Going Downhill

This is… interesting.

[When she had read ‘sentient slinkies’ she had not been certain of what to expect. Some kind of snake, perhaps? What she hadn’t thought to find would be what appear to be several very large toys enjoying the dips and rises of the landscape.]

I--... hm.

[She plants a hand against her hip.]

What are we supposed to do about these things..?

Giant Slinkies...?

[Rinku stares. She scratches her head and blinks.]

Should we try and break them apart? I feel kinda bad for them.

[It is a headscratcher, indeed.]

I don't, um...

[Hmm.]

Surely the best thing to be done would be to simply leave them be until they move on by themselves. [A small frown. Well, they did come out all this way...] Maybe they just need a little encouragement.

[roundandaround]

Yeah, if they're just having fun that's good... Though the guild board said they were attacking people, right?

[Some of the Giant Slinkies start bounding and rolling over toward them.]

What do you think they're doing?

It... looks like they're just having fun.

[She rubs the back of her hair, unsure, and shakes her head.]

Do you think we ought to go down there and see if something happens?

[roundandaround]

I guess so. They're only a problem if they attack, and then it's all right to fight them!

[She's already headed down there, looking at the Giant Slinkies excitedly.]

[godofdust]

He--

[She's about to call the girl back, maybe tell her to be careful, then she shrugs and moves to catch up. It isn't as if she isn't more than a match for anything they might end up coming up against with these odd creatures, after all!]

[roundandaround]

[Rinku runs down and stumbles to a stop, watching the Giant Slinkies closer up. A few of them seem interested, and one rolls over towards them.]

Okay. we just gotta figure out what it'll do... stay back!

[Rinku raises her voice suddenly as the Giant Slinky lunges. She manages to dodge just before it slams its coils down. A flower where she'd been standing starts to wilt.]

Energy sapping, right?

[Guizhong definitely doesn't need to be told to stay back - she's well out of the way by the time the slinky slams itself down, more concerned about Rinku than herself and moving swiftly to the other woman's side.]

Of some fashion. [Her brow furrows a little bit.] We had best not let them touch us. Which season did you say you were?

[Time to come up with a plan.]

Summer! Why?

[She's already summoning a flame to her hand.]

Mine is spring! Perhaps we can come up with a better plan than simply throwing magic at the creatures?

[Granted, they do not have a lot of time to come up with one now that they have caught their attention, but Guizhong was not a reknowned war strategist for nothing.]

We are already at a disadvantage when they have the higher ground.

[roundandaround]

Combining two seasons makes us stronger!

[She throws a fireball at the Giant Slinky and draws her sword. It rears up to try and trap them.]

How about we try a fire tornado or something?

Got it!

[She was going to suggest that they drive the things off rather than actually attempt to hurt them, but it doesn't look like they're going to be given to much choice! Guizhong hadn't expected something like gigantic slinkies to be so aggressive.

With a semi-performative gesture of her hand she whips up a stiff breeze, forming it into a spiraling column.]

Light it up!

Mystery of Weapons

[Really, now… mysterious weapons in the middle of nowhere, all sticking out of the ground and so inviting to anyone who might decide to pick one up?]

… Well it’s obviously a trap.

[And yet, Guizhong does not turn her back on it, because she is nothing if not curious about everything and this is a puzzle, a mystery that she simply cannot leave well enough alone. She doesn’t touch anything yet, circling a few of the embedded weapons with an intrigued expression. After a few moments her attention goes up to someone nearby (perhaps they came with her, perhaps not) and she lifts her eyebrows slightly.]

I’ve never been much for melee combat. [She admits lightly.] Do you want to take a stab at it, or shall I go first?

Berry Mayhem [GATHERING]

[She had heard of Bearries before. Even seen them, though it had been a while since she had been able to get close enough to one to get a good look. When a gathering quest for them appears on the boards she reasons that it cannot be too difficult, and she rarely turns down an interesting or unique food… and the pay isn’t bad, either.

So Guizhong marches herself into the Spring segment, entirely in her element (as it were), on the lookout for the shy and elusive creatures. She’s carrying a sack of fresh vegetables on her back which she seems to barely notice the weight of despite the size of it.]

Now… I do believe they should be around here somewhere. [She says out loud, looking to the person who came along with her (or perhaps just some lucky random stranger also on the same mission).] I don’t suppose you have some supernatural sense for finding bears in the woods, do you? I’m afraid it isn’t amongst my many talents.

[ He had seen the quest, but he hadn't really intended to go on it. Except for in instances when he's spending time with someone, Venti spends most of his time in the Spring segment. He's perched up in a tree when she appears.

He had mostly just been spending time out here enjoying the occasional breeze and otherwise fresh air. He knows that voice, though. It doesn't take him more than few moments before he decides to hop right down from the tree and take a few steps to approach her. He smiles, looking around himself. ]

The bears? Unfortunately, no. I am good at looking from the trees, though. I haven't seen one yet.

[ A head tilt. ]

Doesn't mean they're not around, though.

Hmm, right you are.

[She plants a hand on her hip, looks around, and then turns her attention up to the bard perched in the tree.]

Well, down you get, you're going to help me.

[This does not appear to be a question.]

[notgrande]

I'm coming, I'm coming.

[ He notes the tone, and opts against debate. Not that he has any real reason to debate it. He enjoys her company. He floats to the ground, landing with a small grin before he closes the short distance between them. ]

You're the boss.

[ It sounds playful. He doesn't mind in the least - clear by the fact that he's following her. ]

So where have you been already?

[godofdust]

Oh, mostly around here. Then I happened to find you instead of my quarry. How lucky for me.

[And despite his age, Venti gets a hand ruffled through his hair like he's a child. Guizhong is never shy about physical contact or about making people feel like they're being playfully mothered by her.]

How long have you been up in that tree? You must have seen something about while you've been perched up there.

[notgrande]

That is very lucky for you!

[ He says without a moment of hesitation. Of course he means it, too. He's momentarily surprised by the hair ruffle, a slight dusting of pink on his cheeks makes that obvious. But he's not upset by it. He giggles in amusement of it and nods. ]

Ah - hm.

[ He considers. ]

A couple hours. [ Or longer, he wasn't keeping track. ] I've seen people. Not the bears. They headed -- [ And he points, with his left hand forward. ] This way. I can't speak to how successful they were, though.

Hmm. I expect it might be more bothersome than not if we follow along behind other people.

[Especially if Venti can't speak to their success. They could just end up on a wild goose chase and that isn't what Guizhong is out here for!]

Let's go a different way. If nothing else, I shall be able to enjoy the company.

They probably would have them scared away before we got to them anyway.

[ He sees that she's taking the lead, and he's fine with that. He'll shift, moving to step up next to her so that they can walk side by side as they start on their way. ]

I think we have just as good of a chance of finding something this way than anyone does another way. Regardless, I'm honored to be in good company. Have you kept out of trouble?

Oh, me? Always.

[She grins at him. Never, naturally.]

I'm sure Morax is quite bored with how little trouble I've been causing him. Maybe I should do something special to liven things up for him a little.
