happy birthday, how much more can you take?
WHO: Rinku, Evangeline, everyone who knows the latter even a little
WHAT: Evangeline birthday party number 1: The SFW One
WHEN: February 8
WHERE: Shining Karaoke
WARNINGS: None so far, this is the clean party.
Rinku had booked out the biggest room at the karaoke bar for the entire night. Everyone who had so much as an acquaintanceship with Evangeline was invited, so it might get a little crowded even so. The machines had just been updated with songs from all over, allowing everyone to sing whatever they wanted – though maybe holding off on the inappropriate ones would be good, at least while the kids were awake.
Pizza had been trucked in, many different kinds. Of course they had plenty of pepperoni mushroom, the birthday girl’s favourite, but Rinku had also ordered everything from cheese to spinach feta to spicy pepper, shrimp and mayo, dill pickle, and a heavy, topping-laden one just labelled ALL. If there’s one you want, it’s probably there. Drinks were available to order from the bar, including all kinds of non-alcoholic options. Cake and ice cream also came in by request; the cake is a large chocolate one with an abstract creature that the cake decorator clearly thought constituted a “cool monster” on it.
Karaoke, discussion, food, presents at a table at the room door... what else did a party need?

[Unlike faeries, who can spend hundreds of years staying exactly the same... if left to their own devices.]

[Evangeline stretches up on her toes and kisses Barghest's cheek. That'll have to do - there are kids at this party after all.]
The you now is the best Servant I could ask for.

[Barghest would return the gesture, but it would require bending down and around in a truly awkward fashion to manage, so she doesn't.]

I don't know, it still makes me happy to hear you say it.

I don't know, I think I've said it often enough for you to get the picture by now. Do I really need to keep saying it?
no subject
I mean, it's not the end of the world if you don't, don't feel obligated to or anything... but it's nice to hear...

You're so sweet to me, I don't know why I panicked for a second.

[Barghest has a feeling she knows exactly when this "later" will be... she's not complaining.]

I'll be merciful. Probably.

[Barghest kneels down to whisper in Evangeline's ear.]
Please, don't go easy on me. I humbly request that you do your worst.
[She stands back up and smiles down at her Master.]
Was that clearer?

Crystal.
We'd better change the subject, there's kids here.

[She looks around, clearly trying to find something else to talk about.]
Oh! I haven't said it yet, so, happy birthday.
