Guild Playing Games With my Heart

Part 1

A new message on everyone's smartphones says that all the Guilds are finally open for business! Instructions on how to get to each one of them are sent with the message.

Each Season has their own Guild (Winter in Frostreign, Spring in Blossomcrown, Summer in Solarpeak and Autumn in Amberfall). Originally they were formed when the world was thriving and the natives were power holders, now they serve a purpose for aiding Otherworlders.

Although there are some aesthetic differences, all of the guilds have the same basic layout, which the newcomers are given a tour of:

The main floor is for information, containing computers that are connected between all guilds. Using them brings up holographic boards which contain information on each of the segments, with a focus on their home segment. You can find out here what the weather is like in each segment, what quests are available, an explanation on how the Flower Yards work, and even a list of powers that have been discovered and how to practice them.

The second floor is a place to go for combat practice, or just practice using your powers. There are simulators here that can be used to create a space to test your skills against virtual monster opponents or against other power holders, all with safety precautions to keep anyone from being injured.

The third and final floor is meant for relaxation and provides a temporary place to nap when necessary. Those who do quests on a regular basis will receive a key that opens their own, personal room for relaxation that can be customized as much as they want. It's void pocket space that doesn't appear unless the specific key is used or the owner invites someone in from the inside.

It's also the floor where the leaders of the guild have their own private space in that's a restricted area. They have their public office there as well.

However, the power holders are expecting everyone outside, in the backyard of the Guilds...

Part 2

The main event of the opening day of the guilds is a lesson on how to become more attuned with your new elemental magic. Some characters may already feel comfortable with them, but the Power Holders wish to help anyone who might still feel like they're struggling.

Behind the guilds there is big open space. A yard meant for lessons like this. Each of the power holders is own their own stage (even Sawyer, who seems rather reluctant to be there) and announces the name of the lesson: Elemental Dancing.

They explain each in their own way that dancing while focusing on their basic element is a way to start properly feeling the element. The dance can be anything, as long as their bodies are moving and they can feel their magical energy align with the element.

To demonstrate, they dance:

Olwen dances a slow dance that looks a little like ballet, with water flowing naturally around him and increasing in quantity as he goes.

Jade has a much quicker dance method, like she's dancing at a party and is surrounded by wind that sometimes helps her even jump higher.

Dawn's dance is a passionate belly dance accompanied by rings of fire around her that turns into a pink fire so she doesn't burn herself as the flames come closer to herself.

Sawyer, as reluctant as he, goes full breakdance with each of his tricks forming pillars of earth that he can use to dance even more.

Once their demonstration is over, they encourage new power holders to give it a try themselves and remind them that they can dance however they please. They also advise that the dances can be attempted with a partner, as long as they can learn to trust one another. Sometimes magic is far stronger when done together... but it may also backfire.

I Came In Like a Questboard

Anyone interested is encouraged to join their guild. The staff explains that it's very beneficial, as they would get access to the upper floors that just today were shown to them, and that nearby stores would give guild members discounts for potions and other such adventuring necessities.

Even without joining, all of the first floors services are available for everyone. That includes the questboard that is now on display, though it only shows four quests for now.

There are some necessary preparations still going on with the questboard itself, but the staff assures that later there will be more of them, with some permanent ones added to the mix that would help with making the Segments safer for those without powers to explore as well.

Why not find a friend and go out on an adventure together? The guild does recommend doing quests together with someone, rather than alone.

Well, except Sawyer of Autumn, if he's around. He will always encourage people to go on their own and claims it's an act of bravery. Oh, and make sure to check the Beastiary before heading out, once you've picked your targets!

Quests

CW/TW: possible nudity, possible death

Name: Skeletal Mischief
Rewards: 100 Moon Coins per 2 Snowskeletons vanquished
Location: Winter Segment
Description: For some time Snowskeletons have bothered natives who visit the Flower Yard. Usually the only nearby place of peace has now become a nuisance to visit. Those who attempt it usually return to the city in just their underwear (if they’re lucky). A request has come for the guilds to get rid of the Snowskeletons near the Flower Yard in whatever means necessary.
OOC notes: Snowskeletons have two types: either they're snowmen made from bone or they're skeletons made of snow. Either way they're definitely not friendly and often disguise themselves among the snow to surprise their prey. They're not really out to kill anyone, but may sometimes accidentally do it. Instead they're looking to steal clothes and wear them. Basically they're notorious bandits.

CW/TW: mind altering

Name: That Very Big Tree
Rewards: 500 Moon Coins, Loot you find
Location: Spring Segment
Description: The researchers are curious about the “One Very Big Tree”. They want to know what the tree does and are asking people to take a look and report back what they find.
OOC notes: One Very Big Tree is hollow on the inside and looks like a big tree house. The higher someone climbs it the less they feel like they’re themselves. In fact, they will turn into the exact opposite of themselves. There are also dangerous Gale Squirrels living inside that use wind magic of their own to attack!

Reaching the top, however, will reward them with feathers of a mighty monstrous bird that can be used to enhance any weapon so that they fly back to the user's hand. Only one feather per character, magic stops them from taking more than one.

CW/TW: possible death, possible mind altering

Name: Treasure Ship
Rewards: 500 Moon Coins, any treasure they find
Location: Summer Segment
Description: “The abandoned ship in the Great Ocean Lake used to be a treasure ship! So why not go fetch the treasure? I’m sure it can be used to make some neat weapons or armor. I’d love to help do that, I’m an expert in using treasure for enhancements! But I’m not strong enough to go get them myself. The fastest route there is from the Airship Station!”
OOC notes: The ship is full of Octokitties that are cats with six to eight limbs. They’re territorial and won’t appreciate anyone coming to their ship for any reason and will attack viciously. They can also spit ink that includes side effects of going into a berserker mode and not caring who is an ally and who is an enemy. But the treasure is real.

CW/TW: eaten alive, death

Name: The Blue Flash
Rewards: 700 Moon Coins for finding a lost one*
Location: Autumn Segment
Description: “Help, my friend disappeared on our trip to visit the old lady of Autumn Airship Station. We walked outside to stretch our legs after our airship journey and then there was a blue flash in the corner of my eye and he was gone! Nothing at all remained and I was too scared to go look for him so I ran back inside. I’ve heard this isn’t the first time a blue flash has abducted someone!”
OOC notes: The reason for disappearances is the Angler Will-o'-the-wisps: Most will-o'-the-wisps are harmless, but there are types that act like anglerfish. They take the form of other monsters and toss a "fishing line" out of a dark bush to make it look like a normal will-o'-the-wisp was trying to get their attention. When the prey gets too close, they will attempt to devour them to get more soul energy. They have left their normal place in the forests and invaded some bushes around the Segment.

*Reward stays the same even for just figuring out the mystery behind disappearances.

Enhanced to Meet You

Part 1

Enhancing items is a magical specialty in Ellipsa. The power of words determines how your item of choice gets enchanted. If you're trying to make an armor stronger, it would be wise to use kind and encouraging words but a weapon might need violent and determined words. Enhancement include defense boosts, attack boosts, health stealing and even adding status effects. All of these effects aren't permanent, but they should last for at least a month before fading away.

The workshops around districts will offer teaching to anyone who is interested in learning the basics of basic item enhancement. For more advanced things (like learning to make the enhancements permanent) the natives suggests taking an apprenticeship in the Magical Manor of Amberfall or Tower of Potions of Coldreach. Especially with potions, as those are more advanced than what they are showing.

Of course, armor and weapons aren't the only things that can be enhanced anything is possible as long as it's a non-living thing.

Part 2

A group of mischievous Imps are causing trouble. They're doing everything they can to make people angry (like dropping items on people's toes) as they try their magic. This could happen to anyone, even otherworlders testing their new magic.

Due to their mischief, a group of magical performers who were meant to enhance some animal statues to make them move around in a show ended up cursing a lot while the magic was happening. Because of that the animal statues did come to life, but they're angry and started running around, ramming into people left and right. It's especially alarming when one of the statues enhanced is a giant elephant, and some of the statues were meant to be used in a bullfighting show. Those are some very, very angry stone bulls coming at people in high speeds!

The natives don't want to break the statues, but they would like the statues to be stopped. With kind and loving words the effects of the curses will vanish and the statues will calm down and act like they were supposed to.

Of course they would appreciate catching as many Imps as possible so they could be returned back outside into the Summer Segment.

- Remember to content warn as necessary!

- Event starting date is March 17th, but the opening day of the guilds and the elemental dance lessons happen for a week so everyone who wants to attend them can have a chance to do so.

- NPC Power Holders can be interacted with, but it will all be handwaved. Feel free to ask questions on the questions thread if you're unsure of how the interactions would go.

- Starting in April, quests will be posted bimonthly and there will be a Quest Mingle available for people to use to thread out the quests! This format is just here because it's the first event where they're introduced.

- These particular quests are canonically open until end of month.

Part 1: [Kainé stands outside the Winter guild with her arms crossed, her expression even. Really though, she's contemplating the pros and cons of joining a guild. On the one hand it gives her something to do, quests and such. On the other, it goes against her reservations about going into the city. Even after making a few friends, at least that's what she thinks she can call them, she's still wary of people.

She sighs and drops her hands. May as well check it out.

Part 2 As Kainé is exploring, she makes her way out to the yard behind the guilds. She stands in the back, watching the performances and then listens to the instructions.

Oh fuck no!

[And immediately turns to walk the other way. Unfortunately, there's another body heading through the door and she smacks right into them, stumbling backwards a bit.]

Watch where the hell you're going fuckwit!

I Came in Like a Quest Board

Part 1 [Finally! Some fucking action! Kainé is perusing the quests posted on the board, trying to decide which she wants to do. The disembodied voice of Tyrann can be heard giving his two-cents as well.

Part 2:

[She decided to help. Whether that would turn out to be a good or bad thing, who knows.

Kainé is currently locked in combat with her swords parrying the horns of a giant bull statue as she holds it back. Her strength is amazing as they seem to be in a stalemate.

Though she's not happy about it.]

The best reward is a good plan. [ Saya's going to just ignore the Shade. Kainé is the one she cares about talking to. ]

A plan? [Kainé snorts a laugh.] That's Weiss shit. I just run in and hit it until it dies.

[She turns towards Saya and smirks, putting a hand on her hip.]

Only if you cut the plan shit.

[She points to the listing of the skeletons.]

This one sounds like it'll give us a good fight. What do you say?

I didn't mean like we need a huddle and to decide who goes first. Just that going for the biggest reward is a good idea.

[ Sort of amused, because -- ] I'm used to fighting on my own, or no one being able to keep up with me. So I wouldn't know a combat plan if it bit me.

The skeletons sound fun. They're probably hard to kill. No blood to drain or organs to puncture.

Let's have Saya find out she's intersex in this quest! The skeles can steal her clothes.

[Well that's no fun! Pick another, Sunshine; something with a little more guts and gore. Kya ha ha!

Kainé looks to Saya and puts a hand on her hip, giving her a somewhat smug look.]

I say it sounds fucking great!

[ Ignoring the Shade is go, fuck that guy ]

Great! I'm confident we can handle some bags of bones.

[Kainé hears Tyrann grumble in the back of her mind. There's nothing more annoying to him than being ignored.

Let's get the hell out of here then!

[It doesn't take them long to get to the Flower Yard, Kainé's gaze darting here and there in search of enemies. She summons her weapons, a pair of jagged looking longswords.]

See anything? We better not have come all the way out here to find shit!

[sangreine]

[ Tyrann can fucking well get used to it! ]

I'm right beside you. [ Cue travel montage! ]

I don't, but -- oh! [ One of the skeletons pops up behind Saya and grabs her jacket. Saya, her sword held ready, just laughs. ]

Well, then. I think it's getting fresh.

[ She casually gives the thing a kick and shatters it into a million pieces -- except the arms, which are clinging to her clothes still. ]

Fucking hell! They'll steal the goddamn clothes right off your back!

[She hears it before it has a chance to strike, Kainé's sword decapitating the skeleton causing it to crumble. They're easy to take out, one by one. Just like most Shades.

But they're not going to be so gracious as to appear one at a time. In fact, around the duo, a ring pops up and surrounds them, another around those and another around those. Kainé looks to Saya out of the corner of her eye and smirks.]

I'll kill all you little fucks!

[sangreine]

[ Saya shoots Kainé a wink. ] Not if I kill them first.

[ With that, she's off! At a speed too fast for humans to even follow, she's blowing through the skeletons left, right, and center. But... there are a lot of them. ]

Enhanced to Meet You

[outofoffice]

[ From seemingly nowhere, a green twink materializes on the back of the rampaging bull, with no explanation save the glowing teal feathers that briefly float around before disappearing. For some reason he looks unconcerned with what's going on, using a hand to grip one of the bull's horns.

With the other, he raises a fist in a cheer. ]

You got this! You're totally strong!

[ ? Is this helping ? ]

Of course I got this shit-eating, piss bag! Now get the hell out of the way, unless you want to die!

[And with that, she kicks out, her strength even more inhuman, and strikes the bull in the chest; sending it skidding backwards and into a building.]

I'm gonna kill the shit out of you!

[Fuck not destroying the statues. A blue glyph appears behind her and she unleashes a large orb of swirling blue and white lightning magic, followed by a barrage of smaller projectiles. Upon impact, the bull statue shatters into pieces, Kainé crossing her arms and looks at her work with disdain.]

[outofoffice]

[ Venti makes haste off the bull when he's warned -- she doesn't have to tell him twice!! But for some reason he's still hanging around, watching her work with interest. Different worlds mean different magic, after all, and it's not a bad idea to get familiar with some of them.

Of course, it's also just fun to watch hot jocks beat things up.

Venti applauds politely. ]

Impressive! You really showed him.

[Is she really a jock though? She would probably frown at the comparison. She likes to be looked at as feminine, even if she can snap a person's neck with her bare hands.]

Fuck yeah I showed him. Fucking piece of shit bastard piss sucker!

[She turns towards the newcomer.]

Do you always just show up in the middle of people's fights?

Sometimes! I'm not much of a fighter myself, so I prefer to watch and learn.

[ Is he lying or is this an honest answer, hmmmmmm . . . ]

[ Smirking, she shrugs a shoulder.]

You shouldn't pick up shit from me. I'm a terrible influence. You okay? You're not hurt, right?

[ That bull is huge and looks like it's made of solid stone--and Kainé stops it with nothing more than brute strength. That's probably a good thing, because Nenonen is not at all equipped to assist at the moment. Magic practice is coming along, but Nen's pretty sure spraying water at solid rock won't do a whole lot. ]

Whoa...! Kainé?? That's amazing!

[ ...Nen should probably not be cheering her on from so close, but listen. Nen's never had to fight anything off before and it hasn't yet occurred they could be in harm's way. ]

[Upon hearing Nen's voice, Kainé looks over her shoulder]

Nen? What the hell are you doing here?

[The bull tries a pushback and Kainé does the opposite, driving it back; its hooves sliding across the pavement.]

Get the fuck out of here! Now! [She growls at the bull] I mean it!

[Kainé continues to push the bull back, taking a step at a time and forcing it backwards with her own strength.]

I've had enough of your shit, you goddamn shit-purse piss guzzler!

[Fuck not destroying the statues! These things are gonna hurt someone! She grits her teeth and kicks out, nailing the bull right in the chest. The blow is hard enough to send the statue a few inches airborne, where it slams into the side of a building and shatters into pieces.

She turns towards Nen, dismissing her weapons as she closes the distance between them.]

You okay?

Oh--

[ Yeah that...that is probably good advice considering that attempted pushback actually makes the ground beneath their feet rumble. Nen scrambles back to safety (the nearest storefront) and watches in awe as Kainé shatters it with a single punch (against a store on the opposite side of the street.

Nen's still gawking by the time Kainé turns around to address them, eyes wide. ]

I'm fine... But that was...That was so dunk! You threw it! Your musculoskeletal structure must be incredible!

[Kainé looks away, gripping her arm with a hand.]

Not worth the price...

[There's that disembodied laughter. Which brings Kainé out of her thoughts, her face scrunching up in annoyance.

Recovering, she raises an eyebrow at their strange way of speaking. Though she's not the most educated person given she grew up poor and not welcome in any of the settlements. So really, there was no one to teach her. Grandma tried her best though.]

Nen, what the fuck kind of bullshit are you spouting?

Your musculoskeletal structure?

[ It's not just Kainé, if that helps. Everyone has been baffled by Nen's general choice of words to date. It's what happens when you learn all of your social cues and sayings from a bunch of morally-ambiguous researchers who keep you locked up in a lab your whole life.

You get weird vocabulary and a whole slew of other issues ]

It means you are very strong. Stronger than the average human should be. You should have been crushed by all that strain, but you are fine!

[Man, if Kainé had any knowledge of the origins of their language and the details of their past, she'd be pissed! Possibly enough to find some sort of revenge on their behalf.

But that's not the here and now.

When they explain, she shifts a little uncomfortably, grip on her arm tightening slightly.]

That's because I'm not human.

Oh, really? Me neither. I had no idea you were not a human. What is your species called?

[ It might be a bit blunt and more than a little invasive, but that's Nen for you. If it helps at all they seem to perk up at Kainé's confession, giving her another obvious once-over as if that will somehow produce some minute detail they missed earlier. ]

"Awfully rude." Zevran commented with a chuckle. "I didn't even say anything yet."

I'm sorry for her! Lol

Kainé glances over at the newcomer, making a face in response to the Shade.

"Ignore that asshole... he shares my body but not my goddamn opinion." She spits. By now she's used to others being able to hear Tyrann, the Shade she shares a body with. It was rather jarring at first, as back in her own world, only she could communicate with him and hear the voices of other Shades, but something about the magic of this place changed that.

She crosses her arms under her ample bust, drawing attention to her odd attire choice (not many people wear literal lingerie as standard daywear) and turning her yellow eyes fully to the man.

"And who the hell are you?"
