This is the most efficient way to transport you. If I were to carry you in my arms, your body would be too long and you'd hit your head on every passing wall.

...how considerate of you. [ the sarcasm is just dri_pping from each of his words. ] I don't like being carried like this, you know.

[ He has about two seconds to decide because they're already in the hallway. ]

[ kaveh can't bring himself to say 'like a princess', so he just mumbles a 'nevermind'. ]

[ Maybe next time, Kaveh. For now, he's being set down surprisingly gently onto his bed. And by surprisingly gently, I mean he's not outright tossed down onto his bed. ]

...thanks. [ mumbled out, because as soon as alhaitham sets him down he grabs a pillow and drags it over, burying his face into it. ] I'll be out there in a few minutes. I just need to... lay down for a bit.

Get as much rest as you need. I'll take care of dinner.

[ He wasn't kidding when he said he was feeling energized, so he was well ready to take care of things. It'd also give him some time to think Certain Things over. ]

[ kaveh nods, taking about an hour to himself. he returns to the kitchen, looking for alhaitham. ] What did you end up making for dinner?

Sabz Meat Stew.

[ Of course, Alhaitham has taken to reading a book while he finishes the final steps of the dish. ]

[ Also of course, the food being served doesn't resemble Sabz Meat Stew at all, but Alhaitham's unique version instead. At least he didn't carve any words into the dish though. ]

I used a local variety of spices in place of Snapdragon, but I believe the flavor should be quite similar.

[ kaveh hums, acknowledging the change as he takes a seat the table. he’s not the least bit surprised that alhaitham’s sabz meat stew isn’t the traditional version, but instead something that’s uniquely him. ]

It smells great. [ he sets and elbow on the table, resting his cheek against his hand as he watches him read. ] Have you finished reading about all the different segments?

The basics, at least.

[ Setting each dish one by one on the table, he glances at Kaveh, or more specifically examines his condition now that he's had some rest. ]

Have you been to Amberfall district yet?

[ he's fine. he's been fine. ] No, not yet. I spent a lot of time in the main city and then I even visited the Winter Segment. Do you need to go there?

[rudementary]

[ Is he, after everything. ]

For a visit at least. It's where I was considering buying a house.

Is there a reason you're choosing Amberfall?

[rudementary]

It appears to have a stable, temperate climate alongside being a popular district for literature and art.

The library is located there, alongside one of the guilds. So while it may have the potential to have a lot of foot traffic, I imagine the majority of natives would enforce a quieter daily life so as not to disrupt those indulged in either consuming or creating literature or art.

I thought there was something there for both you and I to enjoy.

[ he’s surprised alhaitham considered what he may want at all, but even if he doesn’t say it he’s touched. ]

Did you want to go looking at properties this afternoon then? If we find something we like perhaps we can reserve it somehow. Between the two of us it shouldn’t take too long to have enough money to put a down payment.

[ In a way, it'll be round two of Alhaitham's house in Sumeru, the result of choices and designs made between both himself and Kaveh, rather than being to only his own tastes. ]

[ Strange how it's more comfortable that way. ]

[ Once he's seated his book comes out again, though he doesn't completely regard Kaveh's presence immediately. ]

That sounds good. We can double check the district itself as well to ensure suitability.

...mm, that sounds good. We could even start looking into some more furniture and decorations. Not that we have to get them now, but it couldn't hurt to plan out what we're interested in, so we can set aside just a little bit more money.

Be aware of our current incomes, Kaveh. I would prefer not to go into debt immediately, or at all.

[ kaveh hums, taking the first bite. ]

I’ll keep that in mind, Alhaitham. [ …most of the time. ] But that means you also should avoid buying anymore of those [ he crinkles his nose. ] eclectic statues.

It was within budget.

[ He will absolutely buy more of them is his thought as he settles into his own food. Just to see the way Kaveh gets mad at them. ]

We’re saving for a house, and your excessive spending [ this has got to be real rich coming from HIM. ] is only going to delay that. No more ugly decorations.

Then we shouldn't be buying any decor until we have that house.

Fine. We're not going to be here for much longer anyway, so the less we have the easier it'll be to move.

If we're going to be cutting out extraneous spending, might I suggest your drinking nights as well?

[ He's absolutely teasing with this suggestion, but there is a part of him that's curious if Kaveh would actually do it. ]
