All those months of work are paying off, and Rinku and Mary have moved to Solarpeak! Their new house, a beach-stilt-style house in walking distance from the Summer Guild building, is bright inside and out, and today there are balloons and games set up underneath the house and a wide-open door up the stairs leading into it.

Anyone who knows Rinku and/or Mary will have been invited to party; housewarming gifts are accepted but not required, and food is provided, ordered in from nearby restaurants. The bedrooms are closed but everywhere else is open, and if you need to get away from the party, you can go sit outside... or if Mecchan isn't scared of you, he might let you chill in his room for a while. Otherwise, have fun with the games, the art room, the music room, the food, and anything else!

I think I'm the same, Davis-san. Everything here is really amazing, but I got attached to the people too. ...I think it's home. I mean, I have more than one place that's "home" already, and sometimes people go away and don't come back and that scares me, and I used to be scared that I'd come back too different but when I went home for a bit I was the same me I was before so now that doesn't worry me anymore. But part of me wants to stay here forever. I mean, people are already working really hard on ways to bring specific people, like to save Neechan's parents from the City so she can live here in Ellipsa forever.

The temporal shifting that comes with the spell in this place is impressive. Takes and returns the exact same. That way you don't remember this place, it seems. Though that might be able to be altered, like people are trying to do.

No guarantee though. The magic of this world has a lot of rooms and scope feels like a big one. Still, perhaps you can stay here forever. Somehow. Depends on what people are willing to do, the price people are willing to pay, to get it. Nothing is free.

Huh... What do you mean, pay? Like we'd have to do something to let them keep us once we're done saving the world? I thought that was just contributing. Like going on missions, and paying taxes.

I mean what we're doing could be part of the cost. But magic, casting a spell like that, would also have a cost, most likely. A large amount of seasonal energy, to start. Who knows what else. Just saying what I know and what to be mindful of. That's all.

[Rinku ponders this, the majority of it going over her head as she munches on the donut.]

Guu... So it'd take a spell to let Ellipsa keep somebody, just like it did to have it take us in the first place?

Likely. Our worlds will likely also want us back. So creating a way back and forth or doing a spell to allow someone to stay here exclusively will probably be needed.

Huh, yeah, that's true. And I don't wanna lose any of the other places I've called home. Someone told me once that that's okay, though. Like... "Who says you can't have more than one home, just like you can love more than one person?"

[Rinku makes a series of nervous and unsure faces. Immediately, she brightens and runs to the table.

Not the one the pop is actually on. Just one that someone left their unattended drink at. She shakes the cup around, trying not to spill and mostly succeeding, and sets it down with a smile. He didn't say which table!

Um... Okay! Do you think we're here for a reason? Like, even though the people who summoned us didn't pick specific people, the spell decided on its own who to bring for a reason? Or someone else did? I dunno, stuff people come up with.

My understanding of the magic used is that it brings people that can help improve this place. Now, help and improve are broad terms. And it may be subjective to the summoned person's definition of improvements.

Huh... But the magic decides that on its own, still, right?

That I don't know, honestly. The magic here isn't like the magic in my world so I honestly don't know.

Oh, that's true, huh... I just kinda assumed that because the spell picks the specific person, since the people casting it can't.

The Guild Leaders don't know how the spell chooses people. The mechanism of the spell is lost to time and history. We can rediscover that, possibly. But it will take time.
