Party time, party time

All those months of work are paying off, and Rinku and Mary have moved to Solarpeak! Their new house, a beach-stilt-style house in walking distance from the Summer Guild building, is bright inside and out, and today there are balloons and games set up underneath the house and a wide-open door up the stairs leading into it.

Anyone who knows Rinku and/or Mary will have been invited to party; housewarming gifts are accepted but not required, and food is provided, ordered in from nearby restaurants. The bedrooms are closed but everywhere else is open, and if you need to get away from the party, you can go sit outside... or if Mecchan isn't scared of you, he might let you chill in his room for a while. Otherwise, have fun with the games, the art room, the music room, the food, and anything else!

Laetitia is friendly and mischievous. She loves playing little pranks on people and seeing their surprised faces, but she never means any harm. She has a lot of good friends that remind me of your dolls - not everyone appreciates how cute they are.

I think we'd get on well, too. And I'd want to meet her friends too!

...Rinku's nice to my Blue Dolls and they never bother her. And she's nice to Mimi, too.

[Mary's smile turned a little nervous, all the same, lowering her voice.]

...But I know I'll need to tell her soon.

I think- I want to tell her, but I don't really know how. Or what I'd do if she rejected me, too.

[It was a big improvement on hiding her nature at all costs, even if the circumstances did put some pressure on her to tell the truth.]

I think you can just say 'hey, I have to tell you something important' and then tell her. She might have a lot of questions, but she'll probably think it's cool.

And I can ask Mimi to guard my canvas when I do, just in case.

She's not going to try to hurt you! ...But if it would make you feel better to have Mimi guard it, then do whatever you need to feel safer.

[A small nod, thinking carefully over what Evangeline said...before her worried expression turned into something more of a sulk.]

...It always sounds easy when you say it, but it's really hard.

...I know it's hard. I'm still scared that people will try to hurt me, too.

[Even though she knows in her head that people are her friends, it's nearly impossible to completely relax and let her guard down.]

But you're really nice... and you're real. Why would people want to hurt you?

[She knew Evangeline's home was a place where people wouldn't care if others got hurt, but even though Mary didn't have the words to describe it, apathy was very different to outright maliciousness.]

At home, it'd usually be for money? You can get a decent amount of cash selling bodies.

[If Evangeline can have this conversation without explicitly mentioning cannibalism to the actual child, she'll be relieved.]

It doesn't matter how nice you are if someone can profit from you dying. At least, that's how it is in the City.

[Mary frowned a bit, as she tried to make sense of it. She'd heard about buying and selling art before, but there was a maliciousness she couldn't quite place in the world Evangeline described.

No, perhaps it still wasn't that. Perhaps it was a purer sense of apathy, deep down.

After a long, intense few moments of thought, she shuffled over to hug Evangeline's arm.]

...I don't want you to go back there. You should stay here with us.

[Or maybe, if she had to return... then Mary could give Evangeline her precious palette knife to take back with her. Perhaps that would keep her safe.]

[Evangeline gently wraps her other arm around Mary.]

It is nicer. ...It's not lonely, like the Gallery was, or horrid like your home was.

[Just staying close, in the hopes that she could offer some comfort.]
