[Hijikata was en route to the farmlands on his winged mount when he heard Rinoa's call on the wind. (Yes, he knows that he shouldn't go on quests on his own, let alone on one as dangerous as this, but he was going to wait for someone else to arrive - and it seems like that condition has already been met!) Unable to respond, he encourages his bull to fly faster.

On arrival, he spots someone else in the sky... but without a mount. Huh. Probably not a human, then. All the better! While he has a lot of faith in his own abilities, the more they have in store against those monsters the better. He approaches on his big white bull.]

Hey! Are you the one who called for reinforcements on the wind? I'm the backup.

[pinwheels]

[ Rinoa's smile when Hijikata approaches is one of relief. The more the merrier in this situation, and while he may not have wings of his own, the fact that he's on a flying creature will surely help him against the Malboro-like creature as it swamps its surrounds with horrid gases and poisons. She came prepared to help people stay off the ground as necessary, but the less magic she has to expend, the better. Right? ]

That's me. I'm glad you came; this is gonna be much easier with two of us. Hi, it's nice to meet you!

[ A weird time to greet someone, perhaps, but it's there— and offered not only to Hijikata himself, but also to the bull on which he rides. Her eyes crinkle in a brief, broad smile, and then Rinoa turns her attention back to the creature, pointing out the dangers around it. ]

How do you fight? Do you need to be close to it? I have magic that can protect you from some of its effects... but we still have to be careful.

[On approach, he wasn't sure if her wings were organic or constructed, but up close they certainly look real! He wonders if she's an angel... but aren't those said to have more eyes? Well, no matter; he likes her can-do attitude!

His mount is a large, small-horned creature, looking more like a beef breed than an arena bull, and one can only assume that its internal anatomy differs from its land-bound brethren to explain how such a big animal can become airborne. It's outfitted with a custom saddle and armour and looks at her with patient dark eyes, not making any sound, but seeming calm and comfortable in her presence.]

Likewise! Honestly, I can do pretty much anything from up here that I'd also be able to do on the ground. I've got fire and lightning magic, plus telekinesis if we want to shove it into anything, and with any luck I might be able to get a bazooka hit in - they're kind of like cannons, if you're not familiar -, but in the worst case I can always use my swords.

[He really isn't too worried, despite the monster looking like it'd make short work of non-combatants. He's been questing for such a long time, he's seen worse at this point, and he won't shy away from a dive attack to impale it from above if that's what it takes! Still, they may have options for a better strategy.]

It seems like you know some things about these monsters. Have you taken one down before?
