General Training
(Dayrise Colosseum)
[Occasionally during June, Jean can be found from the Dayrise colosseum. Mostly he's training general hand to hand combat skills (including testing a few different martial arts he's read on) or his fire magic. Unlike his previous anger filled training, he's rather calm this time and taking his time to take breaks in between training.
He also has his sword with him to practice swings with that whenever he hits a figurative wall in his normal training.]
Staring at horizons
[Jean is definitely not going to go the Segments on his own, but he does occasionally wander to the beginning of the Sunwaning bridge to look at the Segments from there. The Autumn and Summer Segments are both beautiful and it feels peaceful to just watch them from afar.
It's also a good place for him to just be on his own and think about things by himself. About death and about what he needs to do now. But he makes no move towards the Segments the whole time he's there and instead turning to go back to the city.]

Jean seems amused.]
Sounds like a fun game to pass time, at least. Say... how heavy objects are you able to lift? Have you met a limit?
no subject
Stop treating it like just a game!! It's incredibly versatile, believe me!
[He lets the two ball circle around him at a leisurely pace.]
I lifted a whole bunch of stone animals back during the stampede and held them up for a minute or so, and I'm not going to lie, that took me out. I could barely stay conscious.
[Granted, his mana reserves were a good bit smaller back then... but honestly, he probably only managed to pull off the stunt because he wanted to impress Venti
and the Shounen Jump logic kicked in.]no subject
Have you been able to lift another person before?
no subject
I haven't tried, but given how much heavier the statues were it should be possible. Let's see...
[Okay, Jean, you're getting floated up into the air! Hijikata isn't going to raise him dangerously high, just a metre or so, but it's got to feel weird regardless.]
Well, it works.
no subject
Gah! I swear, if you just drop me, I'll punch you.
no subject
[He really does set him down carefully. Levitating a person is a lot more difficult than doing it to an object, mostly because they move around and change their centre of gravity that way, but he can tell that he has far more mana reserves than he used to, which will make it a lot easier to not drain himself on a task like this.
(He tries not to think about how he might have been able to save Jean's life at the Wolf's Blood Mountain after all, if only he had been clear-headed enough... but it's true that he likely wouldn't have survived his injuries.)]
no subject
A memory of the night does briefly pass him, but it doesn't stick. It doesn't even occur to him a skill like that could have been used to save him.]
I'll try again, then. Less power into it...
[This time the ball does take off flying, but up in the air. Straight up.]
Ah... still too much.
no subject
He looks after the ball as it shoot upwards.]
Wow. You may just take down a bird with this one.
[It comes back down on its own, though, and Hijikata slows its speedy descent until it stops at eye level.]
Isn't this neat? Imagine if that had been a vase falling from a windowsill, or someone's pet dog falling from an airship!
[Sure, those situations aren't exactly common, but it's always good to be prepared!]
no subject
Jean deadpans him.]
You imagination on the second example is weird-- but I do agree that it's convenient in different situation, once you get the hand of it.

[His attention is drawn to the two pokémon, who are apparently playfighting and using some basic elemental attacks.]
Look at that. The little guys are training their powers, too!
[His tepig snorts flames from its nose, but Jean's totodile extinguishes them by spewing water from its maws. The little pig squeals in frustration, but only for a moment before tackling its new friend and rolling around together.]
no subject
This is the first time he's wrestling with anyone. It's kind of cute.
no subject
[Probably something really badass... it's a little crocodile, after all!]
no subject
[He looks a bit amused.]
Apparently Feraligatr is a little taller than me, so... that will be interesting.
no subject
[He does sound a little disappointed, but he'll love his fire pig friend all the same.]
He won't change into something totally different either; he'll stay a pig... but he'll walk on two legs like a person from his first evolution onwards.
no subject
[Totodile seems to get tired of the wrestling a little, running around and shooting water instead.]
no subject
[Both his tepig and Shoto's litten have quite the stringent program with their determined owners (though said owners have resigned themselves to letting the little critters sleep in when they start their early mornings, at least).]
Let's take a water break and then practice some more! Let's get you to the point where you can block my ball's attack with yours at the end of the day!
no subject
[Since they could all probably use a refresh before continuing on to learning the basics of telekinesis - and for Pokémon to continue the joys of playing.]
no subject
[The little pig really gets very excited when it sees that Jean has berries to share! It snorts flames all over them before digging in.]
He does that with pretty much anything I give him. He likes his food warm and a bit crispy, I guess.
no subject
[Meanwhile Totodile just chomps the berries down like they are. Omnomnom.]
Guess that goes with being a fire Pokémon.
no subject
[They can sit and eat as well while watching their pokémon (and the tepig may just roast their food for them, too - Hijikata will try to prompt it into that, at least!)]
