WHAT: threads taking place before/during/after their exploration of the Crystal Mines

some general ooc information to keep track of:
- takes place sometime between first and second week of September (after the auction but before the event)
- there'll be a short briefing at Odyssey's quarters before the expedition with Levi sharing the relevant information he got from Virion with everyone.
- they'll be taking an airship there but stopping to rest as needed on the way.

levi - before expedition
[ He'll hold a short meeting at Odyssey's quarters before they head out into the Segments, explaining the goals of the expedition -- which is mainly, find any clues about the fate of a dwarf named Brourfumin. ]
[ He shares all the information he received from Virion that would be helpful to identify a dwarf or a skeleton of one -- yes, they'll have to be checking remains, as well -- like the proficiency with magic gemstones, long brown beard with a silver streak, double edged axe decorated with diamones, as well as the suggestion that if their search doesn't turn anything up, Southern Sea's shipwreck might be the next place to check out (potentially at a later date, depending how long this takes them). He also shows everyone the magic crystal he got from Virion and tells them they should retrieve it from him (if possible without too much risk) in the event that Levi dies. ]
[ It probably sounds like he's assuming lead for this, but he won't actually be pressing anyone into listening to him, unless what they're doing is unnecessarily endangering the group. ]
-- so that's it. We've got someone who's been through hell and came out of it to find the world outside completely changed. We have a chance to offer him some closure. If you don't think that's enough reason to risk your life, that's fine. You can leave now.
[ It seems Levi is going through with it either way, though. ]
--2. fart pocketman strikes again
[ This time, he's prepared for the potential hijinks in that he's wearing a cloth mask over his face as soon as he steps onto the airship. And yet, he still somehow looks both surprised and disappointed when a certain pokemon stinks up the airship once again, though it's not quite as quantifiably his fault this time. ]
Fuck's sake-- Again?
[ He's going to walk over and slap everyone involved in the incident across the back of their heads, and then escape either to the pilot's cabin, or just outright start climbing out a damn window because he is so done with this shit. (Don't worry, he's got the gear on. Maybe he just wants to hang in there under the ship for a bit.) ]
--3. night before the expedition
[ They do land at some point -- whether to air out the ship, to let Eren sleep, or just to rest a little before the exploring starts in earnest. Levi takes care to set up barrier stones around the camp, and appears to be making some kind of a stew for everyone, a small pile of bowls lined up next to the pot on the campfire. ]
[ You may or may not be roped into peeling the vegetables to help out. ]
[ In the end, it's mostly just potatoes, carrots and celery, but if someone wants to go hunting to add something more hearty to it, he won't turn it down. ]
[ Alternatively, you may be treated to the other pot, which contains... a similar stew, except peppered with bread cubes and raisins. It smells suspiciously of pizza. (Hell, maybe you even catch him in the middle of spooning the contents of his eternal pizza raising mayo stew jar into the pot to heat it up.) He doesn't look particularly interested in culinary judgement, but feel free to make it anyway. ]

[ open to other shenanigans as well! ]

Which is probably why, despite being a vampire and human food not helping with any of his hunger, he's still going to help with the stew. He doesn't even need to be ordered around, either. Katsuki walks up to Levi and points at some peeled vegetables next to him.]
Gimme those. I'll cut 'em.
[Even though his right mechanical arm is still freshly installed and can't move too much, Katsuki has developed a technique with just his left and cuts vegetables almost like a pro now. So he's eager to help out with something he's actually good at!!]

[ In the meantime, Levi looks vaguely surprised. Any other help he's managed to get so far he'd most likely had to order to do so (Eren and Farlan still listen to him... sometimes...), so this youngster volunteering himself is definitely unexpected. ]

[ And it's both his joy and his worry. As good as it feels to have someone who will always have his back, on a deeper level he's always aware of that one expedition they went on together back home. ]

[ There's no telling whether he'd actually be able to do anything, anyway. But at least the chances of trying are better if he's there. ]
[ He'll let himself focus on the more pleasant matters, following Farlan's eyes for a moment. He'd never cared too much about what quarters Odyssey had -- its purpose is the most important part -- but he has to admit that it's pretty nice. ]

[ Is that pride in his voice. You'd bet. ]

[He says it in a mocking way, but he is serious about it. He would remain close to Levi, both worried about him and feeling more secure about having him close.]

[ Likewise, the way he reaches over with a fist to just sort of noogie Farlan's cheek looks more playful than anything. He supposes he technically outranks him now, but they had always been equals -- if anything, Farlan had technically been the leader of their gang, even if it was always more of a joint co-lead operation. ]
[ The other remark catches him a little by surprise, and yet it rings very true, somehow. He hadn't thought of it in those particular words, maybe, but he can't really argue with it either. ]
...Oi. I can feel the grey hairs sprouting when you put it like that.
[ It's not impossible he's already got some, with the life he's had... it's more about the fact that it really brings to contrast the years separating them. They had been the same age when they joined the military, and now he's got half the world's weight and two handfuls of brats to show for it while Farlan's still there. ]

After the ship has been thoroughly aired out (causing more complaints, this time about the cold, which he alleviated as well as he could by warming his fellow travelers with his temperature control ability), he sticks his head out of the last open window to call Levi back inside.]

Maybe he should visit more often to stem the tide, then.][ His eyebrows rise very slightly while his eyes narrow. It seems he's not very pleased with the cat slander, even if he's being mature about it. ]

Farlan and Annie
He does question his choice of leaving Levi, even if he said he would stay close to him. But it had seemed like Levi was more than alright with him going.]
We might be waiting for a good while.
Toshirou Hijikata
[Hijikata wasn't all that keen on revisiting the mines, but Levi's tale of Virion's friend lit that shounen hero fire in him - and that aside, he also couldn't help but feel responsible for keeping an eye on Gintoki (why does that man keep going on dangerous expeditions while still a total magic newbie?!). What he couldn't have foreseen (though he really should have, given the precedent from the previous guilds-led expedition) was that the group would immediately split up. Left with Eren, Farlan, and Levi, he proceeded into the depths!
After traversing an uncomfortably swampy tunnel illuminated by emeralds and unlocking a secret one shining with diamonds, they eventually found a treasure chest placed centrally in an ornate room. Maybe they should've figure that it was a trap... but alas, they didn't, and once it attacks and Levi stabs it in the eye (why does a treasure chest have eyes?!), its scream makes Hijikata's head feel like it's splitting. When the shrill noise stops and he opens his scrunched-shut eyes back up, he finds himself... surrounded by monsters.]

[Where the hell did the others go?! Don't tell me you were all eaten!]
2) Mud Monster
[Having joined back up with at least half of the others - Katsuki and Mukuro -, they return to the strangely swampy area, where his sworn sister detects a hidden room underground... only for the mud to attack them all once more in tentacle form, just like it did on the initial way down. When it snatches Gintoki, Hijikata draws his claymore and attacks along with the others.]
Why is the mud attacking us?! Why's this cave muddy in the first place?!
[Arguably legitimate questions - and they may even find answers to them, seeing how the multiple attacks sever the muddy monster limb!]
3) Beard
[Having solved the mystery of the mud monster (which turned out to be quite sad, all things considered), the group marches on, with Annie and Farlan remaining on standby aboveground. In the next tunnel, they find... beards. The walls are covered in beards.]
..?
[He gingerly reaches out to touch one - long, black, and bushy -, and that turns out to be a horrible mistake. The beard all but jumps him, and he barely manages to emit a startled cry before it's already attached itself to his face.]
What the-- u-uhm, I mean... uh... sorry for shouting...
