BEACH PARTY

The sun is shining, a cool, crisp ocean breeze flutters across the shores of Solarpeak Beach. There's not a single cloud in the sky, the perfect day to have a party! Whether you heard about it through Yoimiya's network post, word of mouth or just happen to stumble onto the festivities, everyone is invited to Ellipsa's scorching hot Beach Bonfire Party! Grab your swimsuits, sun dresses, or whatever you feel the most comfortable in, and join in on the fun.

Gonna Soak Up the Sun

Through the combined efforts of Sisu, Yoimiya, and the many kind volunteers who lent their assistance in setting up the venue, the beach party is here and open to the public! Upon arrival, everyone will be given a choice of colorful, handmade hibiscus leis or bracelets to adorn for the party. They aren't mandatory in the slightest, just a cute little thank-you gift to those who are attending. After receiving a warm welcome from the hosts, you're free to set off and have fun! Meet up with friends or introduce yourself to new people from distant worlds, the party is your oyster. Of course, there will be plenty of other activities to partake in as well. Venture forth to the fun!

Feeling brave and daring? Sitting on top of the ocean is an inflatable balance beam built especially for water jousting. Foam joust poles and life jackets (if you wish to wear one!) will be given to would-be challengers looking to scratch the itch for a fight. The goal is to assert your dominance by knocking adversaries into the water and be the last person standing. Show off your strength and become the champion of the beach!

Perhaps you might be in the mood for a bit of fun in the sand. A large area of the beach is sectioned off for the grand Sandcastle Competition. Solarpeak residents from all across the city are bustling with excitement, flocking in to watch the artists do their magic, so go wild with your creations and give them a good show! Buildings, any kind of sculpture, or even just a basic castle are all accepted, let your imagination run free. You can even drag a buddy in for a helping hand if your work of art requires assistance. For the winner, the grand prize is a summer gift basket filled with goodies for a nice relaxing spa day at home. Tucked away inside the basket are gift cards to various restaurants in Ellipsa. Don't fret if you aren't interested in participating! Anyone is welcome to walk around and marvel at the competitor's creations.

A Feast for All

The hosts are bound and determined to ensure that no one leaves this beach hungry. If you're craving a cold tasty treat to stave off the heat, a bustling shaved ice stall is here to cool down roasting attendees. An endless variety of flavors are available for mixing and matching, waiting to quench your thirst. If you are feeling adventurous, there are a few questionable flavors on the menu such as Bacon, Durian, Jalapeño, Ketchup, Mushroom, Pickle juice and Seaweed. Try them at your risk or if your palette is "hungry" for something more on the "unique" side.

For those who made inquiries about alcohol, special arrangements have been made! A small pop-up bar has been set up for today's joyous occasion. The bar's pride and joy is a variety of summer-themed cocktails but you can also find other basic liquor or non-alcoholic drinks if your tastebuds are craving simplicity. To go alongside the refreshing beverages, food is also provided at this small establishment. Some of the dishes on the menu are: kebabs with a hint of rum, peach bruschetta, spring rolls, fish and chips, crab hush puppies, and a spicy jalapeño popper dip (you can also ask for the ghost pepper version of this dip if you are feeling brave). All the hosts ask is that visitors to the bar be mindful of the people who can't or aren't interested in drinking.

Decorated across the shores of the beach are tables, picnic blankets, and sizzling hot grills for the designated picnic area. In a similar fashion to the potluck that took place a while back, several tables have been set up for those who like to go crazy in the kitchen or wish to advertise their food business by bringing samples to share.

Time flies when so much fun is taking place! As the last light of day begins to fade, the stars come out to brighten up the night sky on this clear summer day. However, just because there's no more sunlight, doesn't mean the party is over. Far from it! There's still lots of excitement to be had for the attendees who wish to stick around for the night festivities.

A Midsummer Night's Glow

On the middle of the beach, a blazing bonfire burns ever so brightly inside a log fire pit. Eat snacks, catch up with friends, meet new people, or get cozy with others should one be feeling touch starved. In need of an icebreaker? A game of truth or dare or telling scary stories makes for a good way to pass the time. Maybe you'll have a fateful encounter and land yourself a date before the night is over.

With a sky full of beautiful stars, a bustling bonfire, and a large open space, the atmosphere is perfect for dancing. The DJ for the evening is the bright and energetic Aimoto Rinku, here to bust out an array of sick beats with her turntable. There's plenty of fun to be had in a group conga line or grab a partner for a slow, romantic bolero, and dance to whatever music piques your interest. A small makeshift stage is also set up for those who wish to sing, Rinku will be more than happy to work with any potential performers. From upbeat EDM to ballads, all types of genres fill the air with music. Let loose, enjoy the melody, and dance the night away!

Festive Mementos

For one of the hosts, summer just isn't the same without fireworks exploding across the sky. To end the evening with a bang, a beautiful barrage of fireworks paints the night sky in various colors and patterns. As a final gift to the attendees, Yoimiya has prepared sparklers for everyone to play with. There are a variety of colors to choose from, pink, red, blue, green, orange, purple, yellow, etc. No matter what color catches your fancy, with a little flick of the wand, all of them appear like twinkling stars sparkling and flickering across the stick.

To end off the light show, fireworks representing each of the seasons burst into the sky. Blue snowflakes for Winter, pink cherry blossoms for spring, a yellow sun for Summer, and red maple leaves for Autumn. After the vibrant display, a final golden ray of light flickers and explodes into a bright, heartwarming message for all of the guests. "Thank you for attending! You are all amazing! Let's have a great time in Ellipsa!"

[ Hange holds up something that absolutely looks deadly and he won't make it in time before it moves its giant pincers and he doesn't have anything that he can use as a weapon-- ]

[ Which he then promptly yeets at the lobster with scary accuracy and enough force to (hopefully) knock the thing out of Hange's hand and a few feet away before a disaster happens. Now who's overreacting? ]

[ (Good thing that the phones are waterproof per word of god, but probably don't let it soak too long just in case...) ]

[Hange was getting ready to explain that they wanted assistance in taking more pictures of whatever interesting sea life they find, and if Levi were willing to help out they'd even do all the leg work and come back to him!]

[But alas, things rarely go as planned. Hange has barely any time to register that they are seeing Levi throwing something before a sharp jolt practically rips the wriggling menace from their hands, sending both the water scorpion and the phone splashing into the waves in different directions. If it were happening to someone else, they'd be impressed at that speed and accuracy! Unfortunately though, it cost them their prize catch!]

Wh-what was that for?! What if you broke it?!

[Are they talking about the phone or the animal? Yes.]

[Time to make a quick decision! Ultimately it is the phone that must be saved first, so Hange begins searching in the area it landed. Thankfully they find it fairly quickly! Now to find the water scorpion again!]

[ Oh yeah? Two can play this game. ]

What if it bites you? What if it's poisonous?!

[ Screw that. He's hopping over the dryest looking rocks to close the distance between them and grip the back of Hange's shirt just in time to physically pull them back from whichever rockpool the water scorpion has landed in. ]

[ Don't make him carry you back to the shore, Hange!! ]

If it had a dangerous bite, it wouldn't need such huge pincers!

[not answering the part about being poisonous because haha it probably it is, but that's why we avoid the stinger!]

[Levi manages to catch hold of their shirt before they are able to make a run for it, but no! They aren't giving this up! Hange is doing their best to wriggle free from his grip..]

It's going to be fine! I just want to see it again! [And pick it up and take pictures and put it in the bucket and take more pictures and-]

[ Semantics now? Fine. Fine. ]

Right. Do you want to get pinced?

[ Haha, no. No way. Not letting go. (Hopefully the shirt holds...) ]

Slow down or I'm taking you home.

[ What kind of a switch babysitter arrangement is this... ]

[Hange does not in fact want to get pinced, but they do want to find it again! Enough so that they are genuinely trying to struggle out of Levi's grip still, going so far as to grab hold of his wrist in an attempt to pull it away, not even caring if the shirt does get ripped a little as they throw their weight into moving forward.]

You can't make me go home. C'mon, Levi!

[ Yeah he's calling bullshit on that first one. Also it's cute how they think him taking them home includes making them go there themselves and not simply manhandling them all the way like a very long sack of potatoes. ]

Maybe not with your own two legs--

[ He tries to pull them back again, but unfortunately, the circumstances are being stacked against him at the moment -- the rock he's standing on is uneven and slippery, his left leg is still weaker, and then Hange pulls him by the wrist in a direction that has exactly zero foothold available. ]

[ There's definitely some horror in Levi's eye as he tips over dangerously and realizes he's about to faceplant into disgusting water instead of making any headway of actually picking Hange up. ]

[ True to the Scouts, though, he refuses to give up. Rather than let himself fall into the sea, he pushes off the rock at the last moment, turning the slip into a jump, which allows him to wrap an arm around Hange's shoulders, and, after few moments of ~~climbing them like a tree~~ indignant scrambling, settle safely away from the water on their back with all of his limbs wrapped around them like a particularly sour baby koala. ]

...Oi. Don't you dare drop me.

[ He's not in any actual danger, of course, since the water is shallow, reaching up maybe around Hange's knees, but he's been doing an excellent job not getting soaked in fish piss so far and he doesn't plan to change that now. ]

[It all happens so fast. For a moment there, Hange believes they have been able to break free and are about to make a run for it, but suddenly Levi is climbing up their back (what the fuck??) and they almost topple over from the unexpected shift in their center of gravity. Thankfully though Hange manages to keep their footing in the sand, complete with one Levi-shaped symbiote.]

[Unfortunately with their back turned, Hange missed the whole reasoning as to why Levi ended up on them in the first place, soooo...]

Huh...? You think I won't want to stay here if I have to carry you around?

[Think again!! And just like that, Hange's hands are hooking under Levi's knees for extra support as they begin to wade through the water some more...]

[ Of fucking course they missed it. Levi's half tempted to shove a thumb up their nose or something, but 1) gross and 2) he doesn't want to risk them losing balance from something like that. So instead he just grips one of their ears and pulls on it to express his disagreement. That's not it!! ]

You almost pulled me into the lake, shitty four-eyes.

[ Tug, tug. ]

[ He really expects them to turn around and return to the shore, at least to discard him if anything, but instead they're?? headed further into the lake??? ]

[ He lets go of their ear in order to hang onto them more securily, and maybe scooches further up their back a little bit, like the world's angriest backpack, or like a cat trying to avoid the bathtub, because what the fuck. This is terrible. Go back! Abort!! ]

...What are you doing?

You pulled me first! Why doesn't it matter what- ah! That hurts, quit it!

[It's your own fault! And you certainly aren't gaining any sympathy with the ear tugging!]

[Hange takes only a few steps forward, but it's enough to have Levi scrambling up further, and it really is rather awkward to carry him around like this and their arms are now occupied with holding on to limbs rather than creature-hunting, but at the same time it's also annoying him immensely and he deserves to be a little annoyed after throwing things at the water scorpion, so everything is in it's right place?]

I'm looking for my water scorpion.

[But don't worry Levi, because Hange understands now that you are simply uysing them as a climbing frame because you didn't want to fall into the sandy, dirty, creature-infested waters.]

...But I'll put you back on dry land first if you say please!

[ They could honestly use their arms for creature-hunting, since Levi is holding onto them pretty securely. Might even cross his legs in the front and everything. Really, the only unavoidable discomfort is the extra weight, but they're both trained for that not to be a big issue. ]

Give up. It's probably crawled back into whatever hellhole you pulled it from.

[ Also he doesn't want that thing anywhere near him, thanks -- ]

[Never mind the fact that they're the reason he was over here in the first place! But it's fine, Hange sounds rather chipper as the continue digging their toes into the sands to hunt out anything hiding down there. Levi's response was to be expected after all, its funny more than anything else!]

Oh- look at this one!

[Suddenly, Hange is bending forward to pick something up. Better have a good grip if you don't want to end up in the water! Luckily it only lasts a few seconds before they are standing up straight once again.]

Huh.. it's got to be heavy, carrying around a shell of that size, right? Though I suppose it isn't quite so much trouble when in the water.. Don't you think it looks cute?

[Hange holds up both their hands close to Levi's head so that he can see the creature they hold- an adorable little hermit crab with a sea shell home five times its size.]

[ He huffs and clings tighter as Hange bends over, careful not to get his boots into the yucky water. ]

Seriously?

[ Aaaaand there they go. He leans as far away from it as he can without compromising his position, probably throttling Hange a little in the process as at least one of his arms is definitely positioned at the front of their throat. ]

...Keep that thing away from me.

[ It's not adorable! It's weird! It looks like it's wearing a shell too big for it! Which... is honestly not unrelatable, when Levi thinks about that time he accidentally grabbed Miche's cloak in the barracks wardrobe. Fucking hell. ]

[ At least it... doesn't look poisonous, though. Silver linings! ]

[w o w this is the thanks they get?? Trying to involve him and show off all the wonders that this beach has to offer? Talk about spoil sport. With an exasperated sigh Hange drops the crab back into the water and grabs hold of Levi's legs once again (for support, they would say if asked, but it totally is to rub sand on his trousers and be annoying) as they turn to head for the beach proper.]

Then why don't you stay over here, is that far enough away for you?

[ Hopefully they don't think they're being sneaky with their VERY OBVIOUSLY WET HANDS that had just fished out the shell creature out of the water, because Levi totally feels it soaking through. He sort of shakes his good knee a bit, as if trying to throw Hange's hand off; the other one unfortunately lacks that sort of dexterity at the moment. ]

Oi. Your hands are wet.

[ Thank you, Captain Obvious! ]

It'll dry in the sun.

[You get what you deserve for yeeting that poor water scorpion into the watery abyss! Do you have any idea how excited Hange was to find it? The knee shaking does nothing and continues to be gripped tightly until they are back on the beach, after which Hange lets go, allowing Levi to slide down onto (semi) solid ground.]

You'll be fine here, right?

[Because if so, it's water scorpion time!]

[ Of course the smartass is being a smartass. Levi fights the urge to throw them into the sea after the water scorpion, but two things stop him; one, he's trying to prevent them from foolishly coming into harm's way, and two, he still needs them as a mount to reach the shore. ]

[ Finally they're back on the beach, and he grumpily unwraps himself from Hange, landing on his feet without much issue. He does scowl at them as soon as he does so, however. ]

I was fine the whole time.

[ SORT OF!! ]

[ --and damn, they're already wading back into the sea. ]

Stay away from weird things. Oi.

[ He follows them until he's at the minimum safe distance from the water and continues glowering in their general direction. ]

Hange. We agreed--

[ If there was any sort of such agreement it was probably extremely onesided... ]

[Hange at least turns to flash him a smile and a happy little wave before they go wading off into the waters once more. Everything will (probably) be fine!! If there were something actually life-threatening in here, surely such a thing would be public knowledge by now?]

[And so for a while it continues, Hange picking up random shells and crustaceans, trying to take photos as things crawl over their hands, until at one point a decided 'yelp' can be heard as the former commander can be spotting hopping out of the waters at top speed.]

It burns! It burns!! I never would have guessed that was it's purpose!

Levi!! Leeee-viiiii!!!I got stung by something that looks like those ramen noodles!! Look!

It feels like a dozen bee-stings, all at once! Have you ever heard of such a thing?? Wait- I have to catch one! Give me that bucket--!

[ He looks away for ten fucking minutes -- ]

[ Levi's leaping next to Hange before they're even finished screaming. If they're out of the water, his staying dry mission continues to be a success, but if not, he'll just barrell right into the lake because it's suddenly not a priority anymore. ]

[ He's also slapping Hange across the back of head as soon as he's there. ]

What the hell did I tell you!! Show me!

[ They'll have the choice of sitting down on a rock or using Levi for support as he leans down to carefully grip their ankle for steadiness as he inspects the mark. It looks like a red scribble of some sort, portions of it already welting up. Shit. Okay, maybe it doesn't look worse than a dozen bee stings, but those could actually kill some people, and this thing could be much more poisonous, and he's not fucking losing them again to something this fucking stupid -- ]

[ What kind of creature was it exactly? He imagines the local doctors would be familiar with it, but maybe it would be good to bring one along just in case -- ]

We're going to the medical center. What exactly did this thing look like? ...Did you take a picture?

[ He's glancing over to inspect the water patch that Hange had just jumped out of, looking for anything resembling... noodles, but he's still holding onto them. ]

[Hange rests an arm on Levi's shoulder for support, lifting the afflicted leg up from the ground so that he can take a better look at it. Thankfully it doesnt seem as though the injury is rapidly worsening, but the skin is definitely inflamed and the reddened outlines of tentacles are becoming more and more visible.]

I didn't.. I didn't notice it until I felt something on my leg.

[Placing the foot back on the ground, Hange turns to the waters where they had been standing. After a quick scan, something small can be seen coasting along on top of the waves.]

That's it, right there! You see? It's a pale white, you can barely see it against the water. Look-- [And they're already hopping back over to the water's edge--]

[ N o p e . ]

[ Levi's quickly grabbing them to stop them from wading into the water again, and maybe sitting them down on a rock while he's at it. He'll force it if necessary, but he's pretty gentle otherwise. ]

You stay put. Keep that leg elevated and don't move. [ Surely snake bite precautions apply here, right? ]

[ And, sure enough, he's grabbing that bucket -- hopefully it's empty by now, otherwise crab-chan is going to have a roommate -- pausing by the waterline to brace himself and swear heartily, and then hopping in, shoes and everything. It probably looks a bit funny since he's moving kind of like a stork in a puddle, as if it somehow will get less water on him. ]

[ He catches up with the floating jelly before it makes it much further, still in shallow waters luckily, and ladles it up with the bucket, careful not to touch it. There's some ramen-like tentacles hanging over the edge at first but they slide into the bucket a moment later. ]

[ And then he's wading back to shore as fast as he can, holding the bucket as far away from himself as possible. ]

[This may be one of those rare times where Hange follows his instructions perfectly, because treating this as you would a bite or sting from some other animal is the best course of action even though nothing else really feels off other than the leg and its noodley welts.]

[It really is a role reversal because now Hange sits on top of a rock, honestly a little mystified at what they're seeing as Levi wades around with the bucket in an attempt to catch it, because they're pretty sure when asking him to join in earlier he said he wouldn't be caught dead in the waters.]

Oh, you caught it! Careful-- the poison noodles are quite long! [Please don't get stung too this really hurts!]

Should we ask one of the other beach-goers if they know what it is?

[ He just makes a grunt of affirmation -- yeah, I can see that -- and pours some water off carefully, so that the creatures don't die but have to stay low in the bucket, so that hopefully neither of them comes in contact with it again. ]

You can ask the doctor.

[ There's no more time to waste!! ]

[ Which... how do they even get to the hospital again? There's air buses, but it'll take a while to get to one and then the trip itself might take a while too. He thinks he remembers seeing a teleportation station near where they entered the district, and those things usually had a speed dial for the hospital, police station and such, but it would take a while to reach it from here too. If only there was some way they could get to it faster -- ]

[ Hm. ]

[ He will offer Hange the piggyback option, but if they seem at all reluctant about it, he'll just heave them over one shoulder like a sack of potatoes, take the bucket into his opposite hand, and then stroll toward wherever he remembers seeing Eren last. ]

[ As soon as he spots him, doing whatever he's up to this time, Levi raises his voice a little to get his attention. ]

Eren. I need to borrow you for a minute.

[ He may look calm, but on the inside, he's totally panicking! ]

[ Eren isn't busy, mostly hanging out with a drink (not booze!), considering if he wants to risk some other weird food. Probably. He likes trying food, after all, though the ghost pepper stuff was a lot…

Then Levi comes up carrying Hange and he forgets about food. Levi looks pretty much the same as always, but if he's asking for help (in not so many words), it's probably something to be concerned about. ]
