WHAT: A few days ago, Marisa talked about organizing an ice breaker of sorts. Tonight, it's happening.
WHEN: Early April
WHERE: Bars around Nightwake
WARNINGS: Alcohol, bad decisions

-6pm-

The evening started at the Summer Guild Hall, with snacks and just kind of hanging around and chatting until a few people showed up. Everyone was still sober at this point. Things are a little bit awkward right now since most of you don't know each other, but there's chips and dip, though, and someone provided a veggie tray.

-8pm-

Eventually the group made their way to a pool hall. Drinks are flowing at this point, but no one is likely particularly drunk at this point unless they're really working at it. Play some billiards, drink some beer, get some overpriced nachos, and get to know your fellow partyers.

-10pm-

After some pool, the group wandered over to a karaoke bar. Prepare for terrible singing (or maybe some of you actually CAN sing??? Marisa sure can't, at least.). Maybe link a song that captures the vibes of what your character is singing and give us some idea of how well they're singing it. Sing a duet with someone! Heckle people for being terrible at this! Get cold feet and pass the microphone off to someone else! The options are endless!

After singing their hearts out, the group that was still awake staggered along to a dive bar. The clientele are keeping to themselves, the barkeeper looks surly, the drinks are suspicious, and the room is filled with gloomy corners. This is the part of the night where you semi-incoherently lay your deepest secrets bare to people who you don't know that well but are perfectly confident that these are the most important and trustworthy people in the world.

Mistakes were made. Oh god. Where are we? Why does the world keep spinning? Where do I live? I think I'm gonna be sick...

[OOC note: the drinking age in Nightwake City is apparently 18. Consider this an open mingle post, rather than a post with Marisa specifically.]

Reimu picks at the veggie platter with mild distaste. If this is what passes for pub food here, it's a pretty sorry state.

[ The food improved! As did the evening, with the advent of beer. Reimu's feeling more in her element at this point.

With just a light buzz going on, she gravitates towards the pool table. She's never heard of this game before, but it looks relatively easy to understand. ]

Hey, show me how to play this one. I don't know the rules, but it looks pretty fun.

[ Reimu is thoroughly drunk by this point. What little barriers she had about talking to total strangers is long gone. Apparently she's a cheerful drunk.

Still, she's off to the side with the less singy people during karaoke. Not because she doesn't think she can sing, but because she's never even heard any of these songs before. How do you people know all these songs already?

Come, harass her into singing a duet! Or sit nearby and share your uninhibited drunkard thoughts. The seat next to her is empty. ]

[ Ah, the dead of night, when the youkai come out, and when you realize you might have drunk too much.

Reimu has gone past the fun drunk stage, and into the weirdly personal gloomy drunk phase. ]

I can't believe it's going like this...

[ She's talking to anyone. Mostly herself, actually. Possibly total strangers. ]

Normally, when this kind of incident happens, it only takes a couple days at most to sort it out... but it's been over a week now. I'm not any closer to finding the mastermind... hey, have I lost my touch? Is this the end for my position as a shrine maiden?

Maybe I should just go berserk and fight every youkai I can find, and hope that the boss shows up... or wait, maybe if I did that, I'd be the one causing an incident...

Actually, isn't it weird that everyone lives in the same place? Maybe this is a paradise where humans and youkai can exist peacefully... Or would that be a nightmare? I'd lose my job...

[ She's just... gonna keep on rambling. The alternative is standing up, which definitely wouldn't be a good idea in her present state. ]

Marisa spins her pool cue (The shortest one they had. She is quite small) around thoughtfully while she considers the table.

"And I have to hit the eight ball in last? That doesn't sound too hard."

She lines up her shot carefully, squinting down her cue...and then fucks it up and goes RIGHT past the five ball she'd been aiming for and sinks the eight ball immediately.

"Ah crap."

Marisa is singing a energetic number with enthusiasm and, it must be said, not a lot of talent. Possibly because she doesn't sing a lot. Possibly because she doesn't know the song and is reading the lyrics off the screen. Possibly because she's pretty tipsy. She'd LIKE to hit the notes, but she's not even scaring them as she goes by.

It doesn't seem to bother her much, though. If no one else likes her singing that's THEIR problem. She's having fun!

"Y'know...I dun talk aboudit very much but..."

Marisa stared into space for a moment, gathering her thoughts.

"but...but...what was I sayin'...Right! I don't talk about it but I been waiting for that moment when you jus...you look at someone and you know, that they're the one."

She looks embarrassed to admit this but pushes on. "Like...there's gotta be something more than jus thinkin 'oh hes handsome' right? Stands to reason. Otherwise why's everrone writin' all those sappy poems?"

Marisa staggers down the street, arm flung over the shoulder of the nearest person, a bottle of...something or other in her free hand that she was waving around around like she was conducting an orchestra while singing a song about animals.

"If you're that kind of fool, and you have a long tool,

Catch a yeti, who lives in the snows of Nepal--
but the hedgehog can never be buggered at all."

She's been trying to teach you the lyrics as she goes, but she's still terrible at singing.

[ Well, the least music critic ever, and she's happy and enthusiastic, so Suzaku is going to clap when she finishes. He's dressed and styled casually, if more than a little bit — tense whenever he thinks no one's looking.

[Marisa, honestly just dressed in her normal black dress, bowed when the song was done.]

Well at least there's one person with good taste here tonight!

[ For good or ill, Saya's very good at pool, ridiculous with her voice, and best of all at holding her liquor. Genetics on all three accounts: vampire queens are good at physics-related tasks and singing, and they can't get drunk. That last one's a bummer, by the way. But it's fine she's not here to get plastered, and she'll happily look after anyone who had a few too many. (Don't worry, she's a mess and she can't cook and she sleeps for 30 years at a time, there are drawbacks.) ]

[ She's happy to give billiards tutorials though, incredibly friendly ones if those are welcome! Look there's only so unfriendly it gets when there's bending over involved. ]

[ And when it's time for karaoke, she does some killer renditions of Queen's Radio Gaga and Heart's Crazy On You with some truly spectacular voicebends. ]

[ Here, settled in comfortably at one of the tables, Yuri's lookin cute in modern clothes from one of the local shops, hair up, and definitely drinking.

His outfit should say he's here to be comfy, not to show off, but it looks unfairly good on him. The boy fills out black skinny jeans like no one's business. ]

I signed up for bad decisions, and yet nothing's on fire. Maybe I should complain to the management.

[ He's no longer alarmed by Nen bringing fire extinguishers places. In fact, Nen could show up to the next party in full hazmat gear and Yuri would ask questions before worrying. ]

[ He joked, because honestly he is in fact a little bit careful with other people's property. Not everyone can afford repairs. ]

[ Hlasoh joins Yuri with a tall glass of foaming amber beer, dressed in a nice, loose blouse and skirt, showing off her thin arms adorned with curving floral design tattoos and simple bangles around her wrists.

Scandalously, she's more here to meet people than get drunk. She offers a cool smile. ]

Too bad. Looks like you'll have to find your thrill some other way, because I've left the explosives at home.

Eh, arson in a bar can go from exciting to a pain in the ass quickly. Plenty of other ways to have fun that don't set fire to the booze.

Shame there haven't been any bar fights yet, though.

[He settles his chin in the palm of one gloved hand with a smirk.]

One of those was definitely a request, but the other one kinda sounds like one, too.

[ Hlasoh, for better or worse, is going to be an enormous stick in the mud tonight, and not get drink. She has a few, yes, enough to get tipsy, and certainly somewhat more relaxed and informal than her usual elegant demeanor, but she wants to keep most of her wits about her. She's even dressed a little more casually than usual, in a knee length skirt, and loose blouse revealing her tattooed arms, all azure curls and flowers. People get talkative and lower their inhibitions when alcohol is involved, which make it a great opportunity to make connections and learn all sorts of things from people.

She's unfamiliar with pool, but makes a couple attempts, nodding after each botched shot as if internally taking notes (she is, via a telepathic link to her phone). She watches others play with clear interest.

She doesn't sing unless somebody really pressures her into it— she doesn't recognize any of the songs. They must be ancient.

Later she's willing to help the intoxicated home— and collect their hot goss. ]

[ They did talk about getting a drink which might have been chronologically after this but we're fudging. Saya is exceptional at pool, and likes to do trick shots and all sorts of show-off ridiculousness. She notices Hlasoh watching her, and smiles. ]

Just observing, or do you want to learn?

[ Time is mutable for making your barbies kiss.

Hlasoh grins as she watches the woman show off. She shrugs, acting as though she had been caught. ]

I had just been planning to watch, but I'll be happy to try if you'll teach me. How could I turn down instruction from a master?

8pm
[People like Saya, Yuri, Zack, and even Nen have encouraged her to do what Nier and Emil have been trying to get her to for a long time. Be a little social. It's not their fault though. Who knew Kainé only needed a little peer pressure?

Kainé was told that for a pub crawl, you gotta dress up. So she picks out something a little more normal than her lingerie, but still equally as feminine. (She still has her bandages wrapped around her left arm and leg though.)

When the group arrives at the first stop, she's off to the side with her arms crossed under her bust, studying how to play this strange game where you poke a bunch of balls into holes with the end of a stick.]

Why don't they just bat the damn things in? Whatever, I need a fuckin' drink.

10pm
[Kainé had heard Saya put something together like this before, but at the time, she still felt wrong being among all these happy people. Should she really be here either?

She tries to shake off the self-doubt and decides that the best way to do that is to take a chance.

After spending quite a bit of time watching how it works, Kainé hesitantly steps up to the mic. The song she is going to sing is not in the database, so she closes her eyes, imagines the accompaniment in her head, and sings a special song from home. It's one her Grandma used to sing especially for her. Kainé's voice is absolutely amazing even though she's had no formal training and little do the onlookers know, but Kainé actually singing for others is a rare treat. Not many have heard her voice. She's not one to divulge her more secret talents.

After the final note, she opens her eyes and tenses, not sure what the reaction will be.]

12am
[The dive bar is a way quieter atmosphere than the other rowdy stops earlier that night. Throughout the night, Kainé has become a little more comfortable hanging around these people. Something she never thought possible.

She joins a few at one of the tables and orders a few shots. With the amount of alcohol she has consumed this night, by all accounts, she should be drunk off her ass. But she doesn't even seem the least bit inebriated. She's quiet as people start to share their more personal stuff, not realizing that it's the booze prompting it. Kainé herself doesn't plan on sharing a damn thing, but Tyrann has other ideas.

For those who have already had interactions with the Shade that inhabits Kainé's body, the origin of the commentary is nothing new. But to those who are unaware, a disemboidied sinister, sadistic, insane, almost evil sounding voice. can be heard seemingly coming out of thin air.

Hey Sunshine, why don't you get in on this moment of bonding. Tell 'em all about the good times we have killin'! Or about all those sappy disgusting feelings you have for that twink. How about the time your granny was squashed like a bug? Oh! You can tell 'em how you were kicked out of your village as a kid for...]

Shut up!

[Kainé cuts the Shade off and jumps to her feet slamming her hands on the table. Her expression is one of abject horror.]

Shut up! Shut up! Shut up!

[She covers her face with her hands, then turns and dashes out the door.]

[Nier had gotten a few strong drinks in himself, so he's pretty well drunk. Weiss has taken up ordering him waters from there on out to try to prevent him from waking up regretting all his life decisions that led to this point. He is chatting up with some of the other people when he hears that damn shade talk.

He gets up and manages to keep his balance as he makes his way over though it takes a lot of effort.]

Twink? Me?

[He doesn't even know what the word is and Weiss isn't about to tell him. When Kainé jumps up and slams her hands down he hurries to trap her with his arms around her waist to try to keep her from running. His balance is not very good though as he attempts to hold her against him firmly.]

Kainé! Ignore him.

[His words are a little slurred but are understandable.]

No! Nier, lemme... lemme go I... I can't stay here!

[She's barely holding back tears.

Kainé struggles, then elbows him in the chest, freeing herself and hurrying out the door.

She runs down an alleyway, leaning against the wall, then sinking to the ground; her head down and her arms wrapped around her knees as she's no longer able to hold it together.]

Well, there's nothing quite like a night of revelry and Hythlodaeus is no stranger to drinking and making decisions he may or may not regret. So at 6PM sharp he's at the Summer Guild Hall, humming to himself cheerfully as he picks over some tortilla chips and dip. He'll be all smiles at anyone who wanders too close, offering up the plate.

"I'm unsure of what this is, exactly, but it isn't bad at all!"

8PM
Nursing a beer at this point, Hythlodaeus is still sober- it takes more than a few drinks to get him tipsy. He's never played pool before but he'll give it a go. He's mostly interested in prodding people with the end of the cue though, and then pretending he's doing something else. Confront him for being a menace?

10PM
He has no qualms with singing, especially not while drinking. And although he'd usually sing badly on purpose just to wind up Emet-Selch (and amuse Azem), he's not actually bad when he tries. Though a duet is more his style, and he'd like to sing something fun and upbeat. He doesn't know any of the songs on offer, but what better way to learn them?

Leaning heavily against whoever happens to be sitting beside him, he peers up through his lashes at his companion and smirks. "So then, what is your story? What brings you to this place at such an hour? Personally, I would simply like to make more friends... and this is as good a way as any, isn't it? After all, we are certainly friends, aren't we?"

Well, whether or not he'll remember that declaration come morning remains to be seen, but he seems awfully fond of whoever he's currently pressed against, anyway.

Mira had thought to try and do the whole being social thing without certain others around. Look, she's trying her best. And it helps when she does spot a familiar (to her) mop of lavender hair. A little at most as she wanders over and spots the food.

"Oh, you mean the chips?" She then asks and takes one of them, thinking it rude to not take one then nibbles on it.

"Oh, it isn't bad at all."

"Indeed." He eyes Mira- ah, another familiar, yet unfamiliar, being. But the colour of her soul is soothing, and he grins.

"Well met, Mira. Enjoying yourself, I presume?" He hands the chips and dip off to her and picks up a sandwich instead with a cheerful hum. "I do hope the night is entertaining. I missed this, truthfully."

Nier's eyes go wide when the lavender haired man leans against him. He steadied himself at the extra weight. "My story?" He asks his words slurring a bit with his own intoxication. He had been cut off by the floating book behind him which was now forcing him to drink water, even with white haired man's arguments.

"My friend brought me out... some nonsense about needing to socialize or sumthin' like that." He said trying hard to speak clearly, but failing. "Though I think it's 'cause she was afraid to come by herself." He adds. Really, he's usually far more eloquently spoken than this.

"Friends is good... s'why we're all here after all right?" He asked with a laugh.

[Chuuya is out to have fun. He's dressed sharply but in a relaxed sort of manner, a glass of wine in hand as he prowls the pool tables, grinning and offering a playful challenge to anyone who looks like they know what they're doing. He's been playing pool since he was 16, so he's actually pretty decent at it.

That being said, if anyone assumes he's cheating just because he can manipulate gravity and leaves his glass floating next to him while taking a shot, he's going to have to demand a match to prove them wrong.]

[Chuuya... actually has a very good voice, for how rough and tumble he tends to talk. Get a few drinks in him, and he'll happily join the crew playing around with the karaoke machine... singing some sort of rock song or another, because he's Like That and his VA is the singer of the anime series OPs.]

[Even for all his efforts to keep his drinking as light as possible so as to make the night last, Chuuya will probably still be pretty much wasted by the time midnight comes around. He might be plastered to the counter of the dive bar, he might be sitting on the ceiling with his ability, and he also might be well on his way to passing the hell out in a corner somewhere. The sky is the limit!

Or the ceiling, anyway.

Someone might want to make sure he doesn't end up passed out in an alleyway somewhere.]

[ Saya's busy mingling and socializing and destroying people at pool (rich people games her owner taught her + amazing dexterity are a benefit in these matters), but she's mostly interested in watching people sing. She only recently got back into it, herself. ]

You're quite good. [ She says so from just to the side when Chuuya exits the stage, a bright red drink in her hand. ]
