NEW YEAR'S CONCERT/PARTY MINGLE OTA
WHO: Everyone! Members of the Music Club who want to perform, everyone else who volunteered their services for the party, and anyone who wants to see them or just party for New Year's.
WHAT: The Music Club End-of-Year Live and New Year's Party
WHEN: Night of December 31
WHERE: Sunwaning Theatre
WARNINGS: None so far
After the ad had gone out, Rinku got to work organizing. She worked things out with the Sunwaning Theatre and booked both a concert hall and a meeting hall, got a permit from the city for fireworks, and got food and games sorted. Hey, maybe Eve had been right when she told her to pursue a career in party planning. Rinku would think about that later.
When people started arriving from 6 to 7 was the dinner and games. Guests would be directed to one of the theatre's meeting halls, where the performers would also be able to mingle around and eat. Food tables were there to sit down at, serving end-of-year Sunwaning standards like shrimp, fried fish, pickled lotus root, and plenty of mochi and candied chestnuts. The theatre's catering staff put a lot of work in!
Once the meal was finished, there was an array of games to go around and play. Some may be familiar from other parties and concert after/pre-parties, such as ring toss and Pin the Tail on the Human (the human has been reprinted after a few too many parties), but one stood out as new: the scavenger hunt! A selection of items were hidden around the meeting hall for people to mark down the locations of; some were easy, like a big ribbon tied to one of the tables, but others took more thought, like a cheki from a Riki concert sticking out of the frame of a painting on the wall. Everyone got candy who won one of the games before the time came to file out of the meeting hall and up into the theatre.
The concert ran later in the night, featuring the assorted talents of the Music Club both together and separately. From live remix covers to acoustic instrument solos to whatever Stelle was doing with that otamatone, everyone who wanted to was there with one goal: keeping the audience hyped to celebrate the new year. A giant disco ball hung over the audience, scattering the stage lights around. At the end of the night, the talents on the stage counted down to midnight, and the disco ball broke open and scattered paper confetti onto the audience as the cheer began.
Finally, as everyone filed outside at the end of the show, there was one more performance: a firework show, contracted out to Wylan. The colourful fireworks lit up the sky over Sunwaning for everyone to watch as they headed back to their homes (or other parties, or wherever else they wanted to go).

THE CONCERT
If your character isn't yet involved with the Music Club and you want them to participate, we can handwave that so you can put them in here. Membership is always open and flexible.)

When she's guesting on other people's songs, and at the big full-club number at the end, there's a feeling throughout the crowd encouraging everyone to feel more excited for the new year. Huh, maybe it's just the atmosphere?]

She decides to play a few songs, those of which may have some vocals going along with it.
She starts off with Moon Halo, followed by If I Can Stop One Heart from Breaking.
For the finale of her section, Stelle magically pulls out her hat, placing it on her head and starts to dance even as she plays her last song, WHITE NIGHT on her otamatone. She's plenty skilled, hilariously enough, being able to dance rather well with the beat while playing the silly instrument. ]

He's borrowed the moon (so to speak!), and winter's light refracts in twos, threes, illuminates others in fogs of white and waves of frost-clouds and diamond dusts; the mirrored ball sparkling overhead, back towards others to highlight the group. Twists of ice trim the stage, and he moves small geysers to rise and fall, shapeshifts sculptures to mirror each beat, rhythm, alternate elements colored in light and moved in little, lively patterned jumps. He doesn't sing, but there's his effort to "hype the crowd", to lend his best however much in all the ways he's promised to do.
To be reserved, he's playing his heart out...!]

Happy New Year! You guys are all doing great at these! How's the party?
[It's a wonder she manages time to eat, but she does, with a plate piled high that she's inhaling in between conversation with others at the same table.]
How do you like the food? Is there anything we missed? [monch]
[Rinku's on all cylinders during the concert, so afterwards, outside during the fireworks, she stands around outside the theatre and just watches them go. Even she gets tired sometimes, though she's smiling even so.]
I hope this year's a lot happier... No, it's definitely gonna be!

[Sadness was at least familiar with games - she was the one in charge of handling losses back home, after all. Still, these seemed like fun little games to try.
Unfortunately, standing at a mere two feet tall, she would find it a bit difficult to pin the tail on the human, and she certainly didn't have the strength to ring toss - and though she clapped and cheered for those who got it, it was clear she was feeling a little down about her inability to participate as well. She had her sweater pulled up over part of her face so her frown wasn't very evident, but her eyes betrayed all.]
Ohh... I wish I was better at these... [She murmured to herself as she tried to stay out of the way.]
[Fireworks Show]
[At the end of the night, the fireworks show was sure to bring a smile to her face, no matter what happened. She went to a party! She might have made a friend or two! Joy would be so proud of her.
She stood near the building, watching the show with her hands clasped in front of her, trying not to cry at how beautiful it looked.]
I'll do my best... without you all here... that's my New Years promise. [She said to no-one, as if she was trying to keep herself cheered up.]
games
[Rinku smiles and waves, running over to Sadness and humming.]
Were you playing the games? Do you need any help with anything?
no subject
I was, yeah... I just... [There's a small pause, before she admits:] I'm too short to play.

Ah - miss Sadness, yes? We spoke briefly on the network some time ago.
[Sadness is a fairly memorable figure, so even though it's been some time, Kantera recognizes her.]

[Pin the tail on the human continues to be fun, but the scavenger hunt catches Kantera's attention. He puzzles over the list.]
...Should I ask Rinku what a 'cheki' is, or is that part of the challenge?
[what on earth is an otamatone]
I have never heard that instrument Stelle used before. It... certainly is something, wouldn't you say?
[She was surprisingly good with it, but also, what.]
[fireworks]
[Kantera has a fond smile as he watches the fireworks go off.]
Wylan truly outdid himself with these. I'm glad I recommended him to Rinku.
dinner
[Speaking of whom. Rinku pops up with a wave and a bag of candy in her other hand, completely clueless as to his plight.]
Are you doing the scavenger hunt? I hope I got enough things for everyone to find.

At dinner, anyone at his table will of course be offered mayonnaise! Being familiar with Sunwaning's cuisine, he loads his plate with favourites and is clearly happy as a clam. Afterwards, he participates in the scavenger hunt (how could he not; it's a challenge!) and works together with others to find all the hidden items. When he eventually does win some candy, he stashes is away for his mentee.
Of course, the concert is the highlight of the evening! Any talents on stage will hear him cheer and clap for them (after his experience in the D4DJ simulation, he knows what it's like to perform in front of an audience!) He'll happily douse them in praise afterwards, too.
At midnight, he cheers and toasts to everyone around him, then files out along with the others to watch the fireworks. If anyone is visibly cold nearby, he may just be a gentleman and spare them some of his summer heat. They'll just have to stand quite close to him.]

Do you like the food? I thought they had really great options here at the performance hall!

[Doesn't everything taste like mayonnaise to him... but, well, he's happy!]
You look like an idol again tonight, Rinku-chan. I think Shoto-kun's trying to send me down the same track with how many clothes he keeps gifting me.
[Granted, Shoto's choices are all mature with a focus on quality, but he feels really spoiled for choice regardless!]

And, speaking of nostalgia, it's funny how the last time she saw fireworks was also the first time she wore this dress...
She spies Hijikata almost by accident, not immediately recognizing him in the ensemble he's wearing, and maybe she's being selfish in the way she hurries over to him, happy to put her worries behind her for now—but it's nice to see a familiar face nonetheless. ]
You're here too! [ she greets him with a smile, a lift of her hand in a small wave. ] Happy New Year, Hijikata!

Happy new year, Rinoa. If you don't mind, let me stand behind you.
[He'll both warm her back and shield her from the wind than way. He saw her make her own flame, but even if she's made it this far through the local elemental magic learning cycle, he knows that all other types of magic - including temperature control - are locked to their season.]
How have you been?

At dinner, she's not entirely sure what all the meal options are, but she doesn't let that stop her from sampling many things. Variety is the spice of life, after all! She praises everything, delighted with the experience. Afterwards, she'll play any game that's suggested to her. If she wins any candy, she'll enjoy that, too!
Seeing people she knows perform at the concert makes it a truly special experience. So many here are so talented! When it's time for the countdown, she cheers along with everyone else, but turns pensive right afterwards. It's been a whole year - a year of new worlds, new people, new perspectives. She's never have imagined that her life could change so much, resigned as she was to her duty and her fate.
When the fireworks fill the sky, she gets very emotional, even dabbing at her eyes. If only Historia were still here with her! Much as she cherishes the kind people around her, she still misses her sister dearly.]

[Straight after his surprise performance, Ren looks for Kitsuno. Once he sees her in the crowd, he gets on one knee and extends his hand towards her.]
My princess. I have returned to you.
OTA
[After having a long, long reunion with Kitsuno (that would continue after the party), Ren is also available to meet all his other friends who are present at the party. He's mostly chatting and eating any spicy food and just having fun, enjoying the fact he's back.
Come midnight though, Ren disappears back to Kitsuno to celebrate new year in peace.]

[Rinku had him added onto the program, of course, but seeing him in person, she absolutely lights up. She runs over in between checking on partygoers and picking up her tired Pokémon from the kids' area, so she's got a Sobble and a Zubat sleeping in her arms.
Ren will also notice that Rinku looks a little different now. She's got thin scars across her face, spreading out like a cracked plate, and her eyes are permanently sparkling. But hey, these things happen.]
We missed you so much! You did amazing!

I once again apologise for Eva
What the fuck...? It can't be.
[Sitting up, glancing to the drink- no, it wasn't that- and she grabbed her coat to dash out the door.
Just in time as well, as she was able to catch his performance. So he really was back, she wasn't imagining it... and once he was done talking to Kitsuno, she finally spotted him and could storm over.]
Ren...! When the Hell were you planning on telling me you came back!?
[She didn't look significantly different to when he'd seen her last - maybe an extra cat scratch or two on her arms. Still, he'd helped her out when she had been dealing with her grief... so perhaps he'd be less alarmed by the outburst than most.
Eva had missed him.]
