[ Alhaitham walks ahead at the silent offer, keeping an even pace as he climbs up higher. For some reason, the longer he goes, the more tired he feels and the more irritable he starts to feel himself getting at that. Irritable, at just climbing a set of stairs? That wasn't much like him. ]

Perhaps they were very friendly squirrels.

[ kaveh keeps his head down as he murmurs to himself, ] Ridiculous. [ but that's the extent of his reply. if he had anything else to say he keeps it to himself, instead leaving alhaitham to do all the talking. his phone is still in hand, a few quick sentences about the subtle changes in the tree typed up. ]

[rudementary]

[ And... talkative, Alhaitham is. Strangely enough. ]

Friendly squirrels isn't that much of a stretch. There are claw marks around and the size is about right, so perhaps they don't have many natural predators around here. A symbiotic relationship with local wildlife seeking shelter in this tree would benefit them, if they're intelligent enough creatures. Which they could very well be if they were also intelligent enough to create stairs.

[ This is probably more words than he says in his usual morning around the apartment. ]

[ alhaitham sure talks a lot. has he always been this chatty? kaveh takes a deep breath, trying to block out most of what he's saying. man, a pair of headphones would sure come in handy. ]

Even if they're hyper intelligent squirrels I sincerely doubt that the squirrels constructed these stairs. [ kaveh types up another few lines, noting that the further they ascend the worse the construction is. ]

[ Maybe Kaveh should talk more so Alhaitham wouldn't have to fill the silence like this!! It's so eerily quiet here that he can't help but say something!! ]

There's no evidence to the contrary! Kaveh, you must open your imagination more.

[ And maybe if they weren't caught up in their bickering, they would have been paying more attention to the flipping of roles happening here. ]

[ kaveh snorts, ] Imagination, Alhaitham, ...spending time thinking about make believe this and make believe that isn't going to help any. It's just a waste. And there is plenty of evidence to the contrary. [ he's going to rattle off a short list of construction details that he's noticed and how a squirrel, of all things, couldn't possibly come half as close to making them happen. ]

[ Please excuse Alhaitham as he starts to tune him out, even as he looks over his shoulder over at him. ]

At least you're pretty.

...and you couldn't save comments like that until we're behind closed doors. That's inappropriate. We're working, Alhaitham, can't you focus?

[rudementary]

[ He simply gives a knowing smirk back as he starts to turn in place and face the other man, that annoyance in Kaveh's eyes as enticing as ever. ]

Oh? Are you suddenly feeling shy? That's rather cute.

[ kaveh takes another couple of stares and then… oh. ] No, Alhaitham. If anything I’m feeling annoyed. [ he ignores the comment about it being cute. ] … and your procrastination isn’t helping. [ he makes a motion with his hand. ] Turn back around, we’re almost at the top.

[rudementary]

[ As per not Kaveh's instruction, Alhaitham takes a step down the stairs, bringing him closer to the other man instead of the top of the tree. Smugness sits plainly on his face, but unlike his usual, this one is filled with intent that's all too clear. ]

That sounds like it could become quite the problem if we don't take care of it sooner. And I know a few ways we might be able to.

[ ofc alhaitham doesn’t listen. kaveh considers trying reverse psychology on him the next time a conundrum like this comes up, but he gets the feeling it’s not going to change the obnoxious outcome to any ( and all ) of their encounters. ]

… [ this bitch. ] It’s not a problem. [ not yet, but he can feel his aggravation beginning to boil over. ] If you’re not going to take this seriously, then step aside. [ and he’s going to try to squeeze past him. ]

[ Perhaps unfortunately for Kaveh, their personalities may have swapped but their sizes haven't. Which means Alhaitham can very easily block the way and move to pin Kaveh up against the bark wall of the inner tree with a single arm, those same smug eyes still fixated on him. ]

If you're going to keep looking so cross, then I insist on helping so you can move on with a clear mind.

[ ...oh, right. kaveh seems to have let that slip his mind, so when he's pinning to the bark he looks surprised. he manages to steel himself a moment later, expression neutral an uncaring as he quirks a brow. ] What kind of help do you think I need, Alhaitham? Because I'm fine. It seems like you're the one that needs a hand, honestly.

[rudementary]

[ Leaning himself in, his flirtatious smile hurting his mouth from the weird and unfamiliar shape it's taking on widening at that momentary surprise on Kaveh's expression and really, it'd be nice to see more of that... ]

Would you lend me one if I said I did?

[noarchitact]

[ kaveh leeeeans back, trying to reestablish some space in between them. ] Maybe. It depends on what you have in mind, and what, exactly, the issue is. You're being vague.

[rudementary]

[ No space, only Alhaitham using his larger form to press Kaveh up against that brittle bark. ]

Please help me with the sexual needs you've incited in me, senpai.

[ sets a hand on his chest and tries to nudge him back... for all the good it's going to do. ] Now's not the time, Alhaitham.

[ He dips his head down to kiss just under Kaveh's jaw, pleased with the tingle of pleasure it gives him as well. ]

I would make it quick and well worth your time.

[ that oh-so-familiar jolt from the contact has kaveh's breath hitching. d- dammit. he should know better than to take advantage of how that makes them both feel. he tries to push on him again, because they need space, but his strength is failing him, and the promise has him giving it some consideration. ]

A bolt statement. Such confidence... or should I say what cockiness.

[rudementary]

I always make good on my word.

[ It's absolutely cockiness, a hand raising to trace the tips of his uncovered fingers against Kaveh's neck next. ]

[noarchitact]

[ kaveh tips his head back, as if trying to avoid the contact, since it's only making things worse. ] And just how are you going to do that?

[rudementary]

Would you like for me to explain to you in detail? I would think it faster to show you.

[ That looks more like an invitation to kiss more of Kaveh's bared neck, which he'll move to do. ]

...no. I think you've run your mouth plenty already. Go ahead and show me, [ kaveh hums as his eyes become lidded, a hand rising to alhaitham's waist. ] but you better make good on that promise or you're going to be punished.
