[OPEN]
WHO: Kokichi, Dainoko employees, and you!
WHAT: Dainoko's grand opening event!
WHEN: Evening of April 7th
WHERE: Daikichi no Enko Casino in Nightwake
WARNINGS: Murder game theming, "murder", blood, someone being "crushed" beneath a piano (no graphic descriptions)
a warm welcome
[Guests are graciously invited into the casino with bows at the door by the bouncers, with the doorman offering them a warm welcome before giving them a brief explanation of where to go. The first floor is the lounge and opening ceremony with tables set up for them to relax at and the bar on the left ready to offer them the promise free refreshments. The menu is fixed for the night, to make it easy on their chefs and bartender, but it's recipes special for the opening event only! While teens are allowed in the lounge area (barred from going up to gamble), they'll have to settle for juices or mocktails, but those have some fun unique spins as well for the event.
The casino is decked in mainly golds, whites, and blacks for the event in decoration with the main stage lit up though currently empty, with soft music playing over the speakers that sounds like it could come straight out of a film noir movie. The slots and pachinko machines are currently open to play on the third floor but everyone's informed that dealers for second floor games are waiting for the boss's speech before they'll open their tables. While people sit and mingle, wait staff wander through the tables offering water and snacks to the guests or asking if they'd like refills on anything.]
the opening speech
[Shortly after the doors open - enough time to let people come in, get something to eat, and chat but not so long as to drag things out - Kokichi takes the stage with a mic in hand and what looks to be a bodyguard in tow, though he waves him off to sit at a table nearby before clearing his throat to get everyone's attention. Even though his post said there was no dress code he's shown up dressed for the occasion himself in a black tailcoat over a light purple dress shirt with a black bow tie. And...black cummerbund for the illusion of tucking in his shirt despite not wearing pants.]
Good evening everyone! Let me start by welcoming you personally to Dainoko and thank you for joining me today. [His wings tuck in a little as he offers everyone a bow.]
I already made that announcement post way too long so I'll keep this speech short and sweet. I hope you all enjoy your time here, both tonight and any time you visit in the future. I lucked out getting Chipp-chan in my kitchen, so at the very least I know you'll enjoy the food, but my dealers and I are eager to keep the games interesting and enjoyable as well.
Any questions, complaints, business propositions, interest in working here, or general comments are always welcome and can be directed to myself or my assistant manager Stephen-chan - [He gestures to a well dressed man standing near the door who waves a hand to introduce himself.] - and will be addressed or taken into consideration as soon as possible.
Before I finish this little talk, I'm sure everyone would like to know about those "prizes" I mentioned. For tonight only, everyone will be getting a cut of the casino's profits as well as a fun mystery souvenir, simply for staying and enjoying yourselves for the duration of the event! At the end of the night you'll be able to collect these prizes at the door.
the incident
Now! [The naphil raises a hand and snaps his fingers and a soft mechanical sound can be heard above him, where the feet of a piano slowly begin to enter view.] For the first act of the night I had asked Stephen-chan to invite the Ultimate Pianist to play a number for you all but, alas, something came up last minute and she couldn't make it. So I'll be playing the piece she wrote for the opening act instead~ While I'm certainly not at her level, I promise I'm talented enough! And if I'm not, Chipp-chan will be providing tomatoes free of charge to boo me off the stage with!
[Just as he finishes his joke and the piano is mostly in view, the lights suddenly cut out, plunging the casino into darkness. Kokichi is a little surprised, but asks everyone to remain calm as he has his employees check on the issue. The request is then punctuated with distinct clicks of metal followed by a crash, loud and off key piano notes making it clear what the source of the crash was, and there's silence from Kokichi in response to a few staff members asking if he's okay.
The assistant manager quickly takes over, once again reminding everyone to remain calm. The lights come back on soon after, revealing a horrible sight on the stage:
The piano did, indeed, fall from its chains and underneath it is a large splattered pool of a white, shimmery, iridescent liquid with an almost ethereal glow to it. The naphil is no where in sight.
The assistant manager rushes to the stage while requesting the doors be shut and locked and, after examining the scene, turns solemnly towards the audience.]
It seems our boss has been murdered. Please have patience with us while we get to the bottom of this, everyone. The doors will remain closed to prevent the culprit from escaping but you are all free to move around the casino as you please. The bar will remain open, and if you have any questions or concerns feel free to ask one or the staff of myself. Thank you.
[With a short and tense bow he turns back to the piano to inspect it further, leaving the guests to do as they please for now.]

Summary of events
❖ As guests are invited in, they are given the layout of the casino. Machine games on the top floor are operational, dealer games on the second will be open after the opening speech. There's a fixed menu for food and drinks for the night, with plenty of tables and chairs situated in front of the main stage for seating. Teens are allowed in, but barred from going upstairs to gamble and can't drink if they're under the age limit (but there is a fancy non alcoholic menu for them too.)
❖ A little while after guests are let in and have gotten settled, Kokichi takes the stage, urging his bodyguard to sit and enjoy himself instead of standing there with him. He greets the guests, gives them a short opening speech where he introduces the assistant manager, Stephen, and ends it gesturing to a piano slowly lowering down onto the stage. He will be playing a song to officially start the night.
❖ Moments later the lights go out and Kokichi reassures the crowd his staff will figure out what happened soon, followed by the sounds of metal clicks and a crash. The assistant manager insists everyone remains calm, the lights turn back on to reveal the piano crashed to the stage, and he makes his way forward while having the doors closed and locked.
❖ He inspects the scene, where what seems to be ethereal blood is splattered beneath the piano, then announces that Kokichi has been murdered. He explains the doors will stay locked so the culprit can't escape but the guests are free to wander around while they investigate, and to direct any questions they may have to himself or one of the staff on shift.
Notes
❖ Welcome to Dainoko's grand opening ceremony! The theme this time is "Murder Mystery Manor"! Played out like a mini murder game investigation and trial, the goal is for characters to find the culprit behind the murder.
❖ There will be four top levels for organization. Three of them will be one where characters can inspect the scene and related areas for clues themselves, one where they can ask staff members and suspects questions, and one for discussions regarding the "case".
❖ Areas of interest will already be available for inspection and will list how many clues are there to find, and staff and suspects will already have comments for you to chat with them. The discussions top level is used for characters to talk out who they think did it and they're free to start a discussion whenever they please, whether they have an actual idea or not.
❖ Because this isn't a traditional murder game case and trial and there will only be a single log, under the discussions top level will be a comment for "voting", where you can submit your character's accusation of who the culprit is. Votes are final but can be submitted at any time once a character makes up their mind. Just make sure if they're accusing their friend for a laugh they're committed to the bit!
❖ Once enough characters are convinced of a culprit, the fourth top level will be used to announce the conclusion of the event. If characters fail to come to the correct conclusion, the participation prizes will be handed out regardless, so don't stress if your character may or may not get it right (or may or may not be a troll and accuse people unrelated just because).
❖ In order to keep this from dragging on too long without reaching a conclusion, voting will close April 13th!
❖ If any characters may be the type to be truly upset or unsettled by this but you'd like them to still participate or you're unsure how to get them to engage, staff have been trained and encouraged to quietly reassure anyone who seems distressed that this is for fun and their boss wants people to enjoy themselves. "He said to just think about this as a big puzzle or escape room." Just assume someone came over to help!
❖ Any OOC questions can be asked here, and for anyone unfamiliar with murder games and possibly unsure of what to do I have a mini guide here to hopefully help!
❖ The main portion of the log can be used as a mingle for before, during, or after the murder mystery so feel free to top level on your own as you please!

Questions
A quick and dirty guide on murder game investigations
❖ Top levels are used to give characters places to investigate and people to ask questions.
❖ Multiple characters can investigate together and characters can investigate individually as well, and it's okay if the same clue is discovered by multiple characters so don't be afraid to investigate even if other people already are.
❖ Characters should be inspecting areas looking for relevant information that might help them solve the case. Likewise, they should ask suspects questions to learn information and help them try to narrow down who the culprit may be based on the clues they have and what they learn from them.
❖ I will be replying to all investigation threads aside from Chipp's for information discovery, and when characters learn something important, that clue will be in bold text to make it easier to know what does and doesn't matter for solving things.
❖ A suspect's clues can be lies, so keep an eye out for contradictions!
❖ Characters can discuss their thoughts either during investigations if multiple are working together or they can start a discussion under the discussion top level, and the goal is to come to a majority agreement on whodunit.
❖ Once a character is certain they know who it was, you can submit their vote under the voting comment. At the end of the event, the votes will be counted, and the end of the case will be revealed!
Areas of Interest
The Stage
Above the stage, where the piano was being lowered from, are three chains hanging from...some sort of contraption. It's likely the method behind the piano's suspension and lowering and there looks to be a catwalk of sorts that can access it overhead as well. Following the catwalk, characters will find there's a nearby ladder they can use to access it for investigation next, though a guard is standing nearby.

The chains holding the piano have nothing up with them! They're ordinary chains for their strength, ones you could find at any decent hardware store. Something that may or may not be strange is that, despite the piano falling, the chains themselves are completely undamaged and fully intact.
The Fusebox
Also please don't mess with any switches you don't need to if you can...

[She's joking. ...Insomuch as she knows that no one is actually dead in this case. She one hundred percent believes he would just tell her 'yeah I killed that guy' if it was a real murder.]
Stephen; Assistant Manager
After making his announcement to the guests, he investigated the scene a little further on his own but...he's no detective. He wasn't able to uncover any useful information on his own, unfortunately. He's waiting for the Head of Security to report after their perimeter check.
Clues present: 3
Clues will be bolded in tags.
Ford; Head of Security/"Bodyguard"
Stephen told him he'd handle investigations, so Ford is focusing on making sure no potential suspects are able to escape and that no guests or staff are in further danger.

Other Staff
Please note that these staff members are not themselves suspects, however!
