Companion Creature Gathering

WHO: Byakuya Twogami and OPEN
WHAT: Twogami's organised a gathering for the influx of unwitting new Pokémon parents (and some more experienced ones) to network and gather information.
WHEN: Early April

WARNINGS: Mostly cute things but possibly trauma in Twogami's TL



After posting to the network about his plans to host a gathering for everyone who'd suddenly been gifted with Pokémon eggs. That way, at least they could exchange some sort of information- and let their new companions make some friends and training buddies!

...and so, despite the restlessness in his mind, he grit his teeth and set about organising another party.

Twogami had carefully selected the back rooms of a stylish cafe in Amberfall for the event, with elegant curtains framing wide glass doors that opened up onto an outdoor seating area.

The larger of the rooms sported a wooden floor - easy for clean up, and well-maintained - and it was here that he had seen to the catering, with tables against two of the walls containing a multitude of buffet-style foods and drinks. Beside that, a wide selection of Pokémon and pet treats on a lower table, that's easier for the little ones to get to. There's plenty of places about the room to sit, eat and talk, with the tables just spread out enough for Pokémon to go running around.

The adjacent room has been set out as something of a quiet space, for those who might find themselves a little overwhelmed by the activities. There's beanbags, blankets and other soft furnishings, along with a table of information; Twogami had collected plenty of information about the new creatures they've found- some in physical books, others copies of his own notes that have been printed and set into ring-binders for anyone to take home with them.

The outside area was primarily set out for their new companion creatures to play and run around, with different types of toys and games to keep them amused- including a spacious inflatable pool and a marked off area for them to test out their battle abilities, should they choose!

Rinku smiles, nodding along at Eren's explanation. She lets Mecchan climb down from her shoulder and holds him in her hands, where he looks curiously at Yamask and blows a nervous little bubble.

"Wow, really? Did you find Yamask-chan in another world? If you were both lost and away from the worlds you came from, then maybe it was fate for you to be friends!"

She nods. That makes sense to her!

Friends, Rinku says. She uses that word a lot. Eren isn't sure that Yamask is friends with him, or with anyone. They're both a little stand-offish, though Eren is distant and cold and Yamask is wary and shy (and apparently curses inanimate objects, it's fine, nothing could ever go wrong). He glances at the little ghost, who stares right back at him.

Okay, fine, maybe they're friends. It's been almost three years now.

"I got it after I survived a night in a demon infested house," he says, as if that's fine and normal. "Folkmore had a lot of weird shit. I'm…not sure why I got this little guy in particular, but he's been with me for years. Sometimes people are afraid of him, but I think it's just because he's a ghost. Someone told me that Yamasks used to be human once. That mask thing it has was, uh. Was its human face or something."

He says that so matter-of-fact.

Yamask bobs up and down a little, clutchy appendages tightening for a second on said mask. It's very protective of it, apparently for good reason.

"Did you have Pokemon where you came from or are they new to you too?"

"I'd never met one until I came here." She shakes her head. "Just animals and humans and stuff. But Clavell-sensei taught me a lot. Larry-san too, and some other people. It sounds like you take good care of Yamask-chan. I wouldn't want everyone to be scared of me either."

Mecchan nervously blows a bubble and babbles an apology. He isn't going to hurt Yamask's mask! It's very nice!

"Mecchan's scared of lots of things, but he's been getting a lot better. Hina-chan I don't think is scared of much at all! A bird tried to get her once and she just tried to bite it until it flew away."

Eren has never had a pet or anything. Yamask is a lot less work than, say, a cat or dog. It's probably less work than some other Pokemon, really, but Eren has never acquired a second one so he doesn't know. Reiner has one, but she's not much work either.

"It likes berries," he says. He doesn't even know about Pokemon specific berries! He just knows that whenever he has berries, Yamask always wants some.

He looks down at Mecchan. Eren is probably intimidating on accident, but he doesn't mean to be.

"I wonder why he's so scared," he says. "Sounds like he should learn from Hina."

Mecchan shivers, but Rinku smiles down at him, holding him in her hands.

"He's always been pretty anxious. But he still looks after Hina-chan. She's basically his little sister now." She beams up at Eren. "He helps her with stuff she can't do, like seeing or using stuff you need hands for."
