[Which was a boon much of the time for his occupation. But not in situations like this where medicinals were just always this side of awful smelling and tasting. But he had expected it, nonetheless.

He sighed softly, carefully reaching for his bag to pull out a fresh orange he procured earlier. The first dose was going to be taken immediately, but the remainder would be at home.]

I'm sure a slice of fruit afterwards wouldn't change your concoction, Mr. Baizhu. Would you like some?

I guess if even the trees have rainbows, then it's probably the water. The fish all have different colours and even taste different based on them.

[ Though Lark says this in the way of someone who like, doesn't actually know much science, at least in this respect. He's kind of just throwing out what came to mind. ]

Tea, coffee, hot chocolate... Or a combination of the latter two, if you like. I've found it to be to my liking.

[Of course Diluc, a lover of sweet things, would enjoy chocolate in his coffee. He looks over to Kaeya with a smile as he comes closer and then, seemingly entirely on impulse, heads over to him and snags him around his waist to pull him in for a quick kiss.]

You're getting quite handy with that thing, aren't you. [The phone that is. Neither of them are ignorant of kamera technology but that really is something else.]

We should be ready for you to take some inside shots soon.

Huh?

[One of E'kayan's ears twitches then swivels around, followed by the rest of him, and he grins a little as he sees Jean standing there.]

Oh, yeah! This is Nao. She came here along with me, somehow... [He smiles again, though the expression is smaller this time, as he reaches up to gently pat the side of the large black-feathered bird's beak.] Seems to have settled in fine. Don't think she minds as long as I'm here.

[Kaeya didn't have the same voracious sweet tooth that Diluc had, but he enjoyed sweets well enough. Chocolate in coffee though... hm, he hadn't tried. He also couldn't help the suddenly blush coloring his cheeks when he was kissed unexpectedly.

He decided to try and hide it by pulling his phone out again to show the pictures he just took.]

Ah - well, Albedo's been... encouraging me to keep improving. [He scratched a still pink cheek.] Even gifted me a kamera for my birthday.

[He hadn't used it too much yet, largely because he had yet to figure out how to transfer the photos onto his phone but also because he was a bit indecisive of when to use it versus the convenient of having a camera in one's back pocket.]

So, I'll try that hot chocolate coffee if you have some dark chocolate to use.

Ah--...

[Ah, it's him.

Edmond looks momentarily flustered, but then he nods in half acknowledgement and half agreement.]

Whatever you think is best. I'll make ready, don't hold back.

Ah? Yes, certainly. It would be my pleasure.

[Baizhu tends to keep his diet quite simple when he can, and while he doesn't often share food with other people it's usually more through not having the opportunity than not wanting to. He smiles as he walks over and sits near to the Viera, waiting to be handed a slice of the orange.]

Now, you must try to keep yourself out of harms way until you're fully mended.

[He delivers this warning in the gently chiding tone of a doctor.]

I can give you all the medicine in the world, but it isn't going to help if you're getting into fights.

Hmm, you might be right.

[Beautiful scenery, and good company to boot? Guizhong has no complaints about her current situation and after shooting Skylark a smile, she flops onto her back and stretches her arms out over her head.]

Have you tried the fish? What a funny thing. I might try to catch some.

[His nails easily dug into the skin to peel, the pads of his fingers keeping a good grip until it was all neatly peeled. He carefully pulled a slice to hand to Baizhu with an unamused expression on his face.]

Gleaners do not get into fights. Not purposefully, in any case.

[He took a breath and then quickly downed the concoction that the good doctor created. With a grimace, he popped an orange slice into his mouth shortly after. Ugh, so bitter.]

Getting into fights is my partner's job.

( Being new, Serah thinks it's only prudent that she and Mog check as much out as they can. It's taken a few days, true, but she finally makes her way over to Amberfall, attention captivated by the surroundings and the pleasant temperatures (she was checking out the summer parts of the city yesterday - this is far better for walking). )

Mog, look! ( The amount of art on display here is wonderful, and oh she's going to spend a lot of time at those bookshops and cafes. She doesn't even notice how they've wandered all the way out towards the stables until— )

... Eh?

( She knows that noise! But what's a chocobo doing here? Her feet have her running in the direction of the sound before she even has a chance to think twice. Something familiar, something that might, just maybe, mean that someone she knows is here?

It seems not. The swelling in her chest deflates like a balloon at the end of a party, but her disappointment is quickly hidden under a soft smile of greeting at the man next to the black bird. )

You have a really pretty chocobo.

( As openers go, it could be worse, right? )

[ Lark watches Guizhong lie down on the grass, and after a moment he sits next to her. ]

I have, yeah. I fish here sometimes.

Alright, here we go!

[He starts off with a salve of fireballs, but if Edmond has an easy time with those, he'll add a handful of fire swords coming down at him from above!]

Albedo has? Good.

[Though he and Albedo had never had much reason to cross paths he thinks the man a reasonable, well-to-do enough sort and doesn't even blink at the idea that Kaeya would be associating with him casually.

He moves on from that, arching a brow at the drink request.]

Dark chocolate... I can try it, but you might find it bitter.

[He knows that Kaeya does not have quite the sweet tooth that he does, but, hmm... Well, if it doesn't work he can always re-make it.]

( It's been way too long since Serah's had an excuse, or even a chance, to visit a bath like this. She shakes off the guilt pangs — the parts of her which say its wrong to be enjoying a relaxing bath, to be living as if life is normal — with reminders that she alone can't fast forward Ellipsa's problems and send herself back to Pulse in a matter of days.

She has to take her time. And breaks are just as important as hard work.

So, she walks in, towel wrapped around herself, and finds that it's quiet but for one other young woman. )

Oh-- Sure. ( Well, at least she seems friendly! ) Thank you.

Your partner? A rough and tumble sort, are they?

[There's a fond tone about Baizhu's words as he says that, taking the orange slice and popping it into his mouth after he speaks. His teeth close over it, the sweet-sour taste of citrus flooding his mouth, and he let out a soft 'hmm' of approval.]

And just what manner of profession is a 'gleaner'?

[While the doctor does not often ask personal questions like this (owing to his own preference for privacy and the likelihood that he would not reciprocate with answers), he has found himself becoming slightly more open while he has been in this place. Just slightly.]

[A fond tone is returned as he answered, peeling off another slice of orange to hand to the doctor before taking one for himself.]

Gleaners are scholars. We are out in the field to research and procure specimens if and when needed. My particular specialty is live specimen, although that is not normally the case here.

[There are very few he has needed to get overall as many are gathered by adventurers. So, Erenville largely stuck to the flora, rather than the fauna, this time.]

[Mira knows keeping Ramie healthy meant making sure he got some good exercise. It also helps people become less afraid due to his particular...tendency to hurl meteors. But Ramie hasn't done that in awhile! So when she spots her friend and his bird, Mira can't help but call out-]

Oh! We both had the same thought!

[Ramie, right beside Mira quietly kwehs a greeting as she holds up some greens for him to munch on.]

Been doing alright there?

[Though he hears someone come in he doesn't really pay too much attention (save for a small flick of one ear) until he hears the young woman's voice. E'kayan turns around with a crooked, friendly grin and gives said chocobo a gentle pat on the beak.]

She is, right?

[It's a good opener. The Miqo'te is an easygoing sort who enjoys talking, for the most part, and there are definitely worse things to talk about than his very beloved chocobo.]

Glad she's here with me. Her name's Nao. [He looks up at her again as she gently nudges his head in response to her name.] Haha. Been thinking I've not been taking her out enough. She needs to stretch her legs.

[And then, as if the sight only just sunk in, his gaze falls on--]

That's a moogle.

Oh, no! Not at all. I just couldn't help but notice you were using both earth and fire magic. I was under the impression that we were only given one seasonal power.

[Kisara didn't mind the blunt tone. She was a stranger to him and she was interrupting his training. Still, since it was apparent she hadn't startled him by accident, her shield dispersed.]

So, is that something that we gain through training? Additional elements and such?

[Kisara couldn't help the relieved smile on her face, the other woman making her feel quite at ease as she stepped toward the steaming baths in nothing but a towel covering her body. While Kisara wasn't exactly nervous being around naked people, it wasn't the norm for her either.

Still, after all the traveling she had done with the others, public bathing (when the boys weren't around, anyway) had become common. So, with a nod, she stepped towards the edge and unwrapped the towel from her muscled frame and folded it neatly to the side before stepping into the heated waters.

She sighed softly as it eased her overworked body from training.]

[Not that he was sure if Diluc's taste has changed, but he remembered their father bringing some home when they were children and Diluc finding it completely disgusting while Kaeya practically inhaled the treat.]

Besides, coffee is already on the bitter side depending on the blend. I can sweeten it with some cream and sugar if need be. Come on, let's see if you can do it.

[He gave a playful grin and leaned his elbows on the counter.]

[He takes the second offered slice but doesn't eat it immediately, just holding it loosely in his hand.]

Are you doing that kind of work here as well?

[Because consider his interest well and truly piqued.]

Ooh, really? I haven't gone fishing in an age...

[And given how old Guizhong is, it's really down to interpretation whether or not she means that literally.]

It sounds like it could be fun. We should do that some time, what do you think?

[Guizhong just nods, friendly and polite, and scoots over a little to make some more room should the newcomer be not entirely comfortable with sharing the baths with a stranger.]

I like it best here at this time. Not many people come in.

[Her nose wrinkles slightly as she smiles.]

So it could just be the two of us. I'm Guizhong.

[The shield that appears around Edmond as the fireballs come flying his way is clearly not a product of any power he has gained in Ellipsa. It's a shimmering bubble of light that surrounds him, knocking back each missile that hits it with a ringing shimmer on each impact.

Inside it, Edmond watches Hijikata with a calm, steadfast expression.]

Good. Something bigger.
