Party time, party time

All those months of work are paying off, and Rinku and Mary have moved to Solarpeak! Their new house, a beach-stilt-style house in walking distance from the Summer Guild building, is bright inside and out, and today there are balloons and games set up underneath the house and a wide-open door up the stairs leading into it.

Anyone who knows Rinku and/or Mary will have been invited to party; housewarming gifts are accepted but not required, and food is provided, ordered in from nearby restaurants. The bedrooms are closed but everywhere else is open, and if you need to get away from the party, you can go sit outside... or if Mecchan isn't scared of you, he might let you chill in his room for a while. Otherwise, have fun with the games, the art room, the music room, the food, and anything else!

I will! And I have a Luxury Tent, so it's not even cramped to sleep in or anything!

[Speaking of sleeping, Hina has fallen asleep on Evangeline's head, using her flower as a pillow. She lightly snores.]

I think so! I have some camping recipes I got so I wouldn't just eat onigiri... although I usually do still just eat onigiri... but I bet I could make us something good on the trail too.

[Rinku has read all of Laid-Back Camp. And probably burned the tomato sauce the same way I did the first time I tried following the recipe off the manga.]

I honestly don't even do that much cooking at home, let alone while camping. But I'd eat anything you made.

[This is actually genuinely true and she isn't even thinking about how she's immune to most poisons now. She has not heard about the mushroom incident.]

Really? I guess I'm the same, I usually get stuff from the convenience store because it's cheap... But I really have been working on cooking way more these days! I'm gonna do my best so you like it!

My apartment at home doesn't have its own oven or stove, so I don't have a lot of experience with more complicated cooking than 'microwave this'.

I kinda wish Maho-chan were here. She's a great cook! Every time we all end up cooking together, it turns out to be a lot of fun! Did I ever tell you about the time Rei-chan wanted to make stovetop curry because she never gets to eat instant stuff at home?

No, I don't think you did, tell me more.

[She always likes hearing Rinku talk about her friends at home. They're just so cute.]

Yeah! We were all excited to go to Rei-chan's to eat her fancy rich-people food, but she was excited to eat stuff that's exotic to her, so she went and bought stovetop curry roux like the kind Muni-chan makes all the time. But then she went out to get the beef while we were waiting... and she kinda took forever because she always gets lost when she's on her own. When she came back, it was dark out already and she ended up going to the expensive butcher shop instead of the regular grocery store, and we kinda thought it was a waste to use that on curry rice. So Maho-chan took charge and had us make beef stew! It was a lot of fun! Even if I'm still not good at cutting vegetables!

That does sound like fun. -I'd be excited to have fancy rich-people food too, honestly, but I get that it's not special if you eat it all the time... But eating with friends is just nice in general.

Yeah, it really is! I hope everyone likes the party food. I know different pizza's popular in different places, so I tried to get an okay spread of different ones? I remembered the one you like, though! Shadow-kun was having some earlier.

It looked like a good selection to me! But I'm not really a picky eater, so I guess you should ask someone who is...

Huh, I guess so. But picky eaters would all have different answers, right? Everyone likes different things.

That's a good point... But it's impractical and expensive to just get every kind, so I guess you just have to get a variety and hope?

Yeah, that's true. Even if you're super rich and get every kind, you're gonna have a billion leftovers.

I know I don't have enough room in my fridge for all that.

I'd have to have a whole other party for people to eat the rest.

I'd go to a second Rinku and Mary party...

We're gonna have to have one, then! Maybe for a holiday or something! Mecchan and Mimi-chan don't like having lots of strangers around all the time, but if it's once in a while they can hide in Mecchan's room and play. I think they're getting used to each other now.

[They're slowly going from panicking over one another getting to the hiding spots first when someone's at the door to hiding on opposite sides of the couch and nervously looking at each other... by this time next month (so now) they'll be hiding under the same chair and taking up all the space!]

A holiday party... Do you think they're doing one for Halloween this year?

Probably! I bet I can ask the guilds, but they were so excited for Halloween last year, why wouldn't they?

Makes sense to me. I hope they have one, I have a much better costume this year.
