( Ko approaches someone, looking a little sheepish, but holding something in his hands. It'd be small enough for him to be able to hold it, and for the rowlet on his shoulder to have taken it from someone's hands. A device or a wallet, maybe. )

Is this yours? Hinoki here is having a bit of a rebellious streak lately.

( And Hinoki does not look one bit remorseful. He chirps helpfully. )

02. ) IN TRAINING

( Ko isn't terribly good at this whole fighting thing yet, but the nature of the place seems to necessitate his learning at least a little self defense and how to handle the weapon he's chosen to go forward with.

But it seems like that sword might be ... not the best fit. He's trying out a maneuver with a two-handed sword, but the necrotic right hand of his seems to fail, and he drops the thing where he stands. Panting, he picks it up with the left.

Someone help him? )

01. ) SO FRESH SO CLEAN

( He's really working up a sweat here.

This slight, small young man with his sleeves rolled up, looking more like he's suited for an office job than what he's doing at present. Really getting into the corners for spring cleaning; they're supposed to be making furtive preparations but, oddly enough, the prospect of cleaning and working hard at it seems calming to Ko.

So he goes for it, silent in a room with a few other people. After a little while, he's standing from his task enough to approach someone working alongside him. )

You've been working hard. Care to take a break with me?

02. ) LOST

( Ko's been separated from those closest to him, but there's still work to be done. Having been paired off with someone else alone, they stand with hands joined under a fairy ribbon. His hand is the necrotic one and cold to the touch.

Stepping closer to the rod, Ko turns to his companion: )

01. ) FOR ATSUHIDE & TAKAKAGE

//////////////////////////////// HOME ////

( Ko has his head laid in Takakage's lap, legs draped over Atsuhide's. The golden hour sunlight coming through the window is pure peace, lighting up the living room to herald the night. He might very well be able to sleep like this ... and he does fall asleep for a moment, mouth opening and soft sleepy-baby noises coming from him.

He stirs after a little while, though, after the sun has set. )

Oh. ... Sorry. How long was I asleep?

02. ) FOR SHINO

//////////////////////////////// HOME ////

( Shino and Ko baking together has been something like a bit of a tradition ever since they found they both liked figuring out recipes. With some less-sweet brownies baking in the oven, Ko is scratching away into a journal at the coffee table. His head comes up, though, looking towards where Shino is seated. )

Those should be done by now, I think.

( He makes to stand up, and stretches his arms high overhead. )

... I think I want to try something new with the brownies, though, but it might be a bit too sweet for you. Are you open to it?

( And in he heads towards the kitchen. )

[ Reading a book while Ko is sleeping so peacefully . . . he feels like he can barely focus on the words in front of him. Ko is divinity, even now (especially now) that they're in a relationship, but its something he can bear a little easier now. Less DLRing, more calm these days. If only a little.

Despite that, though, he feels like he can't focus on anything else other than being very, very still. Ko doesn't sleep easily. He does look over at Eburi once or twice (with a rather severe expression), but finds that he's not really doing much to disturb Ko.

When Ko stirs, he feels elated and sad at once. He cards a hand through Ko's hair. ]

Not very long. I'd say forty-five minutes at the least. Would you like to go to bed?

[ Atsuhide would have fallen asleep too, were it not for the fear of waking Ko up with his own snoring. He's just a touch bleary, though, seeing Ko sleeping so peacefully there.

Kurosaki looks pretty tense, too. He hasn't turned the page in twenty minutes.

Atsuhide tips his head back, closes his eyes, and listens to Ko's quiet noises of slumber.

When he wakes, Atsuhide rights himself and listens to Kurosaki answer him. ]

I can carry you. You look beat.

( Bed sounds nice, but he's unsure if he'll be able to get to sleep at all. More pressing, however, is the way their care makes him feel. It'd show on his face: cheeks reddened, averting his gaze for a moment before he answers. )

... I'm awake, I think.

( Exhaling, Ko sits up properly between them, tipping his head back against the back of the couch. )

I hope I didn't keep either of you from moving when you needed to.

It's quite alright, Ko.

[ Takakage slides his hand through Ko's tresses, landing his palm on his pretty face. It feels terribly intimate, that soft tone of his voice, and for a moment he forgets Eburi is in the room, too.

He clears his throat. ]

I can make us some tea, if you like. It could help to relax you further to get back to sleep?

[ Takakage sure is pushy; he just said he thinks he's awake and yet offered tea anyway. He doesn't say anything, though. Just watching him pet at his face.

They're... kind of cute together. Takakage calling him Ko, not Ko-sama or God. It's odd. He thought he'd be jealous. ]

Or I can cook for you. Think it's been a bit since you ate.

What are you thinking?

[ Shino asks and, of course, he's generally open to going along with any of Ko's ideas but that doesn't mean he doesn't want to know what they are. The younger pops up to follow along and he thinks the brownies they've made are pretty good as is but then again his tastes aren't always the best to judge by! ]

I'll try things.

S'mores brownies.

( He takes out what he needs; milk chocolate, marshmallows, graham crackers. Then he takes the brownies out with the oven mitt on his hand; the milk chocolate bars go over the still-hot brownies, with the marshmallows on after that. Then back in the oven. )

Just until the marshmallows puff up ... should only be a minute or two.

( He leans against the counter, smiling warmly at Shino. )

How have you been liking it here, Shino? I feel like I need to check in more.

[ Shino looks thoughtful, though, it's hard to immediately gauge how much the combo might make the brownies sweeter. He's still willing to try. ]

That's a fun idea!

[ They should definitely be able to take some cute pictures too! ]

It's different. Sometimes, I'm not sure what I should be using my time for but you don't need to worry over me!

( His smile is a little sad at that. )

01. ) FOR HIJIKATA

( Ko hadn't really expected to get entirely competent at fighting overnight, really. That would be unrealistic, and he's used to hard work covering for his deficit in singing, anyway. But now that a real fight is here, he feels way too out of his depth.

This sort of thing only comes with ample actual practice, doesn't it?

Which is to say: he's currently being pinned by someone twice his size in Nightwake, doing his best to try to get his hands out from his grip. It's not going very well. )

02. ) FOR TWILIGHT

//////////////////////////////// NIGHTWAKE ////

( This is so far out of his wheelhouse it isn't even funny; having seen Twilight end up getting positively taken out by the cursed energy taking over the realm, he's really doing his best to keep it together.

Just focus, breathe, he tells himself, and the adrenaline helps him to pull this stranger to his feet. He doesn't stop to think its dangerous, just operating on pure instinct and the need to get others and himself to safety. )

Can you run? I don't like the look of those—

( There's a trio of people heading for them pretty fast; one of them leading the pack gets way too close, and Ko starts to book it as best he can with his arm around Twilight's waist. )

03. ) FOR ATSUHIDE/TAKAKAGE

( Ko doesn't like being told what to do. He likes being forced into things even less.

Though things have calmed down, he can't help but want to get back in there. Help people. It's making him antsy to sit around at home and let Atsuhide and Takakage take care of him; the anxiety is noticeable, as well as the scowl on his face. )

I... I can-

[ He doesn't sound as sure as he tries to. Touching the veil in the sky had hurt. Hitting the ground had hurt. Rising, putting a foot in front of the other, after that, hurt less, a lot less even, but unlike the other two it wasn't an echo of an instant that was already receding by the time he'd begun to reckon with the pain. This was a pain he had to summon the will keep running into.

He'd fought before, been wounded, but never badly, not often. Never had to flee. Together with the newness of this whole place it's more than enough to shake him. Ko's presence helps. He's a stranger, but his hand and his words still manage to give focus to a wavering moment.

There's just the question of whether that changes the result. Loping along in a huddle like this can only delay their capture fractionally; they'll obviously lose a race with anyone who can run full out. ]

If they reach us... keep running.

[ Leave him, effectively. Did he sound a little cool there? ...not that he feels great about it, but he still views his arrival here as part of his grand ambition, one that would be undercut if anyone was sacrifice for him. And he lives in the hope that he can stabilize his magic against whatever the veil did to him long enough to fight, if he just has a little longer... ]

( Keep running?

Ko looks to Twilight, who he doesn't know from most other folks in Ellipsa, and he finds that its still not something he's willing to do. He's already had too much survivor's guilt. Twilight doesn't need to know that, though; he just shakes his head. )

No, we can both get out of this. I can get us a little distance.

( He casts his hand out, and a burst of flame explodes out from his palm in an arc, lighting up the night. He seems a little panicked at the fire, but swallows thickly and turns fully to the people chasing them. )

[The bulky man pressing Ko against the wall and roughly patting him for his wallet goes down when Hijikata's pommel collides with his head. Knocking people out with blunt force is by no means a guarantee that they'll come out of it fully intact, but even so, they'd better thank him for not using his blade.]

Tenjin-san! Are you okay?

[He's illuminated by green flames floating around him, having made the fire harmless as a precaution -the last thing he needs it accidentally setting the city alight on top of the anarchy that's broken out. He grabs the groaning criminal by the cuff and drags him over to a lamppost, then handcuffs his wrists behind his back and the pole, but his attention stays on Ko.]

Do you need medical attention?

[If so, he won't be able to provide that, but he'll at least take him to a healer.]

I'm fine! Thank you, Hijikata-san!

( God, he's glad to see Hijikata. He watches him handcuff the guy, righting himself to standing and stepping a little closer to his friend. The man is looking pretty dazed with that hit to the head. )

I'm a little tougher than I was since arriving here, but not as ... battle-ready as I thought. You must have your hands full.

Oh, don't ask. This is one of the worst shitshows I've seen since I got here.

[He rummages through his Hammerspace Purse and offer Ko a potion.]

Drink this. It's 'Feel Invincible'. It'll make you look all blinged out, but it'll protect you from pysical attacks.

[He absolutely means that "all blinged out" part. If Ko drinks it, he'll glitter all over the place.]

( From what Ko's seen of Hijikata, he's pretty dedicated to his job. That's respectable.

He takes the drink and looks it over before taking a swig. Ack. Sparkling from the limbs towards center is quite a sight. )

Oh. I guess you weren't kidding.

[ Oh, this is going to be miserable: Takakage has to put his foot down with Ko. He feels a bit ill, or maybe like he'll DLR any moment. Hands trembling a little, the visions of Ko being hurt swimming around in his brain, both a pure, unfettered fear and something that he needs to keep in mind to steel himself.

To say no to his God, before, was impossible. He never even wanted to.

But now he has to.

He sets down a bowl of katsudon in front of Ko on the coffee table. ]

I implore you to eat, Ko. You can't pour from an empty cup.

[ ko can ko can pour from an empty cup ko can do anything be anything he is light and love and love and love and l o v e and

Takakage inhales deeply, as though steeling himself. If he were to allow Ko to leave without rest, he could very well end up with him being hurt beyond saving.

And that can never happen. ]

[ He is just full of surprises. Atsuhide sees it isn't easy for him in the slightest. Inhaling like that, settling himself down to be what Ko needs, even if Ko doesn't want it.

Has to say something as he comes to sit next to Ko on the couch with his own bowl of katsudon.

Honestly, he doesn't feel much like eating, either. ]

C'mon. I worked hard on it.

( Ko stares at Takakage a bit, blinking a few times before he lowers his gaze to the katsudon. )

I'll wait for it to cool a bit, but I'll eat. Thank you both.

( Effectively humbled, Ko reaches out to grasp onto Takakage's hand, squeezing it with eye contact held ... Looking to Atsuhide to place his hand to his knee briefly before sitting back on the couch. )

You're right. I can't help anyone if I'm running myself into the ground. ... I still want to, though ...
