What had started with Mami stress-baking far too much cake and offering to give some away, had lead to a number of other offers to bring food, and soon she had ended up in charge of a substantial potluck mingle. Well, she supposed it would make for a nice welcome party for everyone else who had been dragged into this strange new world with her!

And so, a number of small tables and picnic blankets had been set out with cakes, cookies, hot dogs, burgers and other sweet and savoury treats that her and others had been brought along. Mami had even taken the time to decorate the table with little flowers that she'd gathered as well, just to add to the atmosphere that the cherry blossom trees already provided.

Hopefully it would be a relaxing, pleasant afternoon.

Not yet, although I cannot access Tartarus at this time, so the most I could possibly do is try to gather all of the souls in some place, which almost seems like a worse idea than letting them spread out until they can reach the underworld.

[Keeping a lot of dead guys in one spot has GOTTA have bad effects on the mortal plane, right? He's never tried it, but also he would prefer not to.]

Lord Hades is certain to have my hide after this...

It's not exactly your fault you were summoned by--whoever those people are, the power holders. Weren't you held on the surface before, with Sisyphus? That wasn't your fault, either, right? Not like Father's known for being reasonable about these things. But still.

[glumchum]

[He dOES NOT WANT TO TALK ABOUT THAT. So embarrassing... And so much work to make up after. When you get kidnapped and don't even get a day off after!!!

He sighs.]

It is... Ah. Don't worry about it, Zag. It'll be my work to deal with when I get back.

At least this time I wasn't tricked into it.

It'd be nice if you could treat this like a vacation... but knowing you'll have to come back to a lot of work doesn't sound very relaxing.

[elbows him gently]

But there's no harm in trying, right?

[He is SO TENSE when he is elbowed. Not that this is incredibly different from his normal wound up state, but it is More.]

A forced vacation, I suppose. At least I am not in chains.

I can't help but think I should be doing more to find a way out, but I haven't the faintest idea how to go about it.

Neither do I, except the whole "fix this world's problems" thing, and that's obviously complicated.

You talked to anyone yet? Besides me.

A couple of people here or there.

.... I don't think most of them know I am Death... [They keep looking at him confused when he says he's not here for them, rather than relieved! A couple were disappointed! Such a strange crowd.]

There is someone here with a square head who seems to be Cthonic in nature as well, though I am not familiar with him.

They don't know you at all? But... you're... you.

[gestures ineffectively at All of Than]

Thought you'd be awfully popular among mortals. And you're sure square-head isn't one of your siblings. Odd...

[glumchum]

..... And just what is that supposed to mean? [He is so very himself. Even if you didn't recognize his face, he is a spooky grim reaper sort, from toe to tip. Floating ominously and holding a scythe and all.]

I am not popular among mortals. I am feared at best, but I am usually known. As for whether that square-headed fellow is a sibling of mine... Maybe. Not one I recognize.

Oh, come on, Than. You're very distinctive, Mr. "Death Approaches". You do like to make an entrance, don't you?

[He's rolling his eyes but also blushing. Like it's TRUE but don't point it out!]

Dying is a big deal to mortals. They only do it once, so I try to make it something memorable.

[Nevermind that he also does it to Zagreus, who dies multiple times daily(nightly? It's hard to tell in the underworld)]

It's certainly memorable, alright.

Anyway, does it bother you? Not being recognized. Just being another face in the crowd, as it were.

[He has to think about that for a bit. Does it bother him?]

No, it doesn't really bother me. It is a very strange experience, though. Mortals do not usually see me at all, until it is their time. And normally if they do accidentally catch a glimpse, they are afraid and do everything in their power to avoid me.

[Or they catch him in chains!!! But he won't mention that.]

I'm not usually approached so casually. Not even by other gods.

Having trouble making conversation, I take it? "Hello, how are you, lovely day or night we're having" not working out so well?
