[In the mid-afternoon most days, Diluc can be found in one of the buildings just off one of the main shopping streets in Sunwaning with the doors thrown open and the sound of construction coming from inside. He and Kaeya managed to scrape together the money for this place together and have been patching it up and renovating it for a few months now, undertaking most of the work themselves.. A year ago he would have never thought that this was where he’d end up following their abduction (and he does still call it that) to Ellipsa, but as the months have gone by…

Well, he wouldn’t admit that he’d grown settled, but maybe that he feels less resentful.

Anyone who knows Diluc or Kaeya would know about their work here by now, and anyone passing by would be able to clearly see what was going on inside. The place looks to be being set up as a coffee shop, with most of the fixtures and fittings in place, and the two of them have worked very hard on it (with some occasional help from their friends!)

If anyone walks in, or he notices someone curious hanging around outside one of the open doors, Diluc is quick to straighten up and wave them over.]

Come in, if you like. We’re not officially open yet but I can make you a drink.

[Kaeya stepped into better view at one of the windows, still outside and still holding his phone as he was attempting to get a good shot of the cafe from the outside, but he waved at the redhead through the window. He has been posting updates on Ellipsagram and this was going to just be another update.

He took a few shots and then pocketed the phone, stepping into the cafe. His hair was up in a much higher ponytail today and his wore one of Diluc's long sleeved shirts, although the sleeves were rolled up the hide the fact that they didn't quite reach his wrists.]

I could use a hot drink though? What do we have?

[He could hardly say no to the idea of a large open space where he might be able to indulge the more destructive aspects of both his season and his pyro Vision.

And so, anyone who ventures near to him might get a show of him practicing raising earth pillars,splitting and reforming the ground, or moving rocks via telekinesis. Alternatively, there are walls of fire and bursts of hot flames, and the occasional flash of a phoenix swooping through the air.

It’s probably better - safer to approach him from behind… but just be ready to move quickly if you manage to startle him.]

[It was the fact that the young man was using two elements that got Kisara's attention. She was dressed in her full armor as she made her way over to the young man. It was clearly the safer option to approach from behind, but it was clear he was very concentrated on his magic practice.

Kisara considered how to approach without startling him. She knew tapping him in the shoulder was out of the question. She settled on simply calling out to him, although she had her shield ready just in case.]

Mm… no, not that.

[Baizhu splits his time between the research centre and the small apothecary that he has opened in Sunwaning. The latter is simply a natural progression of his profession - of course he would do something like that when the purpose of his existence is the betterment and healing of others - but the former..?

The former is something he has only alluded to on the network in his search for volunteers who might further his research. In the research centre he puts the advanced technology and almost unrestrained access to information from multiple worlds to use in his pursuit of immortality, examining the samples left to him by some very generous individuals to try and discover what makes them special.

Each one is different, and then different to his own blood besides. He mutters to himself between making notes while Changsheng watches him bustling back and forth. When someone walks in, however, she’s quick to speak up.]

Perssssuade him to take a break, would you? He’s going to collapssse soon.

[SUNWANING] APOTHECARY

[In Sunwaning, Baizhu has set up a small apothecary at the top end of a market street. When he isn’t in the research centre or otherwise engaged he can be found there, selling various things to anyone who comes in searching for some more traditional medicine. Despite his evident poor health Baizhu greets everyone who walks into the building with a smile, seeing to their needs and making sure nothing is missed.

For those with more complex illnesses, he might ask for a list of symptoms and come up with something special to give to them on the spot. If it’s a particularly unique malady… well, he might just kindly suggest that anyone like that step into a back room with him for an assessment.

Immediately on entering the shop the scent of dried herbs hangs lightly on the air. Behind the counter the wall is stacked almost entirely with small, carefully labelled drawers. The doctor seems to know the contents of each of them without looking, able to put tonics together based only on what a client tells him.

He will warn, though…]

This is probably going to taste rather bitter.

[Baizhu does have some remedies for that, if it’s a problem.]

[While Erenville was more or less fully recovered, the ache was still there. The wound was closed fully so there was no need for any more magic or stitches or anything to do but simply continue taking it easy. It was really the pain and the recovering of blood loss that contained to linger.

So, Erenville had become a bit of a regular for a different reason than delivering herbs for the apothecary's supply.

And his nose currently was twitching and crinkling in that rabbit-like way that he refused to admit was rabbit-like. He even unconsciously leaned back slightly in his seat.]

...it smells bitter even from here.

Guizhong ◈ Genshin Impact

Ooh, don’t worry, you can sit over here.

[Guizhong has very little shame when it comes to her physical appearance and she would wholly encourage that same outlook in anybody else! She hadn’t needed to be told to discard her towel on the way in and had done so immediately, but she’s not going to judge anyone else if they prefer a bit more modesty.

But, for the sake of perhaps saving someone from loitering around too long if they look like they’re at a loss (either for a spot to sit or simply that they don’t want to be entirely naked in public) she’ll scoot herself over a bit and pat the top of the water in the spot beside her.]

Come on, then, no need to be shy.

( It's been way too long since Serah's had an excuse, or even a chance, to visit a bath like this. She shakes off the guilt pangs — the parts of her which say its wrong to be enjoying a relaxing bath, to be living as if life is normal — with reminders that she alone can't fast forward Ellipsa's problems and send herself back to Pulse in a matter of days.

She has to take her time. And breaks are just as important as hard work.

So, she walks in, towel wrapped around herself, and finds that it's quiet but for one other young woman. )

Oh-- Sure. ( Well, at least she seems friendly! ) Thank you.

[Kisara couldn't help the relieved smile on her face, the other woman making her feel quite at ease as she stepped toward the steaming baths in nothing but a towel covering her body. While Kisara wasn't exactly nervous being around naked people, it wasn't the norm for her either.

Still, after all the traveling she had done with the others, public bathing (when the boys weren't around, anyway) had become common. So, with a nod, she stepped towards the edge and unwrapped the towel from her muscled frame and folded it neatly to the side before stepping into the heated waters.

She sighed softly as it eased her overworked body from training.]

[SPRING SEGMENT] PRISM LAKE

[She’s been enchanted by the lake since the first time she saw it and if she gets the time she will make her way there just to sit at the edge of the water and watch the rainbows dancing in the air.]

How do you suppose this works?

[Guizhong may ask this question of anyone who gets close enough, especially if they seem as taken by the view as she is.]

I would say it was merely the reflection of the sun on the crystals in the water, but it wouldn’t account for it all.

[Her creative mind always working, she would very much like to know just how this place is so… rainbow-y. Even the leaves on the trees have rainbows, and that can’t be anything to do with the crystal! So, something in the water itself, perhaps?]

It is very lovely, whatever it is.

I guess if even the trees have rainbows, then it's probably the water. The fish all have different colours and even taste different based on them.

[ Though Lark says this in the way of someone who like, doesn't actually know much science, at least in this respect. He's kind of just throwing out what came to mind. ]

Neuvillette ❖ Genshin Impact

[Neuvillette has never minded the cold. When it comes to weather preferences, though rain is certainly his favourite, he has always disliked hot temperatures and finds the chill of the cooler areas surrounding Nightwake to be far more to his taste.

The observatory has become one of his favourite spots and somewhere that he can be found frequenting often on clear nights, quietly looking up at the unfamiliar constellations.

After he has been there for a few hours it always seems to cloud over and often starts raining, even if rain wasn’t forecast or expected at all. It doesn’t seem to bother Neuvillette, however. Once the downpour starts he will simply sit in it, looking out over the few rather than up at the sky.]

[AMBERFALL] LIBRARY ARCHIVES

[It only stands to reason that someone so well-accustomed to bureaucracy would find a place working at the Amberfall library. Neuvillette has very quickly made his name in the archives of the building, bringing everything under a strict filing system and ensuring that no potentially important piece of information goes astray. Though some of the other employees sometimes bemoan his strict methods none of them can deny that the stern, softly-spoken man gets results.

If somebody is looking for something, Neuvillette can find it. Or, alternatively, he can be found on an occasional break. Though, admittedly, it might be difficult to tell when Neuvillette is on a break.

He’s still not the best with the whole idea of taking time for himself, even if the work he is doing now is easier by far than the kind of things he was dealing with back home.

Should he happen to notice someone trying to catch his eye he looks to them with a mild smile.]

[In the Summer guild, Edmond has been spending some time adjusting to some new abilities gained from home alongside the emergence of some additional memories. He approaches someone else politely, waiting until a natural break in what they’re doing before speaking up.]

I’m trying to test something. Would you be opposed to taking a few shots at me?

[It’s an odd thing to ask, perhaps, but he does have a good reason!]

[They meet again! Hijikata has just finished a round of sparring with his Emboar, and he and the pokémon are both taking a break and drinking some water. He immediately looks ready to have a go at Edmond, though!]

Sure thing. What do you need me from me? Fire? Or something else?

[WINTER SEGMENT] FROZEN LAKE

[If anyone happens by the frozen lake at any time during the day they may hear the sound of a young man’s singing voice drifting over the ice and through the chilly air. Following the sound would eventually lead them to Edmond, his eyes closed and one hand on his chest, brow softly furrowed as he sings out an ancient melody from his home world.

One that he had only recently learned, and yet still cannot get out of his mind.

He’s absorbed enough in his singing that he may not notice somebody approaching until they get close enough to be able to startle him. Be it by a misplaced crunch in the snow or a tap on his arm, if startled he immediately stops singing and turns bright red in embarrassment.

Though, someone finding him there may just want to watch him instead.]

E'kayan Tia ◈ Final Fantasy XIV

[BLOSSOMCROWN] BOTANICAL GARDEN

[Whether it’s with Erenville or without him, one of E’kayan’s favourite places is the botanical gardens in Blossomcrown. He’ll visit there often just to walk around, or sit somewhere until he’s covered in butterflies, or he’ll go from one section of plants to another and scribble a couple of lines in drunk-spider scrawl into a notebook.

Occasionally he will linger in the shop, thoughtfully looking at the plants and mulling over which one he might purchase.]

I do like that one… but it’ll probably be too cold.

[The fact they split everything by segment is great, but it still doesn’t keep him from wondering if he can keep plants from warmer or colder climates alive in spite of their preferences in conditions.]

[AMBERFALL] STABLES

Tch, come on, don’t be like that.

[A noisy kweh calls out over the stables, followed by a couple of stomps of large bird feet and the ruffling of feathers. E’kayan is standing with one hand on his hip, trying to soothe a large, black chocobo as it fusses and tries to nudge its way past him.]

We’re going out today! I promise. I’m sorry I’ve been keeping you cooped up.

[The animal kwehs again, but lowers its head and gently butts the top of its large beak against E’kayan’s shoulder. He lets out a little ‘oof’ and then laughs quietly, rubbing one of his hands against the chocobo’s feathered neck.]

We’re gonna run until you’re sick of it, okay?
