The most notable building in Nightwake is the huge research center where Otherworlders start their journey. It's both a place to study magic as well as a place to develop technology. They also host the main hospital of the city inside the building. Additionally it's also the place where all the weather in the middle district gets determined. The building is, for good reasons, the most highly secured place in all of Ellipsa.

There are several departments in the Research Center buildings. Each of them has their own section of the floor (or several floors) with plenty of rooms and spaces to do research in including flora and fauna, general technology, linguistics, medical research, history, magical research, magi-technology, portal dimensions and inventions. However, there are so many departments no one's ever sure just what there are, because new people can always start their own departments.

The most important one, however, is the study of seasonal abilities and ways to make otherworlders be able to travel between here and their home. This department alone has two whole floors dedicated to it. Another very important department is the Hospital Wing, which is the main hospital of the city. The place is connected to the medical research department and easily accessed from the lobby.

Surely with such an important building as a hub for newcomers and long time residents, many things happen within the vicinity. Expect the unexpected...and maybe some insomniac researchers coveting the coffee stash.

[For those who are familiar with the hospital and medical department, Zayne is pretty much known to be there constantly. It would honestly shock people to know that he does in fact have a place to call home outside of the hospital walls.

He can be spotted making his rounds, checking on various patients along with Jasmine the Sprigatito dressed in garb that shows her as a therapy pokemon. For some of them, he does stay a bit longer to check on their vitals and progress due to their exposure with the Hearts gang's experiments. There's also times when he's doing clinic work such as physicals and check ups; boring times but in between them, he's nursing a nice cup of jasmine milk tea to relax.

Sometimes it's just because of the workload. And sometimes it's because the patients simply want to flirt and Zayne doesn't really care about that. Seriously, do people think they can fool him?

And then there's the late night shifts. The times when he's on call or needing to finish up paperwork from the previous day but for the most part tend to be not as hectic...unless some dumbass gets into a fight and then turns into a brawl and suddenly there's a dozen or so people piling into the emergency room. It happens. For the most part, he typically sees some of the local researchers hold tests of endurance to see how long they can last without sleep with somehow hiding all the coffee from the break room.

He never gets involved in those. He has better things to do. But sometimes during those late nights, other than the usual nightly check ins, he can also be spotted in one of the rest areas taking a well needed break.]

[Sylus is not a regular face around the Research Centre. He has little motivation to directly engage with such places and prefers to monitor quietly from a distance, but there is someone in particular who has his interest.

That someone occasionally shows up on the late night shifts when Zayne is in the medical department, perhaps just as he decides he's going to take a break from his work.

And right as he turns around, there's a white-haired, crimson-eyed crime boss leaning casually in the doorway of his office, idly examining his nails with a tiny, wry smile curling the corners of his lips up.]
