welcome home
Who: Venti, Yuri, Saya, Lumine, and Kantera
What: A moment of respite
When: March 4th
Where: A house at the far edge of Blossomcrown
Warnings: Probably mentions of previous game trauma/violence
[ Venti has always been the type who wanders to the beat of his own drum, dipping in and out of people's lives as easily as the blowing wind. But Tokyo-F . . . changed things, somewhat.
Though his initial instinct had been to sleep under a tree and call it "home," an invitation to live with old friends put a halt to those plans. For starters, it would be protection from the unpredictable weather in the segments. For another, maybe he did get used to having a bed and a room to call "home," in no small part because of the teammates and friends who inhabited it with him. Now that solitary tree feels . . . lonely, in a way it didn't before.
And so here he is, standing at the threshold of a house full of people he loves and trusts, who asked him to stay . . . it makes him feel his age, but not in a bad way, for once. Nor does he feel that nagging urge to disappear into the wind.
Should he catch anyone watching him, the pensive expression dissolves into a smile. ]
Hehe, is this the part where we fight over bedrooms?

[Kantera greets Rosen with a polite smile. He has a guess as to who this might be, from what Saya has told him.]
Shall I put some on for you now?
no subject
Tea would be fantastic, especially if you add a hint of bourbon.
[He’s not entirely being serious here but he wouldn’t mind some spiked tea. As for his pet hound, Ciaran strolls inside as well but the dog is thankfully quiet. It wanders up towards Kantera and gives him a curious sniff before sitting down before him with an expectant gaze. Ciaran wants treats. That damn dog ALWAYS wants treats. Ciaran is the reason why Rosen locks his cabinets at night.]
Don't mind the fuzzy one. [He warns.] I already fed him earlier but he will pretend like he's starving until I feed him again.
[Spoken like an exhausted pet owner.]
no subject
Tea with bourbon, understood. I'll restrain myself from spoiling your dog somehow.
[Thankfully he's a cat person, or this would be near impossible. Kantera dips into the kitchen to set a kettle on, and soon returns.]
Saya mentioned you might visit. Please, make yourself comfortable.
no subject
Nevertheless, Rosen ignores the hound for now in favor of mentally sizing up his generous host. Those are wings upon Kantera's back, aren't they? He can't help but stare a little in surprise. Is this man some sort of...faerie? He's starting to believe so since Kantera doesn't seem like a vampire to him. Then again, he has only known Saya and one other. Vampires don't normally have horns, do they? He lets out a thoughtful hum as he flops down on the sofa besides Ciaran. The dog lets out a huff before sulking once more.]
Did she now? I wonder what else the little queen has mentioned~
[Judging from his airy tone, Rosen doesn't mean any harm. He's just curious, if anything. He's essentially meeting his queen's king.]
You seem like a rather kind fellow. Quite handsome, too.
[He winks at him.]
no subject
My name is Kantera. Pleased to meet you.
no subject
[Rosen definitely isn’t the type to kiss and tell. Whatever nonsense he does in the bedroom, stays there. That’s an old policy of his, one that stems all the way back from his heydays. Even so, he’s honestly grateful that Kantera doesn’t seem like the jealous type. He saw firsthand how destructive jealousy can be and honestly, he wants no part of that.]
My name’s Rosenkrantz or rather that’s what people call me.
[He knows that Saya already told Kantera about him but it doesn’t hurt to be polite. Besides, this is the first time either of them have met and first impressions matter a lot.]
I take it you’re some sort of…faerie?
[Well, Kantera does have wings and horns like a faekin.]
no subject
A draken - a race from my home descended from dragons and humans. Sadly closer to the human side in terms of abilities, I fear.
no subject
That’s quite the lineage! I can’t say I’ve met many dragons in the past, such creatures seem to only exist within myth and legends but I do know of the Fae at least.
[Can Kantera breathe fire? If he’s half-dragon, he must be able. Rosen keeps that in mind while regarding the little fellow.]
Do you share an affinity for fire? If so, we might share a commonality.
no subject
[Kantera lifts one hand, and a few ice crystals twinkle and dance on his palm before he waves them away.]
I also have a healing spell, if that's of any interest to you.
[Saya tends to collect fighty men, in his experience.]
no subject
That’s quite…interesting.
[He mumbles as the ice crystals vanish into thin air. There’s no incantation or anything, much like how Rosen summons his magic. He lets out a thoughtful hum. Maybe cryomancy is one of Kantera’s natural abilities? He’s not sure but he does look a bit intrigued to know that Kantera is a healer as well.]
Healing magic, you say? Well, that would be quite useful in a pinch. I hate to admit it but I lean more towards the punchy side of things.
[Rosen likes to throw hands, not heal folks.]
no subject
[Saya can heal on her own power, so Kantera rarely gets a chance to help her despite her being as punchy as Rosen is.]
no subject
[He jokes while petting his somewhat restless dog. Ciaran is whining now for treats. This overgrown black hound is usually better behaved than this but the dog really wants a snack. A sigh escapes Rosen as he gives Kantera an apologetic smile.]
You wouldn’t happen to have a biscuit or two for the fuzzy one?
[Ciaran perks up a little once he hears the magic word. This annoying mutt loves biscuits.]
no subject
[Frankly a mystery.]
Will he take popcorn?
no subject
[Wait a damn minute. Does he mean “Yuri” as in that pompous arse he battled in the colosseum the other day? The one with the long flowing purple hair? That girlish bloke? If so, Rosen’s left eye twitches a little. This can’t possibly be just a coincidence, right? Right.]
Ah, think you misunderstood! Ciaran likes actual biscuits, like the ones you bake. I think the mutt eats anything I put before him, right boy?
[Ciaran glances up at him again and whines even louder. It seems the dog is quite famished regardless of just being fed hours ago.]
So I think popcorn might do, maybe.
[To be honest, he doesn’t think there’s nothing that this odd faerie dog won’t eat. Including human flesh but he rather not think of such things.]
no subject
Ah, in that case, I'll get him some now.
[Kantera dips into the kitchen, and returns with a cup of spiked tea for Rosen and a plate with popcorn on it for Ciaran.]
no subject
[He states with a charming smile as he accepts the tea. As for that plate of popcorn, Ciaran hops down from the sofa and starts sniffing it curiously before eating it up. It seems even faerie hounds like Ciaran like popcorn. It’s the universal snack for all creatures, even fantasy ones.
Rosen cannot help but laugh as he watches his dog much on the popcorn. That silly mutt will be the death of him someday.]
I swear Ciaran acts as if I haven’t fed him in days.
[He mutters before taking a sip. It’s not bad! It seems Kantera knows his alcohol or at least someone in this house does.]
Tell me, what’s your poison of choice? As half-dragon, I suspect you could drink me under a table.
no subject
Ah, I'm afraid that as a doctor, I don't drink much more than a few glasses of wine at a party now and then. They frown on doctors showing up to work hungover, you see, so I have to find other ways to enjoy myself.
[It's for the best - he couldn't keep up with Saya and Venti even if he tried.]
no subject
[He asks with a bit a frown. So far, this mild-mannered doctor seems like a stick in the mud. Definitely not the adventurous type. So, he's a little curious to know what this fellow does for fun.]
I take it you're not the sparring type either.
no subject
[Fond memories.]

I know how to cook well enough, I suppose. [A beat.] Though, my daughter…was admittedly better at it than I was.
[Then again, his daughter didn't scorch her tastebuds experimenting with spicy foods.]
no subject
[A helpful hint from one of Saya's paramours to another.]
no subject
[He can't help but smile a little at that idea. While Rosen isn't exactly a good cook, he knows how to make a few dishes here and there. Maybe they could have a cookout or something of that nature? That seems like fun idea.]
Does she have any favorites? I already know she's a fan of junk food.
no subject
[He's seen her eat frogs. He doesn't think he should tell Rosen that, it's a weird look.]
no subject
[He figured that someone as sweet as Saya would have a penchant for all things sugary. While he doesn't mind the occasional treat, Rosen prefers spicy over sweet. Then again, that shouldn't come a surprise.]
What about yourself, Kantera? Are you a fan of sweets?
[For some reason, he gets a sense that Kantera is the type to prefer savory over sweet.]
no subject
[Kantera's sweet tooth is a little unbecoming of a doctor, but so sue him.]
I can also cook other things, of course. You really must come over for dinner sometime.
