About.

What had started with Mami stress-baking far too much cake and offering to give some away, had lead to a number of other offers to bring food, and soon she had ended up in charge of a substantial potluck mingle. Well, she supposed it would make for a nice welcome party for everyone else who had been dragged into this strange new world with her!

And so, a number of small tables and picnic blankets had been set out with cakes, cookies, hot dogs, burgers and other sweet and savoury treats that her and others had been brought along. Mami had even taken the time to decorate the table with little flowers that she'd gathered as well, just to add to the atmosphere that the cherry blossom trees already provided.

Hopefully it would be a relaxing, pleasant afternoon.

bakugo really enjoys cooking and eating with others so he'll bring something, but if anyone points out that he did he'll freak out!!!!


anyway he's making mapo tofu, specifically a recipe he learned from todoroki's older sister... it's EXTREMELY spicy though, so be careful if you're bad with spice!

Yuri's faves are mostly desserts (he also likes mapo tofu 👀), but he's happy to bring more savory stuff if needed. Still working out what exactly, but one thing's for sure:

Onigiri. There'll be a lot of them and there'll be a variety, with the vegetarian options off to one side and labeled in careful handwriting.

Also sandwiches, same theory as the onigiri. Egg salad, chicken salad, and a tomato-and-avocado spread thing he learned while attempting to cook for a lot of vegetarians and vegans in Imeeji lmao.

For dessert: a selection of handmade fruit sorbet.

The moment he heard about a potluck, Chipp probably could sense no one else was going to bring chili.
So he's bringing chili.
And to be fair, it's good chili. Y'know, the kind with a little bit of brown sugar sweetness to it, thick and hearty, plenty of meat, just enough of a subtle heat to really suit a chili right.

But he's also brought a jar of hot spices for folks who want to melt their faces off.

Lelouch is an overachiever and will be bringing the following:

Quiche Lorraine (bacon quiche?? bacon quiche)

Quiche aux épinards (... spinach, it's just spinach quiche, ignore him)

Probably also a spinach AND bacon (or ham) quiche while he's at it

A ridiculously over-the-top charcuterie board

SALADS. OF SOME DESCRIPTION. Caesar salad? Sure. Caprese salad? Yes. Other. Salads?? Ye. Some for sure with no animal products at all just in case.

Screw it, we're also bringing tea sandwiches (cucumber, smoked salmon, and egg and cress specifically)

Whatever dish Suzaku winds up requesting, will edit Okay nah, Suzaku is getting food reward for carrying all of this stuff later, so THAT IS ALL.

Preparation

[Mami found herself busily preparing for a much bigger event than she had first anticipated, but she was very grateful to anyone who came by either to help set up or to bring their own dishes. It took some of the weight off her shoulders]

Ah, thank you so much. This looks as if it will be quite the lively event, doesn't it?

Quiet Moment (the angst prompt)

[At times, before things got busy, Mami could be found lurking near the tables in a daze as her eyes caught sight of the ring she wore- it's yellow stone murky and tainted- whilst she sorted the little table flowers.

She was fine, she told herself. Completely fine.]

Ah...they did say contact with others might help...I wonder if that would work just as well for this, as well as our energy.

[And then, a nervous laugh escaped her as she held her hands close to her chest.]

Yes, well-...It- it has to work, doesn't it? If it doesn't...then...

Mingling

[Once all was underway, Mami was keen to flit around and chat to other people who attended, giving advice about the foods on offer, offering people cake and pouring tea for them- and all in all, it was going smoothly.]

Ah, I trust you are enjoying yourself? Have you tried any of the cakes yet?

ayaka is most excellent at making mochi!! so she'll bring a box with a handful of kinds— matcha, chocolate, and a ✨ special sakura mochi ✨!!

she's not very good with making other snacks yet, but she is a MOCHI MASTER.

Diner Food!

Kagami is continuing with the burgers and hot dogs already set out. He probably made a bunch of fries and onion rings, too. Anything you'd find in a typical American diner, to be honest so go ham

joe is going all out for this, so there will be a small selection of dishes he's offering.

Ryouma can't cook, so he's very responsibly spent some of the money he's been provided at the Brewery and has brought a considerable amount of sake and umeshu for everyone! He is happy to explain how this is a Tosa tradition and encourage everyone who looks old enough to partake. The umeshu is especially seasonal and is ideal for sipping under the cherry blossoms~

As foreshadowed earlier, providing:

- Tortellini soup with sausage and kale
- Beer cheese soup

yoimiya is all about making snacks and sharing food! so she will be bringing a variety of Japanese Inazuma festival snacks such as, candy apples, taiyaki, and her specially made dango

Along with the usual red bean filled taiyaki, she'll have several other flavors that include: custard cream, chocolate, matcha.

Oryou's understanding of potlucks is that you bring the kind of food you like the most, which is why there is a plate full of frogs now. I'm so sorry.

does a potluck need a variety of egg dishes? probably not. but tsumugi's bringing tamagoyaki, egg tarts, and egg curry anyway, along with fried eggs to go on top of other foods.

[Someone brought a plate full of whole frogs. At least they're deceased frogs and not live, wiggly ones, but they very much are frogs. Actually, there's two plates of frogs, one that looks like there was an attempt at cooking them and one where they're just straight up raw.

Who would have brought such a horrible thing-

-oh, it's probably the floating lady who's happily munching on frogs like this is an entirely normal thing to eat. There's probably not two people at this potluck who think this is okay.]

[She stares for a moment and pokes one with a serving fork.]

Oryou eats frogs at home. For potlucks you bring your favorite foods, don't you?

I guess so! I brought mine, after all! [headscratch] Are they good? There's places I've lived where sometimes people eat bugs, and that was okay, though I still prefer the kind of food I got in Japan. Especially since the wildlife doesn't steal it as often!

[ Oh look, it's a petite lady who is taking some of everything in sight (yep, even the cooked frogs. Why not, she feeds on people, don't be judgey). She praises everything effusively! And proceeds to devour a very large portion of food with ridiculous speed but dainty eating habits (she's careful not to take more than her share, or take the last of any dish, manners). ]
