Halloween Is Coming to Town

Halloween has been officially adopted as a holiday in Ellipsa. So the Summer Guild Leader, Dawn, has arranged a three day party to celebrate it. She has gotten a lot of people involved to make it as fun as possible! They are held at all of the guilds (Frostreign, Blossomcrown, Solarpeak, Amberfall).

All of the guilds are now connected through a mirror path. However, the paths have been made longer with the help of Riki's Rewards, so the journey from Guild A to Guild B isn't instant! Instead people will encounter the spooky corridor, full of silly ways to spook someone such as randomly appearing skeletons and ghosts. Usually these are just fake props or people hiding under a sheet - but occasionally there's an actual skeleton around and taking off his head to cite Shakespeare.

The aesthetics of the corridor change depending on what guilds it connects together. All of them are made to be spooky right now, but originally they were made to work as actual methods of traveling between the guilds, so it's not everything there is. The night skies with a creepy red full moons are just temporary!

At the guilds, all of the natives have dressed up in different costumes and are encouraging people to pick their own costume from the costume room setup. Unfortunately, some very mischievous fairies have gotten into the room undetected and may cast a spell that makes someone act like they're the character the costume represents.

There's also an option to get a random costume if someone feels daring.

Otherwise it's a party filled with different kinds of Halloween appropriate food and drinks. Cookies that look like skeletons, pudding made to look like brains, drinks that look like blood and so on. Even the actual food has somehow been made to look creepy.

By the end of the evening, anyone who hasn't screamed because they were scared will be gifted a special potion called shared bravery. It lets the user to share their bravery with others around them for five hours.

[Rinku looks at her nervously. She's already had her night ruined once, but she's trying to shake it off... but the thought of dying makes her gulp and look nervously at her.

Little mage-cloaked Mecchan, however, has no such restraint.]

Waaa... [Mecchan hiccups and latches onto Evangeline's sleeve.

Rinku wipes her tears on her arm brace.]

I-it's okay, Mecchan... I don't wanna think about dying, Neechan. It's way too scary. [sniff] And this is supposed to be fun, right? Did something happen?

[abnormalizes]

Oh.

[Rinku doesn't want to think about dying, and Evangeline is Evangeline and doesn't want to upset her, so she should talk about something else.

...Anything else.

.........Any moment now.]

[Blink. Sniffle, wiping her eyes again. Mecchan is still crying, so she gathers him up into her arms.]

Was it a bad quest?

No. ...Normally. Normally I would have other things to talk about besides death.

[So the fact that she can't come up with something means that something happened, right?]

[Rinku holds Mecchan to her and casts with her other hand. Since this is a fairy trick, not a curse, nothing comes up.]

You're not cursed... and no one else is acting like that, I don't think...

[Mecchan sniffles. He blows a bubble in concern.]

Do you see anything else weird?

[abnormalizes]

No? ...But my eyes aren't very big like this.

[So she doesn't see as much as she normally would.]

[Rinku shifts Mecchan a little to group-hug Evangeline. The trick hasn't gotten her, but that's just because she's still carrying charms against fae tricks on her person... she never got around to unpacking them.]

I'm gonna try and figure out what happened. I don't want your time at the party to get ruined. [sniff]

[abnormalizes]

[Evangeline should have those too, but I'm making an executive decision that they either don't work when in a Hammerspace Bag or she left them at home for some reason.

If nothing else, the five-armed hug from Evangeline is pretty nice.]

[Makes sense! Maybe she already used hers up, who knows.

Mecchan's tears slow and he snuggles Evangeline. Rinku does too and shakes her head.]

It's not your fault, Neechan. I don't think you did anything wrong. I got scared too.

I don't like to make you mou- upset.

[Not! Talking! About! Death!]

Mecchan just gets scared a lot, and... [gulp] I kind of. Already. Got scared at the food. Because it looks like body parts and it made me think of some things and I know I gotta work harder or I won't be able to help like I want to and you'll all still be scared I'll get hurt but... So it wasn't your fault!

[abnormalizes]

Everyone dies eoh my god why do I keep saying this.

[It's hard to tell without a face, but she certainly sounds frustrated.]

It's just food, it can't hurt you.

[She's really upset Evangeline now. Rinku's shoulders slump.]

And I know you're right. I still don't like it, but I gotta get strong and be brave like you. I'm sorry.

[Girl!! She's frustrated at whatever it is that makes her keep talking about death, not at you for being grossed out by the food!!]

I don't think you should be as brave as me. That probably wouldn't happen without you going through things as bad as my world, and I don't want that.

I don't want that either... I don't want it to happen to anyone. So I'm gonna keep trying. But I didn't want to make you mad by getting upset.

[Oh hey she can hug her and scritch her head at the same time, that's pretty cool.]

[Nuzz. Rinku instinctively starts to cuddle, sprouting her usual ears and horns, as well as the tail sticking out from her skirt to any onlookers. Mecchan snuggles too -- at least he's not crying anymore -- and Hina flies over from the food and bumps gently into Evangeline's wing-head before settling on Rinku's head.]
