BEACH PARTY

The sun is shining, a cool, crisp ocean breeze flutters across the shores of Solarpeak Beach. There's not a single cloud in the sky, the perfect day to have a party! Whether you heard about it through Yoimiya's network post, word of mouth or just happen to stumble onto the festivities, everyone is invited to Ellipsa's scorching hot Beach Bonfire Party! Grab your swimsuits, sun dresses, or whatever you feel the most comfortable in, and join in on the fun.

Gonna Soak Up the Sun

Through the combined efforts of Sisu, Yoimiya, and the many kind volunteers who lent their assistance in setting up the venue, the beach party is here and open to the public! Upon arrival, everyone will be given a choice of colorful, handmade hibiscus leis or bracelets to adorn for the party. They aren't mandatory in the slightest, just a cute little thank-you gift to those who are attending. After receiving a warm welcome from the hosts, you're free to set off and have fun! Meet up with friends or introduce yourself to new people from distant worlds, the party is your oyster. Of course, there will be plenty of other activities to partake in as well. Venture forth to the fun!

Feeling brave and daring? Sitting on top of the ocean is an inflatable balance beam built especially for water jousting. Foam joust poles and life jackets (if you wish to wear one!) will be given to would-be challengers looking to scratch the itch for a fight. The goal is to assert your dominance by knocking adversaries into the water and be the last person standing. Show off your strength and become the champion of the beach!

Perhaps you might be in the mood for a bit of fun in the sand. A large area of the beach is sectioned off for the grand Sandcastle Competition. Solarpeak residents from all across the city are bustling with excitement, flocking in to watch the artists do their magic, so go wild with your creations and give them a good show! Buildings, any kind of sculpture, or even just a basic castle are all accepted, let your imagination run free. You can even drag a buddy in for a helping hand if your work of art requires assistance. For the winner, the grand prize is a summer gift basket filled with goodies for a nice relaxing spa day at home. Tucked away inside the basket are gift cards to various restaurants in Ellipsa. Don't fret if you aren't interested in participating! Anyone is welcome to walk around and marvel at the competitor's creations.

A Feast for All

The hosts are bound and determined to ensure that no one leaves this beach hungry. If you're craving a cold tasty treat to stave off the heat, a bustling shaved ice stall is here to cool down roasting attendees. An endless variety of flavors are available for mixing and matching, waiting to quench your thirst. If you are feeling adventurous, there are a few questionable flavors on the menu such as Bacon, Durian, Jalapeño, Ketchup, Mushroom, Pickle juice and Seaweed. Try them at your risk or if your palette is "hungry" for something more on the "unique" side.

For those who made inquiries about alcohol, special arrangements have been made! A small pop-up bar has been set up for today's joyous occasion. The bar's pride and joy is a variety of summer-themed cocktails but you can also find other basic liquor or non-alcoholic drinks if your tastebuds are craving simplicity. To go alongside the refreshing beverages, food is also provided at this small establishment. Some of the dishes on the menu are: kebabs with a hint of rum, peach bruschetta, spring rolls, fish and chips, crab hush puppies, and a spicy jalapeño popper dip (you can also ask for the ghost pepper version of this dip if you are feeling brave). All the hosts ask is that visitors to the bar be mindful of the people who can't or aren't interested in drinking.

Decorated across the shores of the beach are tables, picnic blankets, and sizzling hot grills for the designated picnic area. In a similar fashion to the potluck that took place a while back, several tables have been set up for those who like to go crazy in the kitchen or wish to advertise their food business by bringing samples to share.

Time flies when so much fun is taking place! As the last light of day begins to fade, the stars come out to brighten up the night sky on this clear summer day. However, just because there's no more sunlight, doesn't mean the party is over. Far from it! There's still lots of excitement to be had for the attendees who wish to stick around for the night festivities.

A Midsummer Night's Glow

On the middle of the beach, a blazing bonfire burns ever so brightly inside a log fire pit. Eat snacks, catch up with friends, meet new people, or get cozy with others should one be feeling touch starved. In need of an icebreaker? A game of truth or dare or telling scary stories makes for a good way to pass the time. Maybe you'll have a fateful encounter and land yourself a date before the night is over.

With a sky full of beautiful stars, a bustling bonfire, and a large open space, the atmosphere is perfect for dancing. The DJ for the evening is the bright and energetic Aimoto Rinku, here to bust out an array of sick beats with her turntable. There's plenty of fun to be had in a group conga line or grab a partner for a slow, romantic bolero, and dance to whatever music piques your interest. A small makeshift stage is also set up for those who wish to sing, Rinku will be more than happy to work with any potential performers. From upbeat EDM to ballads, all types of genres fill the air with music. Let loose, enjoy the melody, and dance the night away!

Festive Mementos

For one of the hosts, summer just isn't the same without fireworks exploding across the sky. To end the evening with a bang, a beautiful barrage of fireworks paints the night sky in various colors and patterns. As a final gift to the attendees, Yoimiya has prepared sparklers for everyone to play with. There are a variety of colors to choose from, pink, red, blue, green, orange, purple, yellow, etc. No matter what color catches your fancy, with a little flick of the wand, all of them appear like twinkling stars sparkling and flickering across the stick.

To end off the light show, fireworks representing each of the seasons burst into the sky. Blue snowflakes for Winter, pink cherry blossoms for spring, a yellow sun for Summer, and red maple leaves for Autumn. After the vibrant display, a final golden ray of light flickers and explodes into a bright, heartwarming message for all of the guests. "Thank you for attending! You are all amazing! Let's have a great time in Ellipsa!"

{ he really is more courageous (is it courage? or stupidity-) when drunk, isn't he? at least by this time mochi has settled on a blanket on the sand, curled up in a ball. he doesn't have to worry about her running off.

and they've exchanged hugs in private before, so it isn't a new feeling, though this time he is incredibly aware that there are people around them now. }

Oh, I could never do that to a dear friend. { he gives him a small pat on the back, trying to be reassuring. unfortunately, it is very tempting to do otherwise. especially after truth or dare came up very empty earlier. }

Do you feel ready to head home, or would you like another?

[There's an awfully satisfied grin on his face. He lets go of Ayato, only to stumble a little backwards, then grab onto his friend's arm instead as he moves closer again. His entire world is spinning, but somehow it doesn't make him concerned at all.]

Right, exactly. You can tease me a lot, but you'd never do anything awful. You're a kind person.

[He nods to himself a few times, as if agreeing to his own words. Then he gives Ayato a slightly disappointed look.]

I'm having fun here, I don't want to go home. Have a drink with me! Or let's dance!

[Needless to say, he's in no state to do the letter and he should not be drinking more either.]

{ he's thankful aether is likely too drunk to notice the way his hand grips a little tighter to steady him, but more importantly, that his gaze turns away at the comment.

he doesn't agree, of course not, but bringing it up now would only likely bring suspicion on him or turn things to a disagreement that may sour the mood. }

Of course, we can get you another drink. Though I'm not certain about dancing, unless you're offering to give me a show?

Show?

[He looks up, puzzled.]

No, obviously you need to dance with me! I'm not dancing alone.

[He's grabbing for Ayato's other hand.]

It'll be fun!

Then you won't be dancing at all.

{ his eyes shift to the people around them, because honestly he has reservations about public speaking, nevermind public dancing. he won't stop aether from grabbing his hand, but he won't budge an inch no matter how hard the other pulls. }

[startraveler]

[Aether's reaction is to pout a little, clearly unhappy that Ayato doesn't want to dance, but then his companion looks around. For a moment the traveler doesn't understand what is happening, but soon he connects the dots.

His face now shows deep concern.]

You don't like being here? If you don't want to be here, we can go home.

[...He didn't connect anything. He got a completely wrong conclusion!]

{ well that was certainly a jump to the wrong conclusion. }

That isn't what I said.

{ since both their hands are clasped, he'll squeeze both of aethers. }

Nor what I meant. { his eyes slide away again. } I do not wish to dance in public.

[startraveler]

[Oh.

Aether's gaze follows to the people around them, before he gives an exaggerated nod.]

But dancing at home would be fine?

[He's not sure why this is so important to him. He's in no condition to dance wheresoever!!]

It would. { he'll squeeze his hands again, not sure whether aether will remember that for later or not. } So would you like another drink, or something else?

[startraveler]

[It's likely that he won't remember anything. He looks up at Ayato as if pondering something, then he looks down at their joined hands and his head leans forward, touching his friend just a little.]

Let's go home.

[Maybe he really wants that dance. Maybe he wants to go somewhere where Ayato would be more comfortable.

...And maybe he'll forget everything once he's home, too tired and dizzied.]

Oh? You were so eager to keep partying moments before... what changed?

{ he doesn't move as aether leans on him, his hands squeeze back, trying to encourage him to talk. }

[startraveler]

I just want to be somewhere where you would feel comfortable.

[His voice sounds quieter, his eyes close. The world is spinning a little less now when he's not looking at it and when he can support himself against Ayato.]

[acquirement]

Do you think I'm uncomfortable here?

{ his keeps his voice lower to match aether's. he just stands still though, not shifting his stance as aether leans on him, their hands still held between them. he's a lot more used to it now, at least, how this world seems to add extra warmth to the contact shared between people. }

[startraveler]

[As Aether turns his head up, he looks confused.]

...You didn't want to dance.

[His mind is going in circles.]

{ ah, because of that? he chuckles faintly. }

Have you forgotten my distaste for drawing attention to myself in public?

[startraveler]

[He blinks a few times, then takes a look around them. Though, at some point he leans against Ayato again. The swaying is getting worse.]

You wouldn't stand out here...

[His complain is growing weaker and eventually, there's a deep frown on his face.]

Just stay with me... Everything is spinning so much...

Of course I would, or have you forgotten I've taken quite a well known position here too?

{ he lets go of his hands to grasp aether's shoulders instead. }

But we should get you some water to help. Do you think you can still walk?

[startraveler]

[He lets a small noise of protest, noticing that his arguments are getting weaker and weaker. But that's not the biggest problem now.]

It's fine, I... I can walk.

[He steps away, but even that seems like a struggle now. He trips over his own legs, falling forward.]

[acquirement]

If you're--

{ he cuts himself off half way through saying it, eyes going wide as aether stumbles over himself and almost falls flat on his face. luckily he's fast, even with inappropriate footwear for this, to catch him before he hits the floor. }

--apparently not. Very well, being carried it is.

{ he doesn't wait for any protest that may come before he's sweeping him up in both arms, and heading towards the blanket he'd left mochi on earlier. all he needs is a cup, after all, he can provide the water himself. }

[startraveler]

[He lets a startled noise when he's picked up and surprise is painted all over his face when he looks at Ayato. But no protests come. Instead, Aether sighs to himself, eyes closing. His entire form relaxes and he leans into the other.

He doesn't have any energy to pretend that he's fine. He's too drunk for it, too. Instead, he allows the warmth of his friend to soothe him, even if only for the moment.

Ayato can carry him wherever he wishes to. Aether remains silently resting in his arms.]

[acquirement]

{ a small chuckle follows the look on aether's face, taking delight in how caught of guard he was by it.

he doesn't take him far, anyway, lowering him to the blanket and propping him up in front of himself so he can get him water. he has no idea what was used in the cup before, and he shouldn't really be using his vision for this, but he'll add water first to rinse it out, then top it up with the liquid after so he can raise it to aether's lips. }

Drink. You'll feel better if we get more water in you.

[startraveler]

[It's a bit surprising that he didn't actually pass out. Exhaustion is starting to set in, but he opens his eyes the moment he's settled down on the blanket. His vision sways making him let a small whine. Drinking so much was a mistake, he is likely going to have a huge headache tomorrow and he'll regret this for the rest of his life.

But that's going to be something for his future self to worry about. For now he just wants to go to sleep.

He blinks when a cup is raised to his lips and he gives Ayato a grateful, even if a little pained look. Then he reaches out to take the cup, his hand shaking slightly as he drinks the water.]

[acquirement]

{ one arm will keep aether propped up against himself, the other hovers under the cup to make sure he doesn't drop it over himself at any point. }

You should rest after this, we should probably get you something to eat as well. {
he sighs. } Did you eat much before you started drinking?

[startraveler]

[Once he's done drinking the water, his hands drop uselessly by his sides and he leans a little more against Ayato.

It takes him a moment to actually process the question.]

Nn... No? I don't think so.

[He's barely keeping himself awake at this point.]

Sleep...

[acquirement]

{ he frowns and lightly pats his cheek. }

Not yet, we need to get you something to eat first. If you've barely eaten, no wonder you're a mess.

{ and he is a mess, with the way he has to catch the cup and set it aside, taking his weight so he doesn't just flop over. }
