[ When you head to the location of Yuri's GPS ping from yesterday's network post, you'll find a rented-out little karaoke bar with MAID FOR YOU written on a handmade banner that is temporarily covering the bar's normal name, decorated in pink and black on the inside, with a lot of cute little two-chair tables taking up most of the floor space. There are rooms in the back that would normally be for singing karaoke in private, and singing with a maid is indeed one of the things you can do with those rooms today!

The real draw, though, is all of the very cute folks dressed as maids and/or butlers today, who will — for a small fee — wait on you personally. ♥

Take a menu, select a maid, and place your orders... or just ask Yuri what all the commotion's about, he'll be happy to explain! ]

((ooc: Maid cafe fundraiser! Don't worry too much about the coins your character is spending here, nothing is too expensive (though the black menu items are at a premium), we're all just here for the CR.

PLEASE NOTE: Yuri does feel personally responsible for the safety and comfort of all the Official Maids who are trying to help him raise funds here, so he will be actively trying to curb anyone bullying their friends into signing up, and he really doesn't want anyone working for him to be wearing or doing anything that makes them uncomfortable. Adult characters who only want to wear pink ribbons? Characters who want a full coverage maid outfit, or who want to be butlers instead? Excellent exercising of your boundaries, Yuri loves that for you.

You can, however, definitely pay for the "dress up as maid or butler" menu item and use that to bully your friends to your hearts' content. 😉))

Not from the same world, no. We were both brought to the previous place from our home worlds, much the same as everyone was brought here. [ Except that it was Forced Labor And Torture, Inc. ]

A princess? I assume you mean the traditional sort, the ruler of a country. I'm a Queen in terms of my species but we don't have organized nations. It's rather tribal, really.

I am a ruler of my country. Well, I will be when my father passes on the crown. He hasn't yet.

( It's quite complicated at the moment, the state of Hylian politics, but she doesn't think it is of interest to anyone in this place. What is of interest to her is the idea of a tribal queen. )

There is a tribal society in Hyrule as well and they have a leader, though she is not called a queen. She acts as queen, though. Species, you say? What species are you if not human like others here?

I see. [ Saya knows a lot about politics, but it's not her favorite subject. Most of her experience involves wars. ]

My species are called Chiropterans. A vampire is the closest approximation, if you know the word, although I'm not very much like what most people imagine when they hear that. There are a lot of stories about vampires. [ She makes a bit of a face. Vampire fiction means she's always fighting stereotypes. ]

( Zelda frowns a little, trying to see if she recalls the word, and ultimately shakes her head. )

No, I have never heard of a vampire before. How do you differ, then? You look no different really. I have been called an "elf" before but we refer to ourselves as Hylians in my homeland.

[ Someone not knowing what a vampire is makes this so much harder. She'd rather debunk stereotypes about garlic than scare someone. ]

It means a creature that drinks blood. That's what I am.

( Zelda frowns for a moment, working that out. There are animals that consume blood as sustenance in her experience so it makes sense that a humanoid creature might do so as well. Still, it begs some questions. )

I suppose my next question would be whose blood you consume. There might be ethical ramifications but as there are animals that consume blood, it stands to reason that you would exist as well.

[ This sounds vaguely like an accusation she's been leveled with before, but Saya's trying not to jump to conclusions here. ]

Normally, my servants. All of them are gone, so human blood is the next closest thing.

I only drink from willing donors so there are no ethical considerations. [ Her tone remains congenial but this is not something she is willing to be pressed about too much. There's a line between polite curiosity and a veiled insinuation, so far we're on the right side. ]

Then I suppose you're no different than anyone else. You just have a specific diet regimen you must follow. Does anything else come with being a vampire? Or is it simply the drinking of blood?

( Now Zelda is truly curious about it. Of course, curiosity can be seen as rude so she follows it up with - )

You don't have to answer. I'm just insatiably curious about most things.

There's a good deal of things, but none of it particularly suited to the good mood of the day. Another time, perhaps.

Naturally. I wouldn't want to spoil today's mood, especially when we are meant to be raising money for a good cause. I do find it interesting, though, your being a vampire. I hope that isn't rude?

( Curiosity really could kill a cat and Zelda is horrifically curious about everything. )

Not at all. It's a topic that can get a bit heavy at times, is all. My life is complicated.

If you want to get together for tea after the café is though so we can chat, that would be most welcome.

I would enjoy that greatly. Perhaps we can talk about things and you can address as many of my questions as you can tolerate.

( Zelda smiles at this, though, because she knows her tendency for asking questions can get quite vexing at times. )

I'll be as tolerant as I possibly can. Some things are sore points, is all. [ So if she doesn't answer, pushing her is a bad idea. This is meant to be a polite warning about it. ]

Well, certainly. I wouldn't expect you to divulge everything about yourself in a brief acquaintance. Feel free to tell me no at any time. I would be honored to hear anything you had to say, even if it is only one thing.

( The last thing she wants is for Saya to be uncomfortable. )

Should we meet up after the cleanup is through?

I think so. It would probably be a better time to talk than when everyone is running around busy with other things. It seems like a more private conversation anyway.

( Zelda's just glad that Saya will entertain any of it as it seems like something intensely private even if it is curious to her. )

She continues to take customers and has a great time at it even if it is still a strange concept to her and once the venue is clear and they're cleaning up, she starts contemplating the questions she has and the ones that would be more polite than the others.
