[Leaping back up into Aether's lap, Childe's tail twitches a few times, but seems to be considering the names. Claw...it's the right vein, but not quite it. Fighter is just too plain, but Rogue, he'll take that. He takes his little kitty paw and taps Aether's leg with it twice, to signify that he likes the second name.]

Meow, meow meow.

[It's a little cliche, but Rogue'll work just fine.

But it's been an eventful day, so the Harbinger curls up in Aether's lap, lying down and enjoying his warmth as he gets comfortable. Though, Childe also knows another thing about cats-

Once they have claimed your lap, you can no longer get up. >:D]

[The moment his little friend jumps back onto his lap and taps his little paw twice against Aether's leg, the traveler can't help but look with curiosity at the kitty.]

...Two? So Rogue? That's how you want to be called?

[He's perfectly fine having his new friend - Rogue! on his lap, petting the cat and relaxing completely against the back of the couch.]

You know, you're a really smart cat. [But then again Taroumaru and Neko are both very intelligent, with Neko even able to speak, so maybe it's not surprise there are such clever cats in here, too.

Aether shakes his head, then continues to just relax, stroking the cats fur slowly. It just feels nice.]

Well, then. Welcome home, Rogue. I'll be very happy to have some company here.

[He smiles softly at the cat.]

[Looks to him like Aether has accepted his fate, purring as he accepts the compliment and content to lie here and fall asleep. He'll worry about getting home and figuring out how to get turned back to normal later, it's not like there's a whole lot he can do right now anyway and he's in the safe possession of his friend. It's been a long day.

The soft pets he's getting is enough to get Childe to fall asleep quickly, letting the tiniest kitty snores bubble up out of him as he passes out right in Aether's lap. He's out for several minutes before something seems to shift inside of him, completely unbeknownst to him as it doesn't wake him up immediately. The little cat body that sits in the traveler's lap begins to grow and shift into something more human, the fur receding from his body to be replaced with skin, his paws turning into feet and hands while sporting a head of ginger unkempt hair. Tartaglia continues to sleep soundly, all six+ feet of him curled up on Aether's lap and the parts of the couch that he spills out onto due to his height, completely naked and oblivious to his situation.

Childe murmurs in his sleep, clearly dreaming about his favorite thing- fighting.]

Ngh... come at me...you knave...

[He is quite happy to accept this fate! In fact, Aether would say that there's something extremely calming, almost therapeutic about having a cat purring on your lap. Then his little friend falls asleep and, honestly, can there be anything cuter than a sleeping cat? Aether can't stop smiling.

Eventually, he starts feeling drowsy himself, his hand rests against the warm fur, everything goes silent with the exception of those small kitty snores (that are also just so adorable). Aether closes his eyes for a moment...

...And then he feels that something changes. His eyes open, then widen. The small kitty changes shape on his lap, forming into a more human shape with every moment. It doesn't take long for this transformation to complete, the form now resting on his lap very familiar.]

C-Childe?!

[His voice rings uncharacteristically sharp as Aether finds himself frozen in the spot. Here is a Fatui Harbinger resting on his lap with no clothing on whatsoever. The travellers face goes bright red for many reasons. A part of him prays that maybe he did fall asleep and is now having a very strange dream.

T-There's no way his new cat friend is just Childe transformed!... Right??]

[Aether's sharp cry rouses him instantly, his eyes snapping open at the sound, finding himself lying on his side on the couch. His mind doesn't yet realize that he's regained his human form, rolling over on his back suddenly to look upward at Aether with confusion, startled by his friend crying out suddenly. It's then, because he's had to move his body, that he realizes he's back to normal...]

Aether, you scared the absolute daylights out of me yelling like that! What's...

[...and then he looks down at himself.

Oh.]

...oh goodness.

[There's a moment where he too, freezes when he finds himself in such a compromising position, face starting to burn red as he clamors up out of Aether's lap to grab the nearest pillow off the couch to cover himself.]

[There's something surreal about this situation, especially when Childe snaps away, turns in his lap and looks up at him. Then the other also realizes his current situation and quickly covers himself. Aether doesn't think he's ever seen Childe blush, but it's hard to miss how red his companion's cheeks became, making the traveler even more flustered.

It doesn't help that his eyes just had to take a quick glance at the other, before shutting his eyes and putting a hand over them for a good measure.]

...I-I...

[Awkward.]

I'll go get you some blanket... None of my clothes will fit on you.

[He tries to get up from the sofa now, step a bit unstable. He's still pretty unsure if this is really happening.]

[Not that he's never been seen naked before, but it's definitely a little embarrassing that it had to be Aether to see it. Usually, this would of been limited to shower time in the bay back when he was a recruit or even nowadays if he happened to go to an onsen, but it's a completely different situation when you're on your back ass naked in someone's lap.

Tartaglia sits on the couch with his legs crossed, thankful that he's got at least a pillow to cover himself for the time being, looking down at the ground as he recollects his thoughts and calms himself. This was not what he expected to happen, and definitely thought he'd be a cat a little longer than this.]

Thanks...haha...

[He responds awkwardly, waiting for Aether to come back with some blankets for him to wrap himself up in for the time being. At least when Aether comes back, he'll of calmed down and his blush will have subsided, only waiting patiently for his friend who'll at least keep him from walking around anymore with anything unwelcome hanging out for everyone to see.]

[It's definitely a very awkward situation, but Aether tries to tell himself that ultimately nothing bad happened. He probably didn't say anything embarrassing either... Or did he?

The traveler soon returns with a blanket in his hands and wraps it around Childe tightly as if he was trying to create a protective cocoon. Then he looks at his companion for a moment, putting a hand on his head. It definitely feels solid under his touch. And Childe has soft hair...

Aether almost drops back onto the couch, then tries to pinch himself. It hurt. He could feel it. This is the moment when he finally seems to accept the reality and snap out of his daze.]

...You're real. This is really happening...

[He presses a hand over his forehead, feeling like he's going to have a headache.]

Why were you a cat?

[He appreciates that Aether takes a moment to wrap the blanket around him. It makes it easier for him to keep that pillow in front of his junk so he doesn't accidentally flash his friend again, sighing with relief now that he's completely covered up.

He watches on as the traveler does a number of things to make sure this is reality and he's not dreaming. Touching him to make sure he's real, pinching himself to make sure he's not sleeping. Despite it all, Childe can't help but laugh at his reaction to it.]

I'm...not really sure myself. I'd gone out to collect herbs for one of the requests posted, and I thought I'd try them out myself while in the field. I cooked myself some food, and next thing I knew I was a cat.

[That's pretty much the long and short of it, shrugging back at Aether.]

So, I managed to hide my things in the small campsite I'd made, and made my way back to town, where I finally ran into you. It was hard to try to communicate with you- I kept falling to the animalistic instincts that came with being a cat.

[It all sounds so crazy, but things like that happen in this world, so he shouldn't even be surprised. Really, now that he thinks about it, maybe it's for the best that this is real. If he was dreaming about a naked Childe in his lap, he would have no idea what to make of it or what would it say about him.

Aether takes a deep breath.]

Just another strange day, then...

[He relaxes against the couch, tension finally leaving his shoulders.]

Good thing I found you, I guess. I can go grab your things if you tell me where exactly you hid them.

About that...

[He smiles sheepishly at Aether. It's not that Childe doesn't know where his things are, it's just...]

...I don't think you're going to be able to find them. It's hidden quite well and it's in the middle of nowhere. You're probably better off just calling Yoimiya and having her bring me some clothes. We'll just have to explain to her what happened...

[He can see it now, she shows up, he's naked, oh boy.]

It may be a bit awkward, but I'm sure she'll believe us.

Oh.

[The small sound leaves his lips as he looks at his companion.]

...This will be... awkward for sure. I'll do my best to explain it to her, though.

[He sighs.]

Well, I could accompany you to find them too, but...

[He sees the uncomfortable look in his friend's eyes, but he's not sure how he can get out of the house without being seen naked.]

Got a pair of sweatpants you don't mind if I stretch out a little? I don't think my hips are really that much bigger than yours, if at all.

[He's just going to look like a weirdo in public]

I... don't think that's a good idea.

[Honestly. Even though this place is probably full of... interesting people.]

I'm just going to call Yoimiya and save us both the trouble. No matter how weird this situation is, I doubt she'll think that we're lying. People can turn into animals here anyway.

[So who knows, maybe this won't be that strange.]

You're probably right. Go ahead, give her a call. Mind putting us on speakerphone so I can talk too?

[He'll concede to that, and honestly this will be faster anyway. He's sure that Yoimiya will understand their plight, and come right over with some clothes for him so the two of them don't have to sit through this awkward situation anymore.]

Sure.

[Aether takes a deep breath before selecting Yoimiya's contacts and calling her. When she answers, he puts the call on speaker and addresses his friend.]

Hi Yoimiya! I'm calling you with a... strange request. Childe is with me right now and he needs... uh, spare clothes. Could you bring them?

[How much into detail should he go about this??]

[ Coincidentally, Yoimiya happens to already be in Tartaglia's apartment, preparing dinner for whenever the chaotic boy comes back. She's making the finishing touches to the tonkatsu when Aether's name suddenly pops up on her phone. Always happy to talk to the Traveler, she picks it up as just as soon as it rings. ]

Heya Aether!

[ As she listens to him on the other end, her voice goes from ecstatic to hear from her friend to increasingly concerned. ]

Oh... um, sure! I can do that. Is he okay? [ pause ] What did he do now?

[His mood lightens upon hearing her voice, but he stops for a moment after hearing her concern- and her assumption he did something...]

C'mon, does everyone assume I've caused an issue every time something happens...?

[don't answer that]

I can assure you I'm fine. I'm just stuck here naked is all.

[Aether can't help but laugh softly.]

Because you like trouble!

[He shakes his head, still smiling.]

Meanwhile, look at me. I only wanted to take in a cat, but I ended up with you instead.

[Truly, he doesn't have much luck!]

...Well, I still think it was better that I found you.

[ Just as she's getting ready to agree with Aether's assessment of her trouble-making boyfriend, Yoimiya goes dead silent on the other line as her mind tries to make sense of the conversation that's taking place. There's... a lot to unpack that she's not understanding.

Congratulations boys, y'all managed to render HER speechless. ]

Um...

[ Processing... ]

Why are you naked?

[ STILL PROCESSING... this might take a while. ]

What's this about a cat?

[Oh, he guess he really didn't explain himself, did he? He shoots Aether a smug look (of course he's always looking for trouble!) before he answers.]

Oh, you see, I'm naked because of the cat. It's a little confusing, but at this point, I don't think there was any way around keeping my clothes. We'll have to retrieve them later, they're in a field squirreled away for the time being.

[Childe, always so proud to be a troublemaker! Aether shakes his head.]

I'm still surprised you managed to hide them while being so small.

[Truly, nothing can stop Childe, no matter what form he takes.]

[ ??????

BOYS PLS. 😭 She likes you both a lot but none of this is making sense to her. Why did he lose his clothes thanks to a cat? What's this about being small? So many questions...

Yoimiya doesn't say anything for a good minute. Archons, she's going to need a drink after this is over. ]

Listen, I don't wanna sound judgemental but ... [ Scratch that, maybe she needs a drink now wasiogh. ] Why on Teyvat did you get naked because of a cat?

[ Another pause. ]

... Aether. Are you naked too?

[He can tell by the tone in her voice that she's very confused. Like there's a key piece of information that he's omitted in the chaos, but at the moment, he doesn't know what it is.]

Hold on now, it was my mission, not his. I don't really see how I could of taken my clothes along, I don't think that's how this works, as much as I would have liked it to be.

[Obviously bodies transforming wouldn't allow him to keep his clothes, not like this.]

[They are really confusing her, aren't they?

When Yoimiya asks if Aether is missing clothing too, he can't help but go bright red.]

N-no, of course not! Uh, you see... Childe took a herb gathering request and this entire mess happened because he later cooked some of those herbs and ate them!

[Hopefully, that clears something up.]
