( Uta really is running herself ragged, doing her best to help. After what happened back in her home world, as well as being thrown into a very chaotic situation here in Ellipsa, she needs all the help she can get trying to concentrate.

So, she sings, hand joined with a perfect stranger. )

( If it worked the first time, why not the second?

Uta looks to her companion; she's not embarrassed to sing or anything in front of people, but some might still find it strange. )

Ah ... Do you mind if I sing? I've done this before — it helps me concentrate!

Eh?

[Rinku holds onto the ribbon. She blinks at Uta... but then sparkles and nods.]

Of course! I wanna help! And I'm a musician too, so I bet it'll work!

[That and other reasons, but they've got a big problem to deal with first.]

( Uta is all sparkly too at the way Rinku lights up, but they do indeed have a pretty big problem to deal with. A duet with someone isn't really something she's done a lot of before. Not with another musician, at least.

She thinks of singing with her crew and seems to balk for just a split second before she starts. )

[Rinku smiles excitedly. She tightly holds onto the ribbon and begins to sing wordlessly, falling into place with Uta's song. She might even be dancing a little as it keeps up.

And then she reaches into her Hammerspace Purse with her free hand and starts live mixing background tracks with her phone. And then, as the song goes on, she starts to really sing along, following even as she's learning it on the fly.

She barely knows Uta, but this is Rinku. Her heart is always open, always looking to make the connections she's named for.]

( Her companion must be a performer, too; she's immediately jumping into the song like that, and the feeling she gets from dueting with someone who knows what she's doing fills her with such joy.

She has a smile on her face as the song closes out. A smile she hasn't let show in years, it seems. )

[Rinku sparkles, energy flying through the ribbon. It starts to clear out the rod, the white replacing the black inside and looking almost like bleach spots. Everyone else seems more energized too as they put their own power into the ribbon.]

You're amazing, Uta-chan! Do you do this a lot at home? Are you a singer? Are you in a unit?

A-ah, yeah! I'm a ... singer back home.

( She falters just a little, but picks herself back up to answer the other question. )

I don't really sing with other people. I think you're my first!

[roundandaround]

Wooow! Really? You were doing so well, though! I felt like I could do anything with you!

Thanks a lot! You did great! I bet everyone'll be ultra happy now too.

[Aikawa Megumi is used to many things: used to working with strangers, used to having to meditate, used to silly little distractions thanks to her squad leader...

And yet she isn't prepared for sudden singing.

More importantly, sudden incredible singing that it breaks her concentration for a quip:]

Wait, wait, wait, ya can't just suddenly throw me a professional singin' voice out of nowhere...!

( Uta feels, deep down, that she's at her best when she sings. Even with everything that's happened because of her voice, it still remains as a way to help people. She does balk a little at the plain shock from Megumi, but keeps on with her song. Squeezing her hand gently, as though to bring her focus back to the task. )

And I'm not even gonna get a response!?

[That's what gets her more than the singing? Nevertheless, she takes in a breath as she tries to pull herself together; at the very least her shock isn't...negative? Just surprised, really, even if it's not the first time she's heard such a talented singer.

It's just been a couple of months that she's heard someone like that.

Time to close her eyes and concentrate... concentrate...!!]

( Breaking her singing would mean breaking her concentration; she hopes to explain that when they're done. All Uta does is squeeze her hand once more, and she carries her voice through the remainder of the song.

When they're done, she's turning to bow her head in a slightly apologetic gesture. )

S-sorry, I ... I didn't want to break my concentration.

That's it!? Couldn't ya have had some pity fer my concentration...!

[Megumi.]

S-sorry! I should have considered!

( She bows her head in apology. )

You're alright, aren't you?

[Megumi sighs heavily, her shoulders sagging too much. It really isn't that big of an issue, even if she is like this at times.]

Yeah, I'm fine. Ain't hurt or anythin'... Just a little drained. A good night's sleep should handle that.
