Part 1

The next mission is announced at the start of the week. The Autumn Guild Leader, Sawyer, posts a message that reaches everyone's phone:

"To especially those not afraid of the dark or being underground: it's time to go to the Crystal Mines. Those who come along will receive 50 000 Moon Coins as a reward and as many crystals as they want. Those who don't want to go can help with preparations and still receive monetary compensation, even if less (10 000 Moon Coins). Mission starts on the 18th, while major preparations are focused on from the 15th onwards.
- Sawyer"

Attached to the message is a list of things people can help with: food & medical supplies, mining equipment & armor enhancing and working on enchanted, protective masks. The masks are meant to protect everyone going into the mine from possible magical poisons that might become an issue. Tools have been given to make the masks and enchant them. All of these preparations are made through the whole week, but especially during the weekend.

Part 2

Those who wish more of an action role in preparations are once again asked to deliver a teleport crystal to the site and prepare the camping area with barrier stones. Dragons will gladly lend their fast travel services. Meanwhile, anyone who has made friends with one of the flower fairy dogs will learn that they can teleport once a day to a desired location, as long as it's within the same segment (and as long as they receive plenty of pets and ear scritches before and after).

The area around the Crystal Mines is currently the territory of monsters called zweig. They're basically humanoid looking monsters who have been made out of dead branches. As long as there are dead branches around they can form themselves over and over again. They also use these very sharp branches to attack anyone invading their territory and their screams can temporarily paralyze those who hear it, giving them time to dive in to attack. Fire does work well on them, but they're also clever enough to dive into puddles and make themselves as moist as possible to avoid getting burned.

Once they notice the barrier stones their primary goal will be to toss those away or break them. Apparently zweigs hate stones and rocks that emit magical energy and want to get rid of them as soon as possible.

Part 3

The library in Amberfall is also attempting to help with the preparations. Keyword being in attempting, as the local library fairies are currently fighting over which books to take to the Fairy Kingdom and which should be kept where they were. So the library is literally a mess.

Those who visit the library (either asked by the guild to fetch relevant books or for any other reason) will be caught in a magical war. Library fairies use the power of the books to give inspiration to their spells. Getting hit by fairy magic will have several different effects:

• Changing their clothes to fit the theme of a book
• Turning someone into a walking, talking book
• Trapping people into a prison made out of books
• Trapping people into a book (to live the story, whatever part of the story - pray it's not a picture book of volcanoes)
• Making someone speak like a book does (different accent, language or just more dramatic)
• Giving someone wings that start taking them to a different place (meant for books to transfer them automatically). The same magic can also randomly try and sort people into bookshelves - and even make them tinier to make it happen
• Random animal ears and tails
• Giant beard (no matter the gender), very similar to dwarves
• Devil horns, tail and little wings

All of the effects wear off usually by the end of the day (but usually sooner, in a few hours). None of the effects are lethal, but they can cause some manner of injuries. Most of the effects can be reversed by getting hit by fairy magic again, as two different magics cancel each other out.

Occasionally some of the magic also gets past the front door and into the Amberfall district.

They're Taking the Otherworlders to Mine-rinth

Part 1

The entrance to the Crystal Mines isn't sealed by anything, but any of the natives helpers advise to wait for Sawyer to appear before entering the place. They will not, however, stop anyone from wandering in. However those who go in can't come back out or warn anyone about it.

As soon as people enter the mines, all devices stop connecting to the internet. Something is jamming the signal, making communication impossible. Another thing that happens is that all magical powers are nullified, both seasonal ones and otherwordly ones. It does seem most magical items work, however (the ones that don't are any that would deal actual magical damage).

The mines themselves are dark, but the crystals and gemstones in the walls shine with bright enough light to see. The halls are big and completely made out of stone and there's a pathway leading deeper. There's a partially broken down railing stopping anyone from falling, but the pathway is wide enough so there shouldn't be too big of a risk.

Those who decide to walk deeper instead of waiting around will risk getting kidnapped by a skeleton. The skeletons always pick two at the same time, whoever are the closest by, and drag them down into the pit in the middle. If the skeletons think they're in dangers of getting caught or destroyed they will cut their arms off and flee.

Part 2

Even once Sawyer joins the expedition, the situation in the mine doesn't change for the better. Even his powers are nullified, which makes him mad, punching the wall. This seems to open a weird, out of place digital panel. Through this, Sawyer barely manages to send a SOS message outside, warning that something is wrong.

Instead of sitting around, he will arms himself with his weapon of choice: a set of two chakrams. He will lead a group to find those that were kidnapped and fight off more of the skeletons trying to capture more people as they venture down. Finding the others is a priority now and he encourages anyone confident in their weapon skills to follow.

Those who remain at the entrance may investigate the panel more to discover strange games are going on the screen on autoplay. They might see familiar people running through different hallways, but sadly they're unable to really do anything without a proper keyboard.

They can, however, try finding other ways out from the main floor. It's hard to see, but there are tunnels here (dwarf sized). Anyone who can fit through there is free to explore places and possibly find something along the way.

Part 3

The skeletons will take those they've captured into various tunnels deeper inside the mine. Once far enough in the tunnels they will use ropes to tie people together. Some suck at their job and may leave the ropes a little too loose, but once they're done they will leave to find more victims.

Luckily, there's plenty of sharp rocks lying around that can be used to cut the ropes. It's getting out of the tunnels that will be more difficult. The tunnels are like a maze that seems to be moving. See that entrance? Soon a block of rock is covering it. Instead another tunnel is open that wasn't before. Some of the tunnels are even hiding items someone might have dropped while being kidnapped.

Some of the tunnels hide skeletons that are patrolling the area for anyone who might attempt to escape (and will attack people they see out and about), traps that activate when stepped on (such as a pit full of tar that's almost impossible to get out of) and magical gas that starts traveling freely when a rock is moved from its way. This special gas saps away touch energy, so holding onto someone's hand will help with it. The masks made and given before coming to the mines will help combat the effects - if someone didn't get theirs stolen by the skeletons (who will wear them on their head just for fun).

It might take a while to get out. There are rooms that are safe from the moving of the labyrinth; these are the houses of the dwarves that lived there. They can be barricaded from possible skeleton attacks and used to take a break from the madness. There are also canned beans that still haven't expired and some very, very old wine. The beds are extremely small, but at least the blankets seem regular sized.


(OOC note: The paths change because someone is playing the Labyrinth game on a computer somewhere remotely. Until people start playing against the person (in Section 3: Prompt 1), the results are usually unfavorable.)

Part 1

Sawyer's SOS message arrives. The group still stationed at the entrance start to look for clues and eventually finds even more panels similar to the one inside. An emergency text message goes out to every device;

"Anyone who's good with technology - especially with coding and hacking - please come and help us; we have an emergency at the Crystal Mines."

Research Center staff manages to connect some computers into the panels. Those who came over to help will be asked to look into the coding and take control of the programs inside the panels to best of their ability. The code is complex and whoever is behind it is fighting back whoever tries to access the codes.

Fortunately, one of the programs that's easy to access is the Labyrinth game. Remaining people are encouraged to face whoever is playing the game in a match. The goal is to help the two people they see to advance through the labyrinth and avoid any hostile skeletons by moving walls into different places. This will also help distract the program owner and make it easier for the hackers to work.

This Labyrinth game is, indeed, connected to the actual mazes the kidnapped people are stuck in, so playing the game will also help them.

Taking over the programs lets them shut down one named "Mine Trap.exe", which lets anyone who was stuck inside to finally get out... and power to return. There may also be various other discoveries.

Part 2

Sawyer and anyone following him make it through to the floors where the hostages were taken to. There they will find even more skeletons to fight. Luckily, they're not very good fighters, but there are a lot of them. It's their intent to try and overwhelm the group with their numbers.

Eventually, however, everyone can feel their powers suddenly returning. Sawyer takes full advantage of this by trapping most of the skeletons into a cage made of earth and stone. The fight is far from over, but these skeletons are very weak to elemental magic so defeating them is a lot easier now.

The tunnels stop acting like a game as well, letting anyone who was stuck in them to easily find their way out - or at least let anyone go find them, if they can't get out on their own.

Once the rest of the skeletons are either defeated or captured, Sawyer advices that they should go back and rest. Whoever set the trap clearly knew to wait for them, so they have investigations to do. Before they find how they knew they'd be coming here the actual mission is put on halt.

Part 3

Outside there's a chance to rest and heal before heading back to the city. Those who still want to stay and explore or mine can of course do that, as the problem of powers not working has been solved.

There's still the mystery of how the digital panels have been placed here and why, too. Their expedition really gave them more questions than answers this time.

Sawyer stays for a while to see that everyone is doing alright before heading back to the city, so he can report what happened and start some very serious investigations.

[A mission to the crystal mines, with a 50,000 Moon Coins reward again? Hijikata is ready! After ensuring that all his gear and weapons are enhanced to the maximum and equipped with as many status effects and extras as he can muster, he's ready to join the vanguard.

As during the expedition to the fairy kingdom, the volunteers make a speedy journey on the dragons' back and waste no time in setting up Barrier Stones... only this time around, someone seems to object to their activities. He briefly attempts diplomacy with a pair of zweigs, and they do retreat without a fuss, but as soon as his back is turned, they sneakily return, utilising their natural camouflage. As the barrier suddenly goes down, Hijikata's head snaps around, and he catches the wooden creatures red-handed as they try to carry the Barrier Stone off.]

Oh?! I see you didn't get it the first time!

[He unleashes a hefty fire attack, however the zweigs had the foresight to soak up as much water as they could before their return, hence they're able to run rather than going up in flames. Hijikata, less than impressed, draws one of his longswords and swings it in a horizontal semi-circle where he stands... and the wooden enemies falls down in halves, thanks to his weapon's special property.]

These twiggy shits, I swear..!! We don't need this kind of hassle!

2) They're Taking the Otherworlders to Mine-rinth

[When it turns out that the mines not only nix everybody's powers upon entry, but are also teeming with skeletons, Hijikata joins the combatants around Sawyer without hesitation. He may have come to rely on his seasonal magic a lot, but he's far from helpless without it! As he hacks and slashes his way through the bony adversaries, he interrupts an abduction attempt, and the undead would-be kidnappers find themselves accosted by an angry samurai whose Magical Mask bears a snarling oni mouth design.]

Hey!! What the hell is the idea here, huh? What do you skeletons need living people for?

[Chances are he won't get an answer from the skeletons, but their would-be victim may have a theory to contribute!]

[Eventually, the fighters make their way into the cave where most of the captives have been tied up. If you're one of the unlucky souls, congratulations: Your "demonic" knight is here! Sadly, he isn't very gallant...]

[In fairness, there is a crapload of skeletons to deal with, and everyone is still without their magic and other superhuman powers!]

[Rinku's already wreathed her sword in flame, but the tree creatures approaching are dripping muddy water. She flings fireballs their way anyway, and they just fizzle out.]

[Even without her magic, Mukuro was not too worried- her combat prowess was still in tact, as was her weaponry. Although, she couldn't help but notice that she wasn't able to use the terrain the way she used to... had she gotten accustomed to using her Seasonal earth powers the way she'd adapted to using her Avalonian Blood magic to enchant her bullets? She hadn't realised, until it disappeared. Come to think of it, she did miss her old magic, and the bond she'd had with her familiar, Fenrir-

Of course, the other point of adjustment was fighting without her left hand- keeping her arm close to her to shield the healed stump. That only exacerbated that itchy feeling in her mind that the way she fought just felt off right now.]

More hostiles at 5 o'clock!

[Just what they needed, more skeletons rushing at them from behind! Mukuro whipped around to slash at the ones behind her with her dagger- They weren't getting overwhelmed yet, but the undead were not happy with these two disrupting their kidnapping plans.]

[There's a group of zweigs approaching Hijikata from another direction that he may or may not be aware of. Yogi isn't sure, but he will stop them.

He readies his double epees.]

[Thorny vines sprout from the epees, wrapping themselves around the zweigs and stopping them where they stood in the form of a cage.]

Yes, yes, but as you can see, I lack a weapon. Give me a moment.

[The little lady is going to rummage around the area a bit while Hijikata took on the skellies. Sorry, but while she was strong, she needed some kind of protection for her hands. With her magic gone, all she had was the aether in her body and her fists.

She exclaimed a bit in excitment, a little, "a-ha!" before she was running toward an advancing skeleton at Hijikata's back with two tarnished tea kettles in each hand.

A loud CLANG and it was in pieces on the ground. She danced on her toes with a proud look on her face.]

Yes, these will do quite nicely.

Frieda Reiss | Attack on Titan | Spring

[Given how the expedition to the fairy kingdom went, Frieda is apprehensive about going to the crystal mines - not least because the confinement of underground caverns and passages may well render her incapable of transforming into her Founding Titan. She'll have to rely on her magic!

Regardless of her concerns, she ultimately does decide to participate. After all, she has gotten better at even offensive wind magic, which was a big hurdle for her - and the others may well need her light- and healing magic. Daunting as the task may be, every otherworlder makes a difference in saving this world, don't they?

Before the expedition can take off, however, participations need to be made. Frieda patiently brews and bottles healing potions and hands them out to anyone in need of them.]

Please, take at least one. Do you need to get anything enhanced?

[She's gotten decently good at that, too! She'll prepare any kind of gear except for weapons (her vow of non-violence does get in the way of that more often than not, much as she tried to justify and rationalise it).]

[Once the main expedition led by Sawyer joins he vanguard and enters the mines, they find themselves ambushed by skeletons - and their seasonal powers and even native superhuman abilities are gone! Finding herself grabbed by bony hands, Frieda struggles much harder than she would have just under a year ago.]

No!! Let go!

[She couldn't transform into a titan even if there were enough space, and the sudden limitation to regular human capabilities is terrifying. Has she really gotten this used to wielding her powers?]

[Despite everyone's best efforts, the group eventually gets overwhelmed by the sheer number of skeletons. While the brunt of them engage the fighters, a number of non-combatants - Frieda included - get dragged off by their peers.

The descent into the bowels of the mines feels endless, but eventually, she finds herself tied up with a fellow otherworlder. Despite the abduction by the undead being objectively frightful, she's keeping her wits together quite well - perhaps because so far, no one seems to have been harmed beyond scratches sustained in their resistance efforts.]

What do you think they want us for?

[She heard horrifying stories about undead warlocks that pull people's skeletons from their body to use as their underlings! Is that what's going on here?]

[Rinku is off on the expedition -- and this time she doesn't have to go on foot! She's summoned a huge flower fairy dog, a komondor to be specific, so it looks like a string mop covered in flowers with wings on the back. Rinku will wave if you approach and smile.]

Hey, do you want to come with me? Mop-chan can just teleport us out there! Isn't that cool?

[Rinku's short enough that she can explore the tunnels... and she shuffles out of one, carrying some jewels, mining equipment, and... beard-grooming supplies.]

Kinda reminds me of holiday shopping last year... maybe I should get some people things like these? Wait, not a lot of people have facial hair, do they?

[Rinku's confident in her weapon skills, sure, but she relies a lot more on her magic, so she ended up trailing behind after raiding the tunnels... but now she can go all out. She knocks off a skeleton's head with her flaming sword and throws fireballs at another skeleton, looking around the fight quickly.]

Let's clear these guys out!

[Wendy is, frankly, a perfect match for this situation. Her status healing magic prevents herself and others from being paralyzed, her wind magic is sharp enough to slice the zweigs apart, and her Autumn earth magic serves as a nice distraction for beings that hate magic stones. Anyone who needs help might find themselves being aided by her divebombing the fight.]

[Inside the maze, on the other hand, is a different story. Here she's a perfectly normal, if more fit than average, teenage girl. Someone exploring might come across a suspiciously Wendy shaped statue next to a vent, a nearby skeleton wearing a pilfered gas mask.]

[With someone having saved Wendy from her petrification, she does manage to make it to the end. When the suppression field lifts, there's a heavy feeling of power radiating from her as her hair turns pink and winds start whipping around her.]

It's over now. I control this space!

[She vanishes from sight, only to reappear in front of a group of skeletons and utterly demolish them with a single kick. Pillars of stone rise from the ground in bursts, their spiked tips smashing skulls and snapping bones.

Sky Dragon's Roar!

[A cyclone bursts from her mouth and tears into the enemy ranks, and the stone itself along with them. If she keeps going at this pace, she's going to bring the whole place down on them!]

Okay, what colours do you want?? I've got yellow and green ones, and red and blue and purple ones, but I can do other colours too~

[Mary had a batch of plain white masks that she'd been trying to enchant- along with a number of different buckets of dye and elastic bands set out ready to colour them. A handful of tie-dyed masks were already hanging out to dry, and she was clearly excited to make some more for whoever wanted them!]

[It became apparent soon enough that all her messages sent to her loved ones who went away had gone unanswered- usually, the chatty messages asking how it was going, whether they'd found anything shiny or scary monsters, or if they had any cool photos got answered eventually!

But nothing. And now Sawyer had sent around his SOS, she was starting to get frightened.

What had happened to them?? Were they hurt??

The small child was starting to shake wherever she'd stopped to read the message- shadow like a crayon-scribble moving erratically as she yelled at her device.]

Hey- you're not allowed to get hurt...!

[ooc: Alternatively, anyone she knows who's still in the city may have her turn up to bother them for company.]

Ah- this is- ...stop this.

[And there goes a displeased Rider, floating past the nearest bookshelf carried by a pair of golden wings- frowning lightly at the whole situation! For the time being she could grab onto something to stop herself flying away, but that wouldn't last long.

Once she heard that research was needed for the mission, she had made her way to the library to find out what she could, only to get caught up in those pesky fairy curses being thrown around.

...She might need a little help, here.]

They're Taking the Otherworlders to Isengard Mine-rinth

[Once the SOS was sent out, Rider quickly went in to try and help the people within the mines, a simple black mask covering her nose and mouth (and fogging up her glasses like nothing else in the process!)]

...I can fight well enough without my sight, but this is still a little irritating. Shall we deal with them?

[She turned her attention to the skeletons, then.]

I will not be gentle with you.

[Still... it soon became apparent that all her powers had disappeared. She was human. Nevertheless, she still had agility and strength behind her, so kicking them down wouldn't prove too difficult!]

Interlude: Being human

...So even I am human here, it seems. I wonder if that will change, once we resolve whatever is happening here?

I suppose that is for the best, but... still...

[Rider was taking a short rest in one of the safe areas, using the chance to clean up any injuries she'd taken and have a drink of water. Her stamina wasn't what it was without her abilities as a Servant, so she had to pace herself.

Still, now that the immediate combat had settled, it gave her time to think about her current situation. And, the fact that however close she'd gotten to accepting Gorgon, she didn't hate that Athena's curse had been removed from her body... even if this was temporary.]

Are you injured? Stay behind me, I will protect you.

[Rider was quick to rush in and help the hostages, moving to get as many people out of danger as she could. Even without her powers, so long as she could still give them time to get out, that was enough...!

She crouched down by the nearest person to assess their injuries, and cut away the ropes with a piece of sharp rock she'd found.

If they were hurt, she'd probably have to carry them to safety herself, but that was fine- for now, she moved into a crouch, and readied herself to protect the latest person she'd rescued.

Hopefully her presence would be a reassurance!]

Interlude: Being human

[Hijikata is taking the opportunity to smoke - yes, he shouldn't be doing it in a relatively enclosed space, but he needs his nicotine! At his Servant's remark, he lets out a hum. [Naturally, Caster wanted to head into the mines- she'd been meaning to explore them properly for some time, and getting paid to do so was even better! Her own mask- depicting a blue, fiery design- was ready too.

But what she hadn't expected was for all of her magic to fail her as soon as she'd made her way inside, leading to her suddenly falling out the air and faceplanting quite spectacularly on the stone ground.]

[Of course, without any of her magic or powers as a Servant, and all the physical strength and endurance of a typical mage, she was an easy target for the kidnapping skeletons! And soon enough, she'd ended up taken deep into the mines. She'd been untied, now, but Jean had already gotten hurt protecting her... so she was being far more careful to stay out the way. Nevertheless, she was keeping her eyes open for anyone else down here whilst she hunted for medicinal supplies.]

Even if it was the full moon weekend, Jean was helping out with the preparations. He just happened to snack on beef jerky quite a lot whilst doing so. It didn't completely take away the meat craving, but it helped enough to keep him focused as he worked on helping to enhance the armor brought to the guild.

Of course he could just turn on the Summer ability of hyperfocusing if he started to get too distracted, but he wanted to leave that as a last resort.

With the current armor enhanced, Jean decided it was time for a longer break and found himself a nice spot to sit in and bite into more of the beef jerky. Technically he could go eat something proper and then get back to doing this.

Though if he went out to eat he might just stay on that road without supervision.

Suddenly he just whines. Much like a disappointed puppy would. Don't mind him.


Outside the Mines

Jean isn't in the first possible group (full moon weekend, no way he was going on a mission again during it), but he is there before Sawyer arrives. Mostly to help with the remaining enemies.

It's clear fire isn't the best solution, but you know what helps? Lava. So he opens a pool of lava under a group of zweig. They're not wet enough to resist that. He keeps it in a contained area so it doesn't cause problems.

"We might have to destroy any branches around here. Just in case."

At the beginning

It's been an alarming long time since Jean has last felt like regular human. Powers had been a constant in all of the worlds he had been in. It's a weird feeling even if he was originally just a human with no superpowers.

"This feels so wrong", he sighs.

At least he still had his gear, so he wasn't completely out of fighting options at least.

"You alright?" he asks the closest person.

So much for his fighting ability with his weapons when skeletons just pick you up with ease. It was honestly really embarrassing. Even his gear had been taken (well, all except the straps so they weren't very good for skeletons to use at least). Luckily he still had the mask tucked away under his jacket and his jewelry still stayed in place, but anything else he had on him? Somewhere. He'd get them back. Somehow.

... once they get out of the ropes. By they he meant himself and Caster, who had the same bad luck as he did. At least the ropes didn't seem to be too well tied, so he was already working on getting them off (it was all thanks to his training with Riou in Avalon, probably).

It would be her first time out the City proper since her injury... so she couldn't help but stick close to her brother, especially as she hadn't firmly decided what she wanted to do about her missing hand just yet.

But the restlessness was getting the better of her, and she needed to get out. Both for her own sanity, and to reassure herself that she could still fight-

The zweig groups were persistent, but so far not too taxing on her abilities. As Jean took care of the larger group, she used her Earth magic to jolt any stragglers into the rapidly forming lava-pit.]

...That would stop them getting back up, so long as we don't need to set up camp.

And just like that, Archer has been rendered into a normal human. Last time he was just a human was probably when he was a kid and even then his life was nowhere near normal. In theory, Servants just disappear from existence if all abilities are nulled, but perhaps this place just ignored that particular rule.

He has no way to summon his weapons, no supernatural sight. At least his physical strenght was mostly his own.

As was his aiming skills, as he throws a rock directly at a skeletons forehead, dislocating its head.

"With or without swords, I'm not going down without a fight."

Once he's been armed with a sword (thank you, Hijikata), his fighting becomes easier. Usually he uses two, but he's good with just one, too.

His fighting does come to a halt as he needs to find Rin from the mazes. Skeletons got her when he couldn't protect her properly. Stupid boneheads.

It's completely possible to run into him at the mazes that he's willingly tossed himself into to search for her.

A gently teasing tone crept into her voice.]

… I did not think I would see you resort to throwing rocks.

[Rider, too, didn’t have her usual weapons with her- but even as a human she had great strength and endurance to work with.]

[Meteion had barely gotten the lay of the land of Ellipsa when she found herself in an all-out war in the library. After hearing about it from Kantera, she was curious to check it out herself. With little time to wonder what was going on, she did her best to avoid the flying books before eventually getting hit by one. The next thing she knew, she found herself falling down a massive hole with various objects floating around, defying gravity. At the end of the hole, her dress -- which had changed yet again on her in the process -- managed to break her fall as she found herself in a room filled with many small doors spread around. Getting back on her feet, she looked around, calling out to anyone who might be nearby.]

Hello? Is anybody there? [And then a moment later] Where... am I?

[Feel free to have fallen in with her (somehow) or... I don't know. Eitehr way, she's going to need some help.]

[It wasn't necessarily the moon coins that caught her attention, so much as the curiosity of exploring that encouraged Meteion to check out the Crystal Mines. Having received a protective mask before heading in, she made her way into the cave, unaware that her phone was not working as intended. She didn't even consider the idea when she barely knew how to use it yet.

But she really should have heeded the advice that she had clearly missed to wait because a moment later, she found herself being constrained by... a skeleton? Unable to break free, she tried another method. Maybe she could slip away as a bir-- nope. Her powers appeared to not be functional right now. That was an oversight if she ever saw one. Once she had been left in the middle of a pit, she looked around to see if anyone else was around.]

Are you okay?

[She was bound by ropes, but her first instinct was to check on the other person nearby. Meanwhile, she was looking for a way to break free. Any options left to them to escape captivity. After all, their captors left them alone to their own devices. Surely they could have thought that out better.]

Great Escape;

[After breaking free using the rocks lying around, she was finally free to move around, along with her companion. Traversing the cave should have been easy enough, but she soon came to realize that it was a lot more complicated than she thought it would be.]

Which direction should we take now? To the right?

[And then she realized something.]

Thankfully, Ed's automail arm wasn't that easy to take off. Otherwise the skeletons who kidnapped him (while Ed was yelling at them about how they can't treat him like a small sack of potatoes) probably would have taken that, too. Not that he could use alchemy anyway, but having two arms would still be easier for escaping wherever they were.

(And Winry would have killed him if she found out skeletons took his arm and dragged it around. Who knows what damage it would have gotten.)

Once the powers have returned, Ed is smacking skeletons with both the blade in his hand, some small scale alchemy (so he doesn't cause damage to the mine and make it collapse or something) and fire magic. He's looking for people who had also been kidnapped, now that he's capable.

Albedo had worn himself out working in groups lately, but he still keeps finding himself offering aid to others when they need it. Apparently it's a part of him he can't seem to escape. He always offers help where it's needed, perhaps it's the part of him that's a Knight of Favonious.

When he sees Edward do what he does - he realizes he has a dozen questions about the hows and whats - for after they've managed to scatter enough zweigs where they won't be a nuisance.

Fortunately, he has a good grasp on his magic from this place and his Vision. The Vision glows, attached to his shirt - settling just underneath the diamond scar on his throat. He's serious as ever.

"We can keep burying them."

He pulls some ground out from underneath them, making pillars that he'll just throw on top of them. He's pulling from both his seasonal magic and his Geo abilities from home.

"But I can also get us above them and attack from up high." It's a geo construct he can do, and he's not sure if the other will trust it, but he's offering. He also doesn't fully know the logistics of Edward's abilities.

[Someone just so happens to ask her to fetch a few books from the library and so she will be hit with any fairy magic effects there, while she's looking for those books all over the library.]

🐉 ARRIVAL

[ 50 000 Moon Coins? Yes, please and thank you because, you know, raising three dragons all the way from tiny babies takes a lot of money among many other things.

Daenerys arrives by riding on one of the native dragons. Her baby dragons are there with her too because they demanded decided to come along with her and they're not even chained or caged or anything - she lets those three enjoy their freedom all the time because she doesn't have to limit it here in any way. The young woman dismounts her local dragon easily as if it's the most natural thing to do, watching her three baby dragons like they can either find their own way down from there or she could help them. The black and red one decides to fly down on his own, and Daenerys watches him go with a proud smile on her face, and the other two get a soft smile when they choose to jump down on Daenerys and let her put them on the ground after cuddling a little.

She pets the local dragon and thanks him for the ride with a gentle, soft voice. He's not going anywhere though as if he's going to wait for her return right here to fly her back to wherever the queen / mother of dragons wants to go after this mission. ]

🔥🐲 ZWEIG

[When the first zweig, that she sees, tries to attack Daenerys or anywhere near her... She and at least one of her dragons look at each other before she looks at the weird, branch monster again.]

Dracarys.

[She sounds ice cold this time. Instead of any fire happening, the dragons only get a tiny smoke cloud out first but they instantly try again and this time they burn the zweig to ashes. Baby dragons use flamethrowers, it's super effective! Though they may dislike it a bit because what do you mean there's nothing left of this shit after they hit it with their attack?

They will attack any other zweig too and they won't even need Daenerys to say that word again to do that. So, anyone anywhere around here may be rescued from them by the three baby dragons -- you're welcome.

And once they'll notice the zweigs tactics to jump into those puddles? At least one of them will go between any zweig and a puddle to stop it from going there, while the other two attack with fire from the front or they'll even surround them to attack from different sides like these three are practicing their tactics too! Of course they can't stop all of them from going into those puddles, so sometimes they're too late to burn it and instead wonder why their fire doesn't work...

But hey, they can still fly and attack them in other ways. Maybe not by biting especially after they'll also take a bite of any dead branches, that happen to be lying on the ground. 0/10, would not recommend to anyone, none of them will taste them more than once (and one of them doesn't even try since he sees the others hating them so much) since those taste like shit and instead they'll just burn those branches too so that zweig can't use them to come back from them. And they'll be careful around any sharp branches, but maybe anyone can help them against those especially once the zweig are like wet matchsticks.]

🌸 READY TO GO

[ And the local dragon, that brought Daenerys here, stays around also because they already agreed, that she'd leave her baby dragons to him and the other local dragons while she's away. They've been spending A LOT of time with the local dragons anyway, it's not like the baby dragons don't always enjoy their company.

So eventually Dany picks all three of them up and carries them back to the local dragon(s), petting her three babies and letting them nuzzle, cuddle and snuggle as much as they want to before she takes a few steps back. ]

You three will stay here. I don't want anything bad to happen to you down there. [Or ever, really.] I'll be fine and I'll be right back.

[ After that she gives one last, maybe kind of bittersweet look and pets to all three of them before she turns around and starts walking away without looking back despite how they sound like they want her to stay with them. Or maybe they're like Daenerys, what the fuck because she rarely leaves them behind and generally speaking, she doesn't go anywhere without them. She hates doing this, she really does, but she hates the chances of anything bad happening to them even more. It's for their own safety!! ]

🦋 WHERE'S THE EXIT?

[Whether or not Daenerys waits for Sawyer to join the expedition is really up for whether or not anyone will keep her company out there because otherwise she's not waiting out there for anyone. Distract her, maybe, or don't, she can just fearlessly walk into the mines all alone or in anyone else's company too.

But she doesn't go too deep into them. At least not for now, so she'll be around to possibly chat with anyone, who waits on the main floor. But she's a queen, a khaleesi, no one makes her wait or limits her freedom like this! So once she'll find any of those dwarf tunnels, that may be her way out of here, she'll go explore them. She's a tiny, young woman, who fits right into them again, anyone is free to join her there.]

[Maybe Daenerys didn't consider things through when she brought these dragons along with her because they're free to go and do whatever they feel like doing. And they're not going to just wait outside for her. Eventually they'll escape from their babysitters and come into the mines too. They're looking for Dany, obviously, and their fire abilities get nullified as soon as they enter there -- too bad, they really thought they could use them here in case they run into any trouble.

They might arrive when Daenerys is in those tunnels, so anyone else can see their arrival and try to make them wait for her there. Or they might be able to sneak past everyone, who's waiting in the main room, since it's so dark there. Eventually they might (or will) escape from their possible new babysitters too to explore these mines much deeper. They can still bite, fly and whatever else, but they won't be able to do anything with fire until their powers return.

So, who knows, they might find some kidnapped people(?) and run into those skeletons too. They are harmless to any Otherworlders, but they will attack the skeletons.]

💞 INTO THE UNKNOWN

[Whether it happens because someone here tells Daenerys about her dragons going deep, deep, deep into the mines or because those dragons aren't quiet creatures and she can hear them communicating in some situation out there.... That clearly sends chills down her spine and her eyes go wide.]

[And the other two too, of course, or at least she would be more surprised if all of them aren't there even when she hears his voice first! She's not wasting any more time in the main room after that, though anyone is welcome to try talk some sense to her or even try to stop her from going anywhere!

But it's not going to work and she'll rush deeper into the mines to find them and anyone's welcome to come along with her too. Who knows, maybe she'll find some kidnapped fellow Otherworlders before she'll find her babies or maybe she'll find both at the same time.]

[Alhaitham, cautious as ever, is waiting outside with the rest of the people who elected to stay behind when the SOS message from Sawyer is picked up. While they wait for the staff at the Research Centre to do their work Alhaitham takes some time to examine the panels and try to make sense of the program inside.

Isn’t coding just another form of language, after all..? And language is something that Alhaitham excels at.

As is pattern recognition and, above all, patience. Once they are aware of what their goal is - to assist those inside the mines - the young scholar is able to easily focus on the task. [Once everything in the mines and the surrounding area has returned to normal, Alhaitham actually shows some interest in entering the mines themselves. Why didn’t he go in earlier..? Well, he’s a big fan of not working any harder than he has to in order to get a desired result, and it looked like Sawyer had plenty of people to go along with him already.

He picks up a few supplies at the safe zone camp, packing them neatly into a small bag. Anyone else doing the same thing will get a comment pointed in their direction.]

Take more water than you think you’ll need.

[Given that he spends a good amount of time during the week working in the Amberfall library, it stands to reason that Neuvillette is one of the unfortunate people immediately affected by the current nonsense the fae there are causing. Neuvillette has a good amount of patience for the antics of his ‘coworkers’, so long as they don’t cause direct harm to any innocent patron just trying to find a book (not that they ever respond to being scolded), and they do not often direct their mischief towards him...

But during the day, as he goes about his business carefully cataloging a section of the books, Neuvillette can be spotted sporting a pair of pointed, keen ears and a bushy tail that are distinctly fox-like, save for the fact they are blue. The tail flicks back and forth as he works, doing his best to act as if everything is normal.

Nothing to see here.

Don’t mind his quiet sigh of frustration when a particularly violent swish of that tail knocks a small pile of books over.]

[It doesn’t take him long to realise that the effects of the fae’s conflict is spreading to the outside of the library and into the district beyond. Though he isn’t ignorant of the other things going on at the moment - the excursion, the strange things they found - he also feels a certain responsibility towards ensuring that people don’t come to harm due to the overflow of mischievous magic.

Close to the library, he puts up a few neatly written notices explaining what is happening and apologising for the inconvenience.

If he finds someone struggling with the effects of the magic, well, he will do his best to help… but he isn’t immune to its effects either.]

[For someone wholly reliant on their magic in any kind of combat, and someone who quietly prides themselves on their ability in it, having all of it suddenly cut off is a very… upsetting experience. E’kayan has not been without the ability in magic for as long as he can remember and he knows the moment his connection to it fades. His ever-present ruby carbuncle companion lets out a surprised squeal and promptly vanishes.

The brief, hollow feeling that it causes is immediately filled with a sensation of cold dread.]

Oh, no.

[He makes a gesture, trying to re-summon the carbuncle, trying to do anything at all, and nothing works. E’kayan has faced horrors that would bring some to their knees but always with the power to fight it at his fingertips and to suddenly be without it now borders on terrifying in a way he has never experienced. His ears pin back, his tail curling in between his knees, and he starts backing up towards the mine entrance again immediately.]

I--... I can’t be here. [The Miqo’te says quickly to anyone who notices his retreat.] Not like this.

[A little ashamed of how he reacted when his magical ability was cut off, E’kayan does stick around after everyone comes out again to try and make some sense of the strangely high-tech digital panels in the mines. It isn’t the first time he’s been confronted with technology outside of the realm of what is available in Eorzea, but it is the first time he’s been so utterly and completely confounded by it.]

I almost wish Nero were here. [He hears himself muttering, and he presses his lips together the moment the words leave him. By the Twelve, he’s glad Cid wasn’t around to hear him say that.]

[Diluc makes use of one of the dragons offering to take them to where they need to be and starts to set up the camp near the Crystal Mines entrance. Handy things - he wonders if they could be persuaded to part with a couple once this is done.

At first everything seems normal, quiet, as if they didn’t really need the protection of the barrier stones at all, then he notices it. The movement of a few of the dry branches surrounding the area cleared for the camp. His brow furrows as he looks out, a keen sharpness in his red eyes, and he lightly catches the arm of the next person to walk by him (regardless of who they are, where they might be going, or if they’re holding something).]

What did they tell us that the creatures here are called?

[He has a bad feeling. Like a shiver running down his spine.]

[Luckily for Diluc he doesn’t actually need any magical powers to be a dangerous combatant. He feels it the moment his Pyro abilities are cut off, though, like an uncomfortable shudder through his body as he’s separated from something that has been integral to him since he was ten years old.]

Something’s wrong.

[The Vision seems normal as he checks it. He feels normal, but he cannot summon so much as a single spark. He doesn’t like it, and it makes him cautious. Anyone he sees starting to wander off too far into the mines might hear him call out to them.]

[He didn’t expect Sawyer joining them to improve matters much and the man’s explosion of temper doesn’t garner much of a reaction from him. Gods knew he might have done the same in his position. The panel does get his attention, though, as does the ease with which Sawyer seems to understand its use, and though he does pause to look at it as he passes he quickly realises that he may be of more use with those venturing further in.

With a large claymore braced against his shoulder, held with one hand with far more ease than anyone has a right to be handling such a weapon, he takes up the rear as they head in to investigate and locate anyone who was taken.

The movement of the tunnels becomes quickly apparent once it starts. Diluc pauses to pick something up from the ground - a bracelet, though he doesn’t know who it belongs to - and looks up in time to see one of the walls shift.]

This bloody fae magic again?

[But-- is that what it is? Even after the words leave his mouth he seems to pause, unsure of it.]
