Catch the VoidThe animal shelter in Amberfall has its own section for a cat species called "the void cat". They look like normal black cats, but they have a habit of disappearing into the shadows of dark corners. A group of these cats has made an escape and are running around doing what cats do: stealing food, dropping things down from high places, scratching everything and absorbing light from light sources. Help the shelter staff catch and bring them back to the shelter.Yes, the void cats are adoptable, hence why they are in the animal shelter. They just like running off a lot and sometimes make all light in a room disappear. The cats can be anywhere in the city, but generally don't go out into the segments as they do love people, but are just also adventurous.50 Moon Coins
It's in Your MayoSolarpeak is known for its street food. And what goes well with street food? Mayonnaise. It's not, however, all it's used for as it's a way of attracting a culinary creature that only flies around the Summer District skies at this time of the year: The Cabbage Kites. They're flying cabbages that move around restlessly, but once they taste a mayonnaise that they deem tasty, they will turn into regular, very tasty and nutritious cabbages. Anyone around the place is challenged to make their own mayonnaise from scratch and see how well you do with the cabbage kites.Cabbage Kites are creatures that search for the right food (mayo) that satisfies them all their life before their souls ascend, leaving their cabbage body behind. They can be attacked by other means, but the natives would find this disrespectful and likely throw mayonnaise at the characters, so it's not recommended when there's a peaceful way out.any cabbage you catch
Welcome to the JungleWhen delivering new potions to people, please remember to use caution and don't trip. Someone did, right next to the clocktower. Now there's an almost literal jungle surrounding Coldreach's infamous clocktower and making it hard to access parts of it. Since the vines that surround the place were made by potions, they're impossible to cut through by normal means and making a potion to counter this one would take time. Use your imagination to deal with this problem without burning the place down. Anyone who burns the clocktower will be arrested.Due to the excess amount of potions that fell on the tower, the vines regrow over time, making this quest be available for the whole two months even if someone manages to solve the problem right away. The vines are also alive and will try to grab anyone who tries destroying them and keep them as a meat shield.100 Moon Coins
Who You Gonna CallA group of mischievous ghosts have possessed some of the trash bins all over the city. Some of them have grown large enough to consume two people at once. They're not really in danger, just stuck in the trash bins. Help the people stuck in trash bins and try to chase the mischievous ghosts out of the city. One way to get ghosts to evacuate the trash bins is to make them feel uncomfortable with temperature changes or shaking the bins enough (you might want to rescue the people before attempting these). That way they will find something else to possess or leave entirely. Ghosts can only be seen if they possess something, unless you're a Winter power holder.100 Moon Coins
NSFW Quest Stranger BurglariesNightwake Center and it's Red Light Sub-district is in chaos. A group of burglars have been going around stealing people's lingerie. Any lingerie left unattended has been swiped and anyone has needed to go home commando afterwards. The natives that frequent the district and the staff members of clubs are all asking to get to the bottom of this. The burglars are regular perverts who want to use them for magical enhancement purposes as the power of intimacy will work wonders for intimate items, or so the rumor goes.500 Moon Coins

Bridge of the Lost
CW: forced truths
At exactly noon, the bridge crossing the biggest river in the Winter Segment shines a peculiar light. In the past, it was a way of natives meeting their lost loved ones one last time. No one knows what would happen now, with the changes in the world, so we are looking for brave souls willing to go to the bridge and see what happens. The Bridge only works now if people go on it in pairs and there are three possible scenarios that can happen: 1) The characters who entered the bridge will see each other as someone they lost. 2) The characters will see their worst enemy in each other. 3) The characters will see themselves in each other, but either an idealistic version of themselves or something they would never want to see themselves become.
The barrier around the bridge will disappear once something truthful about the person they see in front of them has been said.

Bone Sucker's Coming to Town
CW: Gore, Death
Some natives enjoy going to the Watcher's Tower to look at the Winter Segment from a safe place. Unfortunately, bodies of the natives have started to turn up. They're all in the same condition: all of their bones in their body have been sucked out. Everything else is completely intact. Solve the mystery and bring peace to the lost ones. The monsters behind the case are called Warlock Skeletons. The suck bones out of living things with their dark magic to make skeletons that move and do their bidding. They can be killed as long as the powerful jewel on their neck is destroyed.200 Moon Coins
Harvest the ColorsIn the evenings, by the Unfrozen Lake, various Northern Lights colored winter animals appear. These animals have absorbed the light and magic of the beautiful multicolored night sky. If you manage to befriend one, the animal will accepts pets. Touching the animals will lead to dust sticking to your hands and that dust can then be put into an empty bottle. Please collect a few bottles for the Tower of Potions to use.The dust can only be collected by being kind to the animals. Being mean or killing them will make all of the dust around the area turn into regular powder and make the other animals flee. The Northern Light dust can be used for different power enhancing potions and medicine.50 Moon Coins, a bottle of the dust
It's a Bird, It's a Plane, It's an... Orca? One of the rarer visitors of the night skies of the Winter Segment is a species called the Sky Orca. They usually appear once a year and seeing them is a sign of good luck. The guilds are encouraging people to visit the segments to pay a visit to the Orca offspring that want to play with people and to protect them from the dangers of the segment while they are here. After a successful playdate, the mother Orcas will drop clouds down that can be used as comfortable beds.Seeing and playing with the Orcas will literally boost anyone's luck and make them less likely to get into accidents for a whole week. On the flip side, if someone would kill any of the orcas, they would experience nothing but bad luck for two weeks.A comfy cloud bed, or 100 Moon Coins for giving it away
Test of CourageA few times a year, a mysterious house appears near the border with the Spring Segment, close to the Flower Yard. No one knows how or why it appears, but for decades it has been used as a "Test of Courage" site. It appears at nightfall and disappears before the sun rises (on several nights for several weeks). There have been times when someone has walked into the house and didn't get out on time... and had to spend the whole night until next in there. They weren't the same after that... Otherwise the house is safe, even if very spooky. How about a test of courage? The house is very much a haunted house. More accurately it's a house that has been possessed by several ghosts so they make the house move on its own and move things to spook people. They just want to have fun and don't do this out of malice. The only danger is staying in the house when the sun rises as the house will disappear into a void space with anyone inside. What happens in void space? The ghosts start showing characters' greatest fears on display for anyone inside the void space to see and make fun of them.20 Moon Coins

Can You Dye With All the Colors of the LakeThe annual fashion show is in June and fashion designers are looking for new inspirations. In fact, they are all looking for unique colors for their fabrics. They are asking for people who would be willing to travel to Prism Lake to dye their fabrics into new creations. They are given a potion that will make the fabric permanently absorb the color - but before using it, it's easy to test out different combinations. As a reward they will make you any outfit, either out of the colored fabrics or something else. The biggest threat on this mission are the rainbow dyed bears that will occasionally come to find delicious fish from the lake. They aren't anything special, just normal bears that have been dyed by the lake. Characters can also fall into the lake and get a new coloring... but it's only permanent if they drink the potion. There are counter potions for it, however.50 Moon Coins, free designer outfit
Duck, Duck!Lately, anyone who has been going into the Spring Segment has been bombarded by none other than ducks. Not just any ducks, but magical Kung Fu Ducks. They're ducks that know Kung Fu and can use wind powers with their moves! We don't know where they are even coming from, but somehow I blame Jeffrey. There have been catapult prototypes that have been stolen from The Research Center scientists who came to test them out. The Kung Fu Ducks are using these to launch themselves to fight opponents bigger than they are... since they're no larger than normal ducks. Still, they can be pretty menacing.80 Moon Coins
In the Eye of a HurricaneLately, a lot of tornadoes have been forming around the segment, especially near the safe zones. Unfortunately, this means people are getting trapped inside tornadoes, unable to get out of them. The tornadoes are stubbornly staying in the same spot for a long time, almost as if challenging people to break through the wall of wind and get people out. Which is exactly what we're asking people to do.The tornadoes are mostly normal tornadoes, expect for the fact that they can stay in one place for a long time, almost as if someone would be controlling them. And they are, by a group of Hurricane Birds that fly around the tornadoes. They look like eagles that are made out of steel. Their weak point is their stomachs. Chase them off or kill them, as long as you get them to stop making hurricanes.100 Moon Coins
On the Wings of a ButterflyOnce a year, for two month period, a group of giant butterflies arrive. They offer lifts for anyone who need them and they are very fast flyers. Due to their size they're also not affected by the strong gusts of winds. The butterflies will help anyone harvest fresh cherry blossom petals from the Cherry Blossom Park without getting in unnecessary danger down below.Cherry Blossom Petals can be used for various cosmetics, food, drinks and potions. Their magical qualities lies in prolonging life, making them important for medical departments to have.100 Moon Coins if you sell a bag of your cherry blossom petals or just cherry blossom petals
Slime DessertsEveryone knows there are slimes everywhere in the Spring Segment. However, only a few know that there are special slimes called Dessert Slimes among them. Their essence, the slime they produce, is a great ingredient in many cakes and desserts. Depending on the color it can taste like chocolate, fudge, liquorice and many other things. The best part of it is you don't have to kill them - just collect some slime residue. A chef in Nightwake has requested a variety of flavors and promises to pay anyone who is willing to collect some slime.Slime Desserts are the same as slime: very weak and easy to intimidate. They are, however, rarer than the normal slime and only their scent will be an obvious way to tell them apart.30 Moon Coins

Hope You Have a Landing StrategySince the Mermaids have invited people to The Great Ocean Lake (see the Rain Dance quest), we have come up with different ways to get people there. There's, of course, the airship but for those who want to get there faster there's a big catapult waiting at the Dayrise Bridge. It's strong enough to throw anyone over the forest and beach, straight into the lake. It should only take a few hours through the sky, maybe even less! Scientists will pay anyone who is willing to use it.The landing may very well end up getting them a bit too short and landing onto the beach instead, but with a right landing strategy there shouldn't be any problems. Right? Right. Use any powers available to make sure your landing is safe or depend on others for to help you out.
Getting back from the lake is definitely a different story.

It Only Stings a Little
CW: scorpions, willing poisoning
Coldreach's Tower of Potions has made a request to go to the Deserter's Desert and find a specific scorpion species there that produces a poison that will make them sick (high fever), will also make them invincible for as long as the poison is in their system. The poison needs to be harvested by letting the scorpions sting someone, so bring a partner who can help you come back from the Desert. There's a time limit of 72 hours to get the poison out of someone's system before they pass away, which is why the members of the Tower have made a safe place to treat patients near the Summer Flower Yard. Doing it yourself is also an option, if you know how.200 Moon Coins
They Lava You
CW: Lava, Fire, Possible Burns
A larger group of Lava Lizards have left their home of the Lava-Ridden Land and are now terrorizing everything at the edge of the Jungle of Judgement. They're spitting lava at everything and anything, making the area dangerous to walk in and burning trees. They are steadily walking towards the city barrier. The larger pits of lava they manage to make also attract the Wyverns, so the fight may get dangerous and fast if something isn't done about it.Both the Lava Lizards and Wyverns are tough skinned and hard to fight with. Wyverns also breathe fire so things may get very heated, very fast. Some of the lizards are also chameleons and will mask themselves to ambush their prey. Mermaids will send pillars or water with their magic, as well as work on the Rain Dance to put out fires (see Rain Dance quest).500 Moon Coins
Technical Move: Rain DanceThe Summer Segment is known for its rough droughts. The Mermaids of the the Great Ocean Lake have decided to do something about it: a special dance called the Rain Dance. They need a lot of help though and are inviting everyone to participate either in the water or on the beach nearby. As a prize they will give you a special seashell necklace.
Be careful of the Sirens though because some may be pretending to be mermaids and will try to drag you with them underwater.
The seashell necklace will release a temperature altering bubble when used underwater, making the water around the user a pleasant temperature and also lets the user breathe under water. Out of water it's just a pretty shell that you can put on your ear and hear a whale sing. The necklace needs to be powered up by touch energy and it lasts for 12 hours per charge.Seashell necklace
Temple of FrustrationThe Temple of Life has been a mystery for the longest of time. For some unknown reason all of the monsters avoid it and no one has been able to figure out why. We would like to investigate what's inside so use any methods possible to break down the temple door. If that doesn't work, please leave our measuring devices there so we can monitor any changes to the temple. Enter the Jungle of Judgement from the Spring Airship Station side for the easiest route. The Temple of Life's door remains closed no matter what you do to it. It seems that something really powerful is protecting it. The Research team will pay for a full report of all the methods characters have tried of accessing the temple and for leaving their measuring technology on the scene. Otherwise, the Temple will surely be important later.
If your character decides to wander to the Jungle of Judgement, please let us know and we will let you know what to expect.

Quest NameDescriptionOOC NotesRewards
Blood Bloom
CW: Blood, Blood loss
A species thought lost to the darkness has been spotted around the Autumn Segment. It's called Treanpire and it's a living, walking tree that also has the qualities of a vampire. It uses its roots and vines to suck blood out of all living things. After a feast its branches will bloom different colored flowers, depending on the blood it drank. They're dangerous and like to stalk people around the Airship Station and the Flower Yard. Take care of them. The flowers on a Treanpire can be used for various blood related potions and medicine, but they can only be plucked out when the Treanpires are alive. When they die, the flowers die with them. If plucked before death, they remain good for potions.500 Moon Coins
Chef Needs Maple Syrup BadlyA chef working at Coldreach has sadly run out of maple syrup for his restaurant that sells creations made out of maple syrup. He has requested that people would travel to Maybe it's Mapleline forest in the Autumn Segment to gather some more of it. He warns that staying there for too long might be a bad idea, so just quickly take some maple syrup from a tree and run (yes it comes as ready to bottle maple syrup).Maybe it's Mapleline is a mysterious forest that turns anyone partially into a maple monster when they spent too much time there. It's said seasonal power holders are more resistant to it, but eventually the forest's power will affect them, too (in around a full day in the forest). Normally herbivorous animals that live there are now carnivorous and the other way around, so try not to get killed by a small, cute, maple squirrel.50 Moon Coins per jar of Maple Syrup
The Graveyard ShiftThe Abandoned Graveyard needs some maintenance every now and then. Cleaning the graves, sweeping some fallen leaves and leaving fresh flowers by the graves as a memorial. The natives would usually do this themselves, but with the increase of monsters and catastrophes, they're asking for otherworlders to do it instead.A part of the graveyard is flooded, but it's still safe as it's inside the barrier made by the whole graveyard. However, if someone goes outside of the barrier and near the water, there are vicious Skelefish waiting outside. They're believed to be related to piranhas, but they're made out of sharp bones.30 Moon Coins
Thunderbolts and Lightning, Very Very ExcitingA group of Research Center staff has been interested in the thunderstorms over the Autumn Segment. Because of that they are looking for volunteers who would wear a rubber suit and stand in the storms to collect some data on special thunderproof devices. It should be safe with the specially made rubber suits. They're not the comfiest to walk in or do anything, but it's better to be safe than sorry!During the thunderstorms a species called a Storm Surfer (foxes made out of pure electricity) will appear. They're playful and curious and will likely try to take off anyone's rubber suit by using the zipper on the back and if they touch someone who isn't resistant to electricity they will most likely paralyze them.100 Moon Coins
With Great Power Comes Great FrogsThe Research Center has a capture quest. There is a species called "Almighty Frog" that's living in the Autumn Segment that they have taken an interest in. It's a frog that can wield all the basic elements (water, wind, fire, earth). The scientists are curious as to why a native frog can use all elements without everything going to hell, but native humans cannot. It's important the frogs are captured alive and brought back to the Center... but they're hard to catch and challenge people to a duel.Almighty Frogs are the size of an infant, so larger than normal frogs, but still relatively small. They still pack quite a punch as they are agile and can use all elements simultaneously. Usually they are pacifists, but they love challenging people to battle. They mostly live in the swamps near the Pumpkin Spice Trail that drains seasonal magical energy (ineffective against the frogs) so they need to be lured out to fight.200 Moon Coins

1 - Maple Syrup, schmaple... syrup?

[ Iggy realized within the first few hours of his arrival a few weeks ago, that money was a necessity here. No longer able to take Bowser's money to do what he pleases with, he understands that he has options here: he can do the right thing by scamming people out of their hard earned coins or just steal them, or he can do the wrong thing in HIS humble opinion and work hard for it. After much mental debate, he's finding that the actual easier option this time around is working, because even he isn't crazy enough to stir enough proverbial poo around to get himself into hot water just yet.

Jungles are his forte, anyways. Bowser specifically stations him in jungles and forests for a reason, and so, despite the warnings he's pretty at ease as he makes his way towards his target. Sure, the blood flower thingies had sounded WAY cooler, but also he's not about to risk getting his own hide skinned, so, maple syrup it is.

He pushes a few vines out of his way, blinking as he approaches what he can only rightfully assume is one of the correct trees. He whistles appreciatively at the size, bringing a hand up over his eyes to gaze upon all of it's maple-y glory. ]

I dunno why that guy was so worried, this was a total piece of cake.

[ There's a sound of rustling behind him, and he grins, turning his gaze away from the tree and over his shoulder to stare eerily at anyone who might be approaching. ]

Well, well. Making a little money, too, are we~?

2 - The Graveyard Episode.

[ Next time, he's going to have to take better jobs, he's decided as he clears dust and debris off of a random grave with the simple wave of his wand. He ain't scared of no ghosts, clearly, considering how bored he looks. If this place was anything like the cemeteries at home, it'd definitely be crawling with ghosts and Boos who would be groveling at his feet, but noooo. This working for money thing is a total waste of time. ]

This suuuucks! Ugh! [ Even still, he waves his wand and bouquets of beautiful flowers appear in a flurry of color, because while he may be bored, he's not exactly going to just leave the graves entirely bare. He might not be scared of no ghosts, but he's not entirely disrespectful, either. He huffs and adjusts his glasses, glancing around, when he takes notice of the water. Whatever work is left seems to be disregarded as he makes his way over, following the waterline until it reaches the barrier.

He crouches down and squints, and then gasps almost gleefully as he sees something moving in the murky water just under the surface that ALMOST resembles a creature from home, but not quite. ]

Huh, maybe this place isn't so bad after all. I could use a few more pets...

[ Except he really doesn't need another pet, because there's suddenly loud barking from behind him and the sounds of rattling chains as a small but exceedingly vicious creature bounds up behind him. Iggy turns away from the water and actually smiles a small, genuine smile and reaches out to place a hand atop the creature's head. ]

Jealous? [ The small chain chomp whines and huffs, and he chuckles. ] Don't be. You're always gonna be my favorite, I swear on my cold, black heart! [ He moves a clawed finger under the chomp's 'chin', scratching lightly. The creature's chain whips back and forth, wagging like a dog's tail would. ] Still gotta come up with a good name for you, though...

3 - Wildcard.

[ Got anything else that looks fun or interesting? Go for it! ]

1. Welcome to the Jungle

[ Giant plants have taken over an entire clock tower and there is no way Nen isn't about to be all over that. Did they officially accept this quest? No. Are they going anyway? Abso-heckin-lutely.

The clocktower and vines are a lot more impressive in person than Nen thought they would be. So impressive, in fact, that Nenonen is going to walk right up to them and give them a few good pokes. This is always a Good IdeaTM.

As evidenced by the fact that no less than ten minutes later Nen can be found tangled up in them upside-down. This is fine. Or would be fine, if all the Essence inside them wasn't rushing to their head right now and making their face look a little. uh. grey. ]

2. Who You Gonna Call

[ NOT NEN. But also maybe yes do call Nen. Weird stuff has been hanging around garbage cans for the last several days, but considering how weird Ellipsa is in general compared to the world Nenonen comes from, they try not to think too much of it. It's not until the garbage cans start growing that Nen actually slows down to look at one.

And notices someone about to get near it. ]

You probably shouldn't do that. There's something inside it.

3. Bridge of the Lost - (contact first)

[ Well. It's noontime. The exact time specified in the request. It seems like a pretty easy quest all things considered (no beasts to overcome, no fetching required), so Nen just stares at it for a moment, makes a thoughtful sound, then turns to their accomplice. ]

I don't see anything. Should we stand in the middle?

4. Slime Desserts

[ Now this is a quest Nen can get behind. All they have to do is find a "slime". A sweet one! And by now, Nen is very familiar with sweet things. You would think that finding a sweet slime when the little buggers are all over the Spring Segment would be an easy task, but after picking up their twelfth slime, giving it a lick, and making a face...this is proving to be a more difficult task than Nen anticipated.

The green on their face may not be entirely from the slime either. ]

...This is not a sweet slime.

[ It is a Gross SlimeTM Nen puts the poporing slime down and wipes their mouth with the back of a hand. ]

    Are you having any luck?

5. Graveyard Shift

[ Of all the jobs that Nen has tried throughout the month, this is the one that Nen's the most curious about from a knowledge standpoint. The concept of burying the dead for a peaceful rest is so vastly different from their own world's practice that Nen honestly isn't sure what to think about it. Whenever one of the Test Subjects died in the lab, it was autopsy followed by scientific study. After that...well, Nen tries not to think too hard about that. But common practice was to incinerate whatever wasn't preserved. That's just what you did with organic matter.

Dedicating an entire swath of land to burying bodies without the intent of preserving them, 'prettying' them up with coffins and rites when they were only going to decay anyway seems...a little pointless? There's a sentiment there, Nenonen is sure. They just aren't sure what it is. ]

I don't understand the point of going to this much trouble. How does burying someone make you feel better when they die?

[ This is asked while Nen works to untangle some ivy from one of the monuments and put a bouquet of flowers in its place. The ivy's tugged away without much thought, but the flowers? Those get put down like the precious babies they are. ]

It's in Your Mayo (for [personal profile] tsumtsuki)

[When Hijikata heard of the cabbage kites and their very special life cycle he immediately was all excited. Creatures that spend their whole life in search of the best mayonnaise? He has just the right thing for them! He doesn't even attempt to make mayonnaise himself (everyone knows that only mayonnaise fairies can do that, regardless of multiple people's claims to the contrary!). Instead he uses the Spread Stick he bought in Riki's shop to diligently create heaps of his beloved Mayorin brand mayonnaise from home and fill it into jars until he has a half-dozen full. With those he sets out to to fulfill some cabbage kite dreams.

Whether Tsumugi runs into him in Dayrise, Solarpeak, or Sunwaning, he's having the time of his life, wearing a simple black kimono he bought himself not long ago (his uniform from home is just too much for the summer districts!) and smiling brightly as he observes a cabbage kite approaching the spoon he's holding out.]

Come on, come on! This is it, I promise you! This is the mayonnaise that'll send you to Heaven!

[As soon as the cabbage kite samples the condiment (... somehow), its soul really does ascend, though all Hijikata and Tsumugi can see is its body lifelessly dropping out of the air. Hijikata catches it in a scarily practised motion, then puts it in the big cooler bag next to him. Just how many cabbage kites has he already caught?!]

Welcome to the Jungle (for [personal profile] fullgauntlet)

[So someone spilled a potion and inadvertently created a small jungle in Coldreach. Hijikata sets out to handle the situation... but it turns out to be more of a problem than he anticipated. His trusty sword, which should cut all the more sharply after its recent enhancement, bounces off the thick vines as if it were made of rubber, and before the samurai knows it he's been ensnared.]

Seriously?! Come the hell on! This is a beginner quest! I'm a veteran--

[He pipes down as a vine wraps around his neck. Okay, it looks like he'll need to use his fire magic! He sets his surroundings ablaze... only to remember a little belatedly that he's not fireproof (that's an advanced ability, after all).]

Shit--

[This kind of didn't go as planned. Sorry, Izuku, you're arriving to a bit of a mess here!]

Stranger Burglaries (for [personal profile] detectiveforhierophant)

[A lingerie thief, huh? Hijikata has dealt with that kind of pervert before! Of course he has no lingerie to steal, but the underwear thief back in Edo made it a habit to drop off "pity panties" for men who usually won't get to see any women's underwear up close... and Hijikata was among the recipients. (That later turned out to have been a prank by his subordinate Okita, but it still got him pissed off enough to join the neighbourhood's efforts to apprehend the thief!) So he can be found observing a backyard near the red light district where a lacy pair of panties, along with a matching bra, is hanging out to dry.]

He'll probably appear any moment. And then...

[He smirks, hand on his sword. He's not at all beyond using his fire magic, too. A filthy pervert like that deserves a little scorching!]

Bridge of the Lost (for [personal profile] wayofthehousekeeper)

[It took Hijikata and Thoma several days to get to the mysterious bridge, even with their rented snowmobile. Hijikata delegated all sorts of tasks to Thoma on the way: Since he can, thanks to his Vision from home and his local winter powers, wield both fire- and water magic the samurai instructed him to melt respectively freeze the different types of snowskeletons that chased after them on their journey (while he focused on steering), and at night he had Thoma raise up a protective igloo (or at least some approximation of one). If the poor housekeeper could not manage that he'd have to listen to Hijikata's sighs about how he should practice more! On top of that he got so spooked by sudden noises in the night on several occasions that he clung on to Thoma as they laid in their sleeping bags.

With Thoma somehow able to look past all that (?) they eventually arrive at the bridge not long before noon. Hijikata scrutinises it as they approach.]

It looks so harmless... but I've seen some shit happen on normal-looking bridges before, so let's be careful.

Bone Sucker's Coming to Town

[People getting their bones sucked out of their bodies is something Hijikata can't just turn a blind eye to. Whoever is doing that needs to be stopped! So he ventures out in the direction of the watchtower with a rented snowmobile. He's plagued by second thoughts, though: What if he's no match for this enemy? What if he gets his bones sucked out?! He doesn't want any of the kids who have become like little siblings to him having to identify his deflated-blow-up-doll-looking boneless corpse!! Technically he actually promised to not go into the Segments on his own anymore1 When he spots another person in the distance he perks up in relief and steers his vehicle towards them.]

Hey!! Are you also looking for the bone suckers?

[Hopefully his fellow otherworlder has more of a plan for this than he does!]

Test of Courage (for [personal profile] angerintomiracles)

[Hijikata should not have let Eva rope him into this. But what's a man to do when a cheeky kid asks him if he's scared of an old house? There was no way he could have said yes! And so he finds himself in the Winter Segment after dark with her, having come out here with a chariot he only recently learned to steer (it was a terribly bumpy ride, but they couldn't take a snowmobile since there's no snow on the ground this close to the border with the Spring Segment). The mysterious house ominously rises into the night in front of them, and Hijikata can already feel the goosebumps all over his body under his uniform.]

So... so this is it, huh.

[He's making no move to go in first.]

Can You Dye With All the Colors of the Lake

[Hijikata doesn't really care about fashion. He usually prefers plain clothes in subdued, dark colours. But the people venturing out all the way to the Prism Lake will need protection in the wilderness, especially if they aren't used to fending off threats on their own! So he signs himself up as a fellow otherworlder's escort. If he gets a say they'll take the airship to the remote Winter Segment's station - arguably the most comfortable and safe way of travelling - and then journey for another couple of days on foot, crossing over into the nearby Spring Segment and passing through an area that allows them a view of the vast, eternally blooming Cherry Blossom Park in the far north.

When they eventually arrive at the lake he assumes guard duty, leaving the fabric-dying to his companion. Occasionally, however, he checks in on the progress.]

Found a good colour combination yet?

On the Wings of a Butterfly

[Given the relative proximity of the Prism Lake to the Cherry Blossom Park Hijikata journeys to the latter location after seeing the fashion designers' quest through. He's not exactly keen on getting on the back of one of the gigantic butterflies flapping their massive wings around the blooming treetops, but when someone asks him to accompany them he agrees. He wouldn't want anyone to fall off these creepy huge insects! As a butterfly lands to let them mount it he's rather hesitant, but hell, he's ridden an archaeopteryx on Avalon, surely he can manage this! So he gets on top of its hairy body and extends a hand to his quest partner.]

It'll be damn unstable with all the wind, so if you have anything to hook or wrap around my belt, let's do that!

In the Eye of a Hurricane (for [personal profile] waroftheworlds)

[Tornadoes in the (previously) safe zones of the Spring Segment trapping civilians for days on end? Not something any policeman worth his salt can just look away from! The problem is that Hijikata once again has no real plan of how to tackle the situation. Neither his swords nor his levitation ability will be helpful here, and his fire would only turn the tornado into a flaming inferno. As such he wears a steep frown on his face as he observes the raging winds from a safe distance.

When he becomes aware of a new arrival he's glad, even though the other person is a young girl. He knows better than to underestimate a kid! He nudges his head at the problem with some exasperation.]

Any ideas how to get a handle on this? I'm a bit stumped here.

Technical Move: Rain Dance

[Hijikata isn't much of a dancer, but once he hears about the danger the sirens present he feels a sense of urgency. He won't let anybody get drowned and eaten if he can help it! So he takes the airship to the Great Ocean Lake (only a total nutcase would let themselves be flung there via catapult - well, okay, or people with abilities that'll reliably brace their fall).

While other volunteers are learning the rain dance from the mermaid instructors he can be seen patrolling the underwater perimeter in cecaelia form, moving along the lake floor with his tentacles. When he sees someone being led away from the loosely organised group by what appears to be a kindly mermaid he propels himself up and swims over there (luckily he's had some practice in how to move around in this form on Avalon).]

Hey!! What do you think you're doing?

They Lava You (for [personal profile] snekeyes)

[Having lava lizards move north in the Summer Segment, gradually approaching Nightwake City, does seem like bad news, so Hijikata is setting out there to help chase them back to the Lava-Ridden Lands. This time he planned things out better and secured Rider as his companion. A winter power holder feels like the ideal partner against these enemies! It would have taken them a very long time - a week at least - to travel to the southern edge of the Jungle of Judgement if not for Pegasus, Rider's winged horse. Hijikata had to hold on to her all the way during their nightly flights to strengthen her magical energy (and to not fall off), but he made up for her high energy expense by taking care of the campfire and cooking (which he, naturally, drowned in mayonnaise) while she rested in the mornings, before they both slept during the hot days.

Eventually they start to see the changes in the landscape: Lava lakes litter the area, there's a sulfuric scent hanging in the air, and the usual fauna they encountered on the way seems absent. They decide to face the enemy during the daytime for visibility (on Hijikata's part), so after a little more rest at dawn they venture out exploring on foot. When he spots some movement by a lava pond, he touches Rider's arm.]

Rider, look-- I mean, there's some creature sitting by the edge of the lava over there. Is that one of them?

[It sure is! And it's seen them, and it's coming right at them with all the aggression and speed of a protective hippopotamus mother.]

Temple of Frustration

[Hijikata once again makes himself available to escort a less combative individual on their journey through the jungle. Of course he, too, is curious about what keeps the monsters away from the temple. He leads the way as they move through the lush humid undergrowth.]

Be careful of where you step. I don't know if they live in this jungle too, but in the Rain Jungle there are huge-ass toucans that build ground traps to catch people in.

[Don't ask him how he knows.]

Blood Bloom

[Hijikata has heard of trees, and he's heard of vampires, but the combination of both strikes him as distinctly odd. How can a tree even move fast enough to surprise a victim? Well, he's about to find out. He frowns at the innocent-looking tree standing near the Autumn Flower Yard, then turns to his companion.]

Was it there before, do you know? It's my first time visiting this Flower Yard. Maybe we should take it out, just to be on the safe side?

[He summons a flame in his hand, evidently ready to go.]

Chef Needs Maple Syrup Badly (for [personal profile] trafficsafety)

[This quest seemed harmless enough, and Kou was so eager to help, Hijikata was more than happy to accompany him. Despite everything forests are not to be underestimated in terms of how dangerous they can be, so he wouldn't want him to go without an escort! With Hijikata's police horse and chariot as a bumpy transport they were able to cut down the travel time to the northernmost reaches of the vast forest to just a couple of days, with a night of camping in between (Hijikata brought tent, sleeping bags, and provisions). It was nice to learn more about each other's worlds and backgrounds on the way, and Hijikata's impression of Kou as a kind and resourceful child only deepened.

When they finally arrive in the forest the samurai keeps a keen eye on their surroundings while Kou harvests the ready-to-eat maple syrup... provided the trees at the outskirts even offer enough.]

How's it looking? Do we have to go further in?

The Graveyard Shift (for [personal profile] dreamsofwings)

[When Eren asked if Hijikata wanted to accompany him on a quest he eagerly agreed - he wants to see what it's like to fight alongside a titan shifter! -, only to learn to his dismay that the one Eren had his eyes on was the graveyard cleaning quest. What a chore!! And why did it have to be a graveyard?! When he tried to argue that the remote location wasn't worth the long journey, given that there was no danger to anyone and the task was just a favour to the locals, Eren made a suggestion that Hijikata found hard to pass up: They could travel there using Eren's titan form.

That plan, once implemented, does cut the travel time down significantly, and while Hijikata at first finds it disconcerting to be carried by such an enormous being (all the more since he only met Eren recently - but he's Jean's friend, so he deems him trustworthy!) he gets used to it after a while. Despite Eren's speed and endurance as a titan it still takes them a few days to get to the graveyard, so Hijikata makes up for the transport by taking care of the camp and provisions each night (... hopefully Eren likes mayonnaise). When they finally arrive at the graveyard Hijikata is somewhat relieved at how normal it looks, but the Autumn Segment has its own eerie atmosphere with its whispering wind and rustling leaves. While all the stories he got to exchange with Eren on the way were worth the trip already he doesn't care for cleaning in the best of circumstances, so he's not exactly burning to get on the task!]

Ah... how about you get started, and I set up the camp in the meantime?
