The Happy Bunny Outbreak

WHAT: Happy Bunnies are all over Sunwaning

NOTES: It is likely common knowledge through the locals gossip that this is happening. The Happy Bunnies were recently added to the Companion Animals.

[Long story short, there are many happy bunnies all around Sunwaning. Somehow, two of them multiplied into several, which is now causing them to be all over the district.

The baby bunnies aren't very different from adults, but are smaller (for now).

Their special ability is that they can find treasure, so it's likely they might get attracted to something on a person or at their house.

They're friendly and get attached to people easily. They do make great pets.]

[In the middle of the chaos is Jean, who is trying to make sure the bunnies don't go everywhere but isn't doing a very good job at it. How do you control magical and very jumpy bunnies anyway?

He's tried stacking "treasure" into places that are makeshift enclosures, but they're clever and jump on top of each other if they want to go somewhere.

Currently he's taking a break...? Or just lying on the ground covered in bunnies for some reason.

It has been an exhausting day.]

Wah, cute...!

[Rinku came to see the bunny pile, but once she spots Jean under it, she kneels down and sort of gently nudges some of the bunnies off.]

Jean-san? What are you doing down here?

Drowning in bunnies.

[He just says it how it is. One of the bunnies settles on his head stubbornly.]

I've spent all day trying to put them in an enclosure but they keep escaping.

Aww. How come you guys are doing that?

[Addressed to the bunnies. No, she doesn't have an Animal Amulet. She's just like this.]

Is your enclosure not any fun?

[Since his animal amulet is easy to take off, he slides it over to Rinku and places it on her palm if she lets him. Congrats, you can talk to them for a bit.]

Would you want to stay inside fences when you have so much to explore???

We sense treasure! Treasure!

I like giving humans a hard time.

[Jean is kind of relieved he doesn't have to hear all of the talk now.]

Just remember to return it to me.

[Asking Rinku to remember things, a tall order...]

Giving people a hard time isn't fun at all. They just wanna keep you safe. Of course this whole world is exciting, but the house and being with your friends is fun, right? How come you came here if you didn't wanna be pets?

[Well, maybe Jean will remember to ask it back.]

We didn't come here, we were born here!

We wanna bond with humans.

But do we gotta make it easy???

[Rinku pets them and makes happy little noises.]

Bonding sounds fun! I wanna make friends with everyone too. But making people all frustrated is gonna make them mad at you, right? I don't get why you wouldn't just be all "yay friends."

[She turns to Jean and smiles.]

I heard about these guys and wanted to come learn about them! All kinds of animals are interesting and fun, and we didn't have magical animals back home. Besides, Mary-chan wants a pet, so I wanted to do research on all the different kinds!

[One of the few things she will excitedly do research on.]

I guesssss....

But how can we meet others if we just stay in an enclosure tho...

Escape escape. Find people-

[Jean is finally let up by the buns (he could have gotten up any moment, really).]

I kind of offered one of these for Mary, actually. That one is obedient and didn't run off like the others...

Wow, really? That's great! She's gonna be so happy!

[Rinku giggles and pets one of the bunnies.]

Finding people does sound fun, but I dunno why you gotta escape. Maybe people can come to you!

[The bunnies look at each other and then just nod, some of them hopping back towards the house.]

... well, I guess some of them agreed, at least. It was a good idea to lend the amulet to you, so you could negotiate.

Oh! Oh, right.

[Rinku hands the amulet back to Jean belatedly.]

I dunno if it was really negotiating. I just said what I was thinking.

[Jean attached the amulet back to where it was.]

Well, it worked anyway.

Do you want to meet the bunny I was thinking for Mary?

Yeah, of course! I hope we can all get along, but I'm sure there won't be any problems.

[Said with full confidence even though she'd been planning to do a ton of research on available pets...]

Just remember that the decision is both of yours, since Mary trusts you. If you think there's a better pet out there, don't force yourself to adopt one just for my sake.

[He wouldn't want to force a Happy Bunny on them, after all.

But he makes his way towards the house.]

I wanna give the kids a good life. That's the only thing I think about, so I'm sure whatever happens will be fine!

Even a pincer strategy failed to contain them...

[Yup. This would be two battle-hardened soldiers just lying out on the veranda of their house, having been thoroughly outmanoeuvred to suffer a humiliating defeat at the hands of bunnies.]

[To be fair, this is not the kind of battle they're used to. Jean notices that one of the dogs (Hazel, the German Shepherd) is chasing some of the bunnies.]

Apparently they're the masters of escape tactics even at such a young age. We have to warn anyone who wants to adopt them...

Affirmative...

[A couple of the bunnies, had been distracted by Frigg and Freya's enclosure... which would be a good thing, if it weren't for the fact that now the bunnies and the guinea pigs were squeaking as if they hadn't been fed in a million years.]

We should do a headcount, confirm the enemy numbers...

Yeah...

[Is he getting up to actually do so?

No.]

Maybe in a bit.

...yeah.

[She wasn't in a hurry either- and when one of the bunnies contently jumped on her and made itself comfortable, that rather settled it.]

I'm not a good pillow you know...

... maybe that's the one you brought back. If so, you're probably most comfortable.

[It was a little hard to tell who was 'the original parent' and who was a baby somehow.]

Jean could probably here light footsteps before a shadow fell over him.

"Er... you okay down there?"

Yes curiosity over the happy bunnies had brought a cat to Sunwaning. Dick crouches down and a few bunnies jump off jean to investigate the cat. A couple of them taking an interest in a silver cuff on his wrist.

"I can try to distract them while you make a break for it if you want."

Jean waves his hand. "I appreciate it, but it's fine. I'm just taking a break. I don't need to run away from the bunnies."

It's not like they were harmful.

You look like you could use some help.

[MK appears after hearing about the cute little bunnies who seem to keep multiplying. He sets his staff down on the ground. It is one of a kind and clearly treasure. And thankfully, they won't be able to lift it or carry it away. Then he also will set down the other helper he brought, his Zen Capybara.

Mr. Stache quickly sits down and will just release his aura of zen for Jean, MK, and all the cute bunnies.]

Do you wanna sit up or just lay there for a bit?

[With the Zen Capybara there, Jean sighs. Definitely feeling the effect fast.]

... I'm good right here. I've been running around all day so it does me good.

[MK nods. He plucks a few hairs from his head and blows on them. They seem to explore in clouds of golden smoke before each hair becomes another MK.]

Alright clones. Go help take care of the bunnies. Get them wrangled up while Mr. Mustache here helps calm them down.

[The clones all nod and run off to go try and wrangle some happy bunnies. Meanwhile the original MK sits down beside Jean.]

Sounds like a good idea. You definitely deserve a break.

[Mr. Mustache...? That was an interesting name for a capybara. Jean sneaks a peek at it, in case it does have a mustache.]

Thanks. I didn't really expect the bunnies to multiply this quickly, even if we were warned.

[The capybara does very much look like he has a mustache. The fur on his cheeks is a bit long and MK has combed it a little to try and make it look like his namesake. The zen capybara looks at Jean and blinks slowly before moving to just lay next to him.]

I mean they are bunnies. Makes sense since they are good at multiplying normally. Add in weird Ellipsa magic stuff and well.

[MK just motions out to all of the bunnies around them as his clones work to gather them all up.]
