[ A part of Gintoki had seriously considered staying out until well past Zura's usual bedtime in the hopes of avoiding the aftermath of his gift, but once afternoon comes around he can't stop thinking about it and the nerves that make absolutely no sense are quickly wearing him down.

Not to mention Sadaharu is a dog who deserves to be in bed at a reasonable hour.

When he steps through the gate to the yard, though, he finds a familiar figure he really didn't expect, and he comes to an abrupt stop as he takes in Hijikata and the box in his hands and-- What.

The hell are you doing here?

[Hijikata practically jolts at the sound of Gintoki's voice. Why is he here?! He had it on good authority that he was out with the giant dog - and, in fairness, he was, until now. Shit!! Enenra, why didn't you mention that he was on the way back already?! Hastily hiding the box behind his back after whipping around to face him, he blurts out:]

[Alas, he already knocked on the door...]

Honestly, he's not sure why he's annoyed or why he cares. He's not sure why he feels a sort of sting with the realisation that Zura went and gave Hijikata chocolates on Valentine's Day too. And because he's not sure, he directs all that annoyance at Hijikata, glaring daggers as he approaches the front door. ]

[He's in deep shit now, and he knows it. He can't possibly give Zurako the chocolates in front of Gintoki!! That'd invite an endless stream of mockery for being enough of a loser to still have an attachment to the fake woman who catfished and played him! Though oddly enough, Gintoki seems genuinely upset rather than ready to dunk on him... huh.

Seeing how Zurako (or, it dawns on him, Katsura - who's to say that he's even in Zurako mode?) isn't coming to the door right away, he sees a chance to make a break for it.]
