasn't been having alcohol at all - she needs her self-restraint in front of the kids! - but she's plenty buzzed on the atmosphere.]
Do a duet with me!
