Halloween Is Coming to Town

Halloween has been officially adopted as a holiday in Ellipsa. So the Summer Guild Leader, Dawn, has arranged a three day party to celebrate it. She has gotten a lot of people involved to make it as fun as possible! They are held at all of the guilds (Frostreign, Blossomcrown, Solarpeak, Amberfall).

All of the guilds are now connected through a mirror path. However, the paths have been made longer with the help of Riki's Rewards, so the journey from Guild A to Guild B isn't instant! Instead people will encounter the spooky corridor, full of silly ways to spook someone such as randomly appearing skeletons and ghosts. Usually these are just fake props or people hiding under a sheet - but occasionally there's an actual skeleton around and taking off his head to cite Shakespeare.

The aesthetics of the corridor change depending on what guilds it connects together. All of them are made to be spooky right now, but originally they were made to work as actual methods of traveling between the guilds, so it's not everything there is. The night skies with a creepy red full moons are just temporary!

At the guilds, all of the natives have dressed up in different costumes and are encouraging people to pick their own costume from the costume room setup. Unfortunately, some very mischievous fairies have gotten into the room undetected and may cast a spell that makes someone act like they're the character the costume represents.

There's also an option to get a random costume if someone feels daring.

Otherwise it's a party filled with different kinds of Halloween appropriate food and drinks. Cookies that look like skeletons, pudding made to look like brains, drinks that look like blood and so on. Even the actual food has somehow been made to look creepy.

By the end of the evening, anyone who hasn't screamed because they were scared will be gifted a special potion called shared bravery. It lets the user to share their bravery with others around them for five hours.

Well, you know how Fairy Tail never does things by halves. If their enemy is the king of an entire nation, they'll fight the entire nation if they have to. And the Black Wizard Zeref was very much their enemy. Not many knew this, but he was intending to bring about the end of the age of man. Apparently, humankind had quite disappointed him, and he no longer saw fit to let them live.

I love it when one guy decides that humanity doesn't deserve to stay alive. How'd you end up working alongside someone like that when you started out working towards peace between dragons and humans?

Zeref was the one who, even if incompletely, restored me to my true form. I owed him a debt of gratitude. As for humanity, it was humans that betrayed me and left me to rot in my own dungeon alongside my unborn child. At the time, I couldn't have cared less if they all died.

As for Zeref himself, I suppose that's simply the perspective of a powerful immortal. It's entirely possible nostalgia had blinded him to the fact that humanity has always been this way.

[He hums and concedes a nod - that's fair enough, on Irene's part at least, especially when he takes into consideration the immense time spans involved. A few centuries in a dungeon might make just about anyone hate the world.]

Well, it's always the same with us humans: You get the best along with the worst. Where are you going to be when this magic wears off? "Asleep" until the stars align again?

[Since she said that only residual memories remain of her, he doubts that she's always conscious alongside Wendy... but then, what does he know?]

Quite likely, yes. However, Wendy should be aware that these traces of my being exist within her. If she ever decides she needs my power enough to enhance these residual thoughts, I would become conscious full time. Not nearly enough to have any control, but enough to become a voice whispering in her ear.

As if she weren't badass enough already! But no, seriously, that's good. She is still a kid, despite everything.

[He grabs a finger-looking treat to snack on as they talk - seeing Irene sample the buffet has brought back his appetite, now that the initial surprise has well worn off.]

I've got to say, Dragon Slayer magic is still hard to grasp for me even though Wendy told me a lot about it. I thought it required a bond between a human and a dragon, but if you created it on your own, that assumption's probably off-base.

When did I ever say I created it on my own? If I'm the mother of Dragon Slayer magic, the Sage Dragon Belserion was the father. It was only through our combined efforts that Dragon Slayer magic was born. My kingdom's citizenry actually included dragons of the coexistence faction before the events of the civil war soured relations, to the point that I was even known as the Queen of Dragons.

Now that sounds like what Wendy told me! Are you actually aware of everything that's been going on here? Because if not, you're going to love hearing about this.

I do have some awareness of what Wendy's been doing, yes. If things had gone so well four hundred years ago, perhaps dragonkind would still exist in Earthland. Or perhaps not, I still don't truly know what Acnologia's motivation for exterminating dragonkind was. Things are only muddled by the fact that he was already going by that name as a human. Acnologia is a dragon name.

I'll be honest, I can't say I'm sad that he's not here for us to ask. Between him and Zeref, there'd be nobody left in your world if it weren't for people like Wendy and Erza.

Did he also undergo draconisation, like you? I'd assumed that he was a dragon from birth.

Yes, Acnologia was originally human. I don't know where he learned Dragon Slayer magic, but he bathed in the blood of so many different dragons of different types that he eventually became immune to magic entirely. Being nourished so well, it's no surprise that his Dragon Seed sprouted swiftly.

How do people end up with Dragon Seeds, anyway?

It's simply a natural consequence of Dragon Slayer magic. The power of a dragon coalesces inside the body, forming a core of draconic nature. The strength, senses, and all dragon-like physical traits of a Dragon Slayer originate from this seed. Under normal circumstances, consistent use of the magic will cause the seed to grow within the body until it can no longer be contained by human flesh. That is where Dragonization starts.

So draconisation is inevitable unless the dragon seed gets neutralised? Is that something only dragons can do?

[He's asking enough questions for a whole lecture hall, but how often does one get the chance to speak to the very co-creator of Dragon Slayer magic?]

I didn't know it was possible at all until it happened to the five Slayers sent to the future. I can only assume that hosting a dragon's soul in your body redirects the process into sustaining the existence of said soul. Then, once the seed is exhausted, it becomes dormant and can no longer change its true host. Mind you, this is just a theory. If you want a sure explanation, you'd have to ask one of the dragons involved.

If the five of them were the only Dragon Slayer magic users who didn't get draconised, that checks out.

I don't think this enchantment will last too much longer. A few hours, less if someone counters the spell. You're right, I do need to enjoy having a corporeal body while I can. Though, might I make a request for Wendy's sake? It doesn't even need to be you who does it so long as you find someone willing and able to do it.

From what I've been able to determine, Wendy spent an entire year cohabitating with the girl she likes and never even realized she does like her that way. She knows where babies come from, but only from a purely biological standpoint. Whenever the Heartfilia girl summons that perverted maid of a Celestial Spirit, she's hopelessly confused. Please, for the love of all that is good, get somebody to give her The Talk, because her guildmates clearly never got around to it.

Please. She's completely oblivious, and if I have to deal with her and her God Slayer girlfriend innocently holding hands and staring into each other's eyes one more time... I mean, they're damn cute and all, but it does get tiring watching them continuously fail to get the message.

Hold on, now! I get that it's painful to watch kids being cluelessly in love for way longer than should be allowed, but what's a God Slayer?!

Why, exactly what it sounds like. Someone who has, some way or another, learned God Slaying magic. The person in question, Chelia Blendy, is the Sky God Slayer for example. So far as I'm aware, it's unlike Dragon and Devil Slayer magics in how it lacks side effects.

So there's at least three of these magics... you guys should start calling otherworlders in; it sounds like your world could use some help with so many powerful factions clashing!

[Clearly, it's not a perfectly triangular enmity, given Wendy and Chelia's relationship alone, but even so, this sounds like world-destruction-level encounters waiting to happen! Acnologia and Zeref - alone or together - were already too much for his liking!

There's no need, the war between Alvaraz and Fairy Tail ended a year ago, in Fairy Tail's favor. Acnologia is finally dead as well. All known God Slayers are allied with Fairy Tail, and the one Devil Slayer I know of- not that he's much of a Slayer, really- is a member of the guild itself. The only pressing concern currently is the Hundred Years Quest Wendy and her team will be going on pending her return.
