home The year is 1901, and a boy from Japan is obsessed with steamboats and Jules Verne's "From the Earth To the Moon". He's hyperfixated on making a rocket ship, starting by making a steam boat. Said steam boat ends up taking him halfway across the ocean, and eventually he finds himself in Los Angeles after his boat is tugged to shore. There's a race in America with a large amount of prize money, and in order to win it and get a ship back to Japan, Appare turns his steamboat into a steam/gas hybrid car and enters the race! The whole series is about said race, which is full of death and destruction as cowboys and outlaws rule the land around them.
