[Kaeya might not have wanted to bother him so late at night but that certainly doesn't mean that he doesn't. Diluc is disturbed by the other man getting out of bed, moving around the room, able to tell by the shift in his gait and the noises he made that everything wasn't quite normal.

He thinks about just letting him leave, for a while, listening to him clearly getting ready to go out... but just before Kaeya takes a leap off the balcony he'll get a pair of warm arms wrapping around him from behind and a kiss pressed into his back, between his wings.]

Were you planning to disappear into the night without so much as a cursory by-your-leave? I'm surprised at you.

[Not really surprised.]

[The kiss produced goosebumps and a small smile. He looked over his shoulder, adjusting his wing to get a proper look at Diluc. His eye seemingly glowed in the moonlight as his gaze softened.]

Oh, come now. I kindly left you a note on the nightstand! I know better and you know it. You should be asleep at this hour anyway.

So should you, Master Kaeya.

[Or perhaps not, given... all of this. It's nothing that bothers Diluc to see (or touch, obviously), but he might have liked more than a note left on the nightstand.]

If you're intent on leaving, I'll wait up for you.

[It wasn't so much that he worried about bothering Diluc about this (he stopped that after the second or third time this happened) but more so that he wasn't tired. And a little restless.

He carefully turned around and sat down on the railing, his knees were on either side of Diluc's waist and he squeezed them playfully.]

I just didn't want to keep you up. I'm not sleepy tonight. But if you're going to wait up anyway, then I can always figure something else out here. Or maybe you can come with me.

[He swung his legs playfully.]

A little midnight stroll.

Hmm...

[He settles himself easily between Kaeya's thighs, placing his hands on top of them as they squeeze against his hips. His eyes are slightly lidded, gaze fond, and he steps in close enough to steal a kiss from the other man's lips.]

Why do I have the feeling that it wouldn't be something so simple as a 'little midnight stroll' if you went out alone? [He glances up at Kaeya under his eyelashes.]

Would I be keeping you from something if I went with you?

[Kaeya easily accepted the kiss, clawed hands cupping Diluc's jaw as he gazed down at him. And Diluc says Kaeya is the pretty one. Has he looked in the mirror lately?

He couldn't help a snort of amusement, eyes narrowing in his laughter.]

You make it sound like I am going to do something unbecoming without you around. But no, you would not. Just a bit of drinking while I walk wander through the dark and quiet Sunwaning.

[Diluc grins slightly at Kaeya's faux-indignation, looking up at him with undisguised fondness. It's an expression saved for when the two of them are alone - they aren't too given to public displays of affection.]

Just a bit of drinking, and you wonder why I think you might do something unbecoming? [He teases lightly, pinching the younger man's thighs.]

If you'd prefer some time alone then I won't take offence.

[Kaeya had a feeling if he continued and asked Diluc to name an incident, the other man would certainly be able to remember something Kaeya did not. So, instead, he took Diluc's words at face value and nodded.]

I'll try not to cause too much trouble, then. I'll be back before you know it.

[Admittedly, he was a little reluctant to leave now. But Kaeya was feeling restless and it would just come back in due time. The sun wasn't even rising yet by the time he returned. He had to make a stop at his own apartment to get a box to put the seashells he had collected that Hijikata had kindly carried for him in his hoodie.

But soon, he was dropping with a light thud onto the balcony, his arm with a box of several seashells, and feeling a buzz after drinking more than half a bottle of wine with Hijikata. ]

Diluc? Are you awake?

[His voice was barely above a whisper, in case the other man had truly fallen asleep waiting up for him.]

[Diluc has in fact fallen asleep waiting, the shape of him just visible on the couch in the living area as Kaeya comes in off the balcony. He stirs immediately on hearing his name and sits up with a soft grunt, rubbing a hand through his hair and looking over his shoulder with a weary smile.]

Ah, there you are.

[He pushes himself up and stretches, rubbing the back of his neck.]

I was planning to go to bed... but here I am.

[Kaeya gave a fond sigh, setting the little treasure box down on the coffee table next to the couch. He sat down on it as well, facing the couch.]

Here you are. How's your neck?

[phoenixblessed]

Mm? It's fine, just a little stiff.

[With Kaeya in easy reach he leans forwards to kiss him, cupping one side of his head as he does. The press of his lips lingers for a moment before a smile curves them and he sits back, taking hold of one of the other man's hands instead.]

Did you work your restlessness out?

I sure did.

[His tail was already swishing from the kiss, but he looked very much like a child as he pulled the box over and opened it. His ears wiggled in delight.]

They have seashells at Solarpeak! I didn't know a false beach would have them.

[He may not be restless but he certainly wasn't sleepy either.]

Heh...

[Diluc's expression softens at Kaeya's excitement and he looks down into the box, feeling his throat briefly knot up as he sees the contents. Shells. They used to love going to the beach to collect shells together, didn't they?]

I expect they put them there to make it more authentic.

[He picks one out, turning it over between his fingers.]

They're pretty.

Mm, they are.

[Kaeya leaned forward a bit, ducking his head to get into Diluc's line of sight. He smiled softly.]

We should go sometime. I may need you to stop me from collecting more. I'm almost out of room.

Why would I want to stop you? We can always make more room.

[It's cute, and he's not going to say a word to keep Kaeya from picking up as many shells as he wants to.]

But try not to clear the entire beach... Other people might want them.

[icepatch]

Hmph, I would never never!

[Despite the pout and mock huff, Kaeya was still looking pretty happy with himself. That tail of his never stopped moving.]

Maybe I ought to learn to make something from them, earn a little extra coin from some.

[He does look pleased. Diluc can hardly scold him too badly when he's almost like a puppy wagging its tail.]

Maybe you should, but I want the first thing you make.
