{ a small nod follows her question, though he doesn't know if she'll see it with how she's been sitting. he's worried, that this had been too much to say but it isn't like he can hide something like this either. }

Of course. Do you need a hand up?

[ Ayaka doesn't see the nod, but she does look at him when he responds. She nods back to acknowledge that they'll get tea, and is in a hurry to rise to her feet. Whether or not Ayato gets up in time to help her up, Ayaka is back up, and she waits for him before leading him to the kitchen.

If he's been there in the living room all night, the short walk can at least provide some exercise and fresh air. Ayaka starts preparing the tea and some snacks, while Ayato waits. ]

he'll follow quietly though, and she's probably right that his body aches from barely moving for hours.

but as he notices her starting to put snacks together, he can feel dread pooling in his stomach as it starts to twist.

his voice is quiet, but given how quiet the room is she'll be able to hear it. }

You should probably prepare breakfast for yourself instead. I'm... not hungry.

[ She doesn't ask anymore if he's sure. . . There is probably no point to.

She does, at least, turn around and nod his way in acknowledgement. Hopefully Ayato won't get sick if he skips meals, but the tea should help him, too. ]

I'll just prepare something for Thoma and Cloud, then.

{ he nods at that as well, before realising she's probably too busy to see. }

and so he goes quiet again, where normally he'd fill the quiet with her to ask her about how her time has been, has she been busy? right now, it's just endless silence. }

[ In Inazuma, the Kamisato Estate was always so lively. People would always be singing and dancing, celebrating and being merry. For a key member of the Kamisato Clan to not emulate that would be a disappointment to the people of Inazuma, but Ayaka doesn't think she can start singing after knowing what happened to her brother.

It really should be a moment to celebrate— she is glad and relieved that he is here, and he was able to come home. That doesn't really erase the fact that something bad did happen, though. Perhaps they can have a light conversation later. Right now, even Ayaka isn't really up for it.

Ayaka does not prepare matcha, instead a pot of genmaicha, something more filling than the usual. It does not take long to make, nor for its smell to move around the kitchen and even into the living room. Anyone joining them at this time would know that there is freshly brewed tea.

As for the food... ]

Ayato? What kind of sandwich do you think Thoma would like?

[ She'll ask for his input! And if he's up to it, he can help her make breakfast for their wives beaus husbands boyfriends. ]

{ while ayaka prepares the tea, ayato watches. his eyes are lowered to her hands as she tips the leaves, pours the water, all the gentle steps as a routine giving some peace of mind. in a way he stares through it, seeing the motions rather than the person herself.

it's why he blinks rapidly when he hears his name after a time, startled as his eyes shoot up to her face. }

Oh. { a hand raises to his mouth, fingers touching the skin of his lips as his brow furrows. he tries to think of different food he may want, but it turns out even the idea of it makes his stomach turn uncomfortably.

his eyes turn sharply away, face going pale as his eyes clothes. }

Sorry, Ayaka. I'm... apparently not even able imagine food without feeling sick still at the moment. Maybe the tea will help and I can try again in a moment. { because he knows this was her attempt to try and involve him, it has to be. } Otherwise feel free to choose whatever Cloud would like best, I'm sure Thoma wouldn't mind.

[ It is Ayato who is apologising, but it is Ayaka who feels so embarrassed, as if she has wronged her brother.

She bows her head immediately. ]

Please excuse me for being so insensitive. I— [ Didn't know that that was what Ayato was feeling... But she does not continue. It just sounds like a convenient excuse to her. She should have been more thoughtful. ] I'll be the one to decide, then.

[ It's no big deal, but she doesn't wish to cause inconvenience and pain to her brother any further. ]

{ in all fairness to them both, he hasn't spoken any details of it--he's still avoiding it in a way. but at least she now knows why he didn't feel hungry. why he still doesn't.

why when the tea is ready he'll hold it against his face, as the scent of tea will likely cover the scent of food. }

[ If it will take a while for Ayato to have an appetite, she hopes he won't get sick. He'll still have to take care of himself, so he doesn't end up feeling worse.

Though now she wonders what else she can do, if even something simple as this... it's not something she was able to help with.

The tea is served already, so Ayato doesn't wait too long, but she has to finish cleaning up after making the sandwiches that she doesn't join him right away. ]

{ oh, he absolutely will not be taking care of himself enough, but this is why people are there to watch out for him.

he'll take a seat though when the tea is served. his hands curl around the cup, and even if it's a little hot he doesn't pull his hands away. the warmth is a nice reminder of where he is.

thankfully, that seems to pull him out of his reverie a little, gives him a little more brain power to gently ask: } What did you have for your plans today?

[ She sets the sandwiches aside on the table, putting them on display so that either Thoma and Cloud could get some if they want to when they're up and about. The egg sandwich and chicken sandwich can be enjoyed either cold or warm, but they'd have to heat the katsu sando later on.

As for Ayaka, she merely serves herself a cup of tea after being seated. ]

I have a meeting with a potential supplier for the tea house, but I may just reschedule it to another day.

[ She's not interested in seeing anyone else at this time. ]

{ he avoids looking anywhere near them, focusing solely on the tea until ayaka settles down at the table as well. }

I see. Apologies if I've ruined your plans for today. I imagine that is quite an important meeting.

There's no need to apologise.

[ She shakes her head. Ayato doesn't have to worry about it, really. ]

I can ask Cloud to attend the meeting in my stead, if he's free. I'll have to ask when he's awake. The meeting isn't until the afternoon.

[ If Cloud finds out about what happened to Ayato, he may not want to leave, either. He was so supportive of Ayaka when she told him about Ayato's troubles before he and Thoma became officially an item. It was more than just support for her. He said he would protect Ayato, too.

The blond's loyalty isn't just to his girlfriend. And the smile Ayaka wears when she thinks about that is more than warm. ]

Today... let us do something that will take our mind off things, even for a moment.

{ 'if' is more like 'when' in this case. ayato isn't going to tell her to not tell him. he just doesn't want a wider group knowing until he can ensure no one will rush off there to handle it themselves. }

I'll... need to contact both travelers at some point during the day to let them know as well. But that should be it. I don't plan on letting a wider audience know until I'm certain things are... under control. Doing something else together today would be nice. Though... I imagine Thoma may wish to join us, if that would be alright? Cloud may too, of course, if he wishes.

[ Ayaka values privacy, amongst other things. She won't tell Cloud all the details since that's Ayato's own business. It's not a matter of trust, because she trusts Cloud with anything and everything. At this point though, she just thinks some things aren't her business to tell. Not when they concern others. ]

[ That's the only thing Ayaka says before she starts crying again, and she tries to fight it by closing her eyes. She fails, however, so she instead looks away and wipes the tears off with the back of her hand. ]

Ayaka, you don't need to apologise. { he places his cup back on the table and holds his hand out for her, in case she wants to take it. }

[ Ayaka shakes her head, quickly removing the tears away before sitting down proper, hands back on her lap. She's the one who's supposed to be helping him, comforting him, yet here she is... ]

I will be alright. [ Closing her eyes for a moment, she forces a smile and places her hands back around her tea cup. I will be alright, she tells herself again before looking back at Ayato. ] I must think of something we all can do...

I suppose we could do that. A movie takes some time to finish, so it will be a good way to pass the time... I'll have to clean up the table outside.
