[ It's actually unusual for a bot to communicate this way, but since text on a screen allowed it to have a comfortable distance from whoever it was communicating with, that was the default that it was using. ]

Since I've learned there is a whole bunch of humans that are already here, I have to figure that a lot of them already have their own ways of protecting themselves, since there is no possible way I'd be able to deal with that many clients all by myself. If you don't, though, and the humans all decide to do something that is borderline suicidal, then more power to you as long as I don't have to clean up after it.

I did see that it was common for a job to be done in exchange for a hard currency card. There are way too many of you for me to be able to call all of you my clients, but I'd be willing to rent myself out as a security specialist for smaller groups again? Although, as a security specialist, I'll tell you right now that most of you humans are way too fragile to be doing repairs to buildings that are not structurally sound.

Is that taking into account the magical powers or is that just looking at the straight honesty that humans are both surprisingly sturdy in ways and also incredibly breakable?

Not disagreeing, just curious what was factored in or not. Has anyone told you about Safety Pins?

They are, which is why one of my friends keeps telling people to pick up a Safety Pin. Creates a barrier that lasts for hours around a person.

Not wrong about being mentally stronger or more adaptable, within reason.

Not usually, but it's a good tool for the people who do tend to get injured often. Also for unexpected incidents on quests and expeditions, or whatever you want to call them.

I can recommend you to Jean Kirstein and Reiner Braun to see if they'll want to commission you for your services in the future. They're running a company that works parallel to what the Season Guilds do here, focused on keeping people safer when they're venturing into the Segments. Is that useful?

( SecUnit is being so much kinder than it needs to be. )

I'm so sorry for how this place is going to make you feel. Humans are terrible at security, and also not being reckless, which can amount to about the same thing.

Jean Kirstein is standard human. Reiner Braun is not, and his nature means he's very difficult to render incapable of surviving. Most those involved with their Guild-adjacent group are standard for their species, and I think that's by majority human.

You're not wrong, but having magic and appropriate gear DOES help a lot. Also, while there are a number of nonhumans around, a lot of them aren't that much tougher than humans are, and leaving all the dangerous stuff to the few that are would be impractical.

Do you normally see humans getting injured a lot at home?

I see. You have the option of doing a different job here if you want, but if you’d prefer that one, taking on smaller groups or individuals is definitely the way to go.

Humans are going to get hurt sometimes. We’ve had a few deaths, although they’re temporary here. (It still sucks, I recommend avoiding it.)

If you die here, your body disappears after half an hour and then you reappear alive in one of the flower yards in the segments after three days. It happened to me, it was weird as hell.

Whole body. No weird half-corpses that I've seen, thankfully.

Yep! If you die, a giant version of the flower you have a charm of will grow, and you'll pop out of it a couple days later good as new.

[Hers is coriander, which isn't exactly known for its flowers...]

I mean, in your case, it would either be a relatively quick process or you would have time to see someone for repairs? There's people here with robotics experience.

Soooo do you not like humans or are you just sick of cleaning up after them?
luckynumber13: (Sure Sure)

[personal profile] luckynumber13 2025-07-18 06:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah that's a feeling I can get behind.

This is a bit of a long shot but you're not a morph are you?

They're a species from my world who work for humans.
luckynumber13: (cute? Really?)

[personal profile] luckynumber13 2025-07-20 04:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh. I don't think I've met a bot before. I'm a cat morph, I guess a good way to explain that for you is I'm from a breed of cats that's been augmented to me more like humans and to help them out with tasks.

My name is Dick. Or Fords if you prefer.

If I hear about anyone needing security I'll let them know about you.

[He's about to ask the bot's name when he realised that maybe the reason they hadn't introduced themselves by name was because they thought they already had.]

Is your name Eden like your username?
