{ ayato actually hasn't gone home yet today, after finishing a quest instead deciding to call somewhere for a drink first. it's becoming more of a habit, trying new places as suggestions for whenever he meets up with someone for drinks at any point. he isn't trusting enough to invite people over to his, and conversation flows a lot more easily when the other party is tipsy. information is easier to pry out of another person in that state.
and as he sips on his drink of choice tonight (something fruitier than intended, but he's willing to try something once) his eyes shift over to the upbeat music when it starts.
the melancholy piano was more his style, the upbeat tempo of the guitar is a little too happy, at least for the thoughts he's currently sifting through in his head.
but if he stops himself and allows himself to actually enjoy the music, it is rather relaxing. it forces him to stop for the time being, and enjoy the music for what it is.
it feels like years since he's done that.
whenever kaeya stops to take a break he'll give a slow clap with the rest of the tavern, before he makes his way over. }
Did you need a drink? This one may have more bite to it than boba tea, if you'd like.
He gave a playful bow to his audience and leaned the guitar up on the wall. Whoever joined in after him would hopefully keep the jovial atmosphere. But he was surprised to see Ayato here as well.]
Ah, no offense to the bartender but nothing here has much of a bite to it, in my humble opinion. Not after Death After Noon. Now that has a bite. [Nonetheless, he got himself some umeshu instead. He rather enjoyed the sweetness of this particular drink.] What brings you all the way out here? Or is it that Sunwaning reminds you of Inazuma.
but the reality is literally a plan for a short break nonetheless. }
I dislike being idle. { which isn't necessarily true, he just seems to have forgotten how to be. and he can't rest, there's too much on his mind lately. } And really, exploring the other areas is more helpful than problematic.
I can't help but try different drinks offered at different places when I'm practically done for the day. Though I have to say, only the brewery seems to be up to par.
{ and he had intended to message lumine to ask if she was free, as per their initial agreement, but he has company now at least. }
I can't disagree there. I explored a few of the other city's before settling in this one.
[Somehow choosing the same place as Albedo and Diluc in the process.]
Heh, no, I don't. I haven't played in years, in fact. But I suppose the dreary song was a bit too much for me.
[He won't admit that being at least a little inebriated had something to do with it either. It wasn't like he was all that tipsy to begin with. He was usually a morose drunk, so the music certainly switched gears within for him.]
I suppose the relaxed atmosphere lends a hand to that.
{ at least he'll assume it's for that reason. he doubts he and ayaka will stay in the centre for much longer, perhaps shortly after her free rent period ends. they've likely saved enough by now to move.
though to be fair, money isn't the issue. }
And perhaps not, but not many would be able to pick it up after years and gain an audience in a tavern either. I don't think we're all that drunk.
[It wasn't like Sunwaning was the only less noisy city, but it was one of the couple he looked at and really liked. It being the same place that Albedo and Diluc stayed in only aided in his decision. Not that he anticipated actually choosing an apartment where he was literally on the same floor as Diluc.]
Oho, are you sure? Maybe we all are.
[He sipped his plum wine as he laughed. No, he didn't think they were all that drunk either, though.]
No, it was simply a song that I played a lot. It was hard to forget, that's all. It really is not so incredible as it seems. I assure you.

Do you normally play at taverns?

So you're living in the area, I take it?
{ they haven't moved out of the free apartments just yet. it's a case of saving for something with a good garden, something that ayaka wants. }
Oh? I couldn't tell. Clearly you're a natural.
{ they're back to compliments already, but it wasn't undeserved, at least. }

I am. Nightwake City has its charm but I prefer areas like this. It may not be Mondstadt, but it works just as well.
[Also helps that it was one of two cities to specialize in horses, so that narrowed down the choice significantly.
He laughed and waved his hand dismissively.]
Hardly. I was taught and had practiced as I grew older. Nothing special.

{ plus, sunwaning is most similar to inazuma, ayaka will likely choose it for that reason, even despite it being warmer than other areas. }
I see, though they do say practice makes perfect.

[Does he just want to keep tabs on the Commissioner? Maybe. Maybe not. But more familiar faces are also always welcome.]
Will it just be you, your sister, and your housekeeper, then?

{ they get along well enough, no need to hide the area he lives in when it happens. }
Actually, I'm not sure either of us have spoken with Thoma about it. I imagine it's more likely it will be me, my sister and her partner.
