Who: Venti, Yuri, Saya, Lumine, and Kantera
What: A moment of respite
When: March 4th
Where: A house at the far edge of Blossomcrown
Warnings: Probably mentions of previous game trauma/violence

[ Venti has always been the type who wanders to the beat of his own drum, dipping in and out of people's lives as easily as the blowing wind. But Tokyo-F . . . changed things, somewhat.

Though his initial instinct had been to sleep under a tree and call it "home," an invitation to live with old friends put a halt to those plans. For starters, it would be protection from the unpredictable weather in the segments. For another, maybe he did get used to having a bed and a room to call "home," in no small part because of the teammates and friends who inhabited it with him. Now that solitary tree feels . . . lonely, in a way it didn't before.

And so here he is, standing at the threshold of a house full of people he loves and trusts, who asked him to stay . . . it makes him feel his age, but not in a bad way, for once. Nor does he feel that nagging urge to disappear into the wind.

Should he catch anyone watching him, the pensive expression dissolves into a smile. ]

Hehe, is this the part where we fight over bedrooms?

[Katsuki nods as a greeting to Kantera, and he holds his arm out to get looked at but to his surprise it only takes a little bit of singing for his wounds to heal. He's quick to roll his sleeve up, and remove the bandages from the bear attack but.. they're all scarred up. No blood or nothing.

In fact, not only was he healed from that and the wounds he got from Saya, but he had a few extra wounds from back home that he was still healing from. Those.. no longer hurt.]

Woah, that's awesome!

[He exclaims, his eyes lighting up like a child's at the prospect of an immediate healing Quirk like this.]

Thank you. I'm happy to be of use.

[He still feels most comfortable prescribing medications, but unfortunately you just can't beat magic for efficiency.]

Pleased to meet you properly, Bakugo. Would you like some tea?

Pretty good, right? If I didn't heal up myself I'd be pestering you to fix me up all the time.

[ Stage whispering to Bakugo: ] Just say yes to the tea. If he doesn't fret over you a little he might lose sleep for a week.

[Katsuki is thrilled, honestly. Having someone able to fix him up like this is one thing, but he can bring Izuku to them too when he needs it. He'll need it far more than Katsuki, anyway.

He looks at Saya from the corner of his eyes as she whispers to him, and gives her a shrug.]

Sure, tea's fine. But don't put too much sugar in it.

You don't need to tell him that. Even if it is true.

[Not actually upset as he dips back into the kitchen to pour a cup of tea.]

I like to be helpful! [ And tease her husband. Her prerogative! ]

He makes very good tea, at least. And I'm glad he got you feeling better.

He even healed the injuries I got weeks ago before I ever came here!

[Katsuki's honestly never felt better.]

And this means I can spar with you as much as I want, until I'm able to catch up with you and blow that smile right off your face!

You two have fun. [Fondly, as he returns with a steaming cup of tea to hand over.]

I'm not much for sparring myself, but Saya enjoys it.

[ She goes over to stand with Kantera but isn't going to get mushy you're welcome Bakugo ]

I told you I always like sparring partners. Go on and try it.

In the meantime, we'll see what we can find out there.

Tomorrow. You and me. We'll do a race, and you're going to teach me how to be faster than the speed of sound.

[Katsuki's already pretty fast on his own, but he knows someone faster and the idea of training behind his back and showing him his progress is very exciting.

Either way, Katsuki is starting to feel comfortable and he brings the cup up to his lips but.. stops.]

...so.. is there somewhere I can sit and drink this or do I have to stand?

Ah - my apologies. The living room is most comfortable, I would say?

[what a bad host he is, making his guest stand!!]

Yeah... sorry. [ Soon enough she'll learn manners. Not soon, probably. ] Go on and sit wherever.

As far as teaching you -- sure, we can race. I'm not sure how much of what I do is possible to teach, but there's always something. You're pretty fast with the momentum from the explosions already.

I should probably tell you what kind of not human I am, huh? [ She looks *nervous* about this. ]

[Katsuki will go take a seat on their couch then, sitting prim and proper since he's at a guest's house. He listens to Saya as he takes a sip of his tea, and remarks in his head about the flavour. He's got a great palate, so he's quick to notice the different notes... that's a good cup of tea.]

If you want to. Otherwise I'm going to keep calling you "Miss Alien."

[Kantera gives Saya's shoulder a reassuring squeeze before taking a seat on the couch as well. This will be fine, even if it's something she'll probably always worry about.]

[ Saya remains standing, she's too uncomfortable to sit down. ]

The name of my species is called Chiropterans. It means bat. I'm a kind of vampire. But I don't attack people [ when in her right mind ], and it's not like it is in stories...

[ trailing off and BRACING HERSELF ]

A vampire?

[That does get Katsuki to pause before taking another sip, and raise a little eyebrow, but he doesn't look fearful. In fact, his expression shifts to something more of sympathy.]

Well.. of course it ain't gonna be like stories about them. That's why they're stories. It's the same thing with Heroes. There's comic books about 'em, sure, but they aren't realistic at all about what it's like to be one.

[Kantera knew it would be alright, but it's still good to hear that answer from Katuski directly.]

'Tis that way with most of the nonhumans I've met - the stories are far removed from the reality. I suspect that's true in every world.

[ Saya sinks down to sit beside her husband, looking numb. One might correctly assume that this hasn't always gone well. ] Sorry -- humans don't always like my kind much.

Anyway... my abilities are biological. I can't teach you in one lesson how to move that fast, but I can help you get faster over time, and more importantly, to learn how to beat someone even if they're as fast as me.

[ She's rambling a bit, sorry. ]

[Does being a Hero count as "nonhuman"? That doesn't settle too well with Katsuki, but he lets it roll off instead to agree with the sentiment.]

You probably saw all the people calling me childish for asking about Heroes and Villains, but my dedication is as real as it gets. I've been working towards being a Hero since my Quirk first manifested at four years old.

[Katsuki lowers his cup, and his gaze drops to his hands that grip it.]

I need to know how to beat someone as fast as you. That's my biggest weakness-- my speed. It takes one and a half seconds for me to make an explosion, and if I can't dodge quick enough then I won't be able to keep it up. I rely on huge explosions to clear the entire area, but if an enemy is fast enough to dodge that then I'm screwed.

It's happened before. Many times.

[The only time he felt like he was fast enough was when he saved Izuku's life. But he can't rely on a burst of emotions that pumped his adrenaline to the nines every single time he fights.]

[We wasn't counting Katsuki in the 'nonhuman' group, for what it's worth. Just himself and Saya.]

I don't think you're childish. [Quietly.] Your world is different from mine or Saya's, that's all. I think your dedication is an admirable thing.

[He doesn't have much advice on combat, unfortunately, so he'll leave that to Saya.]

I don't think it's childish either. I meant it when I said I wish I could do what you do.

[ She's not getting more into the bullshit story of her life without being asked, but yeah. Things get messy over centuries and when your twin is a psycho. ]

We'll work together, and you'll definitely be able to beat me in time. Especially once you figure out the new magic. I'm a lot more vulnerable to magic than physical attacks. [ Not something she shares generally, but as a show of good faith that she's not being patronizing. She really believes he could beat her with time and practice. ]

Oh, right. I forgot about the new stuff.

[That little puff of smoke he gave comes to mind, and his cheeks flush a little in embarrassment.]

I know someone who can teach me how to use fire better, so if I train with him for that and you for speed then I'll probably become completely unstoppable.

[Embarrassment quickly turns into excitement, and he gets a big grin on his face just thinking about mixing fire with his Quirk.]

I would believe that.

[It's not a good idea to let him get overconfident, but Kantera is bad about not indulging teenagers. Oops.]

[ His excitement is pretty adorable -- sorry, badass. ]

Not just fire, but telekinesis. It wouldn't surprise me if there are others we get as we learn.

There are people more powerful than me running around here, and you never know what they'll be vulnerable to. [ Avoiding mentioning how she knows that is definitely go. Pay no attention to the bard behind the curtain. ]

Telekinesis?
