Event #1: Welcome, Adventurers

Welcome, Adventurers
LOGS | NETWORK | OOC | MEMES | NAVIGATION
A new message on everyone's smartphones says that all the Guilds are finally open for business! Instructions on how to get to each one of them are sent with the message.
Each Season has their own Guild (Winter in Frostreign, Spring in Blossomcrown, Summer in Solarpeak and Autumn in Amberfall). Originally they were formed when the world was thriving and the natives were power holders, now they serve a purpose for aiding Otherworlders.
Although there are some aesthetic differences, all of the guilds have the same basic layout, which the newcomers are given a tour of:
The main floor is for information, containing computers that are connected between all guilds. Using them brings up holographic boards which contain information on each of the segments, with a focus on their home segment. You can find out here what the weather is like in each segment, what quests are available, an explanation on how the Flower Yards work, and even a list of powers that have been discovered and how to practice them.
The second floor is a place to go for combat practice, or just practice using your powers. There are simulators here that can be used to create a space to test your skills against virtual monster opponents or against other power holders, all with safety precautions to keep anyone from being injured.
The third and final floor is meant for relaxation and provides a temporary place to nap when necessary. Those who do quests on a regular basis will receive a key that opens their own, personal room for relaxation that can be customized as much as they want. It's void pocket space that doesn't appear unless the specific key is used or the owner invites someone in from the inside.
It's also the floor where the leaders of the guild have their own private space in that's a restricted area. They have their public office there as well.
However, the power holders are expecting everyone outside, in the backyard of the Guilds...
The main event of the opening day of the guilds is a lesson on how to become more attuned with your new elemental magic. Some characters may already feel comfortable with them, but the Power Holders wish to help anyone who might still feel like they're struggling.
Behind the guilds there is big open space. A yard meant for lessons like this. Each of the power holders is own their own stage (even Sawyer, who seems rather reluctant to be there) and announces the name of the lesson: Elemental Dancing.
They explain each in their own way that dancing while focusing on their basic element is a way to start properly feeling the element. The dance can be anything, as long as their bodies are moving and they can feel their magical energy align with the element.
To demonstrate, they dance:
Olwen dances a slow dance that looks a little like ballet, with water flowing naturally around him and increasing in quantity as he goes.
Jade has a much quicker dance method, like she's dancing at a party and is surrounded by wind that sometimes helps her even jump higher.
Dawn's dance is a passionate belly dance accompanied by rings of fire around her that turns into a pink fire so she doesn't burn herself as the flames come closer to herself.
Sawyer, as reluctant as he, goes full breakdance with each of his tricks forming pillars of earth that he can use to dance even more.
Once their demonstration is over, they encourage new power holders to give it a try themselves and remind them that they can dance however they please. They also advise that the dances can be attempted with a partner, as long as they can learn to trust one another. Sometimes magic is far stronger when done together... but it may also backfire.
Anyone interested is encouraged to join their guild. The staff explains that it's very beneficial, as they would get access to the upper floors that just today were shown to them, and that nearby stores would give guild members discounts for potions and other such adventuring necessities.
Even without joining, all of the first floors services are available for everyone. That includes the questboard that is now on display, though it only shows four quests for now.
There are some necessary preparations still going on with the questboard itself, but the staff assures that later there will be more of them, with some permanent ones added to the mix that would help with making the Segments safer for those without powers to explore as well.
Why not find a friend and go out on an adventure together? The guild does recommend doing quests together with someone, rather than alone.
Well, except Sawyer of Autumn, if he's around. He will always encourage people to go on their own and claims it's an act of bravery. Oh, and make sure to check the Beastiary before heading out, once you've picked your targets!
The Quests [ Click to Expand ]
Quests
CW/TW: possible nudity, possible death
Name: Skeletal Mischief
Rewards: 100 Moon Coins per 2 Snowskeletons vanquished
Location: Winter Segment
Description: For some time Snowskeletons have bothered natives who visit the Flower Yard. Usually the only nearby place of peace has now become a nuisance to visit. Those who attempt it usually return to the city in just their underwear (if they’re lucky). A request has come for the guilds to get rid of the Snowskeletons near the Flower Yard in whatever means necessary.
OOC notes: Snowskeletons have two types: either they're snowmen made from bone or they're skeletons made of snow. Either way they're definitely not friendly and often disguise themselves among the snow to surprise their prey. They're not really out to kill anyone, but may sometimes accidentally do it. Instead they're looking to steal clothes and wear them. Basically they're notorious bandits.
CW/TW: mind altering
Name: That Very Big Tree
Rewards: 500 Moon Coins, Loot you find
Location: Spring Segment
Description: The researchers are curious about the “One Very Big Tree”. They want to know what the tree does and are asking people to take a look and report back what they find.
OOC notes: One Very Big Tree is hollow on the inside and looks like a big tree house. The higher someone climbs it the less they feel like they’re themselves. In fact, they will turn into the exact opposite of themselves. There are also dangerous Gale Squirrels living inside that use wind magic of their own to attack!
Reaching the top, however, will reward them with feathers of a mighty monstrous bird that can be used to enhance any weapon so that they fly back to the user's hand. Only one feather per character, magic stops them from taking more than one.
CW/TW: possible death, possible mind altering
Name: Treasure Ship
Rewards: 500 Moon Coins, any treasure they find
Location: Summer Segment
Description: “The abandoned ship in the Great Ocean Lake used to be a treasure ship! So why not go fetch the treasure? I’m sure it can be used to make some neat weapons or armor. I’d love to help do that, I’m an expert in using treasure for enhancements! But I’m not strong enough to go get them myself. The fastest route there is from the Airship Station!”
OOC notes: The ship is full of Octokitties that are cats with six to eight limbs. They’re territorial and won’t appreciate anyone coming to their ship for any reason and will attack viciously. They can also spit ink that includes side effects of going into a berserker mode and not caring who is an ally and who is an enemy. But the treasure is real.
CW/TW: eaten alive, death
Name: The Blue Flash
Rewards: 700 Moon Coins for finding a lost one*
Location: Autumn Segment
Description: “Help, my friend disappeared on our trip to visit the old lady of Autumn Airship Station. We walked outside to stretch our legs after our airship journey and then there was a blue flash in the corner of my eye and he was gone! Nothing at all remained and I was too scared to go look for him so I ran back inside. I’ve heard this isn’t the first time a blue flash has abducted someone!”
OOC notes: The reason for disappearances is the Angler Will-o'-the-wisps: Most will-o'-the-wisps are harmless, but there are types that act like anglerfish. They take the form of other monsters and toss a "fishing line" out of a dark bush to make it look like a normal will-o'-the-wisp was trying to get their attention. When the prey gets too close, they will attempt to devour them to get more soul energy. They have left their normal place in the forests and invaded some bushes around the Segment.
*Reward stays the same even for just figuring out the mystery behind disappearances.
Enhancing items is a magical specialty in Ellipsa. The power of words determines how your item of choice gets enchanted. If you're trying to make an armor stronger, it would be wise to use kind and encouraging words but a weapon might need violent and determined words. Enhancement include defense boosts, attack boosts, health stealing and even adding status effects. All of these effects aren't permanent, but they should last for at least a month before fading away.
The workshops around districts will offer teaching to anyone who is interested in learning the basics of basic item enhancement. For more advanced things (like learning to make the enhancements permanent) the natives suggests taking an apprenticeship in the Magical Manor of Amberfall or Tower of Potions of Coldreach. Especially with potions, as those are more advanced than what they are showing.
Of course, armor and weapons aren't the only things that can be enhanced anything is possible as long as it's a non-living thing.
A group of mischievous Imps are causing trouble. They're doing everything they can to make people angry (like dropping items on people's toes) as they try their magic. This could happen to anyone, even otherworlders testing their new magic.
Due to their mischief, a group of magical performers who were meant to enhance some animal statues to make them move around in a show ended up cursing a lot while the magic was happening. Because of that the animal statues did come to life, but they're angry and started running around, ramming into people left and right. It's especially alarming when one of the statues enhanced is a giant elephant, and some of the statues were meant to be used in a bullfighting show. Those are some very, very angry stone bulls coming at people in high speeds!
The natives don't want to break the statues, but they would like the statues to be stopped. With kind and loving words the effects of the curses will vanish and the statues will calm down and act like they were supposed to.
Of course they would appreciate catching as many Imps as possible so they could be returned back outside into the Summer Segment.

Huh! Where'd she learn that from?Cloud didn't have to do anything this time, and right before she continues to run up the stairs, she's spinning her sword before placing it on her back, blade facing downwards. But it's when she runs off to continue with the race that the sword disappears, much like it usually does.Upon getting to the top, they'll find that there's... nothing there! A small nest with feathers, but that's about it! And by now, the tree has completely changed Ayaka. When she remembers this all once they're back down and normal? She's going to will Cloud to FORGET ALL ABOUT IT. ]
Yes! I'm first, baby! This tree's got nothin' on us, Cloud! You and me are gonna take on all the Segments together!
[ Woo hoo! With both hands on her hips, she walks closer to the edge and laughs triumphantly. Whether or not Cloud's reached the top already, she's celebrating being the winner of the race with a victory, uhh... performance, with the audience being the unconscious gale squirrels all around the tree.
And part of it unfortunately only sounds good to her. ]
We're done here.
[ Did she just mic drop? THERE'S NO MIC. SHE'S NOT HOLDING ANYTHING. Why is she possessed by the ghost of Arataki Itto????? ]
1/3
2/3
By god. She became the cutest, miniature One and Oni. And this is the part where Cloud would normally keep to his silence, staring awkwardly at her. But. ]
3/3
You did it!! Ohmygosh you were so brave, Ayaka!
[ So bubbly and happy. But they can't end things quite yet! Before they can make their triumphant return to the guild, ]
Let us make haste. And bring with us these feathers as proof of our mission.
no subject
Yes, yes, she was brave, but Cloud shouldn't go creditless, either! ]
So were you, Cloud! You did great.
[ She's the one who picks up the feathers— one for her and one for him! It doesn't seem like she can take more. . . but that's okay. She doesn't mind. After handing him one? She keeps her hand up, palm facing him.
Here you go, Cloud. It's what you wanted being handed to you on a silver platter. ]
Up top!
no subject
[ Bubbly and giddy personality shift or not, the smile she receives is still him. All Cloud as he raises his hand, and at the highest point of this tree, they stand tall.
A crisp high five, but for a moment, their hands remain held on high. ]
Mission accomplished.
[ The sun would be setting soon, as they take their leave at the bottom of the tree. But with the skies being rather clear today, even if they had to journey for a while under nightfall, the moonlight would help pave their way. But they had time! They could camp a little closer to the great tree instead of trying to make it all the way back to their previous campsite.
With his personality completely shifted back to normal, he looks down at the feather in his hand still, satisfaction written all over his face before his gaze turns to his travel companion. ]
Just remembered... [ Setting the feather in his pocket, ] You won the race to the top.
no subject
Whatever effects the tree may have had on Ayaka, it sure is gone now. She told Cloud she would count how many floors there were on that tree to test her endurance, and running up about a quarter of the stairs to win a race? It was definitely very exciting! But now her body has run out of adrenaline, and her knees have gone a bit wobbly. Her legs are going to be so sore... ]
I... did, didn't I?
[ She doesn't really want to think about it anymore! As they descended the spiral staircase, and as she was slowly going back to her more reserved self, the embarrassment ever so slowly caught up with her, too.
She's so sorry if she ever embarrassed you while you guys were up there, Cloud... ]
Why do I have a feeling that you let me win?
no subject
terrible his Ayaya impression wasbubbly and eccentric he was? They were in the clear. He would, however, want to bring up just how smooth her moves were when her persona shifted. She was impressive! Cloud's feeling the fatigue, but he does a better job at soldiering onward on sturdier knees. Thankfully, if Ayaka shows any more fatigue? He's either going to stop for her? Or be the one carrying her. ]Yes and no.
[ It's true. Cloud was deceivingly fast for the kind of equipment he carried. He also had the fact that he was a supercharged human, just like Zack. Ayaka was quick in her own right too! But, ]
I wasn't just about to go shoving past you on the stairs to get a win.
[ Not when they were relatively narrow. ]
no subject
I'm afraid I wouldn't know what to ask of you, even if I won!
[ She was actually thinking he would win! Ayaka didn't think this through properly, even though she was so happy to get to the top first. So despite saying that, she suggests: ]
Why don't I give you my reward, instead?
[ So he could be the one to make a wish! And as usual, she will make it come true. ]
no subject
[ Briefly letting his hand rest over his pocket where the mysterious feather remains, its powers to be realized soon enough, his gaze follows for a moment. He supposes that unless it was asked for by the Guild, these feathers were the spoils of their quest, beyond the initial payment anyway. Less Gale Squirrels to worry about too, for future adventurers.
"Every day... Every birthday..."
He thinks of the gifts that he receives just by being with Ayaka every day. Just by thinking about her every day. And his smile grows as he leaves the feather in his pocket be. As neat as it is? He has something far sweeter.
A princess' reward, his deeper blues returning to his girlfriend as they make their way back to their next campsite. ]
Doesn't get any better.
no subject
[ So it truly feels like a reward! No pressure, Cloud. You may use this free pass whenever you wish.
And as they walk farther and farther away from the tree, the day catches up with them. They fortunately didn't take very long, and there's still light to spare as they head to a safe zone where they can camp for the rest of the day. Ayaka actually asks Cloud at some point if they can already rest, because it feels like her legs are about to give out, if he doesn't make a suggestion.
And once they've got camp set up? She's making tea for the two of them again. ]
no subject
[ Cloud has an idea. But the end result is about the time that he gets to spend with Ayaka. He feels like he can finally relax, despite the way the tree shifted their personalities around. That was something he would need to ask Olwen and the others about...because that just only added another layer to the mysteries of this world. What would have happened if his nature shifted for the worse? It's not something he wishes to dwell on for long.
Which is why he's perfectly content with a repeat of yesterday, distracting himself by chopping down another tree nearby. By the time he finished dragging it back for Ayaka to swiftly trim with her own swordsmanship, Cloud was finally, finally beginning to show signs of fatigue. A little more flustered. Sweat rolling down the inside of his throat and down to his clavicle.
💦👅While she prepares tea, he's already getting the fire ready as the sun begins to set. ]
no subject
[ That was their purpose to go up the tree, after all!
Ayaka only starts the conversation once Cloud's settled down as well, offering him his teacup, and a bento of snacks. She even brought some cup noodles if Cloud wanted something more brothy, but she's... never made these before. So it is offered to him with the noodles still in its packaging, sealed tight. ]
We found those feathers, but it kept disappearing when I would try to take more than two... And we did act differently, but I wonder if that was all there is to it?
no subject
[ The part that sticks out the most to him was exactly the two points Ayaka makes. The origins of the tree was one thing. But the fact that they could only physically possess one feather at a time. Not to mention the way the tree shifted their natures... ]
Thanks- [ Teacup! Cup noodles! This reminds him of some of the military rations they'd get some times! ] I'm gonna need some more time to think about it.
Especially the way we just...changed as we went up. [ Luckily for them, they also have a pot that can be safely hung over the fire to boil water! Instant noodles are in his future. ...and hers if she so wishes to have some too. He'll even make it for her! ] Would it have had any effect if we climbed it from the outside? Could it have to do with the height?
[ So many questions... He's not against theorizing as they got settled down for the night and got food prepped. ]
no subject
[ And it was as they were going up that they started feeling different, right? ]
It could have something to do with how high up we were, or perhaps the time we spent there.
[ Ayaka takes a sip of her tea. ]
Do you think they would want us to find out what triggers the change, exactly?
no subject
[ He takes a drink from his tea while the water gets up to boil for the cup of ramen. A couple more minutes! ]
Could be separated by levels...or just a single step up and down. Either way, I ain't in a rush to head back.
[ But that being said, the two of them should jot down some details, be it in their note application on their phone, or pen and paper. ]
no subject
[ They can come back another time! But right now, they don't really have much left. ]
no subject
[ It's as she said. There's just enough to make it back to the guild, otherwise they'd be living off the land. ...or calling for help. The latter he especially doesn't want to do. Especially over something so simple. With the water boiled, he carefully takes the pot off the fire so he can get it poured into the cup, filling it up and closing the lid so that it can cook. ]
By the way...what you did back there. [ No. Not high fiving or doing the dance. ] The way you brandished your sword up there.
[ With the spins. ]
Where'd you learn that?
[ A part of him already knows the answer. He's even smiling knowingly.
At least he's self-aware of his dorkiness. sdafljkh]no subject
[ As for deeper into the segment, and in the other segments? They'll just have to see for themselves another time. ]
Hm? [ The way she brandished her sword? She looks clueless for a moment, and she tries to recall everything that happened up in the tree. Until... ]
Oh! [ SO EMBARRASSING... Why is she being called out like this! She can't even look him in the eye anymore... She'll just eat her food, thank you.
But quietly, just for him alone to hear: ] W- When I would watch you, and you would do it... you always looked so cool.
[ Ayaka, your crush is showing... ]
no subject
But he can't help but think it. It's cute to see her react like this about him. Her soft admittance of him looking so cool when he fights the way he does...
Sipping his tea, and satisfied with the answer, he lets out a relaxed sigh. ]
You pulled it off nicely. [ Now he's letting it sit another moment longer before he speaks up again. ] Right. How 'bout we make it even.
[ Make it even? How? ]
My turn to admit something.
no subject
Ayaka could never turn Cloud away, though. So she resigns to her fate. He can admit something, too. ]
What is it?
no subject
[ That wasn't the confession part. But he does try to keep his skills sharp. Today, this mission best called for his technique with a Buster Sword. But that didn't mean he gave up on the Kamisato Art Tachi Jutsu. It wasn't presented often, due to a lack of battles, but...the next time he showed what he can do? He hopes to surprise her. But he continues, a small and knowing smile on his face. ]
Sometimes, I, uh...try and copy you. Envision my sword flashing so many times in less than a blink.
[ Alright. The embarrassing part. ]
Even pretended I had a fan to... Use...Soumetsu.
[ aflkjdsg there. even.
his weeb his showing.]no subject
[ Honestly? Hearing it now, it's not as embarrassing as she had pictured it in her head to be.
She does, however, summon her fan to cover the lower half of her face, if only because-- ]
Really? [ That's. . . honestly so adorable? That's a cute mental image to have of her beau. ] Hehe, I suppose that's what is in store for the Kamisato-Strife Tachi Jutsu.
no subject
Think I'll leave the fan part to you. You look better holding one.
no subject
Alright then.
The fans I own are not just for decoration or accessory, after all. There is meaning to how it is used, as well.
