Sometime after a less than stellar conference call, Reiner sends an invitation to everyone from his world. "You're Invited to a Holiday Party," the store-bought invitation reads in swirling seasonally decorated letters. How very fancy!

The invitation specifies three things. Number one: it is a celebration of the holidays. Number two: it is a celebration of a year of a successful non-aggression pact. Number three: everyone is invited to bring a "plus one."

Surely, nothing will go wrong with this plan. Surely!

The party itself takes place at an inn in Stormreach, part of which has been reserved by Reiner. The inn is made of stone and wood, its aesthetic closely resembling buildings in Paradis. There are several spacious rooms available: places for eating, places for mingling, cozy corners for more private conversations, and access to the inn's bar.

• In one of those cozy spaces, one might find a lit candle known as a Candle of True Feelings. In its presence, people understand their feelings better and feel inspired to talk about them. How very curious!
  
  
• Of note: magic supersedes technology in Stormreach. One is far more likely to run across potions and crystals than gaming systems… But that hasn't stopped Reiner from setting up a gaming system in a corner, anyway.
  
  
• If one steps outside for a breath of (cold) fresh air, they'll find themselves close to the clock tower. Local legend claims that those who kiss on top of it are destined to never breakup. However, that legend has not been tested … yet.
  
  
• During the party, a table is filled with various gifts for the "+1s," created by those from Paradis and Marley. The gifts include knitted clothing (scarves, mittens, socks), chocolates, sweet baked goods, and fidget toys made of wood or stone. Feel free to partake, +1s!

Naturally, there is a wide assortment of food—some of which is best described as "ungodly spicy"—with a particular focus on potato-based foods. Also, peaches and pineapples, for Reasons™.

Okay. -Okay. [A tight squeeze in return.] I won't give up my safety. But - if they do figure out how to go between worlds whenever we want, then maybe, I could come back to Ellipsa?

[Rinku sniffs. Squeezes Evangeline.]

I want that too... I don't wanna give up Nakano for Nightwake, but I don't wanna do the opposite either. They're both home. --Korone-chan told me once that that's normal.

So I guess... if it's gonna be okay. [She nuzzles Evangeline and takes in a sharp, soggy breath.] I hope so.

I hope so too. -I'll try my best, so that you don't have to worry.

[Evangeline's tears slow down, at least.]

Me too. [sniff] It'll be okay, right? I'll keep fighting to protect you guys, and performing to get people's spirits up, and whatever all else I can do to help. And I'll keep trying not to worry, but... I'll try to tell you if I am, too, instead of hiding it. If you want. I want you to be happy and be okay.

[abnormalizes]

Please tell me. I don't want you to suffer alone because you're worried about making me upset. We'll get through this together.

[roundandaround]

[Rinku sniffles. She's not shaking anymore, at least, and she snuggles on Evangeline.]

Really? Thank you, Neechan. ...I think I feel a little better now. But are you okay?

[abnormalizes]

I'm okay. -I feel bad that I made you feel bad, though. But other than that I'm fine.

[roundandaround]

I didn't wanna make you feel bad. But if I can't hide that kinda thing, then I'll do my best to make you happy anyway!

[She reluctantly pulls away and looks at the candle, then tilts her head.]

I feel like I can't hide anything right now. Is it the same for you? Maybe this is one of those magic candles from the store.

[abnormalizes]

-I feel that way too, I think? I probably wouldn't have said some of those things otherwise...

[The parts admitting that she's scared, especially.]

The candle of true feelings, or something like that?

Yeah! That one!

[She nods and inspects the candle with a curious noise.]

Do you think someone brought it to help them or their friends with something? Like a love confession? It is that time of year.

[abnormalizes]

That's not a bad guess. Talking about feelings and stuff is pretty hard. -But it would've been nice to, like, label it.

[roundandaround]

I guess I wouldn't have looked either way. [Rinku rubs the back of her head.] Sorry. Even if I didn't know anyway.

[abnormalizes]

Not your fault. It's good we talked about it, anyway.

[roundandaround]

...Yeah! Yeah, it is! Even if it hurts. [Rinku wipes her face with the back of her glove.] Because then we'll get to be happy later, and maybe no one has to worry anymore. ...Do you want another hug? I could turn into a snake and try it that way, or a cat so you could pick me up, I'm fluffy.

[abnormalizes]

Snake hug please.

[roundandaround]

'Kay.

[Rinku latches back onto Evangeline and shifts. She really has been working on her shapeshifting; it's not long before she's full snake and draping around Evangeline's shoulders. And by full snake we mean long snake. Look at her. She's, like, 20 feet long. She's trailing out the door.]

[abnormalizes]

You're so cute!!

[Happily squeezing her snake sister. Day immediately improved.]

[roundandaround]

[Rinku loops gently around Evangeline's arms and shoulders a few times, like a very strange shawl or cape. She rubs her little face on Evangeline's.]

Really? You think so? I thought this would be fun, it's one of the longest snakes and people said using a big snake as a weighted blanket felt nice.

[abnormalizes]

It does feel nice! Like an extra extra extra strength hug.

[roundandaround]

[She tightens her coils a little in response, then relaxes them.]

Really? That's great! I didn't wanna actually hurt you. Burmese pythons can eat something as big as a human, so I don't wanna scare anyone. Apparently they're an invasive species in Florida and sometimes they eat alligators. But I just wanted to hug people and make them smile.

If I was afraid of touching something that could eat me I'd have a way more boring sex life.

...Also I think the candle is still working.

[roundandaround]

[Tea kettle snake. She gives a surprised jolt that courses through her whole long snake body, tail thumping on the floor.]

Don't get eaten by anyone else either please aaaaaa.

Maybe we should move out of here because this is really embarrassing and I feel like I'm gonna explode, like not that I didn't know you were already doing that but I don't wanna hear about it because you're my sister and it's embarrassing enough when you hear about stuff I do and congratulate everybody involved in public! I mean maybe that made it less embarrassing to hold the kissing booth again but that was fun and also a public service but still!
