WHAT: A fundraiser for office space for Yuri's up-and-coming guild, Brave Vesperia Ellipsa.
WHEN: Late April.
WHERE: Blossomcrown, a karaoke bar rented out for the occasion.
WARNINGS: Cheesecakey fun. Potentially alcohol consumption. All maids offering black menu services will be linking to an additional top-level off comm ♥

[ When you head to the location of Yuri's GPS ping from yesterday's network post, you'll find a rented-out little karaoke bar with MAID FOR YOU written on a handmade banner that is temporarily covering the bar's normal name, decorated in pink and black on the inside, with a lot of cute little two-chair tables taking up most of the floor space. There are rooms in the back that would normally be for singing karaoke in private, and singing with a maid is indeed one of the things you can do with those rooms today!

The real draw, though, is all of the very cute folks dressed as maids and/or butlers today, who will — for a small fee — wait on you personally. ♥

Take a menu, select a maid, and place your orders... or just ask Yuri what all the commotion's about, he'll be happy to explain! ]

((ooc: Maid cafe fundraiser! Don't worry too much about the coins your character is spending here, nothing is too expensive (though the black menu items are at a premium), we're all just here for the CR.

PLEASE NOTE: Yuri does feel personally responsible for the safety and comfort of all the Official Maids who are trying to help him raise funds here, so he will be actively trying to curb anyone bullying their friends into signing up, and he really doesn't want anyone working for him to be wearing or doing anything that makes them uncomfortable. Adult characters who only want to wear pink ribbons? Characters who want a full coverage maid outfit, or who want to be butlers instead? Excellent exercising of your boundaries, Yuri loves that for you.

You can, however, definitely pay for the "dress up as maid or butler" menu item and use that to bully your friends to your hearts' content. 😉))

[Even after he's been let go of, Chipp's face remains a bright, glowing shade of orange. A very bright shade, now that his face has been kissed on top of everything else.
He looks like he needs a second. A second to think, at least.

But after that second's up, he reaches out and wraps an arm around their shoulders so he can bring them in and give them a peck to the top of their head in retaliation.]

... Ain't no way I woulda missed this. It's important to ya; I'm always gonna support you with this kinda thing.

[ The move gets a blink, prompted by the fact that Chipp's never actually given them a kiss before.

A blink, and then a very slight crook of their mouth upward as Nen makes a small sound and sits up straighter. Their posture always gets better when they're excited. ]

Then let's paint all the jacks black! Since you are my customer today I will do my best to make your stay at our cafe the very best.

[ While also very much admiring the look on his face, yup. Nen's eyes do not leave his face even once. ]

[Asked as a claw comes down to tap that option on the menu. Guess who just saw it?
It might not have any effect on him, but that doesn't mean he doesn't want it.]

Shame, though, real shame - ain't had a chance to see you get that far! Bet you the kind who gets real silly after a couple drinks.

I am told we have something called "lick-yeur" [ liqueur ] which will go well with coffees or desserts. I could ask the kitchen staff to make that arrangement for you.

[ also: please do take them bar hopping during the day, just make sure nen is sober enough to be awake for midnight!! ]

Liqueur? I'll take it - in that case, gimme one o' them kitty-cat parfaits with it. ... And a normal coffee, sounds good now that I mentioned it.
Maybe with some o' that rose syrup? Ain't had rose coffee before, sounds bougie.

[As far as he's concerned, adding flower syrup to coffee is "living a little", so he's letting himself have a little treat with that.
Is that a little sad? Probably!

Nen has no idea what 'bougie' is but if it means getting to let him try something new for a change? Nen is all for it. ]

Bring some of that curry rice, too. Like curry - never as spicy as I want, but I like it.

Oh! That's the one I wanted to try. I can ask them to make it extra-spicy if you would like.

[ The curry's got rice, it's got iquid and slow-cooked bites of veggies and meat...if anything, it's probably the one food item Nen's mildly equipped to handle.

Besides the cake. Nen takes another bite of that and then offers Chipp some more via robot-hand. ]

[- Oh, he will absolutely take more cake. It's a bigger bite this time, because he, again, does not have anything even remotely resembling table manners.
Is he a mess? Yes. But he's happy, that's what's important.]

Sure, ask'em to make it spicy-spicy for me! Not for you, though.
I don't think you gonna be able to handle much spice at all... 'least, not yet.

Okay. So that is two orders of the curry rice lunch set, one mild and one extra-spicy. One kitty parfait with lick-yeur, and one normal coffee with rose syrup.

[ Nen recalls that all...spot-on. The order is exactly as Chipp described and Nen pulls it off like it ain't no thang. New information might puzzle them, but Nen's brain is a sponge for the stuff. ]

Please allow me to convey your order to the kitchen staff. I shall return shortly.

[And this is Nen's mess smiling with pride at how easily they're able to recall every detail.
Even if they still can't say liqueur right. He'll let them have that one.]

Awright. Don't rush yourself, you know I be here waitin' patiently.

[ One day Nen will get it...one day. For now, they give Chipp a practised Butler's Bow and then heads back to the kitchen to get his order in. Luckily, there's ahand buzzer-beeper system in place so a little communicator in Nen's apron will let them know when a meal or drink is ready to be taken out, so while the food is being served, Nen returns with Chipp's coffee. ]

Here you are monsieur. One black coffee with rose syrup!

[Speaking of Nen's wonderful memory -]

Awww, lookit you! Knowin' 'zactly how I take my coffee even though I forgot to tell ya!

[While none of the other maids, butlers, customers or otherwise would likely be able to pick it out, it's guaranteed Nen would be able to hear just how delighted he is by the tone of his voice.
The... very, very mild tone. It's picked up a little bit, that's what matters.]

Way to make a fella feel real special - might have to tip just 'cause of this!

[ It is the tiniest of inflections but Nen has spent so much time around Chipp by now that they near-well puff up with pride. ]

Nen seats themself down beside him again, eyes bright. ]

You have your coffee the same every time you come over.

[It's almost like his emotions themselves are special just for them, at this point!
And with Nenonen dropping themself down next to him again, he can't help but throw an arm around their shoulders, rubbing his cheek into their hair like an affectionate cat.]

You got such a good eye for this shit, bet this place is gonna make beaucoup bucks with you workin' here!
How'd you learn what it called? They teach you that 'fore this place opened?

[He doesn't really recall saying outright that he takes his coffee black - just making it that way as he fixed coffee for the both of them.
But he also wouldn't doubt if they simply researched it, either.]

Yes! Yuri gave me a full day of training so that I would be prepared to be a "butler." I learned how a restaurant is laid out, where to put all the dishes and trays, how to talk to customers, and what all the foods are.

[ It's subtle, but Nenonen? Definitely looks a little proud as they describe everything they've learned in order to fulfill their role. ]

I practised very hard.

[ Nen leans back into him as he rubs his cheek on them, soaking up the attention with quiet delight. Anyone observing them might even call it...lovey-dovey. ]

[They're like a pair of lovebirds! Quiet, emotionless lovebirds.
He doesn't even notice how affectionate he's being over all this, just so tickled that someone paid any attention to his likes at all.

The only reason people back home know about anything like this is because they ask. No one really just... notices things like his likes or dislikes, otherwise.
Excuse him for being excited about this, ok.]

The work's easy to spot! You done good, Nenett. Real good.

[And now, how about he takes a sip of his coffee? (Is he letting go of Nenonen to make this happen? Of course not.)
Once he pulls it away from his mouth again, he has to stare at it for a moment as he actually thinks about how it tastes. He likes his coffee black, yes, but he also likes it sweetened -
With rose over top, it almost has a fruit-like taste; something floral, sweet, and bitter all at once.]

... Ain't half bad. Not how I thought that was gonna taste, but ain't bad at all.

[ Yet again, their oddities come together to form happy little puzzle pieces. Nen's so used to observing and being observed, looking for those tiny and insignificant details to draw meaning from that sometimes people get a little uncomfortable with how much they stare.

Chipp's never seemed to mind though. He takes all their little oddities in stride, only ever comments on something if he worries Nen doesn't understand. He really goes that extra mile for them--so how could they not want to learn as much about him (and for him) as they can?

How he likes his coffee included. ]

'Course, hun. Can't promise you gonna like it - ain't as mild as it is with your plant milks 'n stuff.
But I dunno, maybe you will?

[ Nen accepts the cup and takes an experimental sip...and while their facial expression doesn't, they sure do shift a bit as bitterness-prompted goosebumps shoot down their spine.

It's not as bad as the medicine Nen takes, but goodness. Plant-based milk really does a lot of heavy lifting. ]

Yuck.

[ It is said with the exact same energy as Nen would use if it were delicious :') Nen hands the cup back to him. ]

Bitter fruit is a strange flavour.

[ Nen would never survive grapefruit. ]

[- Yeah, no, there's no way that response wouldn't make him laugh. The usual wheeze laughter, of course - the kind that he has to stop and cough into his elbow over and everything.
But he takes that cup back, letting himself smile for them. With the usual caveat, of course. It's as much as he can.]

Guess it would be for ya, huh? 'S cause it ain't got nothin' to cut through it. You'd like it if there were a li'l of your almond milk or whatever else you like, I bet.
Maybe even the kind that's flavored - they got vanilla, don't they?

They have vanilla, chocolate, and original. I usually buy original because the sugar content is lower.

[ Which is not to say Nenonen is opposed to it, but they like to watch their sugar intake on account of how much everyone like to give them sweets. ]

We have a drink called a "mocha" which is coffee and chocolate. Have you ever tried that before?
