[Jean's been "home" for a while ever since meeting Eren. He had sent a text to Mikasa earlier about seeing him, but after not getting an answer back right away, he assumes she had managed to find him too. And he doesn't want to nor won't disturb their reunion. It's been years since Mikasa's seen him so she deserves her moments alone with him.

Besides, he had a puppy distraction as Hazel was eager to play with him. Mostly tug wars, due to being inside, but it was still fun.]

Maybe once Mikasa comes back we can go check Blossomcrown's park together. If not today, then tomorrow at least, depending on how she feels.

[It's hard to predict how their reunion would go, especially with the way Eren felt different. He hoped well. Otherwise he'd have to plot murder.]

Mukuro I, Hijikata - Gacha restaurant, sometime after their trip and Eren showing up

[It had been Jean that had called Mukuro and Hijikata to meet at the Gacha restaurant. It was actually a rather ironic place to meet considering who he had run into there, but he happened to be hungry and still curious about it.

Sadly, his luck with the gacha machine had rewarded him with a 1-star steak that was... very bland. And the sidedishes were very minimal too. He'd eat it, but it was a very bad first experience with the restaurant.

Maybe he should at least wait for Hijikata so he could drop all the mayo on the dish. Maybe that would make it at least taste something.]

[Just to make Jean feel even worse about his luck, Mukuro had lucked out- once she'd made her order for a light lunch, the machine made a celebratory jingle as it delivered her a beautiful mosaic box of 5* quality sushi. She couldn't help her eyes going wide, and for a moment she even forgot exactly why she'd been called here as she carefully, carefully took it to the table and sat down.

...It only made Jean's meal look even sadder, in comparison, when she looked between the two, and couldn't help but feel a little bad about that.]

[Hijikata, of course, does arrive with his mayonnaise, and as if to make up for Mukuro's luck he rolls a 2-star meal, a barely mediocre smallish pizza with overly crispy anchovies and slightly burned peppers. Naturally he covers it completely in half the contents of his jar (he still hasn't found mayonnaise in bottles).]

Jean, you don't look happy. Maybe we should've picked a different place.

[He offers the rest of the mayonnaise to his friends.]

[That sure was a fancy sushi plate. At least it was interesting to see a 1-star and a 5-star meal next to each other. If they'd just be the same meal it would have been even funny. Now he wondered what a 1-star sushi box looked like.]

But this was the first time Jean actually takes some of the offered mayonnaise to put on his steak. Miracles do happen! Is this the start of appreciating mayonnaise? (to be continued)]

[Jean has accepted the mayonnaise, it was all over for him... but in any case, the more important factor was whatever he'd called her for.]

[Her expression grew more serious. If he'd run into trouble, she was ready to be deployed immediately.]

[Hijikata could tell the others that got a job as a traffic cop and his horse wouldn't allow him on its back the entire first day, leading to him working on foot in Dayrise and having to handle multiple situations, but he isn't really in the mood to relive all the aggravation, so why not deal with Jan's problem first?]

[At least Mukuro had a decent time. That's one out of the three of them. Well, Jean's time hasn't really been bad, but there's the one thing.]

Someone from our world arrived here. An ally, but... he's from the future and the one person of my friends who makes me want to punch him on the face.

[Another day of practicing her new magic in Dayrise, though Raya has her whip sword with her too. It might be helpful here, who knows, or she might find some sparring partners for that later.

First her full attention is looking at Sisu, who is amazing at her new magic already and adorable as always with showing it to other people too. Raya included, of course, but she should be ... Trying her own. Why can't she be Winter like Sisu? That would be cute! They could learn together. But no, she's the opposite of it with her fire powers because that's what Summer is, apparently, she knows that much by now at least even though she's not very good with it. Yet. They just got here, she's never had magic, though she is excited about it.

What she is NOT excited about is-- seeing a certain young man in the area as soon as she stops looking at Sisu and walks a little further away from the most adorable dragon ever to try her own magic.

JEAN! Tch. Raya huffs quietly.

. . . Maybe he doesn't even remember Avalon. It's possible. It's also not impossible that he remembers. Don't mind a possibly stranger glaring at you, Jean, she sure as hell hasn't forgotten anything from Avalon but she'll let him be if he clearly doesn't recognize her.]

[Since Jean was coming over here to practice his magic he only had his sword with him ... just in case. However, even if seeing an actual dragon is alarming, he doesn't draw it. He is cautious, but it's quickly apparent that this dragon was friendly and was helping someone learn magic. So he relaxed.

For ten seconds.

His eyes fall on Raya who seems to be glaring at him.

A dragon. Raya. Their conversations and fights in Avalon.

And he can't even pretend like he didn't see Raya.

[ OHHH. He obviously recognizes her too. And he's also looking at Sisu before that...]

[Yeah, hi, Jean. Looks and sounds like Raya still hates him. She draws her whip sword out.]

She's my dragon and people like YOU aren't allowed to even glance at her!!

[Okay, Sisu is a lot of things including Raya's best (dragon) friend, her dragon friend, her hope, her everything else... My dragon isn't inaccurate from Sisu's girl Raya either, it's not like Sisu would even mind being called that.

Jean can either dodge, try to defend himself with his sword or ... run... because she is about to attack / start another fight once again.]

[Fuck. This was a bad turn for a day. The moment Raya addresses him, he's taking his sword out because he knows where this is headed -- and he's completely right, blocking Raya's first attack at him with the sword.

He's not planning on fighting with her, but he'll at least try and see if he can talk some sense into her.]

Woah! I'm allowed to look at anything I want, but I wasn't plan on approaching or anything at all! Will you just let the fucking past rest!

[It's not like Jean had been avoiding Hijikata when he revived. No, he had just wanted to avoid the reunion and maybe give him some space.

But eventually he does call Hijikata over to the Dayrise colosseum under the cuise of wanting to train with him. Well, he does want to train, but he also needs to simply just vent.

Jean's already there, with his sleeves pulled up, punching the air and making fire appear with each punch. He's started to get a hang of fire by now.]

[Hijikata arrives looking exactly as goddamn cocky as he did on the night he got himself killed. The truth is, he learned various lessons from his wholly avoidable and unnecessary demise, but he's all the more determined to leave the incident behind him as soon as possible! He grins as he walks up to Jean.]

Nice fireballs, but are you sure you want to spar with me? I levelled up quite a bit since the last time!

[When even was the last time they sparred?]

[There he is, being all smug again. Not a good thing when Jean's annoyed already. So he glares at Hijikata.]

Sure didn't look like it, when you died like you did.

[Ouch. Hijikata should have seen it coming, but somehow he was hoping that relief over how well everything turned out in the end would have softened Jean's mood. He'd love to tell him that nobody can always look cool and that there need to be messy and stupid arcs in between the badass and cool ones, but Jean isn't a fourth-wall-breaker, so he refrains from saying that.]

I admittedly miscalculated that a little, but it wasn't a big setback. I didn't lose levels or anything!

[So now he does break the fourth wall after all?!]

[Good thing about Jean being angry is that he's very much ignoring any 4th wall breaking stuff! The bad thing is that's he's angry. Which is why he faces Hijikata properly and approaches.]

You didn't just miscalculate. You completely ignored the fact that we're no longer in Avalon. Wisps and other creatures that we met there are completely different here! Hell, I wouldn't even be surprised if even a normal bunny would come up to you and bite your leg off!

[He's raised his voice, because boy is he annoyed.]

[What can he say to that? Jean's right, and he should have known better. He was just so eager to be ahead of everyone else in some way, to prove himself capable and worthy of a better title than 'Officer'. It's been unsetting how weak he's been feeling after realising that he's surrounded by gods and demigods and mythical beings at their full power.

But that's an embarrassing reason, a childish reason, so he just stays quiet and accepts Jean's words instead of trying to further make light of his mistake. Maybe Jean will feel calmer once he's gotten it out of his system.]

Mikasa ♥ hurt/comfort: cw for death talk, titan world things

[After he's done with the network, Jean really finds a corner of the room to sink into. Mikasa's out with the dogs, giving them a walk, leaving Jean alone in the apartment with their cat, Sakura who is... unsure what to do, but she settles down near him anyway.

Jean doesn't really pay attention to her. Or to anything. Instead he raises his hands up to his ears and covers them. It doesn't really do anything, but it comforts him to some level.

As if he could block the memories from his head. Of the day in Trost, when he first saw titans and saw them kill the comrades he trained with. Of all the deaths he'd seen back home. As if he could block the feeling that he was useless in being able to prevent yet another death. Even if this was the first one he had seen in years, he still felt the memories creep into his mind.

This world was different from both Empatheias and Avalon. Was he going to experience this feeling more often again? Was he going to lose people he cared about? Would he be made to make decision that might lead to some people he's responsible to die?

[Mikasa returns with the dogs after a long walk, or more like some walking and a lot of running, and the dogs run off to find Jean even before her. Oh, guess that means he's (still) home.

Snow comes to find her soon after finding Jean, while Mikasa is almost finished with taking her outdoor clothes off. What? She kicks her shoes away and follows the husky to his... Hiding corner?

Not her first time seeing something like this, she's pretty sure it won't be the last time either. Something new here or something old from home triggering memories? Or it could be a mix of both, actually it's most likely a mix.]

Jean?

[Make some room, she's coming to that corner too to embrace him.]

[Once Mikasa is there, Sakura gently bumps her head into her and then goes to join Snow and Hazel. Mikasa was here, she could leave Jean to her.

Jean had vaguely noticed the dogs returning but it's only when he hears Mikasa's voice he's properly back in the room instead of his own thoughts. The moment Mikasa's next to him he clings to her instead of covering his own ears, desparate for the warmth and security her touch brings him.]

... ... Hi... Hijikata died...

[He manages to say before needing to swallow and take a deep breathe.] Something... ate him. He was filming a video and I saw.

[At first it didn't sink in. He was mostly mad at Hijikata. Mocking him, even. Then it sink in that he's seen what happened before. Happening before his eyes. Back home. Years ago.]

[Jean can cling to her as much as he needs to, Mikasa hugs him even tighter and pets his arm and back to try to comfort him.

Ah... She hates being right. Or no, on the other hand at least it gave her some idea of what he might be about to say even if she's still not expecting that. Who'd be expecting that?

.... What is she even supposed to say to that? Is she even supposed to say anything to that? She's still the worst at this.]

Been a long time since we saw that in front of our eyes.

[Mikasa is the solid rock he needs right now and a perfect comfort for him. Someone who could hold him steady and pet him to make him feel more comfortable. It was slowly working, even if he would likely be like this for a while.

But at least the had the rock from Avalon that would keep nightmares at bay.]

... some sort of a wisp. Or at least a monster that was... partially a wisp. I have never seen anything like that.

[Not that he saw much of the monster when Hijikata was already gone. It wasn't gory. There was no blood at all like back home. He was just gone in an instant. Yet it was powerful enough to bring out the memories that were always there, even if he didn't think about them actively.]

Mukuro and... Todoroki are going to the yard... to wait for him. I can't.

[Jean can take all the time he needs, Mikasa is not going anywhere from him.]

New world. All the new species to get to know whether it's monsters or harmless animals or harmless flowers... And new ones showing up too.

[That's another way to tell that no one should be a fucking idiot and think they know what they are dealing with when it can be an entirely different thing here.]

And there's nothing wrong with not going there, when everyone has their own way of dealing with... Everything, it's not like anyone can tell whose way is the right or wrong way.
