Event #1: Welcome, Adventurers

Welcome, Adventurers
LOGS | NETWORK | OOC | MEMES | NAVIGATION
A new message on everyone's smartphones says that all the Guilds are finally open for business! Instructions on how to get to each one of them are sent with the message.
Each Season has their own Guild (Winter in Frostreign, Spring in Blossomcrown, Summer in Solarpeak and Autumn in Amberfall). Originally they were formed when the world was thriving and the natives were power holders, now they serve a purpose for aiding Otherworlders.
Although there are some aesthetic differences, all of the guilds have the same basic layout, which the newcomers are given a tour of:
The main floor is for information, containing computers that are connected between all guilds. Using them brings up holographic boards which contain information on each of the segments, with a focus on their home segment. You can find out here what the weather is like in each segment, what quests are available, an explanation on how the Flower Yards work, and even a list of powers that have been discovered and how to practice them.
The second floor is a place to go for combat practice, or just practice using your powers. There are simulators here that can be used to create a space to test your skills against virtual monster opponents or against other power holders, all with safety precautions to keep anyone from being injured.
The third and final floor is meant for relaxation and provides a temporary place to nap when necessary. Those who do quests on a regular basis will receive a key that opens their own, personal room for relaxation that can be customized as much as they want. It's void pocket space that doesn't appear unless the specific key is used or the owner invites someone in from the inside.
It's also the floor where the leaders of the guild have their own private space in that's a restricted area. They have their public office there as well.
However, the power holders are expecting everyone outside, in the backyard of the Guilds...
The main event of the opening day of the guilds is a lesson on how to become more attuned with your new elemental magic. Some characters may already feel comfortable with them, but the Power Holders wish to help anyone who might still feel like they're struggling.
Behind the guilds there is big open space. A yard meant for lessons like this. Each of the power holders is own their own stage (even Sawyer, who seems rather reluctant to be there) and announces the name of the lesson: Elemental Dancing.
They explain each in their own way that dancing while focusing on their basic element is a way to start properly feeling the element. The dance can be anything, as long as their bodies are moving and they can feel their magical energy align with the element.
To demonstrate, they dance:
Olwen dances a slow dance that looks a little like ballet, with water flowing naturally around him and increasing in quantity as he goes.
Jade has a much quicker dance method, like she's dancing at a party and is surrounded by wind that sometimes helps her even jump higher.
Dawn's dance is a passionate belly dance accompanied by rings of fire around her that turns into a pink fire so she doesn't burn herself as the flames come closer to herself.
Sawyer, as reluctant as he, goes full breakdance with each of his tricks forming pillars of earth that he can use to dance even more.
Once their demonstration is over, they encourage new power holders to give it a try themselves and remind them that they can dance however they please. They also advise that the dances can be attempted with a partner, as long as they can learn to trust one another. Sometimes magic is far stronger when done together... but it may also backfire.
Anyone interested is encouraged to join their guild. The staff explains that it's very beneficial, as they would get access to the upper floors that just today were shown to them, and that nearby stores would give guild members discounts for potions and other such adventuring necessities.
Even without joining, all of the first floors services are available for everyone. That includes the questboard that is now on display, though it only shows four quests for now.
There are some necessary preparations still going on with the questboard itself, but the staff assures that later there will be more of them, with some permanent ones added to the mix that would help with making the Segments safer for those without powers to explore as well.
Why not find a friend and go out on an adventure together? The guild does recommend doing quests together with someone, rather than alone.
Well, except Sawyer of Autumn, if he's around. He will always encourage people to go on their own and claims it's an act of bravery. Oh, and make sure to check the Beastiary before heading out, once you've picked your targets!
The Quests [ Click to Expand ]
Quests
CW/TW: possible nudity, possible death
Name: Skeletal Mischief
Rewards: 100 Moon Coins per 2 Snowskeletons vanquished
Location: Winter Segment
Description: For some time Snowskeletons have bothered natives who visit the Flower Yard. Usually the only nearby place of peace has now become a nuisance to visit. Those who attempt it usually return to the city in just their underwear (if they’re lucky). A request has come for the guilds to get rid of the Snowskeletons near the Flower Yard in whatever means necessary.
OOC notes: Snowskeletons have two types: either they're snowmen made from bone or they're skeletons made of snow. Either way they're definitely not friendly and often disguise themselves among the snow to surprise their prey. They're not really out to kill anyone, but may sometimes accidentally do it. Instead they're looking to steal clothes and wear them. Basically they're notorious bandits.
CW/TW: mind altering
Name: That Very Big Tree
Rewards: 500 Moon Coins, Loot you find
Location: Spring Segment
Description: The researchers are curious about the “One Very Big Tree”. They want to know what the tree does and are asking people to take a look and report back what they find.
OOC notes: One Very Big Tree is hollow on the inside and looks like a big tree house. The higher someone climbs it the less they feel like they’re themselves. In fact, they will turn into the exact opposite of themselves. There are also dangerous Gale Squirrels living inside that use wind magic of their own to attack!
Reaching the top, however, will reward them with feathers of a mighty monstrous bird that can be used to enhance any weapon so that they fly back to the user's hand. Only one feather per character, magic stops them from taking more than one.
CW/TW: possible death, possible mind altering
Name: Treasure Ship
Rewards: 500 Moon Coins, any treasure they find
Location: Summer Segment
Description: “The abandoned ship in the Great Ocean Lake used to be a treasure ship! So why not go fetch the treasure? I’m sure it can be used to make some neat weapons or armor. I’d love to help do that, I’m an expert in using treasure for enhancements! But I’m not strong enough to go get them myself. The fastest route there is from the Airship Station!”
OOC notes: The ship is full of Octokitties that are cats with six to eight limbs. They’re territorial and won’t appreciate anyone coming to their ship for any reason and will attack viciously. They can also spit ink that includes side effects of going into a berserker mode and not caring who is an ally and who is an enemy. But the treasure is real.
CW/TW: eaten alive, death
Name: The Blue Flash
Rewards: 700 Moon Coins for finding a lost one*
Location: Autumn Segment
Description: “Help, my friend disappeared on our trip to visit the old lady of Autumn Airship Station. We walked outside to stretch our legs after our airship journey and then there was a blue flash in the corner of my eye and he was gone! Nothing at all remained and I was too scared to go look for him so I ran back inside. I’ve heard this isn’t the first time a blue flash has abducted someone!”
OOC notes: The reason for disappearances is the Angler Will-o'-the-wisps: Most will-o'-the-wisps are harmless, but there are types that act like anglerfish. They take the form of other monsters and toss a "fishing line" out of a dark bush to make it look like a normal will-o'-the-wisp was trying to get their attention. When the prey gets too close, they will attempt to devour them to get more soul energy. They have left their normal place in the forests and invaded some bushes around the Segment.
*Reward stays the same even for just figuring out the mystery behind disappearances.
Enhancing items is a magical specialty in Ellipsa. The power of words determines how your item of choice gets enchanted. If you're trying to make an armor stronger, it would be wise to use kind and encouraging words but a weapon might need violent and determined words. Enhancement include defense boosts, attack boosts, health stealing and even adding status effects. All of these effects aren't permanent, but they should last for at least a month before fading away.
The workshops around districts will offer teaching to anyone who is interested in learning the basics of basic item enhancement. For more advanced things (like learning to make the enhancements permanent) the natives suggests taking an apprenticeship in the Magical Manor of Amberfall or Tower of Potions of Coldreach. Especially with potions, as those are more advanced than what they are showing.
Of course, armor and weapons aren't the only things that can be enhanced anything is possible as long as it's a non-living thing.
A group of mischievous Imps are causing trouble. They're doing everything they can to make people angry (like dropping items on people's toes) as they try their magic. This could happen to anyone, even otherworlders testing their new magic.
Due to their mischief, a group of magical performers who were meant to enhance some animal statues to make them move around in a show ended up cursing a lot while the magic was happening. Because of that the animal statues did come to life, but they're angry and started running around, ramming into people left and right. It's especially alarming when one of the statues enhanced is a giant elephant, and some of the statues were meant to be used in a bullfighting show. Those are some very, very angry stone bulls coming at people in high speeds!
The natives don't want to break the statues, but they would like the statues to be stopped. With kind and loving words the effects of the curses will vanish and the statues will calm down and act like they were supposed to.
Of course they would appreciate catching as many Imps as possible so they could be returned back outside into the Summer Segment.

It takes a few seconds before Ayaka responds. He's not being a distraction to her, but she does need to get her mind in order. The breeze that starts to surround them isn't threatening like what the Gale Squirrels could summon. In fact, there's warmth and friendliness to it. ]
I do not think the wind is something you can control... [ Or channel, for that matter. She may not have an Anemo Vision, but she's heard enough from others like Kaedehara or the Traveler. It is an entity on its own, and it is free.
When she opens her eyes, there is a smile on her face. From beneath them and by their feet, the wind dances in circles, very, very slowly lifting them from the floor. If they add a bit more weight to their feet, the wind would bring them back down, but if Cloud doesn't fight it? He'll find himself about an inch off the ground. ]
I asked the wind for help.
no subject
Asking the wind for help... ]
Mm. [ He nods. ] I'll remember that.
[ And sure enough, as they return to climbing the stairs and reach the next floor, the Gale Squirrels seemingly haven't suspected them at all. Or if they have? They're not close enough in their field of territory yet. But they make nary a sound as Ayaka's spell keeps them afloat. And yet it feels like he's moving on solid ground. With nothing to disturb them. As they reach the level, there's a set of stairs on the far side leading higher up the tree. But in their way is more than just downed foliage and really old looking wooden furniture. Scattered and untouched...
A pair of Gale Squirrels forage in their path. ]
Nice and slow...
[ As he says this, a light frown marring his lips as he gets serious, he finally draws his Buster Sword, careful to not make any sudden movements or sounds as he calmly approaches with Ayaka. They're whisper silent thanks to their levitating off the ground. One big squirrel is inspecting an equally big nut.
He's not against bloodshed if they're hunting monsters and all, but...
Ayaka may notice that Cloud's wielding his Buster Sword a little differently from before. And that's because he's not aiming to swing to kill. More to stun. The less carnage they leave in their wake if they get into a fight, the less likely they'll have mobs of monsters following them. ]
no subject
But just before he makes another move? She places a finger over her lips to remind him to keep!! quiet!!
This will be good training for your movements as a student of the Kamisato Arts, Cloud. ]
no subject
Stop making commands look cute. JKALDFS]...
[ Sighing through his nose, he smiles lightly. Hopefully she's still got her mind reading powers, because if he could speak now, he'd have told her, "Yes ma'am."
Practicing the Kamisato Arts using the likes of the Buster Sword was a challenge...though not something he couldn't put into practice if he really tried hard enough. He's already committed to not killing the squirrels yet. Zack and Angeal would use the Buster Sword in a similar fashion, to prevent "wear, tear, and rust". It would hardly matter if he suddenly hit the ground at this stage, though Ayaka's wind protection still holds strong when he takes the initiative. This would be an uneventful exchange if they're lucky. ]
...
[ Deep breath, and, just as one of the Gale Squirrels perks its head up and looks in their direction?
Cloud has already surged forth. Looking like he was gliding across the surface of the level they ascended to, he strikes swiftly. Faster than anyone carrying a sword that huge should ever be able to. Once. Twice.
Thrice because Triple Slash demands it so. The oversized squirrels give off brief squeaks before they slump to the ground, twitching and stunned. The third slash was for the big nut. The swing had to go somewhere as it's sent flying across the room, rolling to a stop against the stairs leading up. ]
no subject
For now, Ayaka walks over to the next set of stairs, looking at the unconscious giant squirrels before looking back up. They'll probably encounter some more, if they're unlucky, but if they aren't as sharp as they've made themselves to be from this encounter? Then they probably won't have to do much fighting! ]
Let's move on.
[ Up, up, and away they goooooo ]
no subject
Nailed it- huh?
[ He could have sworn that he was thinking of saying something cool like, "Was never in doubt." but instead her felt an unusual burst of...giddiness?? He blinks, looking down at his hands for a moment before shaking his head as if to rid himself of cobwebs. ]
Right...
[ He didn't spot anything else worth noting on this floor anyways. However, that didn't mean they couldn't do a second check on the way down. They have to reach the top and report what they find. ]
no subject
[ And they're already a few ways up! Would they really find something more? Because if anything was worth protecting, maybe the squirrels would have been more aggressive...
Ayaka doesn't seem too worried, at least. She doesn't want to have a negative mindset, and she tries to lighten the mood as they go up by asking Cloud what he thinks could be up there! Treasure? Maybe not... But maybe there's a special thing that you can find by saying a magic word! Or by showing a trait that the tree finds worthy... or maybe Ayaka just reads too many books that her imagination's way out there.
When they're past the halfway mark? Ayaka doesn't seem to be tired yet. So that's good on her! And there's something... unusual with the way she tries to tell a story now. All the way up, it was an exchange of ideas, but after some of it? She's begun talking about the times she's gone up to the Grand Narukami Shrine... ]
Whenever I'm with Bosslady Yae, she always tell me to take some snacks home. But she never wants me to share with Ayato! He's my bro, though!
[ Nothing unusual is starting to happen here... ]
I don't think Ayato could ever piss anyone off like that...
no subject
My gosh... Based on the times I've met with Lady Yae, she doesn't seem like somebody you wish to get on the bad side of.
If it were me, I would still share it. [ A beat. ] It'd just be our little secret.
[ He doesn't even realize he's subtly winked as he looks back at Ayaka. It's not like he's forgotten who he was, or how he'd normally act. So, ]
Dear me. I think this is what they were implying back at the Guild. When they say that this tree changes you.
no subject
What's wrong, my man?
[ He didn't get hurt, did he? But when she looks at him as they walk up, she realises he seems a bit... more reserved? His movements are usually bigger than that! ]
S'not that bad, yeah? We'll probably be back to normal when we leave this place anyway.
[ Just. SLAPS HIM IN THE ASS. Let's hustle, boy!! ]
You don't gotta worry 'bout a thing!
no subject
O-Oh. My apologies. It just...caught me by surprise is all.
[ But Ayaka does bring up a solid point. All they need do is continue the climb! And thanks to her wind blessing on their feet, it actually gets rid of the issue with fatigue! Or at least, severely reduces it. ]
Eep—!!
[ Cloud just. STIFFENS.
NOT LIKE THAT.When she gives him a firm slap on the ass.The Ghost of Schnee's Past Has Possessed Her.]My... [ Did...Cloud like that? He's still blushing. /// ] With encouragement like that, how can I ever refuse?
Let us make haste to the top, my belle.
no subject
I don't feel tired yet. Is that weird?
[ They're just about to go up to the thirteenth floor by now. ]
We're almooooost there! We can probably be done before sundown!
no subject
And she's probably got the best cardio out of anyone I know!
[ Though despite the wind magic keeping their feet from hitting the steps fully, there is effort to be exerted. And it seems that Gale Squirrels haven't thought to come after them yet. Thirteen floors later...and there's a lot of stairs between them all. So this? Is coming close to the climb up Shinra tower. ]
Shall we prepare a celebratory dinner for a mission well accomplished, then?
no subject
[ Those are two different things, after all! Ayaka's gotta think about the menu for either now... ]
Maybe we should check out a hotpot place in the city. That might be fun! [ And since they're celebrating... ] Wanna have some drinks while we're at it?
no subject
[ At the mention of drinks...just because their personalities have shifted, doesn't mean their feelings have changed in the slightest. Cloud just sounds...softer. Sweeter now. More eloquent in his phrasing. It's almost like he's become shades of the best parts of him. All having to do with her. ]
I would love that. But...only if I hold your hand on the walk home. You must lean on me if we're to get too dizzy.
no subject
[ If he would let her, anyway! ]
Oh, I'm getting pumped now! [ And as such, she straight up runs ahead of him until she reaches the next level. ] Come on, Cloud!
Last one up there has to do anything the winner says!
[ They're racing now... This version of Ayaka's definitely a lot more outgoing. ]
no subject
[ And he's a lot softer. JKFLDSA ]
A-Anything? [ Ah! Focus, Cloud! You can't let her get away!
You two are also going to incur the ire of Gale Squirrels sooner than later...] Please, wait for me![ He says that. And yet as he sprints, Cloud finds himself catching up rather quickly, although he doesn't make any moves to try and run around her. His nature may have changed, but that didn't mean he forgot how to conduct himself on this mission. Or the fact that despite the floors that act as buffers all the way to the bottom, that it's still a dangerous fall if one of them slipped or pushed the other off.
So as they ascend together, reaching the top as he finally starts to feel fatigue, they do indeed come upon Gale Squirrels that are aware of their presence. Whether it was Kamisato Ayaka taking the lead and charging headlong into battle, or Cloud's more composed and calculated strikes, they aren't too much of a problem thanks to their own affinity for Wind Magic. This whole ascent up the Very Big Tree, Cloud's felt himself becoming more and more in tune with his powers. How they will translate when he's back to normal is anybody's guess. But when it's all said and done...
Clandon flipped a coin. It landed heads for Ayaka.]Haa...haa...haa...
[ Clutching the tops of his knees, he heaves a deep breath before straightening back up, hands on his hips as he gathers his breath. A loser though he may be, he's at least graceful in said defeat. ]
no subject
Huh! Where'd she learn that from?Cloud didn't have to do anything this time, and right before she continues to run up the stairs, she's spinning her sword before placing it on her back, blade facing downwards. But it's when she runs off to continue with the race that the sword disappears, much like it usually does.Upon getting to the top, they'll find that there's... nothing there! A small nest with feathers, but that's about it! And by now, the tree has completely changed Ayaka. When she remembers this all once they're back down and normal? She's going to will Cloud to FORGET ALL ABOUT IT. ]
Yes! I'm first, baby! This tree's got nothin' on us, Cloud! You and me are gonna take on all the Segments together!
[ Woo hoo! With both hands on her hips, she walks closer to the edge and laughs triumphantly. Whether or not Cloud's reached the top already, she's celebrating being the winner of the race with a victory, uhh... performance, with the audience being the unconscious gale squirrels all around the tree.
And part of it unfortunately only sounds good to her. ]
We're done here.
[ Did she just mic drop? THERE'S NO MIC. SHE'S NOT HOLDING ANYTHING. Why is she possessed by the ghost of Arataki Itto????? ]
1/3
2/3
By god. She became the cutest, miniature One and Oni. And this is the part where Cloud would normally keep to his silence, staring awkwardly at her. But. ]
3/3
You did it!! Ohmygosh you were so brave, Ayaka!
[ So bubbly and happy. But they can't end things quite yet! Before they can make their triumphant return to the guild, ]
Let us make haste. And bring with us these feathers as proof of our mission.
no subject
Yes, yes, she was brave, but Cloud shouldn't go creditless, either! ]
So were you, Cloud! You did great.
[ She's the one who picks up the feathers— one for her and one for him! It doesn't seem like she can take more. . . but that's okay. She doesn't mind. After handing him one? She keeps her hand up, palm facing him.
Here you go, Cloud. It's what you wanted being handed to you on a silver platter. ]
Up top!
no subject
[ Bubbly and giddy personality shift or not, the smile she receives is still him. All Cloud as he raises his hand, and at the highest point of this tree, they stand tall.
A crisp high five, but for a moment, their hands remain held on high. ]
Mission accomplished.
[ The sun would be setting soon, as they take their leave at the bottom of the tree. But with the skies being rather clear today, even if they had to journey for a while under nightfall, the moonlight would help pave their way. But they had time! They could camp a little closer to the great tree instead of trying to make it all the way back to their previous campsite.
With his personality completely shifted back to normal, he looks down at the feather in his hand still, satisfaction written all over his face before his gaze turns to his travel companion. ]
Just remembered... [ Setting the feather in his pocket, ] You won the race to the top.
no subject
Whatever effects the tree may have had on Ayaka, it sure is gone now. She told Cloud she would count how many floors there were on that tree to test her endurance, and running up about a quarter of the stairs to win a race? It was definitely very exciting! But now her body has run out of adrenaline, and her knees have gone a bit wobbly. Her legs are going to be so sore... ]
I... did, didn't I?
[ She doesn't really want to think about it anymore! As they descended the spiral staircase, and as she was slowly going back to her more reserved self, the embarrassment ever so slowly caught up with her, too.
She's so sorry if she ever embarrassed you while you guys were up there, Cloud... ]
Why do I have a feeling that you let me win?
no subject
terrible his Ayaya impression wasbubbly and eccentric he was? They were in the clear. He would, however, want to bring up just how smooth her moves were when her persona shifted. She was impressive! Cloud's feeling the fatigue, but he does a better job at soldiering onward on sturdier knees. Thankfully, if Ayaka shows any more fatigue? He's either going to stop for her? Or be the one carrying her. ]Yes and no.
[ It's true. Cloud was deceivingly fast for the kind of equipment he carried. He also had the fact that he was a supercharged human, just like Zack. Ayaka was quick in her own right too! But, ]
I wasn't just about to go shoving past you on the stairs to get a win.
[ Not when they were relatively narrow. ]
no subject
I'm afraid I wouldn't know what to ask of you, even if I won!
[ She was actually thinking he would win! Ayaka didn't think this through properly, even though she was so happy to get to the top first. So despite saying that, she suggests: ]
Why don't I give you my reward, instead?
[ So he could be the one to make a wish! And as usual, she will make it come true. ]
